Miles Confronts His Dad

1412-1Mr. Hollingsworth overhears Miles telling Hunter that he’s a crappy dad.  Frankie is still missing and Miles finally confronts his dad over his behavior, stating that Mr. Hollingsworth doesn’t love or care about anyone but himself.  In a rage, Mr. H throws his cup at Miles and it shatters against the wall, hitting Hunter, and he also slaps Miles.

Miles tries to tell his mom that Mr. H is a bully, but all she does is make excuses.  Miles decides to handle his dad on his own;  he confronts Mr. H and tells him to move out of the house.  Mr. H laughs at the threat and says Miles is the one who’s the problem.  Miles resists the urge to hit his father and heads to Degrassi to find Frankie to give her a goodbye letter.  He reveals his plan to drive as far away from town as possible to Maya; he also tells her how much he hates his father and wants to get rid of him.  Miles lights a campaign poster on fire in the hallway and accidentally sets fire to the entire display.  After the fire, Miles refuses to go home with his father and Hunter tells Frankie about their dad hitting Miles.  The trio stand united against their dad and want nothing to do with him.

GRADE: A+
QUICK REVIEW:  The great thing about having three siblings to work with here is the ability to weave a bunch of different emotional states together to tell a hauntingly human story.  I loved seeing Miles finally have the courage to stand up to his dad.  He’s limited in what he can do to solve the situation, but he seemed to know he had to do something, especially after Mr. H’s outburst directly affected Hunter.  Throughout this season the rest of the family has had a “head in the sand” mentality when it comes to Mr. Hollingsworth. Even in this episode, Miles’ mom refused to acknowledge how awful Mr. H is. Because of the Degrassi Nudes stuff, Frankie finally experienced her dad’s selfishness firsthand.

Hunter initially threw Miles under the bus because, like he’s always been, Hunter was afraid.  But we saw him have the courage the speak up when the Hollingsworth siblings were all together and united against their father.  The episode’s most powerful scene is when Miles confronts his dad for the second time.  Mr. H blames his own son and tells him that he’s the problem, and a tearful Miles holds back his fist, wanting to hit his dad.  When Craig Manning dealt with parental abuse in season 2, it was from the aspect of physical abuse.  Over the course of Miles’ arch, well over a decade later, we’ve seen how emotional abuse from a parent can create emotional scars just as deep as physical ones.

Frankie Confronts Zoë

1412-2The Power Cheer squad is mad at Zoë for framing Frankie, but Zoë tells them she did it to protect them from getting in trouble.  While waiting for their turn to perform at regionals, Zoë receives a text from “Zig” wanting to meet up.  Zoë reaches the meeting place, an empty classroom, but is greeted by a masked character: the Degrassi Nudes blackmailer.  Winston and Frankie try to get Zoë to admit to Degrassi Nudes, but she doesn’t fall for it.  As she tries to leave, she grabs for the door handle which is hot to the touch.  There’s a fire outside the door, leaving the three trapped.  Frankie blames Zoë for their current situation and for forcing the Power Cheer girls into her Degrassi nudes scheme.  Frankie calls Zoë a bully, and says that none of the girls will want to be her friend if she doesn’t accept responsibility.

The three safely escape the fire and afterward Zoë approaches a police officer to confess her involvement with Degrassi Nudes.  Frankie’s upset with her dad when doesn’t show much concern for her well-being after she nearly died.  Miles and Hunter say the he only cares about himself, and tells Frankie about their dad’s violent outburst earlier.  Frankie stands with her brothers as they watch their father walk away.

GRADE B
QUICK REVIEW: My grade of this plot hinges primarily on the conversation between Frankie and Zoë as they were trapped by the fire.  Frankie calls Zoë out as a bully and as having created a false sense of friendship with her and the Power Cheer girls.  Understand that at the heart of everything, all Zoë has wanted since coming to Degrassi is to have real friends.  At the beginning of the episode she tries to convince her friends (Power Cheer) that she blackmailed Frankie to protect them.  When she apologizes to them for the Degrassi Nudes scandal after they freak out over the text sent by “Zig,” you can tell she’s being genuine in that moment.  In this episode and in at least one other this season she’s verbally told the squad she appreciates their friendship.  Zig is in Zoë’s corner, and that’s good for her.  However, I think the most hurtful thing that could happen to Zoë, worse than any punishment because of Degrassi Nudes, would be for the people she considered friends to not really be her friends at all.

Eli Hopes For A Second Chance

1412-3Eli finds out from Imogen that he’s the father of Clare’s baby and rushes to Degrassi to talk to her.  He offers to help her, Clare doesn’t want his help because of his history of freaking out over little things.

Eli tries to show Clare he’s changed by signing over is paycheck to her for her to use for the baby.  He vows to earn Clare’s trust again, and she agrees that Eli should be a part of the baby’s life.

GRADE: B
QUICK REVIEW:  It won’t be long before these two are back to their complicated, romantic ways, but this was a nice change of pace for an Eclare plot.  It was not only quiet (because there was no relationship stuff), but you had these two characters actually COMMUNICATING with each other.  Clare said what needed to be said, and what we’ve been thinking about Eli for quite a while.  I knew Eli’s attitude would immediately change once he found out the baby is his, because there’s no way he’d get the girl of his dreams pregnant only to become a deadbeat dad.  I think he should be involved in the baby’s life, but at the same time he’s going to have to do more than pay lip service to his declarations of change and vowing to earn Clare’s trust.

  1. The great thing about the arcs each Hollingsworth kid had is that we saw them in the same places in the different plots from the season. We saw that Hunter does care about his siblings, but at the same time can’t articulate his position when confronted. In the Power Cheer interactions he voiced, very vocally, how he doesn’t like the way the other girls treat Frankie or Arlene. But when confronted by them he backed down instantly.

Frankie was pushed around by her parents (at two separate moments), and Zoe, and we saw how she evolved from ‘voicing her dissent’ with Zoe and her Mom… then promptly knuckling under. Finally with her Dad and Zoe both pushing her she stands up and draws her line in the sand.

Miles, meanwhile, has internalized everyone (but Maya) at one point or another treating him like garbage. Some not meaning to, his siblings spent all season wanting to help but not knowing how, and Winston and Tristan both didn’t really know how much of the clashes with Mr. H were not Miles’s fault. Even Dallas helped to feed the ‘this is Miles’s fault’ bottom line without even being a party to the plot.

Until finally Miles could see concrete evidence it wasn’t him, he wasn’t at fault. Which was when Hunter found a voice to stand up, and Frankie was done with everyone pushing her around.

And since that covers two out of three plots, I’ll just say I’m disappointed in the Eclare fix being so fast. Because she did seem to bounce back even though Eli declaring he’s changed is NOT backed up with any evidence of value.

    1. I really like your analysis of the evolution of the three Hollingsoworth siblings. I’ve never been a big fan of Frankie’s because she seems too good to be true a lot of the time, but it was grea to see her stand up for herself not just against Zoe but also her own father in quick succession. When Maya saw Miles and ran up to him in the hall I was thinking listen to your mom and do not keep trying to help him! But you’re totally right, Maya’s repeated interventions and assurances that it’s not Miles’ fault helped him believe that the problem wasn’t him at all. The ending with Mr. H caring more about the election than the fact that Frankie almost died in the fire was heart-wrenching, but it felt good to see all three siblings fully realize the extent of their dad’s narcissism and the fact that he is the only one that deserves blame. I also like your point about Hunter being so angry and outspoken about what the cheerleaders deserve but initially so unsure when confronted about what happened between Mr. h and Miles, and finally at the end standing up against his father. I want more Hunter storylines!

I hear you about eclare, but I do think it was backed up with at least some initial progress. Alli even alludes to Eli’s proclivity for grand romantic gestures. But instead of trying to win Clare over, he hands her a check and baby class info. Clare could continue to hold a grudge about the horrible things Eli said to her, but he is the father of her baby, and she knows her baby deserves a father, so the two are going to be mature and work it out. I liked this understated plot (since eclare plots are never understated) and thought it felt right, but I can totally see why some people might think it’s too soon.

      1. Frankie is another Lisa/Caitlin/Emma/Clare/Maya model, so they are doing some of the same ‘overall nice girl’ starting traits with her growing from there. I was pretty ambivalent to her too, but her pattern of action seems fairly straightforward. She survives in the house by doing as told, and she’s only deviated from that when she realized ‘doing as told’ wouldn’t get her anywhere (her mother point blank telling her Frankie would never get the level of trust she wants which lead to her one degrassi nudes photo, and her dad telling her to take all the blame for the entire degrassi nudes scandal).

And while Maya was helpful to Miles not thinking he was completely at fault, she wasn’t what I was referring to. I meant that once Mr. H went after overall goodiegoodie Frankie for one mistake, as opposed to Miles and his laundry list of terrible life choices, it was clear where the common factor was. Maya didn’t really do much for Miles, in the end.

On the one hand I can’t blame Clare for not noticing Eli did a big grand gesture, he still did a rash ill thought out thing in the episode. It wasn’t as big or grand as in past seasons, but he quite literally dropped everything to go to her in the middle of a shift at work. And didn’t actually apologize for anything again. At least, so far, he hasn’t aimed to rekindle, which is good, but he hasn’t actually changed that much.

    2. Eli changed at the end of last season, but for some reason the writers decided that he needed to regress in order to add some drama to the baby storyline. Eli punching Drew (even though Drew sort of provoked him by bringing up his bipolar) and his comment about Clare felt contrived. This season needed more scenes of Eli alone or with Imogen to show how the situation was affecting him emotionally.

I didn’t really see leaving work as some “grand gesture”, though. Admittedly, it wasn’t the most responsible thing to do, but he had just learned some extremely surprising news. (At least it seemed to be a slow day for business!) I think Eli simply saying that he would work to win Clare’s trust back displayed a lot of maturity. He didn’t exactly apologize, which was disappointing, but I think he did at least acknowledge that he should have reacted differently.

  2. Great recap, Kary! I agree with the A+ for the Hollingsworth abuse plot, though I don’t think Hunter threw Miles under the bus due to fear of his dad. Hunter made excuses for his dad before. I think it’s really hard to accept that a parent, who is supposed to take care of you and protect you, is hurting you and that it’s not ok. We see from Miles how easy it is to blame yourself instead of the abuser. I think it was confusing to Hunter, he felt conflicted with his loyalties, and he was still in denial. It was satisfying to see the three siblings band together at the end.

I do think the Eclare plot deserved a higher rating. Like you mentioned, Eli and Clare are actually communicating for a change. I think Eli showed a lot of maturity with the way he reacted after Clare called him out harshly, and I think Clare showed maturity in admitting that Eli deserves to be involved and that she needs his help. It was nice to see Eli focusing on the baby and Clare’s pregnancy as opposed to winning back the love of his life — his priority needs to be earning Clare’s trust and preparing for the baby. I liked that their conversation was all practical, because the Eli of the past lived in the land of fairytales. Let’s see if this ship can survive a dose of reality, and it’s looking like eclare might be endgame afterall.

I kind of felt like Zoe fessing up was a cop out. You’re totally right that her whole motivation has always been to have friends, and she does seem to really value those friendships. But I feel like all season the writers go back and forth between Zoe feeling a pang of moral conscience and Zoe committing a heinous act. Like when Zoe takes the nude pic of Frankie and then deletes it. I get that nobody is all bad — I just feel that someone who does the things Zoe does isn’t going to have a change of heart so easily. Perhaps we’re just not seeing enough of what’s going on in Zoe’s head, whether she feels guilty and just keeps justifying the means over and over to herself. Overall, I liked the Power Cheer nude scandal storyline but this didn’t feel like a very satisfying conclusion. But perhaps with the repercussions in the next block…

  3. This was a fairly underwhelming episode full of predictable outcomes.

It’s great the see the Hollingsworth siblings cohesively stand up against their father; however, it was a fairly quick fix to the entire issue. Everything in recent episodes was definitely leading up to this moment, but we fail to see or understand how Mr. Hollingsworth parenting is strictly political. His career has seeped into the Hollingsworth home, and we see a House of Cards-like relationship between both parents who choose to shy away from the obvious issues in front of them for the sake of preserving their prominent political image/reputation. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hollingsworth’s marriage is a mere facade along with their parenting, but our attention diverts to how the Hollingsworth kids are affected.

Over the years, the role of the parents has slowly disappeared in the Degrassi franchise. We hardly see parents in the series unless someone lands his/herself in trouble or is undergoing some personal turmoil at home, much different from when Spike and Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. Santos, Joey, the Bhandaris, etc. made appearances. The reason for why I greatly appreciate insight to the Hollingsworth home is because the father-son clashing helps define Miles’s internal struggles that become dangerous once surfacing. Sure, we see Clare and Drew’s moms every now and then, but it’s important to demonstrate how the home dynamic, how that environment, affects the interpersonal dynamic at Degrassi, especially with the amount of jaded characters we currently see.

I was very disappointed by the Zoe-Frankie-Winston debacle. There was so much potential, but instead we got rather rushed end to their scheme and Zoe, in a sense, got away. Zoe’s character has repeatedly proven to be full of selfish motives, so it’s difficult to believe that she actually admits to being the ringer of Degrassi Nudes. In fact, I expected Frankie to be approached by a police officer to take her in for questioning. Instead, we’re left assuming that, for once, Zoe did the right thing. As you’ve mentioned in previous posts, Zoe has been Degrassi’s most conniving female character. Holly J had her moments in the beginning, but her character matured as she got older and tore off her veil of egocentrism. Zoe, however, increasingly allows her narcissism to control her actions toward others. Although she’s had some traumatic experiences, she seems to lack the empathy that you’d expect someone who’s been through to what she has to have. Her actions are vengeful and “bullyish,” but she cannot use her past to justify her harm toward others, especially other females who appear just as vulnerable as she.

The Eclare scene was fairly obvious. I think we all expected Clare to let her guard down and let Eli back into her life. Let’s be real.

  4. The Hollingsworth abuse plot was a great arc… Showing how detrimental emotional abuse is. It broke my heart when Miles thought he was actually bad for his family and his siblings. I’m really glad he controlled himself from hitting his father. It’s really great to see him evolve as a character. And I’m glad the siblings are banding together… It felt like Miles against the world and while Maya tried to help, it was really out of her scope. This was a very satisfying ending. Nevertheless, it depends how the next half season goes. Will they get help for their father? Will their mother finally “take her head out of the sand” as Miles put it? She overlooked her husband’s affair but will she continue to overlook his abuse of their children? I cannot believe his first reaction to seeing Frankie walk out of burning building was chastising her for shirking from her responsibilities. As a parent, nothing else should matter… Frankie could’ve died.

  5. Sidenote: The ending repartee between Maya and Miles was too sweet. I think they could actually start a relationship this time. I know I’ve pushed this on another post but I love them together!!!

  6. I liked that Eli simply promised to earn Clare’s trust back instead of using yet another grand romantic gesture. Despite everything they’ve been through, I still genuinely like the pairing of Eli and Clare. Does anyone else think the writers were a tad unkind to Eli this season, though? At the end of Season 13, he seemed to have changed into a more level-headed person. It felt like they were determined to show him in the worst possible light for the sake of cheap drama – punching Drew, the “whore” comment, etc. He needed to be given other scenes of processing the situation emotionally. I would have liked less of him with Clare and Drew and more of his conversations with Imogen.

I liked Miles tonight (despite the fire-starting), but he’s still kind of an ass.

Zoe’s change of heart was a nice moment, but she’s still one of the most infuriating characters this show has ever written. I understand that the nudes scandal was partly her way of reclaiming her identity after a trauma, but she’s done some seriously unhinged things.

  7. Mr. Hollandsworth will be better off without these 2 criminals. Myles should be in jail due to drug possession,, driving under the influence and the hit and run accident. Frankie is guilty of distribution of child pornography and the forcible confinement of Zoe.

  8. The thing that bothers me about the Zoe Plot is we’ve been on such a weird roller coaster with her that this ending doesn’t do her character Justice, or even makes sense. In Season 13 they had her start out as a diva but she was nice, at least faking it. Her manipulation were behind the back and there were times she tried to fit in only to get rejected, like when Miles told her “he didn’t do reruns”. Then we have the assault plot that allows the audience to warm up to her and shows she can be good. For the rest of the season she is only given plots that make us want to like her and feel sorry for her like being used by her mom and the trial. We ended the season with her and Maya burying the hachet and Her admitting she was only upset over Miles and has been trying to be Maya’s Friend.

But then Season 14 totally hits the reset button on Zoe’s Character. They got rid of any reason to like her character as a person and basically turned her into the shows villain. She was constantly openly mean to people where’s she really use to treat people nice. The first time she actually does something good this season is when she deletes the photo of Frankie because she realizes it’s unfair to put someone through what she went through but in the very next episode is fine with pinning it all on Frankie again! The point is she is smart enough to know the power cheer team is going to get in no more trouble with her taking the blame than Zoe and if they already don’t want to be her friend confessing isn’t going to change that. They liked Frankie but it’s made clear they stopped hanging out with her after she got off the team. There is no way zoe would have confessed! She literally says right before she tries to leave “I’m not about to lose to you losers”! They need pick a direction to send her character in and stick with it because it doesn’t work having her all over the place.

Also this episode was great though. This season was much better than anything 13 produced.

    1. Wow.. nice points. I didn’t watch her full character in S13. my 1st episode was the rape one. I didn’t know anyone but I quickly picked up on it. I read her wikia & its a train wreck. too bad they never gave her a lie detector test to prove if she was really hurt or not. I bet if they did the results would come up different. I think the worst things she ever did in S13 were breaking in Drew’s crib

& drugging him. then being mad about a break up & walkin around like a lose hoe. she must of thought Miles house was the club. she was all on him like a fat man on a burger. that’s the 1st & only time I’ve ever seen a guy unhappy about a girl in their lap kissin on em. most guys would take advantage of that. but I gotta say.. that scene was funny! stippin down faster than actual

strippers. then walking up to him then him having her butt in his hand. her personality went from Boss Bitch to everyone feel sorry for me an then she didn’t want that anymore. after Becky rejected her. and she kept running away from the truth. as Phil said “you will lose its in your nature”. this was the Winter of the fallen. villains fail hard… Whitehall got shot & Zoe is down!

but for deleting the Frankie pic.. that’s not good because she did something much worse right after. she went on as the invisible felon for a while.. but what I’ve been wondering is.. how the FUCK did Winston recreate the app back up? he is some master Hacker! he faked Zig’s number. once a person can do that they can do anything.

those girls were NEVER her friends, more like associates. no matter how many times she apologizes to them doesn’t excuse the fact that she forced them to commit a HIGHLY illegal felony & hurt a friend of theirs. certain things cant be made up. Frankie is right they are scared, but Jack stepped up & Shay stepped up. people like her get worried when people think for themselves.

we didn’t see it 100% but she wouldn’t have told Zig that for nothing. if she really did then I’m sure there would of been a BIG scene.. her being arrested. but that’s good she might of did the right thing. but Ana said there is a kiss coming but its not big. Simpson aint gone go easy on her. he will be even more shocked its her. they best not throw out the charges. she’s looking at jail time cus Juvie can only keep her till she’s 18 or 21.

& she’s looking at 20 years alone. not to mention lying to the police the 1st time. no one gets suspended for something that’s on the news. her roles are gunna be smaller. I see Frankie back in now. everything she feared is coming. if they did a trail she would get murdered out there. its odd to say that the rape victim turned child porn… sad:( she has plenty of time to think in the clink.

  9. This EP was great I am very happy that the Hunter & Frankie saw Dads true colors. I love the strong bond at the end. because thats all they have to survive emotionally. I understand that Mrs H is still in denial that is a big part of mental abuse with spouses. I hope Mom wakes up and takes herself and her kids to family therapy. Or just leave dad.

Zoe.. I hope this was her huge wake up call to the real world. I know she wants friends but for now I think she needs therapy.

As for Clare & Eli, I think they are better off as friends and co parents. They can’t do romantic relationship and to me that last seen felt like they are over in the romance dept, it felt like they were acquaintance. I feel that Munro & Ais lost that chemistry in S12C. I do adore Imogen & Eli friendship and their chemistry is still there when we last saw them in S12.

  11. GREAT EPISODE! sad it was only 30 mins.

    1. Mr H is a Mitch! he treats those kids worse than dirt. he only threw the mug cus he forgot to him Miles in the face with it. I can see the kids ignoring him in general. I want to see Frankie step up to him again. but if he hits her than Mile may lay him out. lets hope no one gets hurt enough where we see blood. cus if that happens all they have to do is tell CPS. if that happens he is doomed!

if they found out he hurt their kids then you get them taken away. Frankie still has the power to ruin his election. after Zoe & her stuff goes out she can tell the press how her dad was forcing her to lie & take the blame for everything & goodbye winning. Miles should of beet his ass when he had the chance. Mr H is the worst dad ever. Punk Ass Mitch! wit his nice suite wearin ol man lookin ass!

2.great ending. I hope she confessed. based on what she said to Zig I am assuming yes. Ana said there’s a kiss coming but its a short goodbye kiss I think. her life is going south. if I’m correct this should be the sequence of events

-> after she tells officer 1 she gets driven downtown where her mom will meet her, she will be asked if she really did come up with DN & if she forced the girls. once she says yes to all that and explains the whole thing in the 3rd EP, because of the child porn law in Canada they need to see EXACTLY (or a close estimate) how many pics are in that site. but because a new pic was taken

everytime a request was made so no one buys the same pic that means there’s many. an with Lola’s “many zero’s” thing we can assume over 5 to (an this is BAD, 10,000 pics.) then she would tell them she knew what she was doing was wrong cus if she says the fighting back crap that sounds worse. I hope the charges don’t get dropped. getting expelled should happen. Simpson

will be livid about this. after her speaking about how bad it is, she basically fooled the crowd. plus suspension isn’t even the right punishment. they don’t suspend people when the police come to the school or when its on the news. I wouldn’t mind seeing what happens next & if her identity is out. that would cause some real shit. that look she had @ the end of HxV she will have again soon.

she lost everything she said she wanted. juvie or jail I don’t care. something. but the child porn law will either give her the max or min time. hopefully max, and when you force 12 girls (all underage & some just 14) to make pics & if the police finds thousands & the number is let out then she’s poof. they don’t go easy on child porn. when ANYONE gets caught with hundreds or

thousands of pics they lock u up for a LONG TIME! age don’t matter. weather its juvie or jail she will be 20 when she gets out. I don’t expect her to be in 14C during Zig’s 11th grade year. she’s gone down hill an will be in that “other” category soon. usually most rape victims just shoot or stab the person who hurt them. and if she goes to court she will lose. she has no idea how bad this is.

all her hopes n dreams are gone now. when she gets out (if she hopefully goes) after she gets out she will-> be on the sex offenders list that goes out to her entire neighborhood, cant go anywhere around kids n teens (no parks, most store aisles & no community centers) & she has to stay in her house on Halloween, if she opens the door to give any kids anything or says anything she can

get arrested. I’d say that she cant go in public after she confesses. after everyone knows its her she will be going down HARD!

  13. Awesome how everything came together in this episode! Here are my thoughts:
    – Why does Zoe insist that she’s poor? Wasn’t she supposed to be one of the most famous starlets on West Drive, and sometimes still getting gigs? Why do the other cheerleaders not think about this?
    – THANK YOU, Degrassi, for revealing how stupid that Frankie-and-Winston-as-a-masked-villain thing was. I was not pumped after seeing the promos for that. It was like a bad remake of Pretty Little Liars, even worse than the cheer-leading doll, and the corniness was just too much for me. However, they showed how Zoe thought it was corny too and how the whole thing wasn’t really effective. Degrassi can now return to being Degrassi.
    – Kudos to Miles for standing up to his dad! I love it when Miles tells off Mr. Hollingsworth. Hunter and Mrs. H. were acting like battered women, but at least Hunter and Frankie got it through their heads that their dad needs to get out. Maya and Miles, on the other hand, do not amuse me. Maybe I would ship them if they weren’t constantly recycling the same Maya-endangers-herself-by-“helping”-Miles plot. It was obviously dumb for Miles to set that picture of his dad on fire inside the school, but satisfying to see his dad’s face burn at the same time lol. Maybe if Maya just stayed out of it the whole school might not be on fire, and Miles would have had his chance to get out some frustration. So stop meddling, girl.
    – When I watched the promos, I was so mad at Clare for the way she told off Eli. You’re calling him unstable because he “punched Drew three weeks ago.” Ha! You told him Drew was HAVING YOUR BABY! Anyone would punch the guy who got their girl pregnant! Oh, and he overreacts every time the slightest thing goes awry!? Honey, you told the wrong man he was the father of your child. That is not a slight thing going “awry,” so stop using stuff-Clare-says-worthy vocabulary when making unfounded accusations or just stop talking. I’m not saying Eli was right in what he said to her last week, but just sayin’, Clare needs to get off her high horse. Clare’s out of control ego is not a good reason for this child to be fatherless or for Eli to live the rest of his life in misery. I wish she would actually apologize for the mix-up, considering that it should have crossed her mind to ask the doctor the age or her child, but whatever. Her re-acceptance of Eli will have to be enough for me.
    – Bonus thought: the pink-haired cheerleader is really too stupid. At first it was endearing, but now it’s just ridiculous. Why the hype around a new character like that if you’re going to make her nothing more than a stereotype?

  14. I am a few episodes behind on Degrassi but i did see the beginning of the Degrassi nudes storyline. I know that Zoe definitely forced Frankie to take nude pictures then kicked her off the team. But it seemed like everyone else went along with it pretty easily and willingly. So i’m a little confused as to why everyone is saying Zoe forced them all to take nude pictures.

    1. Because: its pretty much “do this, tell no one & if you don’t do it you leave!” But I hope she confesses when she gets questioned. If she keeps her story straight and tells that she made the site about Frankie to get away then the next step (offscreen) would be for them to find all the pics on the site. The

Child porn law states that the charges depend on if she forced them or not and the amount of pics made and sold. And she will HAVE TO explain the process of it. And thanks to Lola’s “many zero’s” comment… The police will have a ball with that. Then Simpson comes in. He will be more devastated

That its her. And we should see that Zig kiss after. An (off topic) who was Becky kissing? An am I the only 1 that hopes she doesn’t have sex. I will lose all respect for her. An WTF did Jack do now?

They didn’t go along with it. Like Frankie said. They were too scared to tell. Yet Jack & Shay stood up. Their all not friends. They would chose Frankie over Zoe any day. True friends never give up on her.

He’s someone who genuinely wants to do good for the community, but he contains an unhealthy amount of narcissism that harms interpersonal relations. He loves his family, to a degree, but ultimately his career is bigger than everything else within his orbit.

  16. how the hell are they going to fix Eli & Clare in less than 10 weeks when 14 B starts up. I hope they just end up being co parents. And leave the door open for the fans. It getting pointless.

I love Zoe & Frankie, I hope they work out there friendship.

I hope Mes H pulls her head out of the sand very soon. Her kids need her.

  17. I thought everything wrapped up a little too neatly. Miles telling his dad to Move out is ridiculous. The dad is abusive emotionally to miles, not to the other two until Frankie got in trouble, but he just puts the campaign above everything. I think if the family got therapy it could be worked out decently. But the mayor of Toronto isn’t moving out of his own house.

And I dunno why Zoe would suddenly agree to turn herself in when she had avoided that the entire time and she knew the whole time that it wasn’t frankies fault. I didn’t think much changed other than being stuck in a fire together.

I don’t see how Zoe wouldn’t be expelled so maybe they will expel her for the rest of the year or something. Unless they really go unrealistic and say she has detention everyday. I dunno. On an unrelated note, at the end of the episode Frankie looks about 8 years old.

    1. The miles stuff was odd. but Mr H has the most money, if he left the kids & wife would be middle class. I think in the future the dad will -> take his car away, take their phones & computers away & prevent them from doing anything else other than coming to school & home. He may be a Mitch but he controls the money. Everytime he talks its like shit comes out. He either apologizes after being mean but then he says more crap after. what kind of parent wants their daughter to lie? He knows that would land her in Juvie or jail an would people really vote for him if she went there? nope. no one is dumb enough to take a fall for something they didn’t do. Miles shoulda TKO’d his Mitch ass. I think M3 could take M2.

As for Zoe: there is no “expel her for the rest of the year” only suspension. suspension can be only for a week I think. if you miss a certain amount of class you get held back. And if Zoe staid in school parents would get a petition to have her kicked out. I think in S12 Katie & Jake got detention for vandalizing their own garden & Zig got detention many times. Eli got suspended for running around nude & high but no one gets suspended for child porn. an important thing with this in the show is how serious Child Porn is. the law states that the police (or someone in their tech division) has to determine the # of pics made/sold. and with Lola’s “many zero’s” comment (which made me say “awww shit!”) that means Zoe is either in the thousandths or the ten thousandths place. both are very dangerous. they lock people up for a LONG time when they get busted with that many. usually for small amounts (& if their under 17) they usually get probation or juvie but idk with Zoe. cus the app got to Sim after she turned 16. but she can be tried as an adult. but as mad as he is.. he’s gone

go HAM on her. he will be shocked its her & after what she went through with Luke.. its like him saying “i cant believe this”. its like on TV when your family member or best friend sexed or kissed your lover. but he will be happy she confessed but since she lied the 1st time & taught those girls to lie its worse. IDK the age of the girls but there’s 3 14 year olds & I think Jack is the oldest there. but there’s 13 girls (12 including Zoe) & since she confessed i’m guessing she put it all on her which means all those thousands of pics she is accountable for. I think she will get a longer punishment than Luke (which she & the viewers wont like) but hell I will, I just want her expelled, everything else for me is extra. but with the law is her name & what she did will be broadcasted on TV. so this is serious. I was worried she wouldn’t get busted. but she gave up the girls & Zig. but since people are saying there’s a kiss coming.. its a goodbye kiss. she lasted 3/4ths of her year. I hope we don’t see “Free Zoe” shit poppin up. not to mention the site she made on Frankie. all she can

say is she blamed her for it. and lets not forget the text sent through the school. idk how she can answer that. might just be her saying she wasn’t thinking. but no one is stupid enough to blow their own cover.

      3. about Frankie? didn’t notice. I love Winston! he’s ma nigga! we don’t know how he put the app back out it takes Grace skills for that. I think he was working on it before it got shut down. or he released it after she shut it down. but with people buying more (of the same ones) is he making money? & the Zig text.. shit! he hacked into Zig’s phone somehow & got his number or hacked into her phone. that’s so cool. why didn’t he just hack into her account & take the money? when you can do texts like that no one is safe. & he should of got a knife from his kitchen, much more believable.

      4. Saw the preview for 14B, an what was Becky taking about? I saw Jonah behind her & who was she kissing? i’m SCARED cus that kiss was intense, that was a sex/make love kiss. she never kissed Adam that good. I hope she doesn’t have sex or has the urge to. if she can stay clean she will be 1 of the 2 seniors not to do it. now I wouldn’t mind seeing her close to doing it but then she leaves. seeing that would be a comedy moment where Drew wouldn’t get some. cus he dumps em right after. an Jonah? NO!!! he’s a grade below & stop getting into relationships when you gone in a month. what did Jack & Imogen do now? What did Zig do? but i’m mainly here for Zoe’s things & Becky. I will tape all Zoe scenes. after Ana is gone I will focus on Liv next. ironic that Zoe 7 Luke shall be sharing the “other” category in the wikia soon.

      5. Clare.. don’t care never did care. I put that stuff on mute. she needs to apologize to Becky, and Ali, Dallas & Imogen need to tell her what Clare did to Drew. but I must say.. that was 1 of the most realistic ultrasounds I ever seen on TV. they did a good job with the smaller fake belly. now what will she look like at 5 months? cus lets face it.. we wont get to see her any bigger. & Lola is dumb as rocks! she puts comedy into the show. I’d like to see her grades. I swear if she answers a math or science question wrong imam laugh. but the dumbest thing she said was “i didn’t do it” followed by “am I the child in this?” Jack looked like she wanted to yell.

  18. I am not a fan of how they ended this.

The whole Eli and Clare thing is frustrating especially if she takes him back after what he said. He should have known better, I mean he has only know her for several years! I think a co-parenting story line would be better and showing him earning his way into her life by being a good parent.

The whole cheerleader situation is utterly ridiculous. Every participant should be dished what they deserve as punishment, not only just Zoe. The whole situation is a serious one, the distribution of child pornography. I don’t buy that the police would believe she did everything on her own and would want to know how she created and distributed it all in detail. I highly doubt she has any knowledge on how to create apps or anything pertaining to it.They would investigate if not a higher federal agency would step in based on the seriousness of the matter. They would want every person who took pictures and paid for them. I am thinking the writers will somehow manage to get zoe into a diversion program where she doesn’t go to jail or juvie and has to do community service, possibly get home schooled, while every other participant gets away and treats her like crap. Have we all forgotten the other cheerleaders where wary at first, but then seemed to enjoy what they were doing; they surely didn’t seem scared to me. Not only that, but what Frankie did with her bf to Zoe is considered kidnapping (among other things) and should be held liable for it (they most likely won’t).

As for Miles and his family. I hope either his dad changes his ways, loses the election, or the mom leaves him for the safety of the family. It is too early to tell what will happen. Miles should at least be held liable for starting the fire.

Of course, this is Degrassi where things don’t happen as they would in real life since it is loosely based on issues people may go through; creating a false sense of reality to those who may actually be struggling with similar issues.

    1. The police might buy it since they have been investigating for days. not to mention the text that got out to all staff & students. that’s like getting an secret tip that something is about to go down. its way more serious than just child porn. there’s 3 factors to it & the law says they have to find out how many pics were sold before they charge her. in EP5 Lola looked at how much money Zoe made & said many zero’s. the way Zoe explained it is no pic is sold twice. each dollar is a new pic. and with many zero’s means she has made over 5000 dollars. but people (even teens) go to jail for a LONG time for that many & selling them is worse. let alone how many Zoe took herself. the highest agency would be the FBI but they would only come in if someone got raped, someone lost a limb or killed someone. its still a police job.

she would be accountable for -> the app/site, the textt sent through the school & the Frankie blame site. kids these days create apps all the time. all Zoe has to do is say she doesn’t remember how she did it. since she will get a last kiss from Zig soon that might be after she leaves school for good. the police questioned people.. all the girls said they didn’t do or now anything cus they were forced to. once the police finds out she forced them to lie that’s worse. the principal wouldn’t trust anything she says. she will just say something like “I’m Degrassi nudes. I forced those girls to take nude photos of themselves and I took some too, I sent the text to the whole school, I told the girls to lie for me so I wouldn’t get caught, I put that Facerange page up to have Frankie take the blame” and its over fo her after that. once that comes & they find out how many pics… her life is over.

program? home school? pfff yeah right. no person wants to home school someone like her. for one thing any school or person needs to see your records (for attendance, behavior, illnesses, health & such) they see on her record (if it didn’t hit the news), they wouldn’t take her. if you did that or murder or drugged someone they wont tae you, no school will not even troubled schools. juvie & jail are it. people can get probation but that requires school but she could stay home. she cant work or volunteer. no one wants her there. once something is on your record you cant get a job. unless you become a janitor. she will be a high school drop out. they enjoyed what they did cus they were scared out their mind, they just enjoyed making it to finals. if they weren’t competing they were upset. if Frankie explains what happened she will get a less warning. the child porn girl will get less than the kidnapper. its only kidnapping if

they held her there which they didn’t cus she saw their plan. I don’t think she will be in a 4pt special:) I wonder if she will get more time than luke in juvie or jail. that would be odd. he gets 2 years in juvie she gets more or jail. if she was black shed be guilty so damn fast it would make ur head spin
