What would tear the school apart I don’t think its going to spots per ce. I think maybe some of the team members maybe part of the Jesus Club. What would start a conflict with Owen maybe his brother Tristan being Gay, Drews brother a transgender. Clare being of Christain faith could put her and Eli at odds sense hes atheist. Believeit or not this is a big problem in many schools & communities not everyone is open minded.

I think for the first couple of episodes the uniform will remain in tact (thus Maya and Tori still in uniform) then early on in season 12 the uniforms will go away with the exception of the I.D. tags.

I’m really kinda hoping it is a LGBT support and anti-support thing. Where the school is being torn apart from people who support and don’t support. I went to Catholic HS school many years ago, and i knew several people who tired to hide that fact to prevent such conflicts. And this is a serious conflict that people of all ages deal with. I think that could be an intersecting plot to bring to life.
However i can also see this as Lakehusrt rehash. But frankly i don’t see that being as interesting of a plot for a second time. Its kind like been there done that. Let’s see something new.

Homophobia happens in all places… not just catholic high schools. I go to a catholic high school and we have a great support system there for our LGBT community :) I totally agree with the idea that it could actually be a really cool plot to deal with. The only reason I bring it up is that like 3 people on the blog thus far have linked homophobia and catholic schools so I just wanted to make it clear we aren’t all homophobes :P

I have no clue, Jeremy. I don’t even know if those are legit. But it just seems like they fall in line with the promo. Plus, the promo showed Owen. We all know he’s a huge homophobe. I wonder what this will mean for Tristan, Bianca, Imogen and Adam. Interesting stuff. This also totally falls in line with all of the gay bashing and bullying that has been going on in the news lately. I wonder if they’ll use this to also tackle that suicide plotline they’ve been wanting to do?

I’m surprised they didn’t air the summer promo. 2 years ago, they aired Shark In The Water right after Season 9 ended, which was on May 21st, so I thought the similar dates would mean we could expect the Season 12 promo right after, but I guess not.
Steal Your Heart came out May 27, so once again, similar date, but they wouldn’t release it this close to the end of the season (wouldn’t make sense to release it in a week when they held off on it this week), so I honestly don’t know when the summer promo will come. But it’s already completely filmed so it’s probably in final production stages now.

Come to think of it, there are a lot of Degrassi characters lately with a strong tie to LGBT now. And that includes homophobes like Owen who just happens to have a gay younger brother. There’s newly lesbian Fimogen. Adam is transgender. Many of these characters are seen in the promo so I would agree with previous comments on the Jesus club division and what not. I also believe the episode descriptions are real as it all fits too well.

Well, Eli sounded pissed off, so I’m thinking if the descriptions are right, Becky’s either commenting on how she thinks it’s wrong and Eli’s agreeing but kind of telling her it goes on at Degrassi or she’s a homophobe who just said something about how she doesn’t like gay people and Eli’s saying that it’s degrassi, there’s gay people, get over it.

Did you see the poster behind the new guy I think his name is Luke. Anyway it say Romeo & Jules. Eli is directing a new play and This Becky girl is suppose to help him. I bet this new play is about 2 male homosexual lovers. I Bet Becky is a homophobic and is going to have issues about it.

I haven’t seen any official released information about Becky so I won’t jump to conclusions especially since those were among several chopped up scenes but somehow they became a bigger focus than anything else like the stare down with Drew and the new guy. For all we know Becky and Eli become friends or they become endgame and Eli is happy.

Honestly, I kind of liked this episode. There wasn’t any huge intense major drama and it was refreshing. Fiona’s plot DID wrap up a little too nicely, but I can see from a writer’s stand-point that with all the new material of season 12 they need to wrap up this season. And not gonna lie, but despite the limited development with Eli and Clare the kiss was welcomed by me. I was expecting the usual “We should be friends right?” kind of moment, but with an actual kiss it gave me (and I’m sure overly excited Eclare shippers) something to enjoy that was unexpected. Maya’s plot was meh to me. Not much happened. She just had a talk with her dad and got over her issues.

“A Hockey team will be introduced.” What’s not clear is if these characters will be coming from another school or if they’ll all have “already been at Degrassi” Like Katie was, which I hate because I like to see characters develop and grow, I don’t like that Katie, for instance, was already this school leader but we’d never heard her name before her first episode. It would be nice to see these characters come into what makes them who they are instead of being told who they are.

The scenery from Eli and Becky are completely different. They’re likely not even talking to each other but for some people being within seconds of each other’s sentences is a red flag. Becky could be standing in a river while Eli is at the dentist office and there would still be some irrational hatred for Becky, someone we know so very little about.

Degrassi before the big re-formatting always had each character with their own running conflict that when on for entire fleshed-out story archs (not just a single episode or…two episodes as a stretch). Then after the reformatting the characters have problems that pop up into their lives out of nowhere and then seem to resolve themselves off screen. Actually scratch that, everything happens off-screen!
What I think it really comes down to is the absence of the big group of friends from the old days. We watched Emma, Paige and etc for how many years? When JT died, I actually felt something. I think I remember watching Marco realize he was gay and Toby develop an eating disorder before I was in high school. If Ali, Jake, or Emma died I wouldn’t miss them. I just can’t understand why they’ve changed their show so much! It is so much worse. This show used to be amazing. Now it’s just…confusing and boring. So the second half of season twelve Fiona will be gone for good? Eli will be gone for good? I don’t even know what grades these people are in anymore. But Mo will def be gone for good. So, what was the point of his character? The bonding with Sev–whose gone forever now. The bonding with Conner? All pointless?
I just hope a school-wide conflict plot will somewhat make up for these characters whose lives happen off-screen and then they come back for five seconds to tell us what happened. Then again, it’s hard to surpass a story-line like Craig’s, my gawd he went from an abusive home to going on tour. And Ashley fining out about her dad, then moving. Ellie and her mother. That kid who brought a gun to school–that kid’s story actually changed me (yet I can’t remember his name). I actually get flashbacks of that episode. This new show will never achieve this. I think it’s time to say good-bye to Degrassi guys. And hello to…the soap for preteens.

Read: Nostalgia. Old degrassi had alot of bad episodes and plots too. Granted the show was kind of better overall back then, but not that much of a leap, honestly.
The boiling point was the best the show had been since like season 4, in my opinion.
