The broadcast for this year’s Gemini Awards is tonight. The actual ceremony was last week.
Degrassi won for Best Children’s or Youth Fiction Program or Series. Pat Williams won best director for All Falls Down Pt. 2, and Jordan Todosey won best performance for My Body Is A Cage Pt. 2 (we all knew that was coming last year). CONGRATULATIONS ALL!

DEGRASSI GAME
Barring any setbacks, Episode 3 of the Degrassi mobile game should be released sometime next week. They’re making a big deal out of this episode because it will be offered for free, thanks to people whining about having to pay money for the first two episodes.
I believe this will also be the beginning of the ability for you to use Degrassi points to buy episodes in the future. You can still pay the 99 cents per ep to get future episodes asap, but you’ll be able to buy episodes with about 100,000 points (aka you’re gonna have to play through an episode a bunch of times to earn that many).

It’s set to be released on September 27th. I remember when getting the seasons on dvd was exciting, waiting to see what extra/special features might be on them (only to be disappointed year after year). Now I buy them just to make sure my collection is up to date, then go about my way.

Actually that may explain his homophobia. Maybe he’s disappointed in his brother and is hoping he can set an example for him. But at least get a kid that LOOKS like Owen!!! They don’t even look like they could pass for siblings. Not like Sav and Alli!

It is possible that they’re step-brothers or half-brothers. That’s probably the case, since they successfully cast Sav and Alli to look like siblings, as well as Katie and Maya.

Yeah they do actually. This should be interesting. I hope they bring up his homophobia again. And since Fiona is getting held back, she could see Owen for who he is and try to help him. It’s wishful thinking, but I would like to see a Fiona-Owen friendship someday. :)

Well I just double checked Twitter and Lyle never said it was a “brother” that Tristan had. I have grounds to believe he’s Hannah’s brother. They’re both redheads and it makes much more sense.

Check it out around the seventh paragraph. It’s stated explicitly, though it’s always possible that the character was originally conceived as Owen’s brother, but then decided to change it when they cast Lyle. We obviously won’t know for sure until the second half airs.

They are going to release season 10 parts 1 & 2 together on October 18th, 2011 after they release part 2 DVD on September 27th, 2011. That’s how they make more money by making us buy part one and two separately then releasing them together instead of release both together in the first place!

I just looked on Amazon’s website the (United States) one, Degrassi season 10 part 2 is being released on Tuesday September 13th 2011 and now Degrassi season 10 parts 1 & 2 or the complete tenth season is also going to be released on Tuesday September 13th, 2011 not October 18th 2011 anymore, but other retailer’s websites still have the same release date’s Sept. 27 & Oct 18. So I guess Echo Bridge Entertainment is going to release them earlier than we thought. So Amazon.com has them to release this Tuesday September 13th, 2011.

Agreed! They have already won several awards and incredible praise for Adam’s story in season 10. And honestly for me that story restored my faith that Degrassi could be a show that spans over generations as they are still coming up with amazing ideas.

Well to be fair Paige was bicurious at the very least….but I’m certainly not tired of seeing these issues covered. While I’m not always a fan of the way gay characters are handled on the show, I do think they really need to be included. I’m 15 and as of now I have 3 close friends who are in the process of coming out as part of the LGBT community. Homophobia and coming out issues and things of that nature are way too common in highschools today and I think Degrassi really does a decent job of showing that.

I’m pretty sure she was in a full pledged relationship with Alex. She even said, to Griffin, Alex was “the only girl [she] was ever into.” Well, I guess she’s a little bit of bicurious/bisexual.
But hopefully, the new niner, Tristan, is gay and his brother is Owen. I would love to see how that gets handled.

Paige never labelled herself as bisexual. She called herself “undecided”. She would likely never date another girl.
But Degrassi has never featured someone who is openly bisexual, who dates both guys and girls. It would be especially interesting to see a bisexual male character, specifically because bi guys get a bad rap: it’s assumed that guys who call themselves bisexual are either a) straight, or b) gay, but in denial. Girls are “allowed” to be bisexual (even though generally, there is a heavy amount of stigma towards all bisexuals, male and female), but guys aren’t. I think a bisexual male character would be great, especially if he were something of a ladies’ man, a golden boy, but then suddenly become really insecure when he finds himself attracted to a guy. How would his peers and friends react?

But yeah, I agree with you. A bisexual male would definitely “go there” or “get real.” This should definitely be a storyline, sometime in the near future. You hear that Degrassi writers! I can kind of see Jake being bisexual. I don’t know why, though. Well, anything to get him away from the Clare drama!

Paige was bicurious but isn’t that a transition into being a bisexual person? She liked Alex romantically so she dated her, for a while, like almost 2 seasons, and in degrassi time, thats a year, and nobody dates someone of curiosity for a year then calls it quits and says ”Nahh not for me.”

Paige was at most bicurious. For all practical purposes, she’s straight, but just happened to dip her toe into Alex’s pool and enjoyed it. She was a Katy Perry song before Katy Perry sang it!
@Nina: I LOVE THIS IDEA. Bring on a truly bisexual male who isn’t a closeted gay character. In an alternate universe, that would’ve been Declan, but it’s obviously a little late for that ship.

I would hope that it’s Jake because introducing a new character for that is silly. Let it be that “ladies man” with a reputation of breaking hearts like Drew or Jake.
Oh and Paige was straight except the fact that she liked Alex for that period of time. Her case is sorta like the phrase “I would go gay for _____ ” because that was the only person she would be a lesbian with thus making her bi curious and not really fully bi sexual.
