Degrassians, past and present, are encouraging their followers to vote in today’s federal election in Canada.
The first episode of Degrassi Junior High revolved around Stephanie Kaye running for President. The first school-related episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation saw Ashley Kerwin running. Degrassi has long incorporated elections into the show.
I’m an American who hasn’t followed Canadian politics, so I have no idea what the heck is going on. However, it’s safe to say from the Canadians on my timelines that they aren’t happy with certain candidates, and they’re out to make their voice heard at the polls today.
If you’re a Canadian who’s eligible to vote (at least 18), you should be making time out of your day to vote! The polls are open until 9:30pm.
Don’t think you’re off the hook, Americans! We have a huge election of our own coming up in 2016, so you should be paying attention to what’s happening over the next year in order to make an informed decision.
