Degrassi Mini Review: Monster Moon

"Stupid mini being only thirty seconds, this sucks!!!!!"

Monster Moon wasn’t an absolutely god awful mini…it was actually entertaining in spots, but in the scope of things it’ll ultimately be forgettable (a point driven by it’s short, segmented presentation).

Part 1: The full moon transforms Sav into a werewolf, and Wesley into Holly J.

Part 2: Zombie Clare tries to eat Vampire Eli, who wants to get his freak on.

Part 3: A Jason-esque Riley is about to kill Zane, who scolds him for ruining their plan to wear matcing Roman gladiator outfits. 

Part 4: Fiona is stunned by Twilight Drew’s glittery-ness, but as he tries to make a move on her she stabs him, and proceeds to eat him.

There really isn’t much to say about the mini.  For me, Part 3 was the best.  Zane yelling at Riley was randomly hilarious.  Fiona’s costume and makeup in Part 3 and 4 was simply FANTASTIC.  Unfortunately I could care less about Parts 1 and 2.  Part 1 felt like it moved at such a neckbreaking pace that I blinked and it was over, and I wasn’t entertained by Eli’s “sexy banter” in Part 2.

With that said, I’m still impressed once again with the production values of the show’s Halloween content.  It’s good to know that if they’re going to do special stuff for Halloween, they’re at least putting forth the effort to make it look Halloween-y.  Hahah….I just said weenie.

I’m disappointed in whichever network put the stipulation in place that these four minis had to be 30 seconds.  And I rolled my eyes as TeenNick tried to make such a big deal out of such little content, toting it as if it were primetime content (which at it’s length each night? nope…sorry). I do wish that Stefan and Co. would’ve had more time to play with so that they could’ve expanded on the stories.  Heck, two minutes each would’ve been great.
