Degrassi Recap: Hangout With Aislinn Paul

Aislinn Paul did a sit-down chat with fans from the show and answered their questions.  Degrassi set up a google hangout so a handful of fans could video chat with her, and the rest of us were able to watch the livestream through youtube.  You can watch the entire hangout session below.  I’ve also recapped all of the questions that were asked with paraphrased answers and direct links to each of Aislinn’s answers (the video is over an hour long, so scrolling through it to find specific answers would be kind of difficult).

Q: Is it easy to switch from your real-life friendships with the cast to your on-screen friendships with them? Do outside situations ever affect that?
A: Sometimes it can be hard, like with Melinda and I…Alli and Clare rarely argue. But when they do, we’ll come onto set and it’ll be a regular day for us, just hanging out and joking around and then all of a sudden I have to argue with her, or be mad at her or her be mad at me.  It’s weird because they’ll call “cut” and I’ll be like “Oh wait, are we friends again in real life?”

Q: What projects do you have after Degrassi?
A: Right now I don’t have any projects lined up, I’m mainly focusing on school.  But yeah, I guess I’ve gotta start thinking about it soon cause Clare’s going to graduate next year I guess. (CLICK HERE for her full answer)

Q: Out of the Shark In The Water, Steal Your Heart and Bite Your Tongue promos which was your favorite to shoot and overall?
A: I still love Shark In The Water…but I also had a really good time shooting Steal Your Heart…. (CLICK HERE for her full answer)

Q: What’s you’re favorite part about working with Free The Children?
A: It’s a really amazing organization that does a lot of great things that you can see. The money doesn’t just disappear, you see where the money is going….The sense of empowerment they give young people is the most priceless thing that they do. (CLICK HERE for her full answer)

Q: If you could get one cast member back on the show who’s graduated and do a scene or storyline with them, who would it be?

Q: Are Clare and Eli in for the long haul?
A: I think that it’s definitely possible…I think there are some really special things about their relationship that you don’t always get to have. There are some unique aspects that I think keep them together. (CLICK HERE for her full answer)

Q: Who is your favorite Degrassi character?
A: Jane.  I really like how Paula played Jane and I think the character was just so spunky and tenacious……And I like Emma because I think there are a lot of things that Clare relates to with Emma……For a guy maybe I’ll just say JT because he was just so adorable and we lost him too soon. Q: Are your curls real, or are they curled?
A: Normally on set they do curl my hair, only because it’s neater than what my hair naturally does. (CLICK HERE for her full answer)

Q: Does being an actress (and being in the spotlight) take a toll on being a normal teenager and doing things like dating?
A: It has a bit of an effect on my life, but not a negative one….Degrassi and my life are opposite ends of the spectrum, but I appreciate that people are fans and want to come up and say hi. (CLICK HERE for her full answer)

Q: Who inspired you to become an actress?
