It looks like, at the very least, we have a more specific timeframe in which to expect Degrassi to return.  Right now the TENTATIVE date for Degrassi’s return is Friday, February 24th at 9pm EST (MuchMusic and TeenNick will air the rest of the season at the same time).  And the reason I am making the word TENTATIVE bold is because the schedule is just that:

This early report says all dates are subject to change, and yeahhhh it might have to change at some point…this schedule only accounts for 12 of the final 13** episodes of Season 11 (**There are technically fourteen 30-minute episodes left, but the season finale In The Cold, Cold Night is considered by everyone as one whole episode, bringing the total number of episodes left to 13).  This is what the schedule looks like according to that model if they air the remaining episodes in order:

2/24: Underneath It All Pt. 1 and 2
3/2: Can’t Tell Me Nothing Pt. 1
3/9: Can’t Tell Me Nothing Pt. 2
3/16: Not Ready To Make Nice Pt. 1
3/23: Not Ready To Make Nice Pt. 2
3/30: Need You Now Pt. 1
4/6: Need You Now Pt. 2
4/13: Smash Into You Pt. 1
4/20: Smash Into You Pt. 2
4/27: Hollaback Girl Pt. 1
5/4: Hollaback Girl Pt. 2

And the actual finale, In The Cold Cold Night, would be left out…or they could be saving it for later in the summer…who knows.

But if not, they’re either going to have to move the premiere up (which would shift the entire schedule) or move the finale back, so we cannot nail down this schedule as being official yet…so don’t go around the Degrassi universe touting this schedule as fact. Things will get more clear as we get into early 2012.

  2. I will probably lose interest by the time the new episodes come around. They film so far in advance, we’ll probably know more spoilers about the end of the season way before the season actually resumes.

  3. Wait, if “In The Cold Cold Night” is considered one whole episode… does that mean we get an hour-long season finale!?

    1. Yeah, I hope we don’t have to wait that long, or at least a new promo would be nice (though I’m sure info will be leaked with this long hiatus).

On a side note, I find it hilarious how messed up the Degrassi timeline is. I mean, they’ll be starting a new grade in February. Ha.

      1. @Degrassigirl, the show does not operate on a real time schedule, if airing the last semester of a school year in the summer was anything to show for it. However, I agree that they are constantly screwing up their timeline left and right; it’s ridiculous at this point. They ended Season 10 on April 22nd, but if you pay close attention during Now Or Never, it’s pretty clear that they retconned it yet again to have Season 11 pick up in March.

    2. You do realize that there are only 14 episodes left in the season, right? Really, they’re airing it as a 12 episode special event. If they start it up any earlier, they’re going to have to split it in half. Personally, I think they should have just given us 25 episodes this summer and cut off the extra week, air Don’t Panic through Underneath It All in the fall, THEN kicked off a new school year in the Spring. Degrassi always returns in February nowadays, so this isn’t a surprise in the slightest. However, I really hope they think ahead in planning the schedule for Season 12. In 8 years of watching this show, I have never felt so bummed out during a hiatus; I’m sorry, but 5 months is just torture when you’re waiting for your favorite show to return.

  5. The reason why the timeline got screwed up is because the cast spent most of August overseas doing the Feed The Children project. That’s why. And by the time the first half of the season was over they had only filmed like 4 or 5 episodes of the second half of the season.

  6. And I’m sure that the date would be pushed up to make room for In The Cold/Cold Night. Because I know that Stephen Stohn said that episode WILL NOT air during the summer or anything like that. He made it clear that it would be the second half of season 11’s finale.

  8. I’ve given up on storyline accuracy anymore. They’ve screwed it up so much that there’s not salvation.

It’s really stupid that the telenovela block of Season 11 is spread further apart from the second half of season 11 than the second half of season 11 will be from season 12.

    1. Agreed. They honestly should have just given the Seniors an entire season to be written off. I’m pretty sure we all could have waited half a season for these new Freshmen.

  9. They are filming a bunch of webisodes now. Ray mentioned that he just filmed one (I have to assume it’s for Degrassi.) Will be nice to see Sav again. I kinda wish they’d do this with all the graduating seniors since most got a really shoddy farewell, but something tells me this will be tied to whatever Alli is up to.

    1. It’s not that it’s difficult to follow. It’s that I’m going to be graduating High School when characters who are supposed to be older than me will just be ending their first semester of senior year..

    2. Well, how about the fact that Holly J’s and Emma’s class were separated by TWO years. Holly J was born in 1994 whereas Emma was 1989. That screams stupid

      2. Holly J was NOT born in 1994. In “U Don’t Know” Part 1, Holly J is looking at the family photo album and both her and Fiona clearly state that their first Christmas was in 1993! So, its implied that Holly J had to have been born somewhere between Dec. 26, 1992 and Dec. 25, 1993.

  11. While that is quite far away, the fact that we now have a set date is enough to tie me over until the next Every Degrassi Ever Marathon where the new promo is sure to come along.

  13. I think In A Cold, Cold Night is part of the websodes might be the Frostiville (Carnival). Cristine put a pic W/ a few cast members today on twitter and there is ferris wheel and other carnival things. I remember Stohn was talking about a frostiville (carnival) last week and he took some pics. So will see??

Ok haven’t watched since like the middle of now or never cause I got really pissed off with the plots (now of never was complete bullshit) but I’m looking to get back to degrassi one step at a time. Missed nowhere to run but I’m also looking to catching up on that so yea. I’m gonna watch the first few episodes of this part of the season and if I like them I’ll continue. :)
