Why is Clare always causing a scene at the dinner table?  Ms. Edwards is going to lose her mind in tonight’s episode after Jake invites Jenna over for dinner.

E! Online has posted a clip of the dinner scene, which you can watch here.  I’m actually pretty excited for all three storylines: watching Clare finally reach the breaking point, pretending in my head that Fimogeli will have some sort of freaky threesome that no mind condom could ever protect us from, and the Mo/Connor stuff.  Speaking off Connor, to pass the time until the episode here is an unrelated trailer I made about Connor’s panty storyline had it been made into a movie:

I wouldn’t be nice either especially since the breakup was so new and Jake bringing Jenna was a one-two punch to Clare. While Alli defended Jenna in a promo, I bet Alli wouldn’t be so supportive if Jenna “Clare’s” Alli and went for Dave next. Clare hasn’t been able to find a true good friend in either girls when it came to her guys since they both betrayed her knowing full well how she loved that boy (KC; Jake) and completely disregarded her feelings to get what they wanted.

Its not like Jenna has a lot of options, the only single characters that Clare hasn’t been involved with are Mo, Connor, Dave (who she already turned down) and Owen. Cut her some slack people. And she had a baby, not many guys would date a girl with a kid adopted or not. Plus she didnt steal Jake, Clare and Jake broke up before Jenna ever met him. Thats not stealing.

Don’t forget Liam, Adam, and Eli (atm :D) ! Owen isn’t single, he’s in a long distant relationship with Anya.

If there was another guy in between two of Clare’s ex, it wouldn’t have sparked so much drama. Heck Jake for the first half of the season was “just there” to be Clare’s boyfriend so yes the writers could’ve added a minor new character for a love interest but Jake makes it more semi interesting.

Jenna’s history as a self admitted boyfriend stealer isn’t something easily forgotten. Just because she had Tyson and ended things with KC, doesn’t mean she won’t be a boyfriend stealer again. Considering their history, I don’t see why Jenna would think Clare would be nice and all smiles.

I said not involved with Clare, so Eli doesn’t count and neither does Liam since there is no indication he will ever come back.

And Jenna didn’t steal Jake. Stealing is taking something that belongs to someone else, Jake and Clare broke up. Jenna never spoke to or even knew Jake existed when they were together. Jake showed interest in Jenna first after his relationship with Clare ended. HOW IS THAT STEALING!?!? And Jenna is being the most mature in the whole scenario, she went to Jakes house assuming Clare wouldnt be there and the moment Clare vocals her discomfort she tries to leave. How come even when Jenna is the rational one everyone puts all the blame on her? Jenna and Clare haven’t been friends in awhile, and Jenna can date whoever the hell she wants. She doesn’t need anyone’s approval.

There are options other than Jake and there’s always single hood, but the writers seem more inclined to have people in relationships and not on their own. Heck, Jake just got out of a relationship barely a few episodes ago and now he’s bringing a potential love interest to meet the folks way early.

Jenna (and KC) betrayed Clare when they were friends and if not for that they could’ve had a decent friendship. I never claimed nor believe Jenna stole Jake from Clare. All that is confirmed is that Jenna knew they recently broke up. Jenna wasn’t immature tonight and not everyone is putting blame on her either. But not everyone finds her a sympathetic character in general despite the Tyson storyline since she has other flaws.

Jenna and Clare can date whoever they want, but they’ll always be judged because they make mistakes and have lost friendships or relationships as a result.

Liam has been listed as a reoccurring character and it’s early in the second half so it’s possible.

Exactly, and her mother used to be so religious and so judgmental. While I agree that Clare has changed and has become totally obsessed with boys, her entire world fell apart everything she knew and thought has been changed. I actually pity Clare, the girl doesn’t know who she is anymore.

As cringe worthy as that dinner scene was, that was good material. Helen is a whole new woman (but her response to Jenna was a little shocking/interesting) and a mother that is failing her daughter. Helen spent this season so far focused on her wants and needs. She has yet to have a real heart-to-heart sit down with her daughter about any issues the divorce is causing her and appears to think Clare should be able to handle this life altering choice her parents made but flips when it’s clear she’s not handling things. And of course Clare’s own father is so MIA throughout this ordeal.

No one is in Clare’s corner now that Jake and Alli aren’t there so it’s no wonder she becomes vulnerable to Summer.

Glenn has been there less than a few months and they (Clare and he) barely had any interaction (neither making much of an effort) before the marriage to establish any sort of relationship so her retort wasn’t a shock to me.

The first thing my parents did was talked to us kids about their divorce and our feelings. They did the same thing when they both remarried. Some parents assume its ok but in reality its not. Helen needs to get her head out her ass and take charge of her daughter. Unless Helen was brought were the man was the disciplinary roll. The other thing that bothers me about Glen and Helen it seems they are hiding something from Jake and Clare.

People could hate Clare and/or Jenna for whatever reasons they want, but honestly, I think that it’s expected of Clare to act this way.

    1. What she said towards Glen? Expected. She never had a “real” relationship with him and she never had closure for her parents divorce. Like people above have said, she’s still obviously not used to this.

    2. What she said towards Helen? I would have said it too. She WAS being extremely hypocritical. My mom is like Helen too and if my mom ever said anything like that, I’d be like “did you lose your mind or something? What happened to you being so religious?” etc.

    3. What she said towards Jake/Jenna? That was kind of harsh, but just think about her history with Jenna.. Jenna practically made KC break up with Clare and is now scooping up Jake? Clare DID break up with Jake but it’s obvious she didn’t want to do it and still likes Jake. Of all people Jake could go for now, it’s Jenna?

I liked Season 8 Clare, and Season 9 Clare, and Season 10 Clare.
But in Season 11, Clare’s character has gone so far downhill in my mind, I can’t even begin to describe how unwatchable she is. The only episodes where I’ve been able to tolerate her and the ones where someone else is carrying the storyline, like in Extraordinary Machine where Eli’s plot was intriguing enough to keep me from noticing her.

I feel like a lot of people think clares behavior is annoying, and it is, but I do believe her behavior is justifiable. Everything has changed around her, her parents divorce, her opinion on her parents and their actions, and her rocky relationships with her friends and boyfriends, all this pushing her to become extremely selfish. Right know Clares looking for acceptance and pretty much a family, although her definition of family and relationships are completely distorted after dealing with her parents divorce. So what does she do? She pushes herself into a relationship she knows wont go anywhere, desperately trying to find something stable in her life. When she’s in a relationship she puts her focus completely on that relationship and ostracizes the people that were once close to her or who those who have somewhat betrayed her ( Mom, Dad, Conner, Alli, Eli, Jake). Clare is a crazy complex and there’s way more I could get into with her my analyses on Clare but I wont because there’s so much to clare its crazy but pretty much after everything so far on the show Clares pretty much mind fucked and is just looking for happiness

Is it just me, or is this the best part-one episode we’ve ever had? Ramona Barckert needs to just write every episode.

I think the only upperclassman left I can root for at this point is Connor. The assholery of the seniors is so astounding, I almost can’t get mad at it. But if they keep Connor around, I can see him becoming a favorite of mine, and AJ Saudin plays him wonderfully.

Clare had thee best lines tonight. It’s SO, SO refreshing to finally focus on her character FINALLY. I’ve been begging for them to focus on her issues for I don’t know how long. And I know I’m not the only one that got a cult-ish vibe from those people, but I have no idea what Clare’s going to walk in on next week. Dis gon be gooooood.

I found myself feeling pity for Clare to a certain extent. It’s sad that she has no one she could confide in anymore. Where’s Adam when you need him to knock some common sense into her. I can understand why Clare would call Jenna a “serial boyfriend stealer” but for the love of god, Jenna didn’t steal Jake from her. I’m actually glad her plot is focused on her breakdown and the dangers of joining a cult rather than her bitching at Jenna for an half hour.

Fiona/Imogen/Eli plot is cute. There’s really not much to say about this.

Welcome back Connor! I’m impressed with his storyline and it’s nice to see some KC/Connor interaction again. Wesley needs to come back though! Degrassi needs more of him.

I liked this episode a whole lot for a bunch of reasons.

1.) Clare wasn’t completely annoying this episode. Here actions made sense for once. Any kid dealing with a new step-parent would snap at them obviously and for Jenna to be the girl that Jake begins to date would quite obviously upset her or anyone else in that situation.

2.) Connor’s plot is relatable on many levels. While not everyone has Aspergers, everyone has dealt with a situation where they had trouble fitting in.

3.) Fiona is dealing with her situation in a “questionable” way, but it’s believable and, again, it makes sense for her character to handle it this way.

4.) The dark turn that Clare’s story line took isn’t unbelievably cheesy. It actually gave me chills, because of how incredibly tight of a hold this new “family” has on Clare and it’s obvious that if Clare tried to leave things could get very dangerous.

Speaking of Bianca, is she going to get a main plot in this spring block of episodes?
    Notes:
While I am extremely annoyed with Clare’s constant whining like most people, I am excited to see what the “big secret” at Summer’s is. Although in terms of Part 1 episodes ending in a cliff hanger, it would have been much better for them to show Clare walking in on them doing whatever it was they were doing at the end of this episode rather than relying on the promo to build suspense. Any guesses on what the big reveal is?
I didn’t care about Fiona/Eli/Imogen tonight. Partly because I was into Connor’s plot, but it just didn’t really attract my attention. Excited to see the football plot again, because we’ve had good success in terms of plots with Degrassi’s football team in my mind… Bad Medicine was good, 99 Problems was strong, Still Fighting It tied in with the team and was another decent episode… Hopefully the plot will be good as it switches to a prank on Mo next week.

I think Hollaback Girl (the 2nd to last episode, right before “In The Cold, Cold Night” will feature Bianca and Katie and Drew. There was a promo clip of Bianca and Drew making out and a clip of Bianca spraying water at Katie. There’s been no mention about that plot in any of the episode descriptions we have so far, so it’s safe to assume it’s going to be Hollaback Girl since it seems like a main-plot (and even the name just fits Bianca so well) and In The Cold, Cold Night is probably a main Eclare plot.

I’m excited to see the big secret too. I didn’t think of cults until I came on here, I just thought they were child molesters or something but I wasn’t quite sure how they kept those other kids around if they were child molesters. A cult would make sense, I think that’d be a really dark turn for Degrassi, the kind of risk these writers need to take to redeem themselves.

It was nice to see Clare being forced to be independent throughout the episode, but my heart did go out her when she and Ali confronted one another. I am very curious about what this family’s deal is. A piece of me can see the cult vibe that everyone else is getting, but my initial reaction was that it dealt with human trafficking(or some other sex scandal). I’m not sure if Degrassi would dive into such a deep topic as human trafficking, but they have been pushing the envelope each season.

I just laughed at Connor’s storyline. Connor on the football team? That dude isn’t athletic. way too unrealistic to buy into. They could’ve found some other way to make Connor try to fit in with Mo

Great episode. I think the best so far, and if this family storyline turns out well, then the next episode looks to be even better. Loved that they finally started teasing out why Clare has been acting the way she has. It’s never been about “relationships” like all the Clare-haters say. She just hasn’t been able to adjust to all the changes at home and the realization that her parents are very, very flawed and human themselves, while at the same time growing up and entering young adulthood. As someone whose parents have gone through a similar situation of infidelity, divorce, and abandonment by my father, I can certainly relate to her. It does make you feel crazy and like you can’t trust the goodness in people anymore. Of course, she’s handled it very badly, has isolated herself from her friends and family, and has become more annoying and whiny to watch, but she’s tried to reach out to both of her parents and they seem content to watch her flounder while they date new people, rather than talking to her or taking her to family counseling. Hopefully, we’ll start to see her mature and regain some of the old Clare once everything resolves itself.

While I sympathize with Claire and her situation, I feel like she has read enough in her life to recognize that one of the first things that cults, pimps, and human traffickers do is to isolate their victims by encouraging them to cut off all lines of communication with their loved ones.

But, hey, the writers may endear us to Claire again by actually making her a victim instead of her acting like a victim when she’s really not. What a stroke of genius!

I do ship Eli and Imogen romantically. I feel that the writers are pushing Imogen and Fiona so Eclare can get back together for the Eclare fandom. I bet Eli is going to be Clare’s whitenight at the season final. If that happens the writers are setting a bad example about relationships. Clare needs her family back and therapy. Eli and Clare should be done and move on. Endgame in high school romances is very unlikely. Clare needs to find her path without boys because they clould her best judgement. She needs her parents and to find her faith. Sorry for the rant. I am just sick of people being blinded by Eclare.

I agree completely, I never got the appeal of Elcare (I personally found all of their plots to be boring except All Falls Down), and the one thing a show should never do is pander to the fanbase. Fan service is fine, but there is a limit. The whole trailer with “The moment you’ve been waiting for” actually has me dreading that episode. You shouldn’t ever sacrifice story in favor of pleasing a vocal minority or majority, especially when you have a large ensemble cast and you don’t give them all equal screen time.

You’re allowed to ship what you want, but how exactly is Imogeli setting a good example about relationships? Everything that happened between them in Now or Never proved just how wrong they are for each other. The ways in which they manipulated each other to further their own agendas regardless of each other’s well-being and feelings have never sat well with me. I also never felt comfortable with how it seemed like Imogen was always trying to mold herself to what she thought Eli desired, and in the end, it still wasn’t good enough for him. In my opinion, telling girls “Hey, you should do whatever you can to get the guy no matter how damaging it is to your self-worth because you’ll get him in the end anyway” is a far more dangerous message to young girls about relationships. At least with Fiona it feels like we’re seeing the real Imogen who isn’t playing any games. And even if I could accept that Imogen and Eli could forgive each other so quickly, I also think Imogeli right now feels beyond forced. When the hell did Eli suddenly develop feelings for Imogen? It’s just another bad case of the writers playing the whole tell-don’t-show game. I’d rather Imogeli remain diabolical friends. Plus Eli’s in no position to date anyone right now anyways.

Also, for the record, I do not ship Eclare right now.

For the record have you not seen the incredible change in Eli? Yes you have Imogens intentions was to help Eli and yes she manipulated him but not in the way you think. Its called reverse psychology she thought Eli just had anxiety. Unfortunately it backfired very badly that it triggered his mania ended up hurting many people. Now If she knew he was bipolar I believe she should have never taken his pills. I mostly blame Eli and his parents not Imogen.

Of course I have seen the incredible change in Eli (it’s becoming too Munro-ish for my liking, but whatever), and since he’s my favorite male character right now, I’m grateful that he gets some stability for once. But that doesn’t mean he’s ready to date, and according to future episode descriptions, his parents seem to agree. And I think you’re right that Imogen was naive about the situation to an extent, but I think that further proves why they shouldn’t be together. I think she’s just too naive about the world and people to handle someone like Eli. I don’t blame Imogen entirely for the situation either, but she did play a part.

Also this is another reason why I don’t like Imogeli that I found on Tumblr: “I don’t think they’d be healthy. It was SO scary to see how much power Eli had over Imogen when they weren’t even together – I can only imagine what it’d be like for Imogen if they actually got together. They also both have dependent and obsessive personalities, which wouldn’t make for a healthy relationship either. Eli needs someone who can be calm for him and keep him out of trouble, not a quirky girl who enables him, seems to try to hard and doesn’t know who she is.”

I am dreading the inevitable Eli/Imogen romance. Eli has made so much progress this season. He needs to continue to focus on his own well-being & dealing with his diagnosis. the last thing he needs is a girlfriend. I would much rather see Fiona & Imogen as a couple. They have good chemistry, and it would be nice to see Fiona get the girl for a change. I freely admit that I am rooting for an Eclare reunion….but not yet. What we really need is the return of the Adam/Clare/Eli triad. Which brings me to the most important question of all: WHERE’S ADAM? Five new episodes & not so much as a glimpse of Adam is criminal!!!

I’m 99% sure Fimogen is going to happen. In an interview with AfterEllen.com:

AE: So what’s going to be up with Fiona for this season? And you say she’s sticking around for next season?
AC: Yes, I think I can say that. [Laughs] She’s definitely in this next half of the season, and she’s set to be in season 12, too. For this season that we’ve just filmed, all of her friends graduated, so she’s trying to find her place in a new group of friends and trying to kind of reinvent herself a bit. And she gets herself into a really good new relationship. Like, the only healthy relationship we’ve seen her in, with a character that we’ve already met.

AE: Oh, we’ll look forward to this!
AC: Yes, I think you’re going to be excited.

AE: Is it Charlie, or someone else?
      AC: It’s not Charlie.

      AE: So someone else.
AC: Someone we know, but they’ve never been together before.

The character is Imogen, of course. While “relationship” does not necessarily mean “romance”, the fact that Annie says it’s the “only healthy relationship” Fiona’s ever been in makes it pretty safe to say that it will be a romantic one, as many of Fiona’s friendships (Holly J, Eli) have been very healthy.

There have been hints that they’ll get together: Imogen’s excitement at getting invited to Fiona’s party, her enthusiasm at learning that the two of them have things in common during the last episode (which was super cute), her claim that they “must be soulmates”, her insistence that she’s over Eli.

To be honest, I would have preferred to see one more plot featuring the two of them before Fiona’s crush developed, something just focusing on them getting to spend more time together as friends. I would have liked to have had a little more of a surprise (even though we knew it was coming from the episode descriptions we’ve been seeing for the past month).

RIGHT?! Clare keeps talking about how she has no one, but I’m pretty sure Adam would’ve welcomed her into his home with open arms. So irritating that the writers have been discounting their friendship lately.

I dont think you have to worry about Eli and Imogen’s romance lasting very long. Maybe 2 episodes if that. They are just using it as a way to get Eclare and Fimogen together. I just hope that Fiona and Eli’s friendship survives this drama. They are good for each other, But I cant wait to see how Fimogen unfolds.

I HAD A DREAM THAT THE ‘HUGE SECRET’ ABOUT THE NEXT EPISODE IS THAT THEY ALL WERE CONNECTED TO A MURDER AND IN THE PREVIEW THEY WERE DRAGGING A BODY TO THE RAVINE LOL. BUT IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE PREVIEW WHEN JAKE AND THE GUY ARE GETTING INTO IT YOU CAN SEE THAT THEY ARE GROWING A SHITLOAD ON WEED IN ONE OF THE ROOMS IN THE BACKGROUND. I DON’T FIND THAT AS SUCH A HUGE SECRET. I KINDA FIGURED THEY WERE POTHEADS OR SOMETHING OF THE SORT RELATED TO DRUGS

So I liked this episode a lot. Aislinn IMO was acting way more realistically than in The first half of season 11. And her acting was a little funny at times too, which I havent seen. Like when she was on her bed and jenna and jake walked in, the dialogue between them was funny there, and beside the last comment she made at the dinner table, I didn’t feel she was OVER reacting, like a lot of y’all had said

On a side note I love the cinematography of season 11 since Now or Never. It just feels so crisp and colorful, even though season 10 used the same camera. Season 11 just looks so nice, even if it feels COMPLETELY different than seasons 1-9.

Last thing, I truly miss last years seniors so much. Even Anya and Sav. They were just really attached to me even more so than the original cast (because I started watching seasons 6 on before I ever got a chance to see seasons 1-5) The opening sequence is fun to see the new freshman, but I get sad when I don’t see the old seniors.

The seniors graduation last year sucked too, it was way too fast and not sentimental enough. It focused on other characters that weren’t graduation way too much.

    Im bored, sorry.

Hey Kary did you put up your thoughts on Part 1 yet? I don’t see it but I couldn’t find it for Underneath It All either despite the fact that you did it. Thanks!

There is going to be a point that more people are going to bored with Degrassi if they keep Eli longing for Clare or visa versa is very unhealthy for the characters and the fandom. Degrassi has become a teenage mushy soap opera. And I am at that point after season is over I will be done with the show. I dislike Eclare and Krew. Clare and Eli are the most unrealistic pairing that ever happened on this show. I would love to see Eli date someone like Imogen, Katie or Fiona. Also they are forcing certain couples like Fiona and Imogen When did Fiona all the sudden developing feelings for Imogen? I know Eli and Imogen were attracted to each other before Eli’s mania kicked in at the end of Dirt Off Your Shoulder 2. Fiona’s sudden coming out of the closet? Another note Eli has changed and his feelings for Clare may have changed to so don’t be surprised if they don’t end up together in the season final. BTW I only ship Clare with Jesus.

I don’t think Eli was ever legitimately attracted to Imogen. I think at best he was intrigued by her, and he liked that she was telling him what he wanted to hear. Honestly, these just need to be friends because they make a much better friendship, and I think the same with Eliona. Romance ruins everything.

I would love some KC and Clare interaction… maybe not romantically because I do not believe they are well suited anymore but if they were to be friends and they could even help one another get over Eli or Jenna… I just think it would be such a sick friendship!!

I do miss the friendship between Clare and KC. I think KC has amtured a great deal and seems like he’s more ready to share blame wherever he’s concerned rather than trying to put it all on everyone else. There was something special and adorable about them when they were together, romantically and plationically. A part of me still ships Klare before everything turned bad and there is also the hopeless romantic part of me wishing they’d reconile senior year.

Exactly! I kind of share the same feelings about them rekindling their romance, at the same time however, they are in total different worlds at the moment and though it would be fun, it would probably be strange and kind of forced.. I mean can you see Clare being KC’s girlfriend and hanging out with Drew or Owen? :P

It would be nice though to see the writers give them some form of interaction… I just think that it would be a fun moment :D

If history repeats itself. Allowen(Owen and Alli) and Clew(Clare and Drew) would be endgame. The latter would get married. LOL Let us pray not.

Hey just an open question to anyone who might know it. You know how Jake’s name was originally supposed to be Noah? Do you think they changed it to Jake just so it could be “Cake vs Eclare?”

There might have been a little of that thought pattern im sure :P But Justin Kelly played another character on The Latest Buzz with Munro and his character’s name was Noah on that show :P

I thought Clare would have enough smarts to not move in with a person she talked to for like two minutes at a bookstore. I get that Clare is supposed to be so isolated and vulnerable, but really it’s unbelievable that she wouldn’t find it weird that a perfect stranger is soooo willing to have her runaway to her house. It would have been better if they saw each other frequently at the bookstore and Clare could be lulled into a false sense of security and felt she could trust Summer before moving in.

At any rate, I felt like Summer was going to pimp her out, or turn her into a drug dealer or something. I don’t feel that they could have Clare get in and out of a cult in one episode (as this seems to get resolved at the end of part 2) without it seeming a little ridiculous.
