The newly-created Canadian Screen Awards is hosting its first ever awards ceremony in 2013, and Degrassi is almost guaranteed to walk away with a victory.
5 Degrassi actors were nominated for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series: Charlotte Arnold (Rock Your Body Pt. 2, better known as U Don’t Know), Dylan Everett (Rusty Cage,Pt. 2), Jahmil French (Smash Into You) and Aislin Paul (Waterfalls, Pt. 2). Melinda Shankar is the fifth nominee, but she’s nominated for her work in the show How To Be Indie.
Degrassi was also nominated two other awards: the show itself was nominated for Best Children’s or Youth Fiction Program or Series, and long-time director Phil Earnshaw was nominated for Best Direction in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series for his work in Scream, Part 2. Congratulations to everyone!!!

Just seeing this is music to my ears. You know Degrassi has gotten better when it gets more nominations than before. Kary, I find it ironic how you complimented the nominated actors/actresses’ acting in the reviews for the given episodes. Kudos Degrassi.
