Would it really hurt them to have a dieting storyline that doesn’t involve cleanses, anorexia or bulimia? There’s nothing wrong about a healthy diet with exercise. I don’t know why they always have to go the most over the top, dramatic route, especially when we’ve seen this storyline play out several times already.
And I totally forgot Owen existed until that promo. They clearly have no use for him.
i completely disagree with you. I’m glad they’re covering eating disorders again. Its a very serious topic, and a lot of people(specially teens) suffer from it. they just need to do it right and not just drop it and resolve it in an episode or two( like they did with katie). Having and ed is like being an alcoholic. You’re always going to have it. it never goes away, you just learn to control it. Take it from me, I’ve been battling with ednos (i have anorexia with bulimia tendencies, yet my BMI is too high to be considered anorexic) since i was 14, I’m almost 20. My trigger was much like Tristans. I was never really over weight, but I felt i was too big for the boy i liked to like me back. This story line has lots of potential ( although the writers are most likely going to ruin it) growing up with an ed is really hard and it can really ruin your life. Its very relatable and i think thats why they keep bringing this story line back. After all reliability is what makes degrassi such a good show.
My problem with the eating disorder plot is they keep doing it wrong. Toby’s was a joke. Emma’s was good, minus the fact it wrapped up after one two-parter. They should’ve strung it along longer than that. Katie’s, I don’t really consider an eating disorder plot because it was in the past and she had it under control.
Tristan’s plot is already doomed. It’s a B-plot, and I know he doesn’t have a plot next episosde, so I know for a fact that it’s going to wrap up easily. It’s a shame because this plot has so much potential, because it’s a guy, not a girl. I could write this plot so much better. If they would have thrown in Tristan wondering if his weight is stopping him from finding love before in any plot of his, at least this plot wouldn’t feel random and out of nowhere and rushed. Plus, an eating disorder plot won’t be done right as a B-plot.
Please, Degrassi Writers, take notes. You guys make so many plots with so much potential that end up lackluster. That being said, I’ll still watch and probably enjoy Tristan’s plot, I just wish it would be more.
they should keep the b plot on for longer or create like some webisode about eating disorders cuz honestly it is a big issue…I have symptoms of eating disorders and rly bad stomach cramps for a few days after that cuz i didn’t think not eating was a big deal so i didn’t eat that much. So they should rly address the message that eating is very much a priority cuz that’s rly what people can’t wrap around their heads when society is literally in your face about “BEING SKINNY!” and even sometimes about “BEING FATTER/ CURVIER” i may have not had an eating disorder but, those symptoms i had rly affected me and my grades and it’s just not worth it… They should especially talk about cleansing cuz that shit sounds disgusting and rly unhealthy
Character A makes good life choices!
Character B+C: Congrats on your good life choices!
And then they can all just go home for the next 40 minutes because THERE IS NO PLOT.
Stupid choices are a requirement for plotlines to go somewhere in Teen Dramas.
Sorry, I love Fiona but her obsessing for Natatlie’s approval is overwhelming for me. (baby steps, Miss Fiona). I can see this may go badly with Imogen and trust issues with in their relationship. This was one of the big reasons why Imogen broke up with Eli. Was obsession and lack of communication. These are big issues that can cause failing relationships of any age.
Tonight’s episode was interesting. As much as I don’t really care about Allie anymore, I like the idea of the caffeine pills. This was also done by Michelle in the old old Degrassi (Degrassi High). I didn’t like the part with Dave, I don’t really see the point, it really only served to introduce Allie to Dallas. Oh Dallas, he just oozes charisma. I don’t know why but he’s a perfect character at this point for me (with the few things we’ve seen of him for now). He always adds something interesting and he’s so much fun to watch. And if I got it right, he did say that he’s actually doing his high school very slowly which means he could still be there next season (let’s hope so).
I found it kind of hard to watch Tristan’s plot cause I could relate so much. I’ve been in his shoes, still kind of am. I found it really interesting the way Maya and Tori reacted differently to the cleanse idea. I love it when supporting characters add something to a plot. Tori who’s a fan of glamour and pageant is probably no stranger to this weight-losing methods (not like she does it herself but she’s probably seen other girls). On the other side we have Maya, who’s sister is bullimic so her worry about Tristan’s idea is totally normal. The acting was a bit subpar sometimes but I mean come on it’s Degrassi.
Oh also! Degrassi, what is it with gays (or any couple really) and yoga class? Riley met Zane for the first time in yoga class. In older seasons, Paige met Mr. Olivander (or whatever was his name) in a yoga class he was teaching. And now…the whole yoga thing. I think Fab’s gay, I wish he is but if Degrassi wants to remain realistic, he shouldn’t date Tristan. Not that easily. He needs more hardship in a Adam kind of way.
Wait, there was a Fiona plot!? It was simple…and nice I guess. I don’t care so much. I liked the scene with Drew and Bianca so we know that they still exist.
Part 1 was nice. I feel like Part 2 will also be good without being great.
P.S: Loved seeing Cam in one scene…there’s something about his face that makes me happy.
I suspect the Cam scene arose from Dylan Everett and Melinda Shankar having worked together on the How to be Indie series. Tutoring was about the only way the writers could get those two characters in a scene together in a way that made sense.
I think the reason Fiona wants a good relationship with Imogen’s mom is because she just really wants to have a future with Imogen. My brother’s girlfriend has a wonderful relationship with all of us, and even though they’re still very young, it makes her feel so much more secure in her future with him. My cousin on the other hand, had a terrible relationship with her ex-boyfriend’s family and it kinda bled into everything. So for serious relationships, if that is want Fiona wants, it’s very important to at least have a civil relationship with the family.
I guess Stohn was right about this part of the season being relationship heavy. I had no idea parential involvement was it. But it is realistic for the parents to get involved with theirs kids relationships and problems. As in The Baker’s, about Becky and her religion. Mrs Torres and Drew & Bianca’s engagement and Fiona trying to get Imogen’s mom to like her.. So I guess the next set of parents will be Eli’s & Clare’s. My theory for Eclare is that Eli’s parents don’t know they’re dating or Clare mom will forbid them to date. Remember what Eli said to Clare about dating her again. That he is taking 10 steps back and that is something that was said in therapy..
It would be shocking if there wasn’t a season 13. Neither network has officially said they’re renewing the show, but Epitome always moves forward as if there will be another season…they’re going to start brainstorming season 13 storyline ideas in a couple of weeks!
Fasho! thanks Kary, your right. By the way I just want to say thanks for doing what your doing not just with the show but just being a guy in general who loves degrassi and not afraid to say you like it. Being a guy and watching a show like degrassi you dont really see to many other guys that like the show so its cool to acctually know that Im not the only guy who likes this show; so thanks bro your awesome!
Growing up I had a severe eating disorder, bulimia and I was 90 pounds in high school, and it lasted for years. I still have symptoms of it and was doing it not too long ago, it takes therapy and lots of it…i also agree it would be a good plot if they made it last longer!! And the thing with Alli, didnt end well either in my opinon
IDK why people were freaking out about TeenNick not showing the new promo, when they could easily just watch it on TeenNick’s website.

Well, I greatly enjoyed part 1, however, that’s the only thing I enjoyed about tonight.
The Bad: – I was completely wrong with my predictions. (I get hit in the head a lot)
– I accumulated about 1 second of ice time tonight after dropping the gloves right away
– Then I got a 10 minute misconduct right after I served my five
– Then I got benched for the rest of the game
– Then we lost!
Ugh!!! Well, at least I got to see Dylan have a scene tonight. That was worth everything.

I also really enjoyed Cam’s scene.
I’m just really enjoying his character as a whole, despite how little his scenes may be. Dallas as well.
