From a generic perspective, this is the kind of episode that can go either way for me.  After all that time and effort they put into creating a twisted, damaging relationship between Eli and Imogen in Now Or Never, it’s so disappointing that the show decided to just slap them together as a couple in a matter of seconds in 11.5.  That’s not to say Imogeli isn’t compatible or doesn’t have potential for chemistry…we just don’t know, because (like with 99% of the show’s couples these days) the show would rather just tell us they’ve got chemistry instead of show us, and continue to promote a ship war that now only exists in the minds of fans on either side of it.  Hopefully the focal point of this episode truly is the insecurities of Eli, whose ongoing dealings with bipolar disorder are a strong point of the show.

SIDE NOTE: One of the things I love is how characters now take on multiple “roles” on the show. Instead of just being someone who we only see when the episode is about them, we see primary characters playing support roles as well.  Eli’s bipolar disorder benefits from this greatly.  Back in the day when a character had a disorder or something we’d only see them when they were dealing with it…it’s easy to label someone as “crazy” when all you see is them freaking out.  Since Eli’s meltdown, we’ve seen him in many episodes where he’s behaving just fine, and I like the balance that gives us.

Oh yeah…I know it’s a long shot, but it’d be kinda hilarious if KC stole Tyson and went on the run, and Tori punched Marisol in the face.

I would love to see Tori, Imogen or Fiona punch Marisol in the face.

I can see KC maybe thinking of kidnapping Tyson but I don’t think it will happen. It would be great storyline and has never been done on Degrassi.

Eli and his insecurities about him being bipolar is pretty damn real. I have known a few people with bipolar and it took them along time to overcome their insecurties. The only thing that was cool about the promo Imogen actually wants to understand it more. Most people get spooked or walk away from it. Imogen is insecure too as most naive teenage girls. I have a feeling Eli is going to scare Imogen with his anger and Imogen may try to avoid him leading him to think she is cheating. Oh, don’t forget Eli has OCD too.

First of all, Marisol would knock Tori’s little, annoying, whiny ass out. Nice try.

ANYWAY, as much as I love Eclare, I don’t have much of an issue with Imogeli. I would have much preferred Eli to stay single but Imogen isn’t a bad choice. Their relationship could turn out better this time. Remember, in Now or Never, Eli was still stuck on Clare and acting erratically due to him refusing to take his meds. Imogen was once obsessed but then she told herself she deserves better(at least that’s what she told Bianca). Neither Eli or Imogen were in their right minds THEN but they could be now. Well…..obviously, there will be some drama, I just hope it’s nothing extreme.

Oh yeah, I can’t wait to see how baby Tyson is doing.

The new parenting issue between Eli and his dad are part of the stress that may trigger a mild mania episode later on. Eli’s parents let him have too much independence and now his parents are tring to shelter him. I know its very backwards but understanding. I think that stress his insecurites, his parents worried about his safety and the portrait of Eli that Imogen made is going to set him off. Knowing Imogen she is going to get hurt and scared. She may try to calm him by tring to talk to him about how he is feeling. This is pretty darn normal for people with this illness. They are embarrassed because this something that they can’t control without medication. My biggest fear with Eli later on is going to become sexually or physically aggressive which is very common for men who are bipolar. With or without medication.

Not really sure about the Imogeli or the Tori plot, but I am looking forward to KC and his reaction to Ty’s new family.

BTW, I LOVE that they didn’t just cast away Eli’s bipolar disorder and forget it ever happened.

BTW, I love that they didn’t just dismiss Eli’s bipolar disorder and pretend it never happened. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing Eli go crazy again.

    Ok tonight’s episode..
K.C. and Jenna with Jake- I really don’t care much about them. Funny though Jenna told K.C. about going to the mall and from the looks of it Jake didn’t know at all. Awww K.C. and the baby made me so sad :'(
Eli and Imogen- Wow… this one is interesting.
    1. Imogen and Eli don’t have chemistry.
    2. I don’t know but i liked them better as friends.
    3. Bullfrog is making things REALLY awkward.
    4. I think Fiona is kinda getting pushy, and stressing Eli out a little. Don’t tell him to do anything, running makes him feel good and relax. Then let the kid run! Lol
Another thing they made it sound like he broke the camera on purpose. No it looked like he did it on accident, turned and put his hand on the table and it fell.
Also as soon as Bullfrog walked through that door pissed about his guitar, Damn i knew he pawned it. Stupid stupid move Eli… Poor awkward moment for Adam..
    One more thing. ADAM!!!!!!!!!!! :DDDD

    Manny Santos references:
    1: Tori Santomaria (Manny Santos)
2: Her becoming the mascot. Marisol (Paige): “The team does need a mascot.” Tori (Manny) “You can’t be serious?”

lol good job writers. Good job.

I hate the current cast and the new episodes.

Clare needs to drop a few pounds and stop whining.

Fiona needs a nose job. She can afford it I’m sure.

Marisol is dumb, ghetto bimbo whore.

I hope Katie throws up blood. Stupid Bullemic.and she’s ugly.

    Zig is boring and ugly.

    Maya is trash.

    Tori is a attention whore.

    Tristan is a fat queer.

Bianca is a dirty, stinky-twat hoe.

Eli belongs in a mental hospital.

Jake is a dumb stupid redneck.

A ton of this is highly offensive to the cast and to real issues happening today (bulimia, abuse etc.) You should learn to voice your opinions in a nicer, more educated manner before you start commenting on random posts online.

That was completely out of line. If you don’t like the show, feel free to stop watching it. Quite frankly, complete inability to approach any of the characters with compassion and understanding would make it impossible for you to enjoy watching it anyway.

Let me start by saying that this was one of the best episodes of Degrassi I’ve seen in a while. The issues brought up were very real, and it was easy to sympathize with almost all characters, even when their points of view were diametrically opposite of each other. Eli is still struggling with the symptoms of his bipolar disorder, but at the same time, he has to deal with the stigma associated with it and the fact that people don’t treat him normally, which only ends up exacerbating those symptoms. I loved that until the end of the episode, it seemed like everyone else might have been overreacting about his potential for breaking down again, but then it turns out that the situation is more complicated than that. Meanwhile, clearly afraid for his son’s mental welfare, Bullfrog is trying to put down some ground rules, but the complete turnaround from his original laissez-faire approach to parenting ends up making Eli feel even more marginalized. As for Imogen, I agree with Kary that it’s a shame that her relationship with Eli hasn’t been developed any further. Her wish to help Eli out with his mental blocks, however, was very understandable, if a tad condescending. She is still very young, and it’s easy to mistake compassion with love. Also, something seems to be kind of off with her dad, which makes me think that her connection with Eli might be resonating with her family situation. Then there are KC, who is unable to let go of his son the way his own father had let go of him, and Jenna, who is afraid of that even seeing Ty/Doug once might emotionally kill her. I really hope that KC’s storyline doesn’t devolve into kidnapping. It’s too soap-operish and would detract from the true complexity of the situation. Finally, there are Zig and Tori, proving to us once again how completely unsuitable they are for each other. Neither of them takes the other’s interests seriously and/or tries to get to know the other better. It’s pretty understandable since Tori is in that relationship because having an attractive boyfriend is a boost to her self-esteem, while Zig is dating Tori because couldn’t come up with a reason not to. Sooner or later, they’ll have to grow up and realize that neither of these is a basis for a healthy relationship.
