- What made you want to get into acting?
I watched a lot of movies as a kid. There has always been a sense of “awe” when watching actors on screen, and from then on I decided I wanted to do what they were doing.
- What would you be doing right now if you were not acting?
To be honest, I don’t think that there is any position out there for me. I’m actually afraid to think of what I’d be doing if I wasn’t in this business.
- Who are some of your favorite artists you are listening to right now?
I’m listening to a lot of different things right now, everything from Pink Floyd to T-Pain, but my all time favourite band is Dave Matthews Band.
- What are some of your favorite TV shows?
Modern Family, The Office, Friends, The Big Bang Theory Mad Men, Lost… and the list goes on. Oh and Degrassi of course!
- Who is your favorite Degrassi character of all-time and why?
My favourite Degrassi character would have to be J.T. He’s always just been that guy that everyone at school loves, which made it all the more heart-breaking when he died.
- What is your favorite thing to do when you are not on the set?
I love to play guitar, draw, write, golf, and lounge around watching movies.
- Even though you have not filmed many episodes yet, what episode so far has been the most meaningful to you and why?
It’s hard to say, each episode has been special in its own way. But I just read the script for a new one that we haven’t shot yet, and I love it. I think everyone will too!
- Being an actor has many positives and negatives. What are some of the positives and negatives for you?
If I had to choose one negative, and it’s a big one, is the waiting period when I’m not working. Hobbies are important. It’s difficult to stay sane when I’m wondering when my next job will be, or even if!
- Did you audition for any other characters on Degrassi before you got the role of Jake?
I read for two other characters, Declan and Drew.
- How has Degrassi changed your life so far? How was it joining a show with such history?
It’s still hard to believe that I have the opportunity to be a part of something so iconic. I can just say that I’m lucky to be doing what I love while taking part in one of the greatest teen dramas out there. - What are five things you cannot live without?
Computer, Guitar, Food, Water, and Sleep!
- I’ve interviewed a lot of the cast, and they all gave me some exclusive information on the upcoming Degrassi season. We currently know that your character is “straight forward” and “a heartthrob.” What more can you tell us?
Well first off I’m very flattered to hear that he’s a heart-throb! I can’t say much, but I do think that the fans will grow to love him! He’s a joy to play.

boring interview. only good question was the one he answered involving J.T..Everything else we all already new…WE KNOW HE’S FRIENDS WITH MUNRO, WE KNOW HE AUDITIONED FOR DREW & DECLAN, WE KNOW HE IS IN A WEIRD LOVE TRIANGLE WITH CLARE & ELI. WE KNOW, THINGS ARE GOING TO GET “EDGY”. these interviews with some of the cast are really getting so repetitive…UGH! -_-

His favorite Degrassi character’s JT? I like him already. And I can’t believe Justin Kelly, Munro Chambers, AND Daniel Kelly all auditioned for Drew… I honestly think that Drew’s gotta be one of the least likable and least interesting newer character, haha.

I love that he is so serious about acting, & how excited he is to be on Degrassi!
& When he said JT was his favorite character , I was like “Mann, I love this kid even more!”
I honestly can’t see him as Declan or Drew, I think it’s good that they saved him to be Jake . Because Landon just had that bravado about him that made him good for Declan, and same with Luke.
& Justin has that look that he could be an ‘outdoorsy’ kid and just fits his character. (So far from what I could tell anyhow)
Haha , Justin’s really cute & I can’t wait to see his character develop – and I think that him and Clare are really cute too.(;
