It’s good to know all of the new changes on Degrassi are having an instant impact…Monday was a HUGE day:
On MuchMusic, the Season premiere of Degrassi Season 10 won it’s timeslot in Canada and was the #1 show on the network for the day with 218,000 viewers. Click here for the full press release.
On TeenNick, Degrassi “The Heat Is On” set the record as the most watched telecast in the network’s history with 1.2 MILLION total viewers (the previous record holder was Degrassi Goes Hollywood). It was also the #1 telecast on ALL tv networks with it’s target demo, teens 12-17. Click here for the full press release.
It’s going to be interesting to see what this telenovela format does ratings wise over the next few weeks…especially TeenNick’s ratings, since it was their idea to begin with. It’s no secret that Degrassi is the only reason TeenNick is able to compete with its rival networks ABC Family, Cartoon Network and Disney Channel…but if The Boiling Point is a success, maybe TeenNick won’t need to give Degrassi help after all.

I knew it was gonna be the top. For a lot of people, like me, Degrassi is really the one reason we watch Teennick. I mean… if theres nothing else on, I’ll watch something else but Degrassi is definitely why I tune it every week(now everyday).
It was obvious there would be a lot of viewers. Degrassi Takes Manhattan/The Boiling Point has been the talk of blogs, Yahoo Answers, even Google. Good job, Degrassi!:)

I agree that a lot of people just tune into Teennick for Degrassi. I mean, they can only show re runs of iCarly and Drake and Josh so many times..

Not gonna lie, I’m laughing at all those people who’ve been complaining nonstop about the recent seasons/new characters, backing up their dislike with “proof” of lower ratings. Guess not.
