[WARNING: This post contains spoilers about Degrassi: Next Class Season 4, which has yet to air as of writing this.]

All this time I’ve been telling everyone to expect audition info around March of 2017, because Degrassi is pretty routine and all we have to go on are past results. That’s also the reason everyone is getting antsy over the Season 3 trailer that hasn’t been released yet, because a trailer was already out this time last year.

So naturally that means they’d release audition information three months earlier than expected.

Degrassi’s casting director, Larissa Mair, has posted the casting call for Degrassi: Next Class Seasons 5 & 6 (you’ll also see both seasons referenced together internally as “Degrassi 17”). This audition is different from most we’ve seen because you’re not auditioning for the role of a specific character, they’re casting a wide net as they look to replace the large group of characters graduating in Season 4. It looks like they’re trying not to pigeonhole themselves by searching for a specific type. They’re also looking for both LEAD and RECURRING characters.

So here’s the key info:

*As expected, the S4 graduation means they’d look to bring in younger characters; they’re looking for boys and girls ages 13-14. Open ethnicity.

*You MUST BE A CANADIAN CITIZEN. You also need to be able to work in Toronto (ex: Dante lives hours away from T.O., but he was able to make it there to shoot Degrassi over the summer).

*You must submit your audition tape by Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 3pm. Don’t wait around to get this done, I wanna see your face on Degrassi!

    1. This I’m not really sure of. Maybe in a couple of weeks? I’m not sure when they have callbacks or when they need to solidify the new cast members by.

  4. 13 to 14? Are they going to go back to covering Grade 7 or something? Does the school even have grade 7’s anymore? It was never stated they weren’t still grade 7-12 but it sure has not been written like it was in a long time.

    1. Unfortunately we don’t know when the next auditions will be…the show isn’t filming at the moment and we don’t know when they’ll pick up again. I’ll make sure to post any audition information as soon as it becomes available!
