The final readthrough of Season 12 was held today, with the Degrassi cast and crew going over episodes 1237/1238 (Zombie), and the season finale 1239, 1240 (It’s The End Of The World As We Know It). There were two new characters at the readthrough: Talia (actress unknown) sat in between Aislinn and Annie, while an unknown guy sat next to Justin. Below are photos from the readthrough:

There’s been lots of speculation among fans about whether the seniors would graduate at the end of season 12, or if the show would stretch things to keep them longer (there’s never really been a reason to believe the latter, but that’s just me). The closest thing to a hint about what will happen in this finale, that isn’t going to air for another 7 months, can be found in tweets from Annie and Aislinn:

I feel like this is the real last degrassi cast leaving :( makes me sad. I mean I def miss the old DNG but this group grew on me! Hopefully Degrassi will keep on giving 4 many more years!

Its sad for the seniors to leave but remember you may see these same actors on Television or even in the movies. Munro, is 22, and The majority rest of the senior cast are all adults going to college or a university… Its time for them to move on with their careers in acting, music, dance, or modeling. Im proud that they’re moving foward in their lives and I hope they all make it in the entertainment world.

I really hope these two new characters are not new regulars. I was so happy that it seemed as though the writers were going to tone down the new meat, and focus on the current cast.

There are so many juniors and seniors (20 of the 25 who appear in the opening credits) that filtering in new characters is pretty much inevitable if the show is going to last beyond season 13. I would like to see them whittle the number of regulars down rather than concentrating on a half dozen and leaving the crumbs to everybody else.

I think it means shes graduating and done with Degrassi. Shes going to a university somewhere in Toronto.
