DJGENERAL INTERVIEWS ANNIE CLARK!!

Degrassi returns TONIGHT (2/11) with the one-hour premiere of “When Love Takes Over.”  We’ll get to see the progression of a newer duo, Adam and Fiona, as they become closer.

DJGENERAL recently did an interview with Annie Clark, who plays Fiona.  Enjoy!!

1. Who is your favorite Degrassi character of all-time and why?
That’s hard! But I have always been a Craig fan. He was an interesting character because he wasn’t a specific archetype. He was a good guy, but he didn’t always do the right thing. He’s a character who I always saw as a very real person. Plus, Jake Epstein is amazing and the music aspect didn’t hurt!

2. What kind of storyline would you like to see your character go through on the show next?
I don’t have one specific storyline in mind. But I like when Fiona goes through normal teenager stuff. I feel like she always has a problem, so it would be nice for her to just be happy. This is Degrassi though, so it won’t last long!

3. What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t on set?
Truthfully, I watch a lot of movies and TV shows! On a day I’m not working though, the best thing is to sleep in. Wow, that makes me sound really lazy!

 4. What episode that you’ve done so far has been the most meaningful to you and why?
The abuse storyline was my favourite to film, and was such a powerful topic. I was glad that I got to be a part of it because I think that dating violence is such a taboo subject that no one really likes to talk about. But by talking about it, you could save someone from a toxic relationship. 

5. What made you want to get into acting?
I’ve always been obsessed with watching the special features on DVDs, because I always wanted to see the “making of” the movie. I would watch the “behind-the-scenes” footage, and bloopers, and think that the whole process just looked so fun and interesting. Anytime I’m feeling uninspired I just watch the special features of some movie, and it makes me want to work!

 6. Being an actress has several positives and negatives. What are the biggest in your career?
A negative that has been the toughest for me was that I didn’t get to go away to University with all of my friends, because I have to be in Toronto for most of the year. But then I just think about what a unique experience I’m getting instead. The rest are all positives; I get to do what I love every day, I get to work with interesting people, and be on an iconic show that I have loved for years!

7. What would you be doing right now if you weren’t acting?
I would probably be in school. Not to say that I won’t ever go to University, I’ve just put it on hold for now while I see where my life takes me. 

8. I’ve interviewed a lot of the cast and they all gave me some exclusive information on the upcoming Degrassi episodes.  From the many promos on TV, they show your character starting some sort of relationship with Adam.  Can you tell us something we don’t currently know?
You wouldn’t want me to spoil it for you! I think by the promos you can guess where Fiona and Adam’s relationship is going. I’d love to tell all, but you’ll see soon enough!

9. If you were not on Degrassi, what other show would you like to be a part of?
I would love to be a part of Dexter, Breaking Bad, Gossip Girl, or How I Met Your Mother.

10. If you could have a celebrity guest star on Degrassi, who would it be?
Most people know I’m the biggest Leonardo DiCaprio fan, so I’d have to say my dear Leo would be the greatest addition to the cast. Perhaps as Fiona’s new older man?

11. What was your favorite play you saw in 2010?
I saw so many amazing plays this year! Musical-wise, I saw ‘Billy Elliot’ on Broadway, which was fantastic. As for plays, I loved ‘A Raisin In the Sun’ and ‘Jitters’, which were both at the Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto.
