There might be some sort of Compotition and the teams are divided by grade levels (each grade has a different neck scarf color)
Freshmen-Dark blue
Sophomore-Red
Senior- Green
To me Zig is the underdog of Degrassi and I like the fact that the writers are not being generic with his character anymore by making him expand a bit.
