These photos are pretty great so far. Very reminiscent of the season 4 promo shots in the hallway. Becky’s brother (I can’t recall his name at the moment) really has got Landon’s serious face down to a tee.

That’s ridiculous in my opinion. The only person that can actually pull a look with heels and night clothes is actually wearing something pretty casual – Fiona. Why did they dress them up so much? Since when does bianca, marisol, katie, or imogen dress like this to go to SCHOOL? Fiona is probably the only one that would really dress up and yet she is the most casual dressed? What about Imogen’s funky style? It’s barely there! Ugh, only the new kids look like they are in character.
In a totally positive note, i love how the hallway has that war/chaos feeling. Goes nicely with the theme of SHOWDOWN! I can’t wait for the rest of these photos (ehem… Eclare!)

Um… Fiona just did a “I’m broke” storyline, so her dressing casual makes sense.
Given the direction the promos are pushing for Katie and Marisol, the punk bad girl also makes sense.
Imogen’s outfit is a bit more reserved than normal, but still has enough eccentricity to it to pass, even if it’s weak character-wise.
Bianca… I think they just wanted Alicia Josipovic in a sexy red dress. I’m not seeing any character-reasons for the outfit. But honestly, I don’t mind.

That is kind of weird, but maybe they felt she would look good in the shot? The earlier seasons’ photos generally had characters grouped by storyline, but there were some who just got randomly placed.

Ugh…Katie’s hair makes her look like a ragged Angelina Jolie. It’s very reminiscent to the hate I felt with Manny’s Season 7 blonde hair. Ew.
LOVE the new kids. Luke looks like Declan. lol. Campbell has really big feet. And Becky’s hair is creepy. Whose hair is that perfect all of the time? Even in the promos.

All the junior girls look gorg! But they’re all noticeably photoshopped.
It’s crazy to think this is going to be Clare, Alli, KC, and Connor’s 5th season already. These past seasons flew by!

Make-up? Yes.
Wig for Katie? Yes. (Not sure why, unless Katie didn’t dye her hair when the shoot was done.)
Photoshop? …Not so much. I’m not seeing any specific manipulations to the image, even if they did manipulate the subject matter.

You honestly don’t think they touch up these photos prior to them being released? You can see a glimmer on their faces.
Let’s say, for example, Melinda was having a bad skin day and had a blemish on her face, the crew would, of course, cover it with makeup and possibly/most likely photoshop it out. That’s how I was with my school’s senior pictures. The people the school hired to take the pictures decided to just photoshop everybody’s face to avoid any complaints.

You’re using conjecture, nothing noticeable and I’ve been looking them over. I’m seeing an excess of make-up, and proper lighting for the shoot. Which aren’t nefarious, its doing your job.
If they photoshopped anything, I’m not seeing it. Thus it isn’t noticeable.

I’m hoping these are plot relevant outfits. The Senior girls I could say these are prom outfits (Fi, Imogen, Bi) and plot outfits (Katie Mari). The Junior trio make me a bit less certain… given the plots on the table.
The pessimist in me is thinking with the uniforms saving budget costs they blew it all on pretty dresses. Last Season’s shoot used plot outfits even if not all of them showed up till late season (like Maya’s foxy shirt).

clare just has an olderish type of style. If you look at what she normally wears, this fits in with her look. She’s conservative and sometimes does tend to dress formal. Remember that aweful denim shirt/green shirt/cowboy belt combo? It was HIDEOUS! It did nothing for aislinn’s figure, and made me think clare didn’t own a mirror.

Me too, but there is one in front of the white background (new characters) so i’m hoping that means more new pictures!!! WHERE IS JAKE?! I just hope he gets more juice this season that doesnt relate to katie, his college story line sounds great. I felt like that other half of the season was dry on jake. He was so funny (with all his eating) at the beginning.

This season of Degrassi is going to be SO good! I can just feel it. These photos are very reminiscent to the season 4 hallway photos.
And I’m a little sad to see that Wesley isn’t there. I guess he went into the Degrassi black hole. :( Also, did the Tyler guy who plays Liam not mention that he was a regular this year? Why isn’t he in the group photo. Something tells me that isn’t so much true.
And lastly, can I just say that Jenna looks AMAZING! She’s gorgeous. But those clothes they are all wearing are really weird. This isn’t Beverly Hills, 90210. lol.

I’m absolutely loving all these promo shots. Everyone looks a little too stylized for my taste (a la CW), but I absolutely love Imogen’s dress. Like someone said before me, I’m thinking these are definitely plot relevant outfits. Clare’s outfit indicates her future at the internship, and I think Jenna’s conservative-esque dress foreshadows her efforts to appear Christian-like to the Bakers.
Welp, Eclare are clearly getting back together, haha. It’s pretty undeniable at this point. Everyone’s just gonna have to get used to it, or stop watching.
I really don’t like Bianca looking like Drew’s accessory. -_- I sincerely hope that those promos haven’t completely mislead me and Bianca tosses Drew to the curb.
Also Katie’s not wearing a wig. Chloe actually dyed her hair black.

The Chloe wig thing is from my make-up knowing friends, they say her bangs are too thick. My theory is that her hair dying came later, and the wig is a stop-gap if she starts Series 12 with her natural hair. Cause they seemed pretty sure on that.
I dunno, he hair does look different from the promo pics and the S12 trailers, but I’m not really an expert on the issue.

I agree with you, I know some people took issue with Photoshop (see above) and how supposedly there was none, but come on, if you think this pics are all great lightly and make up, then wouldn’t they look this flawless in video? Yes they do look pretty in video, but most of the time we can see a zit or two (most of them are a)teenagers and b)human). Doesn’t make me like the pics any less honestly. Anyways, i do think she is wearing a wig here, either that or has some photoshop done to make them look fuller. It’s very different from her hair in the bite you tongue promo. While i hated (blonde manny type of hate) her hair in the promo, i actually like it here (its the bangs, they look so much better).
I’m totally saying they are reusing/re-twisting the boyfriend-drama-cheater-causes-her-to-go-goth/emo/dark, a la ashley. I’m so excited for this season!

where the hell is jake??? He was obvi at the shoot, because there he is way in the back almost hidden away by new kid and new kid. It makes me sad. I hope they don’t throw him away after being useless next to clare just because there is no more cake. ugh, don’t dump him in the degrassi black hole after his college and katie plotline degrassi writters!

ohh i love eclare too! Makes me sad some people hate them. Guess i would too if i thought their constant advertisement was annoying.
Anyways i was watching epi 45 again (my season 11 marathon) and I don’t think Eli, when he asked clare about “picking up where we left off”, meant going back to their romantic relationship. I think he meant going back to being friends, because right before he asks that question he says that all their feelings are in the past. So why follow up a statement about being over each other romantically, with a question about going back to a romantic relationship? Then clare answers that she doesn’t want to be “a trigger for your issues”, he looks puzzled and ask why she would be one. THEN he is confused (because they are talking about different things) and asks “why would you be?”
So in my mind its all very obvious. At the actual frostival when they reconnect he looks more confused than anything. I’m not saying they aren’t getting back together (im sure they will… it would actually be extremely odd for degrassi NOT to put them back together… kinda like Crellie, resisting the urge just to please fans). I just think he really didn’t mean to go looking for them to restart their relationship, so ironically that’s what causes them to maybe get back together. Specially for the most part of his pre diagnosis he dead set on getting clare back. Nice circle of life that when you want something so bad, you get denied and then when aren’t looking for it you get it.
Sigh, sorry for my incredibly long post. I hope someone actually reads it and replies, i might be so off base here.

I love the way they did that, with the full-circle thing you mentioned. At the end of Extraordinary Machine, I felt that Eclare was over but at the back of my mind (or heart?) I hoped that something would bring them back together after much time passed. And at the end of Dead and Gone with the hospital scene, I knew that their story couldn’t be over yet.

I think it’s more of the actress that plays maya that is uncomfortable being that close to the guy, or posing. Maybe they shot the pictures before the season started filming and that’s why she looks so uncomfortable because of the promos, she looks pretty comfortable with the kissing, it looks cute and not awkward, unlike these pictures. Or she is just uncomfortable with the posing.
OMG all these new photos make my heart SWELL of joy! But WTF is ali doing with mike?? oh, oh, is ali going to have a thing or be attracted to the homophobe who is going to probably be actively involve with the bashing of eli’s play which involves 2 gays dudes, one of whom is played by ali’s current bf DAVE? or is this a set up? UGH, why can’t jake just go without a girl for a while, what about BUILDING up and DEVELOPING a character before you try to develop a relationship. This just makes me personally not care about jake (which is a shame because i think the actor is GREAT, really really talented) no matter how cute jake and katie look. How the hell am i suppose to care about a relationship if i don’t care about the ppl in it? Like katie, i don’t think we have really SEEN what this girl is about outside of her relationship with drew. The bulimia storyline came way to soon, before we cared about her and she had so much potential as an over achiever, than BAM you stick her with drew, and everything revolves around him. At least that’s all i’m seeing.

The photo shoot in general looks cool. Alot of the actors look WAY more polished than the normal highschool student. And im sorry, but as pretty as Aislinn is in real life, here she looks really really fake. I don’t know whether it’s photoshop or just pounds of makeup, but they aren’t keeping it very realistic.

…She’s still wearing the “Promise” ring, which for those that remember their Degrassi history is the ring Spinner gave Darcy way back when (cheaper to reuse the prop). It sorta looks like Eli’s skull ring if the quality isn’t in the image, but she still has the ring on.
