Above is the list of main characters for Season 11. Notice that Sadie and Jess (two names people assumed would be bumped up, but I have no clue why because they barely contributed anything to begin with) aren’t on the list. Almost half of the characters are seniors, so we can expect a steady stream of newcomers to fill that void over the coming years (assuming the show will be continued after Season 12).
Now on an EClare note, to me looking at this list solidifies my belief they are not “endgame” or whatever it is the fans say. It’s nothing against EClare…heck I believe they’re going to get back together before Eli graduates. But with the way Degrassi’s resolved to deal with graduating characters, I have such an incredibly hard time believing that EClare will exist as a legitimate couple after Eli graduates.

I’m getting so incredibly restless with the lack of Degrassi news. Yes, there’s ALWAYS something going on in the Degrassi universe (Munro and Aislinn were at WE Day yesterday, fans everywhere watched the debut of Landon’s show Terra Nova on Monday, I believe Ray and Charlotte went on a trip to Kenya, and there may or may not be a cast reunion someday)…but what about news about the actual show itself??
Right now we’re in that void where we could receive news any day now, but at the same time everyone’s being extremely vague. Even Stephen Stohn’s tweets make roll my eyes now because no one is saying anything. Lauren Toyota (who works at Much Music) tweeted that Bleeding Love will air on October 24th, but we also know that Much and TeenNick will be airing the episode on different days…we just have no clue when TeenNick will be airing it. Not even Kyle from CableTVTalk knows what’s going on, and he usually receives TeenNick’s press report around this time every month. But since we’re headed into October you should be on high alert from here on that a TeenNick promo could pop up at any moment.

I assume it’ll be the same way they did it with Season 10, with Now Or Never being released during the summer and part 2 released in the fall. Also, Craig isn’t coming back. And they aren’t going to change her name back to Angela. We’ve begged and pleaded, but they won’t do it lol

I have, it’s just a matter of finding the time (and motivation to do it). But as “Degrassi restless” as I feel right now I have a feeling it’ll be so bad from now until 2012 that I’ll have no choice but to start churning reviews of old eps just to keep the site from becoming a complete dead zone :-p

Really happy that they added Mo to the main cast. He’ll definitely provide some comic relief. He’s also the last cast member since Spinner where you could confidently say he is not a homosexual.

I’d love to see you review some older episodes, you should start with the episode before Jane Says (aka when you starting reviewing more consistantly) or you can do Degrassi Jr high and high and maybe get download links so people can learn more about classic Degrassi at the same time :D

Okay, so… This is the absolute worst hiatus yet. It’s lovely news to hear that Mo is the only addition to the cast other than the Freshmen while everyone else stays, as well as getting pictures of readthroughs and new episode titles… But I can’t take this. They’ve even stopped showing the Nowhere To Run promo. Seeing as how they’re still going to shoot blocks of 4, they’ll only be filming for about a month. Therefore, I’m hoping that we can get a promo for the Degrassi Haiti special after Nowhere To Run. We should get a Season 11 promo after the Haiti special. I don’t understand why they’re waiting until Degrassi returns to air Highland Gardens. With only 6 episodes so far, it’d be a great way to tie us over.

Hello Kary, great job on the blog. How about this for a blog entry: a ranking of the best and worst actors/actresses on Degrassi TNG/Degrassi?
Personally, I thought that Charlotte Arnold is the best actress to work on the show and I will miss her in the upcoming season. The worst would probably be Jamie Johnston, because I felt he was always so wooden in most episodes he was in.

Jamie Johnston had his fair share of poor performances, but I personally thought Nina Dobrev was the worst. She was AWFUL in The Bitterest Pill, I felt no emotion from her. You would think your boyfriend being murdered might make you a tad sadder…

I’m counting relevant mains here, and Leia definitely doesn’t count, haha. Riley may have been emotionless when nothing major was happening to him, but he was emotional when it counted (Beat It).

life is unfair… why are they following the rules now? people who have started off as juniors are seniors, so they would only be on for 2 seasons… tisk tisk… *shakes head*

This is why they should have started over with a new set of 7th and 8th graders at some point in time, because then you could get at least a solid 5/6 seasons of out them. I know I felt the closest to the original TNGers because we got to see them grow up (and many of us may have grown up alongside them), so having someone come on as a junior and then leave us a year later doesn’t really have the same impact.
What they should have done is stop introducing niners and just focus on the juniors and seniors. Then during the following season while the juniors move up to being seniors, they could slowly introduce another younger set, totally separate from the seniors. Then once the seniors are gone, we’d have an 8th and 9th grade class for another 4 seasons and roll with that. By the time that final class graduated, Degrassi will probably have to call it a day. As much as I enjoy the show and franchise, I don’t think it’s necessary to continue on forever.

Seems like they are sort of doing what they did in season 8. Focusing on the grade 9, 11, and 12.
I think it’s like they do generations in twos.
Paige/Marco/Ellie’s grade with Emma/Manny/Toby’s grade

Eli/Drew/Bianca’s grade with Clare/Adam/Jenna’s grade.
So now they are introducing new freshman again and will probably feature the class above them in season 12 or 13.

I bet that at least two students in the current senior class are going to stay behind. That’s a BIG group of kids to focus on. The numbers of graduating classes up until now have been very small. In s5 the grads were Paige, Alex, Ellie, Hazel, and Marco. In s7 we had Emma, Manny, Liberty, Spinner, Toby, Jimmy, and Damien. In s9 we had Jane, Danny, Peter, and Johnny. This year the grads were Holly J, Anya, Sav, Riley, Chante, and Zane. It is assumed that *10!* MAIN characters are going to be graduating at once, now. I find that highly unlikely, especially since half of them were only introduced during the current season. I’m sure that we’ll have a few characters being held back (in s7 we had 3: Spinner, Jimmy, and Ashley, so it isn’t totally farfetched to have several kids stay behind).
I think that Drew is a likely candidate. It’s well-known that he isn’t the brightest kid, so I can see him failing a class or two, and needing to stay behind. He’s also become a fan favourite, this season.
I also think that the writers are going to find a way to keep Eli around for as long as they can. Munro’s one of the strongest actors on the show, and it’d be suicide for the writers to get rid of one of the most popular characters on the show too soon. Maybe he’ll need to be hospitalized, and end up needing to make up for time lost?
ALSO, maybe one of the seniors will be killed off? It’s not that I want to see a character die, but it’d be a great way to trim the fat off such a huge group of students. I’d have no problem seeing Katie kick the bucket. 1. I don’t like her. 2. the writers have never killed a prominent female character, so it’d be new to the show. 3. I think it’d be REALLY interesting seeing Maya cope with the death of her older, more popular sister, and trying to live up to her legacy.

I wish degrassi would bring in some 7th and 8th graders too. So that way we can watch them mature and grow with there charcter. I feel like we didnt get a chance to see enough of Eli yet. Next years gonna be hes last yr there. it would have been nice to have him start off a shopmore like Clare. And Drew also. We need to see him mature mature and grow into his own without a girlfriend. I wanna see more. I was so happy this season with him. We saw him deal with gang violance. I wanna see more things like that from him. No more girlfriend drama. I just hope we get a chance to see Conner grow and get a girlfriend. The same for wesley. I wanna see him grow out of the nerdy look. I want him to be more confident about him self Hell both Conner and wesley should be. I wanna see them interact more with other ppl Btw I know this is off topic but is Conner fully black? Because he looks mixed with black and something else..

Degrassi needs new cheerleaders. All they have is Jenna. Its been so many girls on the sprit squad/power squad in the past. Paige,Hazel,Chnatay,Manny,Darcy,Holly J,and Mia. We need a freash new set! What do you guys have to think?

I think this list of characters may be going in order of “importance”. Eli will have the most active part in the upcoming episodes. Just a guess…
I definitely don’t think EClare is “endgame”. They will definitely revisit that storyline. It was a really popular so it would make sense. They already got rid of a great actress in Charlotte Arnold (I remember her from Naturally Sadie days and I use to LOVE that show) and now they only have Munro so I’m thinking they’ll try to hold onto him and Drew (big fan base) as long as they can.
I agree with everything Nina said in an earlier post. They should kill off a senior but they could kill Katie and “get away” with that in that I don’t many people would care. Try killing off someone like Imogen or Jake. Seems more unexpected to me.
Btw, Raising Hope is one of my FAVE shows. Hope is such a cute baby, Virginia and Bert are the most hilarious parents EVER, and MawMaw is a mess in the best sense of the word.

I am quite surprised they aren’t promoting the episode more, but they also might not have much to show because it is just an hour long episode. They can only show so much without giving it away. But hopefully after the episode airs we’ll get a promo for the episodes in 2012! :)
