Episode description for Take A Bow: Prom is three days away! Holly J and Anya both have just-a-friend consolation dates for prom (Sav and Riley respectively)… so where does that leave Fiona? The only consolation date she can think of — Charlie — graduated high school years ago. But maybe it’s worth a shot?
Anya’s reached her goal: she’s been accepted into the army! Which means basic training! Starting in two weeks! And Anya can’t even do one chin-up! Gulp. Luckily, she knows someone who knows something about training: Owen.
Yay, Drew and Katie are prom-bound! Which, as Marisol helpfully informs Katie, means Drew will obviously expect sex. Katie’s terrified… she’s barely ever even kissed a boy. Will she just have to get over her fears if she wants to keep Drew?

I don’t think I’m all that excited about the plots themselves, but hopefully the graduation itself will be moving. I find it funny how everyone hated when the seniors first came along…how dare they bring in new characters and start getting rid of the old ones!!! But now everyone’s sad to see them go…even Chantay.
Who are we kidding, we’ll find out Chantay is the new media immersion teacher next year.

II almost forgot to mention, I’m glad to see Holly J and Sav attend the prom together, even though Sav must sneak away for a little loving’with Miss Oh.
I also hope they throw us a token Zane/Riley scene, maybe even a dance as a nice sendoff to the characters.

i am extrememly disappointed in this. not so much as they’re leaving for good but htat htey are leaving so many unfinished plots. now or never has not lived to my expectations. compared to last year this is a let down.

To be fair to Marisol, Drew was getting BJ’s from Bianca down in the boiler room like four or five months prior to now in the show’s timeline. It’s not THAT far of a jump for Marisol to make.

A shoplifting plot sounds like a good starter plot for one of the new niners! Maybe Katie’s sister, since in the one photo we’ve seen, she seems like she’ll be a goody-two-shoes like Clare was in Grade 9 and she’ll struggle with it.

No matter how hard they try to sell Owen and Anya, I will never buy them as a couple. I can’t believe she’s going to blow off Riley for that loser.
Eli and Fiona were by far the best part of the episode. The locker scene was hilarious. I really need them to always share a plot with one another!
Poor Chantay. They couldn’t even include her with the rest of the graduating girls? It was nice to see Anya and HJ hanging out again though.
Katie/Drew/Marisol bore me to tears. This should have been an all senior episode, Sav and Zane included.

Chantay? It’s not really hatred, but I get a kick out of the fact that she’s been on the show since 2004 and has had no significant purpose. She should have graduated with Emma, but she stuck around for some ridiculous reason.

YES! to Fiona and Eli. Those actors have superb comic chemistry together, and it was great to see a “dark” character like Eli just being silly. I hope they continue to appear in one another’s plots.

They are just so much fun together. It was definitely the best decision this season to pair them up in the play and develop a friendship from there.

Fiona/Charlie- This plot kind of worked in an unexpected way. At first, the thought of more Charlie made me totally dread this episode. And I was right; it was basically a rerun of every other Farlie plot they’ve had all season. However, when alcohol was introduced into the mix, it added a familiar dynamic that wasn’t too obvious, but definitely wasn’t unrealistic. I love that she actually drank, rather than using her coping skills to avoid it. Relapse is an important part of recovery, and I’m excited to where the story goes tomorrow. B-
Anya/Owen- This plot seemed like it should have been a C-plot, some watching Anya do chin-ups for two minutes was definitely not the best way Degrassi could have spent an episode. However, I like that Owen cares enough about Anya to forgive her, and even help her. That really brought a new level to him that I hadn’t really seen before. I think the kiss at the end was perfect. It seemed like that spur-of-the-moment kiss that would really solidify the mutual feelings of attraction. This plot definitely need to pick up pace on the second half, as I found myself bored. C
Drew/Katie- Marisol’s statements about Drew wanting sex were both conclusive and warranted. While she has no proof that he wants sex, she uses her knowledge of past events to try to help Katie. This was another plot that was pretty boring, as Krew just isn’t fun. Maybe it’s because Katie is new, or because Drew’s last girl was Bianca, but they seem boring as a couple. I did like, however, the way their scene was handled, when he thought that she wanted sex. It was delightfully awkward, and I understood where they both were coming from. This is a plot that could show potential when Prom comes along. We’ll see… But for now, it’s pretty lackluster. C-

This episode really made me enjoy Katie. I like that we’re seeing the more awkward, nervous, unconfident side of her underneath all of the responsibilities and activities she surrounds herself with.

Tonight’s episode seemed really full (content wise), some episodes of Degrassi fly by for me but this one felt longer than 30 mins for some reason (and I mean that in a good way).
Katie/Marisol/Drew- I’m still not especially into Krew, I kinda feel that the whole you’ve-seen me-at-my-worst bond that they’re forging is believable but I’m just not into it. I’m unsure why the writers would end last week as if there would be ongoing tension between Drew & Marisol only to quickly solve the issue in the first 5 mins of tonight’s episode. I don’t hate this plot, but it seems really unfocused and I have no idea what it’s leading to and if i’ll even care once it’s fully fleshed out. Also the whole sex thing is just a big question mark for me, I have no idea what Katie’s plan is, was it to ask about getting tested thinking that Drew would refuse and that would buy her time? Color me confused.
Anya/Owen- So this plot falls under what I like to call “A willing suspension of disbelief”, which audiences frequently have to undertake when movies and films present plots that are so unrealistic it threatens the enjoyment of the storytelling. First, how could Anya not know that she needed to do physical training before entering the military? When she was doing all of her research, how did she miss that key fact? Second, Why couldn’t Riley or Zane help Anya train for the military? Both are her friends and are physically fit- not to mention they could use the screen time. Third and lastly, Are we really supposed to believe that in one training session with Owen, Anya went from barely being able to do one chinup to running for over an hour on the treadmill, doing pushups and completing 15 chinups? Now despite the many holes in the believability of this storyline I found myself enjoying Anya for a change, which was nice as a final sendoff for her character. Her and Owen seemed sweet and I like that atypical to what has recently become Degrassi tradition, they were realistic about their relationship coming to an end and instead of saying “I love you” or something equally ridiculous they settled for making the most out of the time they had left together. I also like that they showed Owen as having a heart, and that he wasn’t just some perv who thought Anya was hot, but that he was attracted to her confidence and intelligence. I’m really interested to see what the writers do with Owen’s character next season, he’s started to grow on me so I hope he gets to have another major plot in his senior year.
Fiona- I LOVE Fiona in a main plot, not only because Annie J. Clark is a wonderful actress and brings so much depth to Fiona but also because of all of the A-grade characters she’s connected to. In this episode we got to see her interact with both Holly J and Eli which I loved. I can’t say enough times how much I love ALL ELi/Fiona interaction, their scene in the hallway was by far my favorite of tonight. I was really hoping that Eli would take her up on her offer to go to prom because they would’ve had so much fun but then that would’ve been kind of awkward for Adam. I’m also curious about that, if Eli and Fiona continue their friendship into senior year I wonder what Adam’s reaction will be? I was never that into Fiona and Charlie but I really like that they brought Charlie back at the end of Now or Never. Her time off-screen may the reconnection b/t her and Fiona very believable, they seemed to have so much more chemistry now than I remembered from before. I love that they gave Charlie and girlfriend and threw a wrench into Fiona just getting back with her. I was completely shocked by Fiona drinking again and her closing scene where she talks about feeling unloveable was so touching.
Aside from Fiona I think it’s time for Degrassi to have another serious gay couple thats not fraught with coming out issues or alcoholism. I get that it must be hard to sustain any relationship in high school let alone if you’re gay but we haven’t seen a happy gay couple together since Paige and Alex and even that came with alot of drama. I’m not saying Fiona has to end up with Charlie but it would be nice if they could give her a serious love interest, that we as an audience could grow to care about rather than a random recurring character.

If Katie doesn’t want to have sex with Drew, she shouldn’t have to feel like she has to, just like Marisol said. If Drew dumps her for not having sex, then he wasn’t the right guy (and would be a total loser) anyway. I don’t get the Krew thing anyway. Katie has only kissed one other guy besides Drew and that was a dare. She’s a very private person, who doesn’t do drama, yet she’s already hinting about sex with him & she’s been dating this guy for like 2 weeks. Drew is drama 100%, Katie! She needs to slow down and be friends first for at least a season.

The only problem with giving Fiona another GF is that they’ll have to bring on someone new, because I don’t see them changing Katie or Marisol at this point. I don’t foresee them hooking a 2nd yr senior with a newbie freshman, so they’d have to cast someone new and the show just seems so bloated already.
Either that, or just have her turn back and hook up with Eli ;)

Katie and Drew and Marisol- They were in this EP. That is all I have to say about this plot.
Fiona- Super Funny. Love the Locker scene and the weird dance scene in her condo. Why Cant we see more of this? Super Sad at the end so emotional.
Anya- Why do they have to make her sooooo freaking stupid?? BASIC TRAINING MEANS PHYSICAL STUFF???? REALLY????

Tonight’s episode was pretty good. I even liked the Katie/Drew plot. What does Anya see in Owen?! He introduced her (indirectly) to drugs, harassed Riley, posted about them having sex to the whole school…?! I don’t get her. Ever since Anya went off the deep end and turned into a coke head, I haven’t cared much for her this season. Next to Fiona and Holly J, she was my favorite character. Still, I feel like Anya could have gone to university in the spring, maybe work for the fall term or something. But the military might be good for her.
Katie and Drew…??? Bianca needs to come back. I like Katie a little bit more. I hope she doesn’t do anything stupid.
I felt so sad for Fiona! Charlie really led her on, then broke her heart! All of Fiona’s relationships have been so terrible. For next season, I hope she finds someone decent without all of the drama. Plus, her parents are always gone. Her mom travels to New York and her dad and brother live there. So, poor Fiona is literally alone in Toronto most of the time. Her family needs to come around more often (even if it’s off screen and mentioned in passing), so Fi has a better support system besides Holly J. Especially as a recovering alcoholic, I’m very surprised that her family isn’t around more or that Fiona hadn’t relapsed before tonight’s episode. D:

i am in love with fiona and elis friendship. tonights scene with them rolling over the lokers was hilarious. who ever thought of putting those two together is a genious. it was the best part of the episode. i really liked that fiona asked eli to prom(thats what i was thinking she should do) and i think eli would have gone with her, but he already had plans with adam and hes his pal and they havent spent that much time together i guess. i actually enjoyed anya and owens little moment today. i was really sad to see fiona drinking tonight. im.not really into the krew/ marisol thing so thats all i have to say about that.

Can I just say that I thought this episode was hilarious?! Ownya was so funny. When Owen was training Anya I literally couldn’t stop laughing. When she said she wasn’t a quitter and he said good, as well as when he told her to man push-ups. I really enjoyed this episode aside from Anya deciding to ditch Riley…and Marisol.
Fiona and Eli at his locker was PRICELESS! They make the perfect match for a friendship. I am glad that Fiona won’t be graduating this year. I want to see hers and Eli’s friendship take off even more! They keep each other grounded. :)
Krew I actually like as a couple…though I really liked Drew and Alli. It bugged me though that Drew assumed because Katie was asking about STI’s that she wanted to have sex, right now. She did say eventually dude! Horndog…:p

I thought this episode would be boring as shit, but then Mr. Tuxedo Pants came back and they reintroduced Fiona to alcohol and had her say a universally relatable line : I need to learn to be alone. She completely fucking broke my heart.
I LOVE Anya and Owen, probably because I’m not supposed to. I’ll never stop rooting for the bad boy/good girl combo on Degrassi. Plus I can relate to Anya’s struggles so much… just having no clue what to do with your life and making stupid choices even though you have no reason to.
Katie is AMAZING… when she’s being a bitch. I still like her, and I always will… but it’s not as exciting (for me) yet as Anya and Owen or other couples on the show.

I didn’t really like the Fiona and Eli relationship until last weeks episode and todays. Now I love them as friends! I also never, and I mean NEVER liked Fiona… until today. When she took those bottles at Charlie’s I started freaking out. And then her last scene… letting Mr. Tuxedo pants go… broke my heart. I like her more with out Holly J… so I think I’m going to like her a lot in the next half of season 11.
I really like Katie, since her first episode, but her and Drew? I think Katie should be a character without a bf. She could pull it off.
Anya…. I used to love her.. but she has been driving me nuts! I had always wished she and Sav would get back together at the very end… but nope.

Are we sure that Fiona isn’t leaving the show? I know the character isn’t graduating, but this episode makes me worry that they might write her off by sending her to a “special school” to deal with her alcoholism.
Also, once Riley’s gone, they’ll need another boy who likes boys, so I nominate Liam to be bisexual.

I’m just not interested in the Katie-Drew relationship, and more screen time isn’t going to change that, unfortunately. I agree with all of the comments about Fiona and Eli; the chemistry between the actors translates well to their performances consistently. It has nothing to do with this episode, but I’d like to see more character development for Imogen. Most of the season she was only seen through the lens of her and Eli, then briefly as a confidant for Bianca. I hope they are moving towards showing her in greater depth in the second half. The writers seemed to be making her more normal in recent appearances, so I hope that her eccentricity won’t just disappear completely.

I really loved this episose so much! There was nothing really there for Krew but their sex talk was funny. I love love love Owanya and I don’t know why but I thought it was so funny when he was training her. Fiona’s plot was SO amazing. For most characters they just make up new problems for them every A plot they have but I love how they connect every episode she has with a realistic plot for her. It was so heartbreaking and amazing especially the last scene!

I know I’m probably one of the only ones who thinks this, but I absolutely LOVE Anya’s storyline this season. I think it’s something so many people can relate to: People having expectations of you that you can’t or don’t want to live up to. That situation can definitely lead to some destructive behaviors (drugs for example). I am glad that she found her calling in the end. The armed forces seems like a great place for her, and I am so glad that Owen helped her out. They had such amazing chemistry in this episode; I wish we were going to see more of them next season :(
