Last night were the 2010 Degrassi Nation Awards, aka the most predictable awards show ever.  It was interesting and fun to watch (loved the clips, the fan videos, Emily’s performance and participation from Stephen, Stefan, Ray and many other Degrassi staff)…however by the end it got to the point where it was repetitive (or Munrotitive, or something like that).  Munro and Aislinn dominated, taking Best Actor and Actress, while Munro also picked up Rookie of the Year.  I personally thought these were good choices, as well as were  most of the award winners.

The only two winners that made me say “uhh WTF?” were Storyline of the Year (Eli is a hoarder), and Best Episode (Umbrella).  These two feel like obscure choices that were chosen simply because Eli was involved…in the Storyline category I’m not even sure why three of the top four nominees were Eli-centric.

I’m looking forward to the 2011 DN Awards, since there’s no telling what in the heck will happen in the Degrassi universe between now and then.  I predict if someone dies they will either receive an award, or DN will have an “In Memoriam” section to next year’s program.

Earlier this week Degrassi-Fans.com launched the first episode of their new podcast show called Degrassi Talks.  D-fans owner Erin, Bianca from Degrassi Dish, and Ashley from Whatever It Takes are the hosts, and will be talking about anything and everything Degrassi.

In their first episode they talk about Degrass in India, Fitz’s role on the show and the latest Degrassi promos. CLICK HERE to listen to and download the episode!

Production is officially under way for the Degrassi Mini Marathon, which will run right here on DegrassiBlog!  Yes I’m talking about the actual Degrassi Mini Webisodes.  Kinda like how TeenNick is doing their Episode Marathon over the course of several weekends, I’ll be doing the same with the Mini Marathon (maaaan you don’t realize how many minis there are until you stare at the complete list of them).  If all goes according to plan, the first mini marathon will be this Friday, 12/31.

I was actually gonna post the full list of Degrassi minis, but since the site I get them from is now defunct, I can’t exactly do that.

I love Eli don’t get me wrong…but other actor/actresses did good as well. I think Annie was terrific and Adams storyline was definatly awesome! The difference between me and fangirls is I like him for reasons other than his looks. Plus Jordan did so well considering she is a straight girl. She plays Adam soooo well.

Who I think should’ve received an award, well of course Melinda Shankar.

I love her, and I still love her character even though she’s change a bit, but Melinda pulls her character off excellent, and I love “Don’t Let Me Get Me!” Melinda does her acting so great. I actually believed everything she does or say. Melinda is a true and loving actress, I hope she get an award next time!

Ok I love Eclare and all and I love Munro and Aislinn but I don’t think they deserved basically every award. Like I really think Charlotte Annie or Jordan should have won best actress.

This eli fangirl love is getting out of control seriously nothing against him but I highly doubt they love for his acting. Not that he doesn’t act well but Annie and Jordan had way better episodes and storylines. MBIAC and WAGW puts the Eli episodes to shame imho. I’m not hating on Munro at all but I’m sick and tired of people getting awards and being over rated based on their looks wheather it be a hot guy or girl. Twilight and Justin Beiber are perfect examples I can’t think of women who get over rated due to their looks right now so that’s why I didn’t list any. Talent is what should have you win awards and have a fan base not just because he is so cute or dude she’s so hot. Again not hating on Beiber, Twilight, or Munro just frustrated.

Rookie of the Year should’ve went to Annie or Jordan in my opinion, they had the best storylines thus far in the rookie boat.

Annie isn’t really a rookie though since she was in S9.

Good to know that I wasn’t the only person depressed by The Eli Nation Awards. Degrassi seems too smart a show for 60% of its fan base to be that hung up on Munro Chambers… -.- Sigh. I’ve never been ashamed to be a Degrassi fan, but now that I know that it puts me in the same boat as those 60&, it’s a little sad.

I agree I think aisilin was good but Jordab was just so terrific because it’s a huge deal to be a straight girl playing a transgender and she did SO good with it. Charlotte and Annie were both great too. Munro is a great actor and plays Eli so well but I just think it wasn’t based on those skills that he won. Fangirls are getting so old so quickly…

Being an actor means you can take on any role and play it well, whether you’re gay or straight it shouldn’t matter. Shannon Kook-Chun plays Zane very well and is straight. Being sincere and convincing is what it’s about :).

((This part is not to you though))
But I feel like Jordan should’ve received one of those awards and so do Annie Clark, because those two are TRUE Actresses. And Now that I think about it. THEY ARE LIKE THE BEST ACTRESSES ON THE SHOW! I still love Melinda Shankar, but Annie is wonderful; Jordan is a strong actress. That’s how you should judge who should get an award!

I agree Fiona was about as useful in S9 as Leia was. I didn’t even know Jordan could act very well due to only seeing her LWD work. All of Jordan’s plots feel so fresh and honestly i’d take ellie over eli any day no offense lol. Off topic but is anybody else hoping Alli gets a relaxed seson for season 11? Anyway degrassi marthon starts this weekend, season 1 and 2.

This is really sad, but I’d sort of like for Eli to be killed off. It’s a character that I have trouble enjoying now just because of fangirls… it would certainly have an impact.

    Also, YES, Ellie > 100xEli.

And I would love for Alli to have a chill season.

I completely agree! I love Munro as much as the next girl but I also have complete and total respect for all the other acting. I thought that Munro did a really fantastic job in Umbrella part 2 with the being so vulnerable with Clare but the likes of like Landon and things like that who constantly gave us really good acting in every episode! I still dont know how Aislinn won over Jordan or Annie I LOOOOVE Clare but I for sure don’t think she is the most talented actress on the show. I thing they were correct in naming Eli the best rookie but not best actor and Aislinn for sure was not best actress…Im disappointed that the show has come down to who is the hottest couple/character there is so much more to the show!

My list who should have received best Actress.

-Annie Clark: She has really showed us all that her acting skills are real! She makes us believe that Fiona is some one true this season; that she can carry her own with out her brother Declan. ((And Yes! I felt as if her character was irrelevant Season 9. The promos acted like she was going to make an impact, but she didn’t.)) Annie Clark has been successful in every plot she’s been given, and there are more to come. I can’t wait to see her and Jordan acting with the “Awkward” Love! ((Not really Awkward, but Adam’s not really a boy. So, I’m wondering how Fiona will feel when she finds out the truth.))

-Jordan Todosey: Wow! Wow! And Oh my Gosh, Wow! She is most definitely a strong actress. Jordan is capable of playing like a male, Well Transgender. I give her a thumbs up. I believe she should’ve won an award, but I don’t think that Jordan isn’t that good compared to Annie. I know that Jordan will improve because she already knows how to use her emotions well. At first I didn’t enjoy “MY BODY IS A CAGE.” The reason for that is, I felt the plot was too fast, I wanted that storyline to be more in-depth. I really wanted to see more of Adam as a girl and how he could deal with it. Other than that, the episode was and Okay plot to me. Jordan still pulled it off!

-Samantha Munro!: What and actress. I want to see more of this character so bad! I hope she is one of the characters on the spin-off show of Degrassi; Samantha is great with every plot she is given. It was kind of hard to see what she can really do, considering she was revolving around Sav. I am super excited that she’s not letting Sav control her anymore! Now that she is alone she didn’t get any plots, but when she did get one. She is just so great with it. I believe Samantha can do so a lot for this show; and I also believe the only reason she haven’t been recognized is because she not getting strong storylines, and SAV in season 8-9. But this season Samantha Munro is showing us more to her character and more that she can do! I love her for that. I really hope for her to receive an award!

-Charlotte Arnold: Holly J. is no longer a favorite character of mine any more. The reason for that is because she’s not the same, yet her acting is awesome. I love how Charlotte take whatever situation her character is in and make it seem so real! Lately I haven’t like any plot she had, ((Other than the Sav and her getting together.)) But she is still kept my attention with her acting. I don’t believe she should get best actress, but she had better acting the Aislinn.

-Melinda Shankar: I love this actress so much! I love her, I love her! I so freaking love her! Okay now to get serious! Melinda is a perfect dominate actress; I can’t believe that everyone is disliking Alli because how she is changing. Well, listen to this. Melinda’s character Alli, is like Manny, but she’s not that bad like her. Alli is going through a developing stage, since she wants to be popular and she always wanted that; it was just Johnny who was had her to forget about that. Now she wants it again since her and Johnny are done! Alli wants that perfect teenage life, which doesn’t exist, but she’s not a slut. The only boy that she was interested in was Drew and that was because he was popular. I think Alli’s character is a tough character to play. Melinda is capable to play her well. Alli changed twice with in the whole show; Melinda switched up her game as her character shifted. Melinda works this character to a powerful and dedicated girl. No one would be able to do Alli like Melinda Shankar. Alli’s portrayed like a SLUT, but then again she’s not! She didn’t hook-up with Owen in the boiler room because Alli do have a heart and she cared about Drew.

I am not Downing Aislinn Paul, because Aislinn is remarkable actress herself. I love that emotional scene with Clare and Alli in “DON’T LET ME GET ME!” Aislinn haven’t had any great plots but she is a great actress and I believe she could be much better once she get her own plot with out Eli to help her out, Just like Shenae Grimes in “Standing in The Dark.” Shenae was excellent, and I believe that once Aislinn get her own plot everyone will see what she can really do!

I love Degrassi I am happy for the awards! I was hoping on doing the guys, and who I feel should get an award, but seeming that everytime I post something. someone wants to leave me a rude comment. I’m okay if you disagree but don’t give me anything rude. I love to debate, I hate to argue! On the computer? Yes, it is so immature! So please if you have any comments please do so, POLITELY.

I disagree, I believe Samantha Munro, known on the show as Anya MacPherson. She has pulled off a lot of great solid acting over this season and the times we saw her. Every storyline she is given, she’s capable of getting the job done! I love Samantha a lot, I feel she is even better than Charlotte. She is a wonderful and loving actress and I can’t wait for her storyline coming up!

I agree with you 100% Kary. Like when it came to the best storyline, Eli’s hoarding really? I think the thing I hate the most(not only because it won because every fan on earth loves Eli) but because it wasnt a strong storyline. It seemed more like an introduction to the actual Real storyline. Like I’m assuming we will see more on Eli’s hoarding. I think Adam’s storyline should of won.

Then Umbrella??? Really? I won’t lie, I loved the episode, it was really good! But there were plenty of better episodes too. All Falls Down, I liked What A Girl Wants, even Don’t let me get me had solid storylines too. But I guess fans want Eclare, they will get Eclare

I know everyone LOVES Anie Clark, and although she has improved alot from last season, her acting still seems sheltered. I love Aislin but I think it’s the 3 family channel kids, Jordan, Munro and Charlotte who are the best actors and rightfully so. Although they were on comedy shows, they were all on shows for about 2 years before they came to degrassi which lets them master their craft and gives them a better opportunity than the other actors to feel comfortable in front of the camera. I’m excited for part 2 of season 10 because I feel like we are now at the point where the characters are going to have emotional breakdowns.
