UPDATE 10/29/15, 4:59pm: While residents in the U.S. and other countries have confirmed access, it’s been reported that residents in Canada are restricted from watching the full episodes on Degrassi’s youtube channel.  Graham, DHX Media’s Youtube Project Lead, left this comment:

Hello Internet Fans,
My team is responsible for this initiative. Be sure to keep an eye on the YouTube channel over the next few weeks as we plan to roll out seasons 1-10 of this great show. We wish we could make them all available in Canada, but unfortunately we don’t control Canadian (or African) rights at the moment.

ORIGINAL POST:

FINALLY!

The Degrassi Gods have answered our prayers and are now posting full Degrassi: TNG episodes on their Youtube channel.

All fifteen episodes of season 1 are now available for your viewing pleasure.

I hope they know how amazing this is.  I come from the “download generation.”  When TNG episodes aired in Canada months before they did in America, we waited for sites like “Degrassi The Next Generation Hangout” to create episode downloads so we could keep up with the Canadian broadcast schedule.  I still have those downloads (seasons 1-4) because it’s so much quicker to reference something from an episode using the video file on your computer than having to whip out the damn DVD, rewind, etc.

Full, GOOD QUALITY versions of Degrassi episodes on Youtube is a beautiful thing.  I know there were questions about whether or not Degrassi TNG episodes would make it onto Netflix along with Next Class.  I believe the Stohn said that would happen eventually.  However, the episodes being on Youtube would be even better for us. I hope more seasons are to come!

  1. Thanks for the news! But please make an amendment to your post to let your visitors know that the videos are unfortunately not available in Canada. I don’t know if that also goes for France, Australia (or any other country for that matter), but maybe that means DTNG Season 1 is coming to Netflix Canada.

    1. Thank you for this! Degrassi hasn’t even announced the episodes are up, so hopefully they’ll clarify which countries the episodes are available in.

  3. Kary, I think you forgot to mention that these episodes are formatted in the 16:9 widescreen ratio. This is the first time that these episodes are available in that format from an official source.

  4. This is really great! Thanks for sharing the news Kary. It’s always such a quest to find good quality episodes to stream online, where there’s often a lot of spam. Now I just have to watch out that I won’t be spending all of my time watching Degrassi episodes on Youtube ;-)

  5. Kary, do you maybe know why they’re posting it on YouTube instead of Netflix? I mean, since Next Class is on Netflix, it’d make sense to have KDS, DJH, DH and TNG on Netflix as well. I just feel like the overall quality would be better that way. Also, the lack of ads would be pretty great, too.

    1. Honestly, I’m not really sure! To generate some revenue, perhaps? Posting the episodes on Youtube is an initiative driven by DHX Media. They said TNG is definitely going to be on Netflix at some point, but I’m not sure about the other Degrassi series.
