Degrassi Auditions
The question I receive the most is people asking about how they can audition for Degrassi. There are VERY strict criteria just to be eligible to audition, and that doesn’t even guarantee anything. This is the most recent information I’ve found about the audition information. PLEASE read the information below carefully. If you ask me about auditions via e-mail, I’ll just send you to this page, and feel free to send this to everyone in the Degrassi fandom who has questions about auditioning for Degrassi. And if you can and do wind up getting an audition for Degrassi good luck!

What do I need to be eligible to audition for Degrassi?
1) YOU MUST BE A CANADIAN CITIZEN. This is an absolute must…there is no getting around this. It doesn’t matter if you’re an aspiring actor/actress in Texas, or Ohio or anywhere else in the U.S., and being on Degrassi is your dream. If you don’t have Canadian citizenship you will not be considered, end of story. Degrassi is funded by the Canadian government, and one of the requirements of them continuing to receive funding is that the cast and crew they hire must be Canadian.
2) YOU MUST HAVE AN AGENT (BE PART OF AN ACTING AGECNY). I think there used to be a time where it wasn’t necessary to have an agent, but according to the Degrassi FAQ on MuchMusic’s site they hire all of their actors (primary and background) through agencies. Do you know when Degrassi is having auditions again? No, I do not. I do not work for Degrassi, and they do not/will not send me casting info directly. Degrassi does not release their casting notices to the public, though sometimes Canadian sites like TheTVAddict.com might get ahold of casting info through various sources. You will never find a “time and date” for casting of characters online. Degrassi sends casting info directly to acting agencies, who will search for potential clients who are already part of their agency….this is why it is important for you to have an agent.

What is the age range to be an actor on the show? I’m not sure if there is a definitive age range….I’d assume they deal with actors anywhere from ages 13 to the early 20’s. But the main thing is that you need to LOOK like you’re the age of a high school teenager.

What about non-acting jobs/internships? The same requirements of being Canadian apply for both of these. You need to be attending College or University to be an intern. A non-acting job on Degrassi is difficult to obtain because they rarely have openings, but they are always accepting resumes for them and for internships for future consideration. P.S. If you want to be an actor on the show and just mail them your resume, I highly doubt they’ll respond (let an agency do that for you….see above). Resumes can be sent to:

I am 13, but I’m not a Canadian Citizen. I talked to my dad about this, which came up with a dilemma. He says if I get the part, then we’ll move to Canada (I live in the US) but if I don’t then there’s no point. :( I really want to audition but as you said I kind of can’t.

im 15, i live in canada but i dont have an agent. i know that you have to have one but i really dont want to spend money on an agent if i cant get a part. :/ i would love to play a deaf person or something on Degrassi because i think it needs a person like that on the show. If someone could reccommend a low cost agent that is not a fraud, it would be super helpful!

Hi Amy, You don’t pay to have an agent. You audition for them, and if you get the role, they get 15% of the money you make from the show.

erm… degrassi is a show about highschool life. It deals with some pretty… well, adult situations. She’s 11 and the age MINIMUM is 13.

Hi Ms Kary I’m Sidney, a future Degrassi actor. No I’m not Canadian, but guess what I can act like crazy! I’ve seen EVERY episode of Degrassi back since like 2004.. When I was like 6 and it was bad for me😂 I didn’t (I snuck and watch it) it’s to the point where I watch all new episodes WHENEVER it comes on! I Just love drama shows. Well I’m in Theatre 3.. I think we all like them. I’m a Junior and kinda weird lol. Sometimes I relate to the other people in tv and in reality.. I follow all of them on instagram☺️ But I always thought if I could be on any show.. And do my favorite thing “act” I might as well do it on my favorite show!!! I’m a Canadian, but I was born in Nigeria. I am black, but im a faire skind type of black, I have short dark brown hair (rough and frizzy) I have brown eyes and I’m about 5,6 ft. I love fashion and acting, but the thing is I don’t have an agent, so maybe one day that I have enough money to get one, I would be more than happy to be on the show! My favourite actor and actress on the show are Dallas and Imagin and Ali, Drew, Connor, Adam, Emily, Jenna, Tristan, Jake, Sav, Snake, Just everyone! I love the show so much that I can’t stop!!! You dont have to have an agent! I auditioned a couple years ago without and agent and got like two callbacks. I also auditioned again just last year, and I still don’t have an agent so I don’t know where you heard that lol

I am 16 years old. I’ve been watching Degrassi for a couple years now and can even remember the first episode I watched. It was the one where Emma had to go to the hospital for symptoms of anorexia. I am currently waiting for Season 5 of Degrassi: Next Class to come out, although I’m sad Maya and the rest of her friends might not return. Degrassi is one of my favorite shows because I like the drama and they cover a variety of topics. I wish I could audition to be in it but I don’t live in Toronto, nor do I have an agency. Do you think it would be possible to get a small role for maybe just a few episodes?
