Tis’ your last chance to say what you have to say before Season 11 is officially here.
This first week I’ll be churning out (shortened) reviews of all the episodes since Monday’s a one-hour episode, and the other three are solo episodes. And when I say shortened reviews I mean I’m not going to spend as much time recapping what happened in the episodes (that’s what Degrassi Extra will be for).
I will be nonexistent in the Degrassi universe on Thursday night. Prior engagements will keep me from watching Idioteque that night, so all coverage will have to wait until Friday.

*My major concern with Season 11 is the flow of the episodes that will come after Now or Never. Maybe if they’d aired in a block like the The Boiling Point, the final half of Season 10 would’ve felt like it was better. Hopefully the writers have realized that you’ve gotta write the episodes differently when you know there’s a week between episodes as opposed to only 24 hours. The Part 1 episodes need to have stronger endings…I’m not saying something crazy has to happen with “To Be Continued” flashing at the end, but an episode can’t just abruptly end on a flat note (ex: The Way We Get By Pt 1, Hide and Seek Pt 1). It’s gotta build anticipation for next week’s episode.
*Spring Fever is going to be an unintentional mindfuck for me. I wish they hadn’t told us that they took what was going to be the finale of Season 10 and made it the premiere of this season. Now I’m going to sit here and analyze whether or not it would be better as a premiere or a finale.
*Love or hate him, Eli has the most potential in Season 11. They’ve deemed him the “Craig Manning” of this generation, aka he’s the star of this ship. They just scratched the surface of him in Season 10, and I hope they dig deeper into his character this year instead of just feeding into the superficial desires of fans wanting to see him and Clare together. It is vital that they deal with his mental stability with more than just him freaking oooot on someone. There has to be an attempt for him to receive help.
*Though I’m glad Anya didn’t fall for Owen immediately in Chasing Pavements, I’m not opposed to a relationship between them if there’s an effort put into developing it.
*BOLD PREDICTION: Spring Fever will probably be make or break in my eyes in regards to Drianca. If they can’t convince me to like them in that episode, I will probably never care about them as a couple.
*Despite the hype, there has NEVER been any indication that Eli and Imogen become a couple…therefore I assume they won’t become one.
*I hope that Marisol is more than just the girl that KC cheats with.
*Though I absolutely adore Fiona and want her to be happy, I don’t like the idea of her dating people who aren’t main characters on the show (the same believe applies to Anya/Dr. Chris and Sav/Keke Palmer’s character). Not all of them end up becoming “main” characters like Zane.
*I’m convinced they want us to hate Dave. His likability has fallen so far since Season 9 it’s ridiculous. I’m not sure the romantic ventures he’ll have later in the season will be enough to repair his reputation after his attack on Adam.
*I hope there are a few more characters like Adam this season….characters that are BALANCED. Some characters completely disappear when the plot isn’t about them (*cough* RILEY AND ZANE *cough*). Adam only had a couple of storylines, but he appeared a lot in Season 10. Since he was part of EClare’s group he was there, but he wasn’t in our face like EClare was when they were on screen. Making characters transition between being a major player and a support character is SEVERELY UNDERRATED. Remember when Clare appeared in a scene in “Hide and Seek” with Eli nowhere to be found? How beautiful was that? They mastered the technique of characters working background in Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High; it’s something they need to bring back.
*I’ve given up on Riley and Zane. I don’t care what happens to them anymore. Such a waste of a potentially good character, and by default it drags down Zane as well. Maybe one day Degrassi will have a major male gay character whose every ounce of his existence isn’t dedicated to dealing with and analyzing his sexuality.

I hope people don’t judge this just because it’s the new kids. I honestly think this could be one of Degrassi’s best season premieres.

IDK how I feel about them adding all of these Grade 11 students in season 11. I mean, we will get attatched to them and then next year they’ll graduate.
I think Marisol coming between KC and Jenna is bigger than anything Chantay and Hazel ever did. Other than being a black girl on the Powersqaud I see no similarities. I think she may be Degrassi’s next Queen Bee.
I really hope HJ’s illness isn’t going to kill her :(
I thought Riley coming out meant we could see him in other storylines not about his sexuality. But I guess not.
I really hope this season is as good as it seems :) But I wont get OVER excited again.

Just thought of something.
Jenna just had a baby, which could lead to depression, loneliness, etc. Especially because KC will be cheating on her.
Jenna’s a strong character, and I hope they keep her that way. I hope to see more of her, and different plotlines, concerning the problems of having the baby at 16 and such.
I also ant to see how Sav, Anya, and Holly J will end the year. Right now, it doesn’t seem too good for Anya (With her coke addiction) or Holly J (She’s sick, and she’s “running out of time” meanwhile she already got into Yale), so I REALLY want to see them end.
And the Sav and Ms. Oh plotline….the last time they had something like it was when Darcy got Mr. Simpson in trouble. So, that also seems interesting. I want to see that.
This season will be THE most important to many, as many loved characters will be leaving. We’ll miss you guys, and give us some strong leavings!! :)

I agree with the Riley/Zane thing. They used to be interesting… but then in season ten, all of Riley’s storylines are still revolving around him being gay, and all of Zane’s storylines revolve around Riley. You’d think after three seasons of Riley on the show, and another on the way, they’d give him some storylines NOT revolving about being gay.

Because the season 10 premiere was amazing I think a lot of people are expecting something GREAT for season 11. I also heard this rumor on tumblr.. and it’s mostly just a tumblr rumor bbuuut i have to mention it…Eli + Anya… I know it’s really weird but think about it… I would ship them.. but that’s just me. ^.^ looking forward to season11 :D

Yeah people have been editing pictures of Anya and Eli together and videos too. But unless at the last minute they want to drop Anya and Eli’s stories to give them a short romance before Anya graduates at the end of Now or Never, I don’t think that will happen. I doubt they’ll even share a scene together unless it’s with Fiona who is probably going to be their mutual friend.

Season 11
I’m looking forward to Fiona, Adam and Eli story lines as far as “veteran” characters go. As for the new characters, I’m interested in seeing Katie since the beach promo shows her interacting with Adam.
My hopes and expectations for season 11 aren’t as high or as anticipated as the boiling point summer block.

Everything you said I agree with minus Drianca since I sorta loved them from the beginning lol
However I feel Imogen and Eli will get together in some way but like maybe a Ellie and Sean type of way (at the time they needed each other for support).
With that being said, I’m not too sure I’m going to like this season because they ( the writers) seriously screwed over Ziley’s potential as u mentioned, all the Seniors are leaving, they ruined good characters like Alli, KC, and Dave, they got rid of Fitz (he was basically just a plot device to them),If Eli is the focus of this season it just shows they want to milk the Munro Fanbase, they won’t even give Clare and some other characters better plots than just stupid romance, and just a whole bunch of other bad decisions. Also I’m absolutely terrified of seeing what they do for the Fall season because I know it’s going to suck just like last time. In my opinion for the Fall Season they should go back to the old way of doing Degrassi episodes so it’s made to be done in a week and extend to 2 parters when necessary.

Im interested in seeing Eli and Imogen’s interaction also Katie and Adam. Im not a big fan of Drianca,but maybe Spring Fever will change that . The Sav/Mo/Ms.Oh interaction seems very interesting and im glad that Holly J’s illness is continuing this season and its not a one and done storyline,but i hope she gets better . Never expected Anya to do coke or cocaine ,whichever one it is. and also kary , teennick uploaded more spring fever pictures.

I believe that Eli is going to try to get the help he needs, but Imogen is going to latch on to him because he’s “alternative”. He might actually become invested in their friendship and then realize that she only wants to hang out with him because he seems cool and different. I don’t think she’s going to be good for him. She might even hinder his recovery.

In Now Or Never, I hope they use character balance lile they did in The Boiling Point. I’d much rather them do that than give ELI all the screentime.
I think that’s another reason why Season 10.5 was kinda bad is because they didn’t use balance.
Btw, I really really hope they give Zane & Chantay their own plots!
Oh and what if they put Cake on the top of the NON dvd like they did with Eclare on TBP dvd? I would be so pissed off.

Okay, i’m sick of Eli already. He’s over hyped…
I’m mostly excited for Anya’s storyline, she always has so much to offer. She was always in the background in every episodes besides Ladies Night and Why Can’t This Be Love? So i’m excited for this. Also I think she will be the first person to actually overdose on a drug and die.
Then I’m excited for the drew and Bianca storyline because it’s new and a fresh storyline.
The Adam storylines are getting old…he can be so much more than a transgender character.
Also I don’t really care about the Fiona ones either…

I pretty much agree with almost everything except Ziley. Although I rreeeaalllyy wish Zane would step out of Riley’s shadow, I actually want to see what happens to them, but idk, maybe I’m just biased because I like tingly feeling I get in my stomach whenever I watch two guys kiss (dont judge me… T_T).
On completely random notes, I think it would be interesting if Imogen was Wiccan. Also we FINALLY saw Mo in Sav’s promo. The sad part is he’s done more than Katie has in the promos, and he’s only a recurring character. She hasn’t said a word yet… we haven’t even seen her move (except the opening sequence) and it already seems like she fell into the Degrassi Bermuda Triangle. Speaking of, I’m surprised they didn’t make a character promo for Adam…

i think that the perfect storyline for Ziley would be that Riley is beginning to have…urges (boner from “Beat It” anyone?) and is afraid to tell Zane about it, whilst Zane is feeling the heat too, and they realize how much they want each other and have sex.
…you know, just in case they want get out of the “Riley’s gay crisis”
if not, remember how marco’s friend (season 5) was kicked out of his home for coming out? they never completely made great detail of that happening, so they make take that road, and either go into his father’s shock at coming out where threats could be taken out (if he does come out despite his mom’s protests).
don’t worry, i’m not disagreeing with Kary, but as my favorite couple, i can’t give up hope yet.

I’m gay myself and Riley and Zane are my favorites on Degrassi ever since Ellie left and even though I love a lot of the characters I connected with Riley and Zane a lot more than the rest. You’re bitching about Riley and Zane not having any story-lines aside from being gay, but wasn’t Riley addicted to steroids? The fact that most of their story-lines are about being gay isn’t surprising because wasn’t Marco the same way?
Riley and Zane are great characters and aren’t a waste. And complaining about Zane just being Riley’s boyfriend, really? He never did anything before getting with Zane. That’s like complaining about Dylan not doing anything! Whatever.

Wow, one whole episode dedicated to something else…but not really because the entire reason Riley was taking the steroids is because he thought they would help make him straight. And you made my point by bringing up Marco…a character who became complete crap because he was hung up on a guy. Riley is becoming THAT GUY. Congratulations, you connect with Riley and Zane…doesn’t make my points about them any less vaild because I’m some straight dude who doesn’t know what it’s like to be gay. And I’m completely justified in saying Zane’s a waste, and I actually like his character. Obviously he never did anything before getting with Riley, the whole point of his existence is to be Riley’s love interest, and to me that’s a severe waste. He’s a character that many people like, and many people prefer him over Riley. No one gave a damn about Dylan after he started acting like a prick in Season 4. Zane shows hints of being a character that be developed beyond who he chooses to date. He’s even in the opening credits, yet we still know nothing about this kid except he’s comfortable with who he is and he spends most of his screentime playing sidekick to Riley and his issues.

aren’t they taking a different direction with Riley this time? Riley’s episode grades on Degrassiblog so far involving his sexuality have been A, A+, A-, B, A- B-. The ones that did not involve it were given a C + (Anya/Riley, Riley/Steroids). In the Way We Get By, they did take a step in the right direction with Zane’s Ex, only to turn into a different perception of his sexuality, which in fact, revolved more around his mother’s denial.
I guess they’re afraid they’re afraid they will run down Riley if they take him out of the plotline known best and put him in the Marco situation.

I think the reason a lot of people don’t like that all of Riley’s storylines revolve around his sexuality, is because there is more to people than their sexuality.
They are doing a much better job telling Adam’s story. He’s a kid who happens to be transgendered.
And I think people would like to see Zane outside of a story with Riley. At this point he will only be remembered as Riley’s boyfriend. Just like Blue is remembred as Holly J’s boyfriend, he never really had a story outside of her.

It makes Riley seem one dimensional. And it’s been basically the same song and dance with him for three seasons. There’s more to him as a person than that. They’ve also done a fantastic job with Fiona. Words can’t describe how much I adore her, but if her character spends the next two seasons going down the “Marco path,” I will become annoyed with her too.

Ok, this is my take on Degrassi Season 11:
I hate how people are comparing Marisol to Chantay and Hazel.Just becuase all 3 of these girls are black doesnt mean that each of them are alike becuase all 3 girls are seriously different.I like Marisol and I hope that people wont see her ass this slutty skank becuase when Manny pursued guys that were in relationships nobody was complaining and now that Marisol is doing it,it is instantly and automatically bad?That makes no sense to me.
The whole love thingy going on between Eli/Clare/Imogen/Jake is sickening I really dont care for them. I love Eli but this whole situation seems more like Eli and Clare are trying to get revenge on one another by pursuing Jake/Imogen.Jake isnt cute to me at all,and I dont care for Imogen she is a poser and a fake.
Drew and Bianca are my fav couple.I cant wait to see where these 2 will go,but I still have a feeling that the writers are playing with us,meaning that they are making out there whole situation to be more than it really is,either way I am still kinda excited to see where things will go.I hope that Drew wont get himself killed or seriously injured to prove himself worthy to Bianca.
Anya’s situation seems like it will be really crazy to watch,but I dont really care for Anya like that.

What I’m guessing about eli/imogen is that she’s just going to remind him of Julia and he’s gonna use her in some sort of way. In the beach promo he sees the back of her and comes up to her looking happy but when she turns around she looks happy and his smile fades away. I bet she’s just going to be some sort of thing he’s usig to make Claire jealous. I think it’s gonna be interesting. Imogen might be one of my favorite new characters of this season.

The way the I see Imogen in the promos. She seems to me not to be real. That would be EPIC if they did that story line about Eli having delusions. But I don’t think they will ever go there. I don’t want Eli and Clare back together. The obsessed Eclare fans ruined it for me and the hype from other sourses I will not mentiion.
Anya, maybe just going through a downward spiral and meets the wrong girls to hang with.
Adam~~ I hope They really did there homework about the complications of being a transgender. What I have been told its more emotional confusion. Its harder for people
to accept them then being a lesbian or gay. I have a feeling Adams story is going to be heartbreaking.
I honestly can not stand Bianca and Drew. So I will just leave at that.
I hope this season covers more about what is really going inside these teenagers
minds. I hope its not going to half ass. As In too Deep had really no closure.

I agree with all of Kary’s points, especially the Riley opinion. Honestly, they mine as well not even have a gay character. This is nothing against homosexuals but a knock on the writers, who botched one character from the first generation and are botching another.
I really cannot stand Eli. They are trying to make him the next Craig only he’s a lot worse than Craig. The only thing Eli has on him is not forming a crap band called Downtown Sasquatch.

One more follow-up thought that just kinda hit me is that in the promo KC and Marisol are wearing cowboy/girl outfits. I’d say that KC gets a job at Little Miss Steaks to help support the baby and Jenna, and that is when he starts having a connection with Marisol.

I think season 11 is going to be okay… I agree with Kary about Zane/Riley. They seem to be one dimensional characters. Anya’s storyline should be pretty good. I want to see more of Adam though, not only in transgendered storylines, but in others as well. I think Eli/Imogen is going to be annoying. I think it was said a few months back that Imogen is fake so she can get attention (which means she is probably using Eli). Clare needs to stay away from boys right now. Jake seems alright enough, but she’s too emotionally worn down. I think Eli and Clare both need to fade into the background and become supporting characters for a bit before having 6 million plotlines again.

As someone who has both had mental illness herself and dated others with mental illnesses, Degrassi really needs to do something with Eli.
I liked his character because I could sort of relate even though it was easier for me to relate to Craig since I have bipolar disorder.
Eli needs therapy, not a new girl in his life.
When I saw the beach promo, I noticed Clare had on a denim jacket as did Imogen, so maybe Eli was going to talk to who he thought was Clare.
Speaking of Clare, she really needs to move on from Eli instead of jumping into a new relationship.
As far as Anya, I hope Degrassi handles the drug thing in a new way. They did coke with Craig and briefly Manny, so it’ll be interesting to see how that goes.
I really hope they save Riley and Zane from boring destruction, but I doubt it.
I hate Drew and Bianca as well as Jenna and KC and Dave just bores me. Enough said.

I agree with you about Fiona. She seems still confused. They had her date 1 nice guy (Adam). I think she needs to at least date another nice guy to see if she really is a lesbian. Even her interview with on of the top lesbian online magazine. many of the lesbians said that they don’t think Fiona is a lesbian she has trust issues with men.
Maybe Eli can help her with that in a non sexual way.

Well now we know Imogen is a real girl who seems pretty creepy. But I think in Eli eyes he actually may like the girl. OK lots of people like to do there homework about a person they may like. Asking friends is the usual thing people would do. I think Imogen might go a wee bit overboard on finding things about Eli and Clare to keep them apart. But I don’t think she wants to hurt anybody. All you Eclare obssesed fans need to open your eyes. Eli and Clare may love each other but in reality they are TNT.
I think Clare and Jake are going to do something simular to what Sav and HollyJ did. Just date without getting serious. But the person who seems to probably get seriously burned in this love square is going to be Clare

I think that Imogen is going to get Eli into trouble, she seems a bit too mysterious, and Clare will see this and try to tell Eli and Eli will deny it until it Imogen does something dramatic. *Then Clare can say, “I told you so.” * :)
