Degrassi Season 12 Premieres on Monday, July 16th at 10PM EST
MuchMusic and TeenNick will broadcast the episodes at the same time. The summer telenovela block is 5 weeks long with a new episode every Monday-Thursday, for a total of 20 episodes. The show has switched timeslots, and will now air at 10pm EST. Below is the broadcast schedule for the summer block:

Season 12 is slated to have 40 total episodes, so after the summer block the remaining 24 episodes will be split into two blocks that will air during Fall 2012 and Spring 2013. SPECIAL NOTE: Episode 1223 will be this Degrassi series’ 300th episode. Episode 1226 will be the 400th episode in the history of the Degrassi franchise, dating back to the debut of “Ida Makes A Movie” in 1979.

Kary's Degrassi Blog 
Oh my God, KC and Katie? I can’t even…seems like it’ll be a temporary thing, but I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t. Looks like Katie’s really fallen from grace, even to the point where she needs a tutor. Interesting.
The Clare insomnia plot sounds random and boring. The Mo/Marisol thing is weird. If she liked him so much, why would she be so insulting? You could argue that it’s just her personality, but if she really liked Mo, I don’t see why she would do that.
I don’t really get this hockey team thing. Are they a rival team? What are they doing at Degrassi? Are they permanent regulars? And it doesn’t really explain Becky. I’m missing something here…

I sincerely HOPE that these episode descriptions are not true. Marisol verbally abusing Mo? Really? Give me a damn break!
If the writers are going to continue to make Marisol’s character seem like the freaking Wicked Witch of the Damn West, I will NOT support this show anymore.
The ONLY BLACK FEMALE on the damn show and the writers WANT fans to hate her?
I’ve been a faithful fan of this show for over a damn decade and it pisses me off that they haven’t written strong, likable characters since Jimmy and Liberty.
That’s right. (Sarcasm) ALL BLACK ARE GOOD FOR NOTHING AND WE ARE ALL EITHER:
1. IRRELEVANT LIKE HAZEL OR CHANTAY
2. JACKASSES LIKE DAMIEN OR DAVE

I agree. I don’t understand why Marisol, having admitted that she was wrong to judge Mo by his appearance, would begin outright insulting him. Unless she does so by playfully teasing him, calling him things like “big and cuddly”, and he just takes it the wrong way. But yeah, I’m sort of apprehensive about this plot, as well. I’m slowly warming to Marisol as we view her softer side when she’s with Mo, but I wish the writers would portray her in a more positive light. I actually vastly prefer Marisol to Katie. Marisol’s a bitch, but at least she’s fun and feisty. Katie’s a bitch, but I find her dull and whiny.

Yeah, they hinted all throughout New Beginnings at how Mo has self esteem issues, but Marisol flat out verbally abusing him “just because she can” doesn’t make sense seeing how she’s nice to and cares about the people she’s close to.

I prefer Marisol to Katie too because she adds something to the show, and I feel that Shanice is the better actress and could pull off a more serious plot line if the writers actually gave her good material to work with. If one of those two had to be held back for another season, I would pick Marisol.

I’m a big fan of Dave actually and I really don’t think he’s a jackass. But most fans do because the writers go out their way to make black characters look bad these days. That’s all I’m saying. Liberty and Jimmy were the only ones written fairly and that’s because they had a whole different writing crew back then.

All these supposed plots sound lame except for the KC/Matie one. I assume this was proposed by the actors themselves, who are dating in real life (I’m not sure if they are still together). Giving KC a plot that does not involve Jenna in any way is a good way to add dimension to his character. However, i’m still waiting for a proper “fall from grace” from him. They started to get there in “Better Off Alone”, but it wrapped up quickly and went straight to the pregnancy/baby drama. I’m still waiting for a good, long term gang storyline and KC could possibly be the character for that. Also, Maya is far more interesting and likeable than Katie. I also have no idea how a hockey team could “divide Degrassi”, but we’ll have to wait and see.
I hope the first half of S12 will be reminicent of the first half of S10 – fresh, surprising, and ENTERTAINING storylines and episodes.

ALSO, If this is true, I must say while I appreciate Mo getting an A-plot and dealing with something as deep as low self-esteem, I really don’t like the fact that Marisol is being painted as this cruel, detestable bitch. WRITERS, STOP FUELING THE HATE THAT MOST FANS ALREADY HAVE FOR MARISOL!!! DAMN. I don’t mind Marisol maintaining her sass and diva-ish personality but I’m going to be pissed if they continue to make her look downright EVIL. I love Marisol. Most fans ALREADY hate her, there’s no need for the writers to TRY even harder to make them hate her more. Give me a fucking break.

I think the insomnia could simply be a developmental story line. To establish an issue that will later be developed. People without sleep say some crazy things. She could let slip something she hates about another character, and cause drama. Or blow up on someone and become ostracized. There are a lot of ways it could go.

From the past episodes from this and last and last and last season I’m led to believe that they won’t push it to that level. I honestly expect it to be only 2 episodes of Claire missing out on sleep because she’s conflicted about Eli. And having it end there.

Insomnia could lead to serious heatlh issues it can cause hallucinations, heart problems and many more bad things. Chronic insomnia can be pretty dangerious. My best freind had it for 2 weeks he passed out. We rushed him to the ER. Later on we found he was in a coma. 1 week later he woke up.

Why introduce a Grade 12 character who will only be around for a very short period of time? They should start front-loading the 9th and 10th grade class instead, since we’ll need those.
So when do they plan to have graduation for the Grade 12 class? If they wait until the end of Season 12, that will have been 2 “real” years after the last one. This is what happens when they spread seasons out over fall/summer/fall. Also, why can’t they make things easier and just use one school year as a season? It would make it easier to keep track of these things.

I know you would think they bring more grade 9’s & 10’s. I highly doubt they are keeping all the seniors back. Also I hope all the seniors graduate in the end of season 12 especially Eli. He’s too smart to be held back.

It would be smart to have them graduate, maybe at the end of the first fall block. There’s still 28 episodes of material and enough to wrap up that grade, without dragging it out for so long. But something tells me they’re going to keep Eli/Drew around for as long as they can.

I think addressing anti-gay slurs is a good way for the season to start with the characters Fi, Imogen, Tristan, and Adam. Meh… Marisol’s character is so one-dimensional. I hope the episodes with her is better than it sounds. Also, I agree with the people who suggest introducing more niners instead of older characters. Imogen was introduced SO late…. Start young so we have time to grow with the characters. Also, I wouldn’t mind if the show scaled back on how many main characters there are, so we could devote more time to them. There are just so many new ones that keep getting introduced. I would have much rather had more storylines around Adam than say Jake this past season. Just sayin.

Who is Asher? In one of the descriptions it says that clare tries to impress asher and he end up sexually assulting her. Who is he? Someone please reply. Oh and i do think that this insomnia thing will do soemthing bad for Clare. I highly doubt she will say something mean about a character. I do think she will tell someone about what Asher did to her without noticing it slipped out. PLEASE TELL ME WHO ASHER IS?! :(

well from the episode that says Clare will write an article in the school newspaper that makes mike Dallas her enemy…. The character description says that Mike Dallas is very “papa bear” with all the guys on his hockey team, so my guess is that Asher is a lesser character on the hockey team.

I would REALLY like to see some more interactions with Adam, Eli, and Clare this season. I really enjoy all three characters. Clare and Eli are a strange and possibly unrealistic match that intrigues me in some odd way. Also, I don’t think I will particularly enjoy Becky. She seems overly bubbly and naïve. Just my opinion.
