I feel like she has no purpose… We havent been able to learn anything about her except that she seems to be a cougar (shes older than kc, right?). I think we As an audience would be more open tto her involvement in the storylines if we got a background about her rather than seeing her randomly thrust into the school
After all, “EVERYONE LOVES A FOOTBALL STAR! LOLOLOL”

I have totally started to warm up to Jenna after 2 seasons of finding her annoying and trampy. I actually feel kind of bad for her since KC clearly doesn’t want any responsibilities when it comes to his child and he seems far less interested in Jenna than ever now that he’s spending time with Marisol.

I don’t think Marisol’s nothing like Chantay… She’s most deff-deff not the new Chantay for we know nothing about her so far. We are just experiencing what we had to go through with Bianca.
Bianca made comments and was just there.

Now Bianca is showing more than just a ‘JUST THERE’ character.
As for Marisol, Soon we will learn thing about her.

I personally, find it exciting too see Clare…adding more Flare too her life. [*snicker* ryhme] Considering half of the degrassi fans claim how “bored” they are of her.Well the writers shut them up by shoving a slapping peice of Cake in there face. I personally am not surprised by the way she’s unfolding. After a severe breakup, divorce, seeing her mom as a prior example, seeing her boyfriend hang around a physco, and just her growing as a woman all together. This is somewhat a reflection of Darcy, minus hottie-mc-hottie peter and…rufee’s O_o. But, same principals, both experienced traumas…tragedies in there life and are seeking escape through…sexual nature. [eli-smirk]. I’m still rooting for Eclare personally, . And I believe Jake benefits Clare, where as with Imogen she is doing nothing but playing Eli’s mind. Not too mention the burden of Eli’s unresolved issues when he was with Clare. There for, I don’t admire Cake. however I do have respect for Jake, and if Clare chooses Jake. Though it would break my heart, it would be easier too endure through out the series.

I died laughing at your ‘Shut up, Marisol’ because I was thinking that when she popped up and also being like Marisol, the boy you are cheating on has a kid, that is a no-no. But, oddly I find myself actually liking her. I am glad they now have a new character that just does stuff to cause drama. She could have been what I always envision Chantay as being without all the hate. But, Marisol is probably hated alot already because people see her as a homewrecker, I just see KC as being a douche.

The Dave & Alli plot was definitely my favorite of the 3. I wanted Dalli 2 happen but when did Alli start liking Dave? When the dude was unattainable? But I’m still happy Dalli might happen. Hopefully it wnt end like Janny did (JT & Manny) but I think thats where its headed. Clare/Jake/Katie thing is funny. I think Clare is ready 2 hav her cherry popped. I dnt recommend Drew 2 be grabbing Adam like that because we all know Drew cnt fight & Adam would whoop his ass.lol.

I was mad when Marisol was made a main character because even from the tiny snippets we saw of her last season I didn’t like her at all. She is definitely the new Chantay. As for Dave and Alli, I liked that storyline a lot because it was realistic and I could relate to it. I’m pretty sure Dalli is going to happen. I just hope Dave doesn’t cheat on Sadie (although who knows from the new promo).
Cake… yum. XD At first I wanted to like Katie because she was the only new character not introduced specifically to be someone’s love interest, but so far she’s just a bitch. I find her very unlikeable. She even speaks in a snotty tone of voice. Clare is becoming such a drama queen! When did that happen? I’m starting to notice she has to make a big deal out of everything, and this episode is no exception. Hopefully Jake will be good for her and help her calm down. I want them to become a serious couple though! I think they’re cute together. And if they don’t, Clare will probably end up getting hurt because she really doesn’t seem like the ‘casual relationship’ type. I’m excited to see where this goes.
As for Drew, I really don’t care what happens. Does anything else think Drew is gonna die at the end of Now or Never? The summer finale IS called Dead and Gone…

No. I have my money on Holly J. No major character has ever died on Degrassi from an illness, and I think this could be the first. And I think the reason why they aren’t showing it in the promo is because they WANT you to believe that Drew or someone else is going to die, only to detour to someone who they led you to believe would be okay. I could be completely wrong, but that’s just what I’m guessing.

As for the Marisol thing. I was excited they made her regular. Just like Darcy, only she’s going in a different route. They made Darcy a regular and all her plots were circling around Spinner. Boring! But then she gets real plots, strorylines. The pictures on the internet and her strongest was being raped.
So don’t judge from what you are seeing now, because in the future we all should make judgement.

Marisol being the new Chantay has nothing to do with color either. It’s all about her gossiping and being an overall busy-body bitch. If they were to write Hannah like that, I would have said the same thing. In the Degrassi world, I don’t consider Marisol to be that important and I say the same thing about Chantay, yet they’re both rude and kind of nosy, hence the comparisons.
I also called Jake the new Peter because that is how he’s written, not because they both happen to be white. Jake’s already being lusted upon by 3 girls that we know, which boggles the mind just as much as it did when Emma, Manny, Darcy and Mia fell for Peter. None of that made sense, yet it happened.
Degrassi writers don’t really think too much outside the box, which is why so many new characters are similar to earlier iterations. When TNG started, JT was clearly written as a Joey Jeremiah type character and both JT/Toby were kind of like the Yik and Arther of the DJH days. The same can be said about Wesley and Connor now.

And now that you mention it, i definitely see the parallels between djh and ttg. Speaking of djh, i got kind of a spooky feeling when i watched the new ttg promo and heard “showtime” ( i dont remember who said that, i want to say drew but idk) because “showtime” was the name of the degrassi high episode where claude killed himself and snake found his body in the bathroom.
I know it was just a coincidence but it totally creeped me out haha

@bizzy bone – I totally LOL’d at “gay Jimmy” but that’s an accurate description.
Imogen is kind of like very early Ellie, but far crazier. Ellie was much more laid back, but was still funky and weird in her own way.
@Raelindsey – I just re-watched Showtime Parts 1 and 2 on YT and it’s one of the better episodes of DH. If they ever do a suicide on the show now, even if they don’t have Snake find the body, they should flashback to the bathroom scene. It was so powerful and really took it’s toll on Snake. It would be a great throwback to the original series.

Heck it doesn’t just extend to characters, in the earlier seasons of TNG there were episodes that were DIRECT ripoffs of DJH episodes. The Degrassi writers don’t think extremely far out of the box in character/storyline aspects, but can we really blame them? They have the same mentality that nearly everyone does, which is to keep re-using things that have worked in the past…or re-work things that didn’t to try and make them better. Rarely are people thinking so far outside of the box to create something completely and refreshingly original. It’s usually one person doing something, then everyone else mimicking them but putting their own spin on it…in Degrassi’s case they’re just copying themselves lol.

@scottyb that would be so intense. that woul be crazy to have snake find a student in the bathroom ( therefore flashing back to his DH days). Even though it will not most likely happen it would be a way to give snake a storyline that explored his psyche. We havent been inside his head at all since his cancer storyline. That would be a great connector to the pasy series as well as a way to give the newer fans a different side of snake rather than just the school principal

i for one love MARISOL she is cute.. perky … and an all around fun girl :) i would rather hang with her character than any other.. it seems like their going to make her the homewrecker, when kc is obviously all on her. i hope she find her a new dude maybe dave or some new hottie in the future

Acually I am kinda liking the Cake so far to my suprise. They just have something about em’ that seem to draw me in. But i think this season is great and its only the first episodes. I am loving the way they are setting up the plots, MAJOR improvments. Like how the episode plots are in order, im loving it. and i definality agree with you, Kary with the walk on scenes, I seriously dont know how they came up with such a good order for the episodes and plots but they have an A for that in my book.
