There’s no surprise within these promos. I understand that the network wants to wet the appetites of the fans, but, to others, theses ads won’t be their cup of tea. I, on the other hand, am willing to admit that I laughed a bit when watching the overview of what’s to come.
I don’t mean to toot my own horn (toot, toot), but I seriously think that I could do a better job writing these scripts. Probably half, if not more, of the people on here could do a better job as well.
The dialogues are very thin and do not have a lot of depth behind them. Is it that easy to get a screenwriting job? I’m writing a book anyway.
But sometimes I just wish I could get my hands on some Degrassi scripts. I’d take them to new heights!
I wasn’t impressed by this degrassi episode,part 2 probably will be better but still not as good as the summer episodes. Seriously with Adam and Becky playing with french fries.. and Jake was on marijuana when he did his film project and Eli taking marijuana from Jake in hopes of relaxing to make a better film. I was hoping to see more of niner’s interactions. I hope there is more depth in the episodes the rest of the season.
have to admit that the episode wasn’t that great, but every show always have that one not-so-good season. Give it chance, its only the first episode of the fall block. Besides, if you think its soo horrible, than dont watch anymore. I can still see the show going on for another couple years. they alreay lasted 35 years (something like that). there are still millions of fans who will still watch it.
The thing that worries me as that the WRITING was probably the worst part about the episode.
I wouldn’t be so concerned if I only had a problem with the content. This is easily solved by them delivering more interesting storylines and better material as the season progresses.
But the writing? That’s not something that just gets better or worse from episode to episode. As we’ve noticed with Degrassi in the past, shitty writing tends to come as a seasonal package. Almost the entire block of Showdown had great writing. Almost the entire block of New Beginnings had subpar writing.
I’ll wait til part 2 to make my conclusions, but if the rest of Building a Mystery showcases writing as lame as the first part, I’ve lost hope for the rest of 12B.

Hopefully the writing picks up between part 2 and the next two episodes or else this season will most likely be another boring, New Beginnings or In too Deep. Those seasons, I’ve lost interest in and I just come back in time for the Summer block.
I’m not freaking out over the bad writing because of course, there’s going to be off episodes, but I was hoping the off episodes would be similar to Say It Ain’t So and Closer To Free – not 100% cringeworthy, but not one of the best either. I seriously thought that if 12B and 12C were exactly like Showdown, Season 12 would hands down be the best season ever. But I have a bad feeling the second half of this season is just gonna ruin everything.
i can agree that the degrassi writers have lost their touch, but that doesnt mean you can go and say that its horrible now. for some of us, we dont want to here it. If you truely love degrassi, why are you bascially acting like a hater? We dont care if you think that the writing is soo horrible
To be honest, my love for Degrassi is what makes me criticize it so meticulously. I don’t want it to lose the magic that attracted me to it in the first place.

I cannot wait for the next episode. Becky is sweet and kind and the reassuring hand holding under the table during the dinner scene was great.
