As I type this some of the cast are on set for a read-through for the first several episodes after Now Or Never. Tis a nice surprise since I was expecting this to be a slow week for news updates here on DegrassiBlog. Stephen Stohn tweeted the episodes they’re reading through:

Don’t forget that these episodes aren’t airing until fall, and they’ll be only airing one of them a week. I hope they fix the pacing issues/lack of cliffhangers that plagued the final 24 episodes of Season 10.

Q&A
I was wondering, which character is your favorite of all time? And maybe character gradings? What are your predictions on Eli/Clare season 11? Do you think there will be closure? You mentioned somewhere that Eli and Jake have a scene together? Do you think that this will be about Clare?

I think Craig has to be my favorite character of all time. Though this show has an ensemble cast, he took the reins of the show. Even if it was completely ridiculous, there was never a dull moment when Mr. Manning was around.
Personally, I don’t like the idea doing character grades. The characters are constantly changing, so there is no single grade that can define a character forever. Plus there’s the fact that it’d be extremely to assess some characters, while nearly impossible to assess others. I mean what kind of grade does one give to a character like Sadie…someone who we’ve seen for all of two seconds? I’ve come up with a “Power Ranking” system for the characters, I just haven’t gotten around to posting it yet.
I haven’t thought of any predictions for EClare because I don’t really wanna try and figure that out. I’m not a big fan of trying to predict what’s going to happen in an upcoming season, I’d rather just wait and see. But I do think there will be some sort of closure between them. And yes, one can assume that the Jake/Eli interaction will be about Clare.

Hey man I am a huge fan of Degrassi!!! I have been watching it since Degrassi Jr. High!!! I just wanted to point out the video promo from the MMVA at the end of the promo you see a hand with blood near it, and I believe it may b Eli because if you look he is wearing a black coat and on his right hand he is wearing the braclet that looks very very very close to the one Eli wear’s. Let me know your thoughts man!!! Also congrats on the 3 million pass!!!

Thank you!!! I guess that’s Eli, but at the same time I wonder if it’s someone involving the Drew/Bianca storyline. I don’t know, I just wonder why Eli’s in the road…then again he is kinda weird :-p

Kary, I saw that you were answering questions. For my blog, I was doing a poll for all of the Degrassi bloggers who’d like to. Maybe you’d like to do it as well. Unfortunately I can only list six…after that the rest of them seem to just blur together:
1) Sean/Ellie: A couple that compliments each other perfectly. Usually one person in a Degrassi couple has issues that the other can’t handle, but these two somehow managed to balance each other out.
2) Peter/Darcy: See description above…they are Sellie 2.0.
3) Palex: One of the great examples of establishing a relationship between two characters before they become romantically involved. And their romantic feelings felt genuine.
4) Craig/Manny: The Cranny that existed when their love was forbidden is what I’m talking about, not their reunion in Season 5.
5) JT/Liberty: They’re the couple I rooted for to get together during multiple phases of the show. Had JT not died, I’d bet all my money that they’d be the one classic couple to actually stay together. It would’ve been nice to see them as the Simon/Alexa of TNG and not stupid Spinner/Emma.
6) Clare/Eli: Though they’ve fallen apart (I don’t believe that it’s 100% over yet), rarely is time spent developing chemistry between two characters BEFORE they become a couple. Love or hate them, EClare’s beginning is a perfect example of how ships should begin.

I agree with your JT/Liberty assessment. Liberty is so serious, and JT was that perfect compliment for her- someone who lightened the mood when need be, such as when he made the suggestion to go to the movies after seeing the mountain of work she was working on while on the computer.

I agree a lot about the couples.
Sean and Ellie are my number 1 favorite!!!! Their scene together on the roof where they confirmed that they weren’t intimidated or weirded out by each other was the moment where they became my favorite. It was very honest and nice.
I agree about Paige and Alex. They had a great build up going from not interacting, to not liking each other, to being friends, and then falling in love. The story did wonders for both characters.
The only thing I don’t like about Clare and Eli are the fan reactions. I don’t think Eli and Clare should get special treatment over other couples. I think Eli and Clare were so great together and had one of Degrassi’s best love stories. Degrassi clearly knew what they were doing when they wrote them together.
Never cared for JT and Liberty too much. I agree about your assessment but personally I never saw them as being too interesting a lot of time (mainly due to the fact that Liberty is maybe my least favorite major character). I saw Liberty as a robot character until her college years and then the college stuff wasn’t fun.
Peter and Darcy. They are attractive together and cute. But anytime the whole “forbidden love” thing is over played I lose interest.

I agree with most of those couples. But, my favorite couple is KC and Clare. They actually interacted with eachother before they started dating… unlike most Degrassi couples. But, they were actually friends, first. And it was obvious they liked eachother, which had be rooting for them to get together. And there was like this subtle romance between them, unlike some other couples that just make-out.

I agree w/ Jiberty. They were one of my favorite couples. Toby and Kendra were also a couple I liked because of how much they were alike. Cnt wait 4 Season 11 but I do want more Adam, Dave, Wesley, Connor and a more interesting Fiona storyline.

Wow, I’m surprised you didn’t say Semma. What is it about the couple that doesn’t rank them in your top Degrassi couples? And what is it that you liked so much about Cranny circa S3? I stopped rooting for them after S2’s “Take My Breath Away.” I always hoped that Jiberty would be the first couple of this Degrassi incarnation to get married. Sigh… And I don’t care how much hype or hatred they get, Eclare is my favorite couple of the newer generation.

I think I liked the depth of Cranny’s storyline, I mean they were THE big plot of Season 3. Plus I preferred Cranny over Crash (Ashley always found a way to get on everyone’s nerves). I never really thought Semma was all that great.

I see what you mean about Cranny, they were extremely interesting to watch S3. I just personally didn’t like how Manny essentially became ashamed of herself because of what happened with Craig in “Take My Breath Away.” Since Craig’s your favorite character, who do you prefer him with?

I noticed that too. From what I saw she was the only one of the seniors from before that was left. So maybe the rumors are true that she doesn’t graduate with her class.

My fave couple all time is Semma. Yeah, I know.. Semma, Semma, Semma, but it’s more that I’m always stuck to the first couple I see with most series. And with seeing I mean ‘developing’.
I’m from The Netherlands and I remember my first Degrassi episode when it was on the tv here and it included Sean and Emma from season one and since that moment I’ve loved them. :p

I’ve never liked Cranny. I just cannot get behind couples whose romance started as a result of infidelity.
I agree with your views on Sellie, EClare, Parcy (apart from their very weird/dangerous/creepy beginning), and Palex. I really like all four of those couples.
I’m also a big Ziley fan. Unfortunately, Zane is so underdeveloped, and seems a little too perfect. BUT they do look hot together, and just knowing how hard it was for Riley to acknowledge his sexuality, seeing his newfound happiness now that he’s out, and seeing how patient Zane was with him really goes to show how strong their feelings are for one another. They deserve to exit the show on a happy note.
Spane is probably my favourite couple. I HATED what happened to them in season 9. The writers went out of their way to create drama between Spinner and Jane where none should have existed. It was not in Jane’s nature to cheat with Declan. She never had problems calling people out on their BS, or being frank. If Spinner’s remarks about her being “practically a dude” made her feel unsexy, she would have called him on it, not over-thinking the situation, and going to MANNY of all people for relationship advice (their explanation of their “close” friendship never made sense–50-something common FB friends and 2 common stalkers blocked? So that’s grounds for being super tight? What the what?). If Darcy had been around, Jane would not have pursued Declan. Jane had edge when she was introduced in season 7. She was smart, but also really chilled and blunt with others. The writers turned her into a whiny, uptight girl in seasons 8-9 (disregarding Jane Says; she had every right to be torn up about what was going on, there. But her attitude in Lost In Love kinda sucked.).
Not only does Spinner’s sudden attraction to Emma make no sense (we won’t even get into how they never communicated up until season 9), but Jane was there for him in his darkest hour! He was there for her when memories of her sexual abuse resurfaced! She came back from NY in hopes of being with him! And he throws all of that away to be with an old school mate he never spoke to?
Seeing as how a year has passed since DTM Kary, I’d LOVE to hear your thoughts on the beast that is Spemma!

OKAY I HAVE A QUESTION ;)
Please help me feel better about this. What A Girl Wants is one of my favorite episodes from Season 10… Fiona’s abuse is a great storyline, but what do you think about how the main plot got such little time? If you watch the episode it’s like the election is the main plot, but Fiona’s abuse actually is? Thank god that the rest of season 10 actually gave the most time to its main plots. Any thoughts?

So in regards to the whole hand on the ground with blood near it, sure it LOOKS like Eli’s bracelet thingamabobber, but going for the obvious answer is no fun :) Personally, I’m hoping it’s Imogen’s just becuase it’d be an interesting little plot twist/red herring. Since Imogen dresses like Eli, it would make sense that she’d have the same bracelet. Plus, since I’m a rabid Eclare fangirl, I want to see Imogen goooooooooone!!!!! *cackles evilly and runs away*

I loved Sean and Ellie as a couple and thought they were a nice break from Semma. Palex was a good couple but I always find myself not really enjoying watching their episodes because of my opinion of Alex. Parcy was a interesting couple and I love Darcys character but after Peter treated Manny like crap lied to Darcy about the internet creeper and framed Sean with the drugs its hard to understand how he can help Darcy and stick with her after her rape the only explanation I can come up with is that they are a really well put together couple.
