I’m excited for Eli’s plot in Ray of Light. Some may question why Eli was the character chosen to find Cam’s body in Bitter Sweet Symphony, but let’s not pretend like it doesn’t make perfect sense in terms of having a character who will deal with the aftermath of a traumatic event. Parts of this storyline have been in the works long before Cam’s suicide; Eli has been using weed as a coping mechanism for past 12 episodes (since Building A Mystery), so it’s not surprising that he’d delve deeper to find something stronger than that to deal with the images that are burned in his brain.
Eli, Clare and Eclare receive a lot of love from their fanbase, but they also receive a ton of hate. Nowadays, I’m not sure if people hate on them because of who they are, or if the hate is directed more toward “sticking it” to their fanbase and Eclare’s popularity in general. In my eyes a lot of it seems unwarranted in Season 12, since I feel like Eclare’s relationship has been fine for the most part since getting back together. Hopefully people will be able to put their nonsense aside for the next two weeks and actually pay attention to the plot, as opposed to focusing solely on the fact that it involves Eclare. We have a guy with a mental illness going through a tough time because of a situation beyond his control, and not even the support of his loving girlfriend can comfort him.
Oh, I’m also ready to see how Jenna and Connor come about. Ray of Light’s plot is more about Jenna, but there’s so much that can be done from Connor’s perspective in the future if they become a legit couple.

This EP is going to be a tough on for Eli & Clare. And to be honest its their fanbase that turned me off. I don’t mind Eli & Clare but I wish that some fans really pay attention to whats really happening with Eli in these 2 EP’s.. Sometimes love can’t conquer all and you may have let go. We have to wait and see….???..
As for Jenna & Connor this story intrigues me. :)

I’m neither a fan or a hater of Eclare. I’m indifferent going into this episode. It seems that Eclare is another character altogether. But going off topic, I like Eli as a character because his storylines that arent relationship oriented are really good. He’s overall one of the best characters in the new generation so I’m excited

I seriously hope that they might provide an image of Cam’s body in Eli’s mind, because it would give us, the audience, a better idea of how horrific it was in his eyes. Besides, adding visual “go there” moments is what makes Degrassi memorable.

It would be interesting to show that, but unfortunately I don’t think that’ll happen. They’ve said they’re never going to reveal how Cam died, so I assume that also means they won’t show the body even in a flashback.

I used to be a huge Eclare fan. The reason I’m not too enthusiastic about the couple anymore is that I feel like Clare’s character changed. Now she’s kind of annoying and overdramatic (in my eyes). I never saw her that way before.

I didn’t actually expect to like Jenna and Connor since I never really cared about either of them. As far as character types, neither are the type of character I’m attracted to (being an aspiring writer myself) and their coupling seemed like a mash-up but I actually thought they were really cute–and man, Connor’s date plan was absolutely amazing and creative. Most guys probably would have brought Jenna to a movie and pizza or something but being brought to SPOILER PLACE (XD), even only simulated is just…amazing–and it doesn’t change the fact the view is beautiful.

This episode is good so far. But I think Part Two will be even better.
Plot A – Eli manages to show how he is suffering from seeing Cam’s dead body. His emotions speak louder of course like when he had that crazy look in his eyes when he was playing the video game. It’s interesting to see that his mentality is so drenched that he takes something to “numb the pain”. At first I thought Talia was going to be a person not connected to the Degrassi world but the fact she does goes there will sure enough stir up some trouble for EClare next week. This plot is doing a good job of setting up and let’s hope that next week’s episode brings it home.
Plot B- Connor and Jenna’s plot has been interesting because we’re practically seeing Connor come out of his shell a little bit by deciding to take a chance with romance and not turning back. Were the Jenna and Connor scenes rushed? I don’t think so because we’re practically seeing some character development for not just Connor but Jenna as well. My favorite scene is when she proves how much of a bully Luke is when Connor comes into the plot…it was very clever of her not to buy Luke’s apology. Of course she kissed Connor on the cheek to make Luke leave her alone but the fact that Connor felt something from that shows how he is improving his social skills. I hope Part Two is good…which should be since the underdog gets a shot at punching Luke.
Plot C- I understand this plot is supposed to show Katie dealing with the aftermath of what happened in Vegas but the problem that I have is that she did not start having these feelings until Marisol brought it up. So for me, her emotions are rather forced. And don’t get me started on that scene where she flips the guy over in Little Miss Steaks. It’s as murky as the Jake vs Luke fight in Say It Ain’t So. All because she thought the owner of the restaurant was going to one day ask Maya to sleep with him much like what Darrin was going to do with Katie when he gave her his card. The writers try to pass it off as some sort of PTSD-ish reaction but it’s just mediocre. If this does not pick up next week then I will not be surprised if Kary gives this plot a D+.

I love Eclare more than any couple on the show. The first episode of Degrassi I watched was I believe All falls down in season 10 and since then I’ve been hooked. I personally love Eli’s character because I feel like his problems are very relatable for people with the same illness and Munro is incredibly good at portraying them. This plot is not really too much about Eclare but more about how Eli deals with having found Cam and such. Also never forget that he has to take meds for his bipolar disorder so if he takes drugs like the ones he took they might effect the medication. Maybe that’s why he said “I could have died”in the promo for Part 2. That medication is no joke we all saw Eli break down in Extraordinary Machine Part 2 and it was heart breaking. Therefore if the drugs he took mess up his medication it’s gonna get scary. I also think people should stop hating on Clare. We all know she loves Eli just as much as he loves her and It must be horrible to see your boyfriend struggle so much with what happened to him. No wonder she’s overprotective and such I mean I would be too. I would loooove to see Clare visit Eli’s doctor and ask her what she should do because I would help her help Eli in the way he needs it (like having fun like Eli wanted to). Neither of them have properly handled death especially Eli. I hope he won’t cheat on Clare with that Talia girl but I don’t think it would happen because Eli LOVES Clare, who wants to be with someone who offers you drugs and who doesn’t understand him at all. I think he will get through it, we will see him break down HARD and get back up. I doubt the writers want to show someone with mental illness completly losing everything they worked so hard for. That’s not the message they want to send. I think it’s that even if you are confused and loose your way ( DRUGS ) you can find your way back.

I don’t think we will know for sure how Cam died exactly, but we can kick out a few options. Like after what Zig said I doubt he went home and turned around and went back to the green house to kill himself. So ruling out a gun (plus I don’t know how he would come to obtain one, and it would have been heard earlier perhaps) ruling out pills for two reasons, 1) I doubt he just carries pills around with him and 2) If Eli looked into the green house and got that scared, we must assume it was something bloody, or he wouldn’t have freaked out like that. So I’m thinking we have to leave his options in the green house. There do tend to be sharp things in the green house so we can have him cutting somewhere like his arm, that might leave him in a puddle of blood. Also, ruling out a hanging because Eli walked over to the green house and looked straight down.
With all that said, I think its safe to say Cam probably found some kind of graden sheers, one of those little shovels, (something sharp) and went after it that way.

we all know that eli will probably not cheat on clare. i love the relationship but im worried that they are going to break up again. in the promo for part 2 it shows that clare is going to think eli is cheating and she isnt going to believe him when he says nothing happened. as for the shower scene, i think that eli is going to get high again. i do think that its understandable that clare is trying to be overprotective of eli but if she goes to far, eli isnt going to be happy. the best thing for her to do is try to take eli’s mind off of death

I was pleasantly surprised by the Connor/Jenna plot thus far. Connor was neutral to me, but I had a problem with Jenna until she had her pregnancy plot. Even after that I didn’t actually LIKE her. She appeared to be a bad friend and selfish girl. In this episode she actually seems open minded and kind. I’m rooting for the couple. It helps that her and Connor have good chemistry. The date was very sweet/unique and they were having a great time. I was afraid the set up would be random, but it seemed like a pretty organic beginning of a relationship to me. I’d love to see them as a long term couple, it would be an interesting plot for both of their character’s development.
I’m loving the Jake/Eli/Mo friendship. It comes across as very natural. They’re funny together and it’s nice to see a strong friendship on the show that isn’t constantly tested. I’m also impressed that they have a character that smokes weed without ‘ruining their life’ or facing ‘serious consequences’. Jake rollerblades and got reprimanded by his father once. That’s as serious as it gets. (Smoking weed may be more serious for Eli, but that’s because he uses as a coping mechanism where as Jake uses for fun.) The only problem I have with Jake is that they use him as a plot device. His bouts of anger (ex. yelling at Katie in the caf this episode – plot device to trigger her Vegas ‘PTSD’ or whatever, fighting Luke over the greenhouse previously – plot device to cause tension with the hockey team/start the huge fight) seem sporadic and out of character. He comes across as a reasonable character, even a little silly/dopey, not like a hot head who can’t control their anger.

Im loving this eli plot so far and cant wait for next week, I love the fact that eli got this storyline, because honestly I didnt know where they were going to take his character next, but this was perfect for him. I felt for him so much cause even when I saw Cam and Maya playing around, iit kind of broke me a little. Another little thing that I loved in this episode was the interesting firnedship between Mo and Jake, who are so funny together, my favorite part was when mo held on to Jake’s waist.
Conner and Jenna are the typical random relationship degrassi always does, but Im excited to just see this new beginning for the both of them especially conner. I did feel it seemed a little rushed but I felt it kind of went with the plot. Jenna kisses his cheek out of no where, and conner feels rushed or obligated to ask her out, cause thats what he mmay feel is the right thing to do in that situation, knowing that he’s never really been in this situation. All of conners scenes this episode were just so cute, especially when he asked her out, it’s like our little man is growing up and its just adorable.
As for Katie, I didnt think the plot was bad but I did feel it was so out of place afterthis major event surrounding cam and maya. Like the fact we there was such a small awknoledgment about maya’s well being, or how she’s hanging out with tori, and tristan again after everything, but those are small things. To be honest I dont really care if her and Jake get back together, what happened to stop focusing on boys, also I just thought it was ridiculous for her to go ape and flip the guy at little miss steaks, like she has some type of crazy war flashback or something. That I didnt get and hopefully they’ll enlighten us in part 2
