Degrassi Extra recap for Extraordinary Machine Pt. 1

What We Learned From This Episode
*Argiris Karras is really good at playing a bad actor
*If Jay were still around he’d be selling those pills Eli pretends to swallow
*I prefer the mustang over Morty
*”Fritz” or “Jack” will be the one with the knife, but we all know in the end they’ll just blame Chantay
*RANDOM DANCIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING

What do you think Eli will do? He had a random lighter, maybe burn down the school?
And I heard something about him having a gun…maybe he’ll shoot himself? :(
Tell me what you think o3o

from the promos, it looks like he will light the script on fire, which doesn’t seem like a big deal to me, especially from all the gasps from the audience and the concerned look on simpson’s face we saw in the promo. i mean, there are what? like a billion copies?

my prediction is that simpson will probably suspend eli (for starting a fire on school ground) and/or a eli will completely lose his shit in front of the entire school and his parents and they will realize he needs help and we will be left with a cliffhanger that he’ll leave school for awhile to get that help that he needs and to serve his suspension.

what the hell. i don’t really know. anything could happen..

That won’t happen just because the fact he’s in the finale and that’s when Aislinn Paul said in a interview, Eli takes it up a notch :)

I would honestly like to know what direction Anya’s plot is going in. I really didn’t pick up any vibes that could lead me to predicting what exactly will happen in part 2. I guess we’ll see!

Hahaha, Oh, Kary, you crack me up with these episodes. Keep up the good work :) They are so hilarious. And as for these TeenNick promos, they are seriously pissing me off. We all know that he’s just going to burn the damn script on stage and everyone is going to over react, especially Simpson seeing how he over reacts all the damn time. Munro’s acting was SO good in this episode, it’s so much fun to watch him work. I like the scenes with Jake and Munro, it reminds me of the good old Latest Buzz days, but with a dark twist. Sniff sniff, oh the nostalgia..

Poor Riley…. The writers made his character a joke now too. And I never thought I’d say it but Owen deserves someone better than Anya-blow

I really do love these over the top, full on drama, soap style episodes/airings of degrassi. My sister hasnt watched an episode of now or never yet and she saw a bit of the episode today and was freaking out! Shes like “its too much drama too quick! its not realistic” but to me….its basically just showing how in life, people can hit an all time low (drew and anya), an all time high (alli and holly j’s lives picking up/all their good news) all at once. People hear rumors about Drew and his situation, but not everyone knows the details. The degrassi writers do a good job at making the viewer realize that even though things may seem over the top or too much at once, it really does happen like that in real life. You never know what is going on with people outside of school.

They really don’t know what to do with Bianca, eh? Sad. She could be such a great character.

It’s like they are giving her the Zane/Blue treatment but at the same time they want her to grow but it has to be at Drew’s expense which is ridiculous. I think Bianca has earned a right for a A plot and I would love to see what they could do with her story wise.

I agree. I wasn’t really too fond of her last season, but I’ve enjoyed her more since the premiere episode. It’s never a good thing when you’re featured in the credits, but only a supporting character.

With a few rare exceptions, I’ve noticed that unless you’re given a set of parents (or parent), the writers don’t really have much use for you as a sole character. You’re forced to support others in A plots and if you’re lucky, you get 1 or 2 B/C plots over the course of your tenure.

Something tells me that Katie will be the next set of parents we meet from this batch of newbies, probably in the second half of the season when we meet her younger sister Maya.

Did anyone else want to smack KC…again?

I understand that he wants to hold on to any stability/kind of stable family in his life, but he NEEDS to realize what’s best for him down the road…as well as Jenna’s needs and wants.

Also, Imogen is starting to annoy me. Just saying. She could’ve stopped Eli, and we all still would’ve gotten the message about how mentally unstable the kid is.

The only plot line I liked was Anya’s…from the commercial on the TV in the bathroom, my guess is that she’ll join the Canadian army.

So far I still think Kary is right, this has potential to be great or horrible. It all depends on what happens in part two with all the stories.

I think Stephen Stohn said this episode was great without being crazy over the top with a death or something. So even though he overhypes I still hope this is a good one.

BTW anyone else notice they haven’t shown a whole lot from the episode Drop It Like It’s Hot? (Originally titled Poker Face). I feel like that’s those are the one episodes they haven’t featured in the promos that much, other than Alli playing poker.

I agree with Crookshanks. It looks as though Anya will join the Canadian National Guard. I am really enjoying her storyline this season with the feelings of failure and her use of coke. She is NOT spiraling out of control with it, nor is she on the verge of death or suicide or anything as dramatic; she’s simply using it as a way to cope and have fun. It looks like she will stop using it without becoming an addict or needing an intervention.

As for Eli, I just love him. I’m not a fangirl for him, but I love his character, and I love this plot with him being obsessed and still in love with Claire. Usually on Degrassi, relationships end abruptly and both parties move on so quickly. It doesn’t usually happen that way in real life. People get hung up over one another, heartbreak hurts a lot worse and lasts a lot longer than portrayed on this show. It’s refreshing (for me at least) to see someone still holding on to hope that they may still win back their ex. It’s just too bad he has to also be psycho (but that’s part of the appeal of Eli!)

Jenna and KC….yes, I was so happy when she hit him with her guitar in the other episode. I was actually cheering her on. He thinks he can just leave her and the baby at home while he goes out cheating and having fun? And that everything will magically be ok? But again, it is refreshing to see someone trying to hold to a relationship rather than simply and easily moving on. I hope he continues to try to hold on to Jenna for a while longer, but I hope they give Tyson to that family. Ty deserves to be brought up in a better environment than the one KC and Jenna can provide.

    Can’t wait for part 2!
