Degrassi returns tonight to keep us entertained for the next two months. DON’T FORGET DEGRASSI RETURNS TO ITS NORMAL TIMESLOT OF 9PM EST!!
Eli
I don’t have much to say about Eli. He’s been fixated on NYU all season and that looks like it will continue. Some keep saying that when it comes time for this group of seniors to graduate at the end of season 12, he will get held back somehow…the way he’s going at this NYU thing I just can’t see that yet. Him and Jake look like they may be entertaining though.
Bianca/Drew
Drew’s reached the point where he’s “just there” on the show, and him distancing himself from Degrassi in Showdown made it worse. His behavior got more and more random to the point where he proposed to Bianca. Now that they’re engaged, I’m hoping it draws Drew back into the Degrassi fold and Bianca can provide him stability without his antics bringing her down.
Becky/Adam
In theory, the fangirl side of me wants this to happen. Adam is awesome, and Becky’s smile melts my face off (and she’s great when she’s not being overbearing). But there’s this whole issue of Becky basically switching her position on Adam in the blink of an eye, with virtually no internal conflict. Is that something they’re overlooking (and so should we) because there’s something bigger at play here? I don’t know, but I also don’t like the idea of Adam being placed in yet another awkward situation with a girl from the get go. No good can come from a relationship where they have to keep it a secret, and it’s mounted by the fact that I simply can’t fathom a scenario where Becky’s parents become accepting of their relationship.

8-Year Anniversary of Time Stands Still Pt. 2
I know everyone is excited for tonight’s Degrassi premiere, but I also wanted to point out that Time Stands Still Part 2 first aired on television 8 years ago today (10/12/04 on CTV). That was of course back when the Canadian network would air Degrassi episodes months before they’d appear on The-N, who didn’t air it until December.
Time Stands Still is still Degrassi’s best episode to date based solely on the impact it made, not only on the characters, but on the fans as well. It was wonderfully paced and written. It is the definition of intense that many Degrassi fans talk about when they say they want the show to become more intense. Granted, not every episode can contain a shooting or something grand of that nature, but we all still want those episodes that leave us emotionally beaten and drained. If you’re a newer fan to the series and all you know is what’s been happening from seasons 8 and beyond, I’m now requiring you to watch this episode. No excuses.
The most underrated aspect of Time Stands Still is the fact that it’s the breaking point of a storyline that had been in the making since early Season 3. In order to fully experience this plot from the beginning, there’s a handful of must-watch episodes that lead up to Time Stands Still: Whisper To A Scream (308), Never Gonna Give You Up (310), Don’t Dream It’s Over (317), Mercy Street (404) and Islands In The Stream (406). Below are the only promo pics I could find from TSS:

FUN FACT: Degrassi is nearing its 300th episode…Building A Mystery Pt. 1 will only be the fourth episode in the series EVER whose initial broadcast aired on October 12th (TSS Pt. 2 of course, as well as Love is A Battlefield on TeenNick and Uptown Girl Pt. 2 on CTV).

i am in love with becky/adam. i dont think the quick change in becky is strange; she has always known adam as a boy, and she only seems very conservative because it is all she has ever known. now, she’s learning new things from a boy she likes and she is interested in these new things. she is more open-minded than even she thinks. i want them to work so badly!

Very excited for the Degrassi Premire in an hour but i am a little bit lost as to the title of the 12.5/12b block of Degrassi Showdown. Back in season 11 we had “Now or Never” and the 11.5/11b block called “New Beginnings” Will season 12’s “Degrassi:Showdown” also have a different name for it’s 12.5/12b block? In the promos we’ve seen so far the promos do not show any title for the 12b block. If someone could answer my question it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

It has no name, just Degrassi. I’m not sure if you watched Season 10, but the fall block is S10 didn’t have a name also. Probably because at the end of it, it seems like such a small part of the season (only 8 half-hour episodes/4 hour episodes)

The episode hasnt ended yet but I have to say that I enjoyed that instead of Adam chasing the girl, the girl chased him. We’ve now seen that the girl is interested in him where before we did not know for sure.

Luke is a puke. I’d like to swipe the sleazy smirk off his face with a sizzling slapshot.
Try saying that three times, eh?

OMG! i cant believe jake convinced eli of smoking pot!!!!!!!! everyone knows that if you try to make something while high, its going to be terrible!! also, i wonder what clare is going to say! i just hope she doesnt be too made if you know what i mean. I love bekadam! they are such a cute couple but its not going to be a good relationship if becky keeps adam’s transgender a secret! i dont understand how drew’s mom think that just getting married will autom?!atically ruin bianca’s education future. i cant freaked wait until friday! why do we have to wait a week

Has anyone else noticed that Bianca and Drew’s mom are eerily similar? They both have that “don’t fuck with me” attitude, don’t take shit from anyone, yet can be very caring. I guess its true that you end up getting with someone who is like your parents.

I am forever going to ship Jake and Eli. They are far more enjoyable together without that succubus Clare ruining their lives. I could watch those 2 smoke up and enjoy the ensuing aftermath for an entire episode.
I don’t know how it happened, but I’ve slowly come around to Becky and am really enjoying her storyline with Adam. Luke is still a dickhead and hopefully Adam punches him in the face one of these days.
I still have no use for Drew. Some things never change.

This episode was cheesy and lacking. Degrassi is slowing heading back to the horrid-ness that was Season 8. This episode felt completely off and I found that I could not enjoy myself while watching it due to the horrible writing, the way it was filmed, and the annoying way the characters acted. I really wanted to like the episode going in to it (and I was excited for Degrassi’s return) but I really disliked it.
I wish Degrassi still had the magic from Season’s 1-4. After that is has just really been off of its game. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see this show going another 5 years. I’ll give it 3 tops.

But apparently it hasn’t been as bad as the grammatical mistakes in my post. lol.

I have to agree, I was cringing through most of the episode.

This episode was a bit lame, especially the Becky/Adam story, Eli’s and Bianca’s weren’t too bad. One thing I like though was seeing Katie and Marisol in the background doing nothing it reminded me of Degrassi Junior High…

I thought this was a decent episode but am reserving judgement until I see part 2. I’ve warmed up to Becky and am interested in seeing how she handles the situation with her parents.
Eli and Jake bonding over pot was amusing. Just a matter of time until they get caught.
Bianca’s interaction with Audra is enjoyable.
Surely there’s a cell phone store in Kenya that needs Drew’s services.

I can already see Becky and Adams last scene on the show. It’ll be as everyone says they’re goodbyes at graduation. They’ll both be traveling to south america together. Her to buld houses for the poor & him to finally get gender reasignment surgery….. I think they’ll have lots of ups and downs but I actually think they’ll make it.
& god has it really beed that long since TSS? I cried so hard with that 1. It also made me be a lot nicer to people
