[WARNING: THIS EPISODE REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS]
I’m just gonna throw it out there: Degrassi Takes Manhattan is not as good as Degrassi Goes Hollywood. There’s several weak points in the story that bug me, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad movie. As a matter of fact, DTM manages to hold its own quite well.
It’s the end of the school year and several of the older kids are graduating (Jane, Danny, Johnny are a few). It’s also time for Declan, Holly J and Fiona to travel to NYC for the summer, but before doing so they have a party at the Coyne’s mansion in Toronto.
Yeah....Spinner is PISSED.
The drama finally begins when Spinner overhears Holly J and Jane talking about her brief affair with Declan. Pile that on with the fact the Emma returns home from her bike tour, promptly takes a job at The Dot and burns it down within hours, it’s almost impossible not to feel Spinner’s pain as his world (the one that is stable and never changes, and he likes it that way) comes crashing down. Heartbroken over hurting Spinner, Jane packs up and heads to NYC with Holly J and company.
I thought that the gang being in New York with all of the bright lights and celebrites would overshadow the characters, but that’s not the case. The cameos (as tweeted by said celebs the week before the DTM premiere) play an even smaller role than you’d expect, except for Kristen, the star of Gossip Minute and the woman Holly J interns for.
Holly J locks Fiona in a storage closet. "This is New-York Holly J, bitch."
Instead the story focuses strictly on the ever increasing tension between Fiona and Holly J. To me, this plot is the best part of Degrassi Takes Manhattan, as it partially brings out a (more tolerable) version of the bitchy Season 7/8 Holly J, and an extremely emotional Fiona. I’ve gotta say it’s about time Annie Clark has gotten to show some sort of emotion on screen. Fiona’s character has been tranquil since the day we first met her…she did a great job of breaking down several times during the movie.

Now as far as the incest part it’s unclear as to whether or not Declan and Fiona have ever been “together” in that way before. But DTM makes it clear that Fiona is extremely jealous of any other girl that has Declan’s attention. When Declan tells her that she needs to get her own life, her overly possessive nature reminded me of Marco after Dylan left (the second time around), and Marco behaved as if he simply couldn’t function without him. The difference between the two is that Fiona’s mentality seems much more unstable, brilliantly setting up the storyline for her in Season 10.
The weakest part of DTM is Jane joining a band called Flashin’ Midnight. This storyline feels pointless, leaving Jane as a forgettable character for an extended chunk of the movie. It’s only when she hears about Spinner and Emma’s wedding celebration that she becomes relevant again, racing back to T.O. with intentions of stopping it.

Yes, Spinner and Emma get married. I’m speechless. The setup is actually pretty good: Jay, Manny, Emma and Spinner go to Niagara Falls for a night of cheering Spinner up, aka drinking and gambling. Spinner and Emma wake up from their drunken stupor to realize they had gotten married at some point during the night. Now they decide to remain a couple which is fine by me…there have been way more random couples in Degrassi’s history. They even share a moment (my favorite part of the whole movie) where they talked about Emma’s science project and Spinner’s boner from WAYYYY back in Season 2 (Weird Science, one of my favorite episodes and their most notable interaction up until this point in the series).
However, the fact that they decide to REMAIN married (and suddenly start talking about how they love each other) is a level of randomness that I simply can’t wrap my head around. I guess the only option for the last two original characters of the show who are still around (and aren’t going anywhere) is to get married, eh?
Degrassi Takes Manhattan is a good ending to what has been a solid Season 9. The writing wasn’t as strong as I’d hoped, but they left the heavy lifting to the characters that are capable of doing so: Holly J, Declan and Jane….Spinner is always a pleasure to watch, and Miriam McDonald made Emma interesting, delivering her best performance in years. Oh, and it was great to see Liberty again. :-)
Now it’s time for a new year…a new look….and a new Degrassi. Get ready for Season 10!

Well, Degrassi seems to be introducing the characters slowly this season.. and each certain episode you ssee how they act. So since they have all this precious time.. they seem to be developing characters slowly this season (just judging the first 4 episodes)

AGREED! I can’t stand Degrassi Goes Hollywood. I liked this movie a lot more, but my main problem was the fact that after like, 2 days Spinner and Emma were soul mates and madly in love. Plus, I really think he should’ve ended up with Jane. It was just a really bad sub plot, and I think someone just wrote it in a haste when they realized they’re work was due in an hour.

My only point of contention was the fact that Jay had total confidence in Emma treating Spinner well. Didn’t he get a certain type of job from her in the Ravine?
Otherwise, I wasn’t disappointed. Spinner deserved a proper send off.

The strawberry scene was brilliant as was Holly J’s little revenge on Fiona by locking her in the copy room. I have to say, wonderful performance on Annie’s part.

Well, Liberty was somehow voted in as valedictorian, even though no one liked her, and she never did anything nice for anyone, so the decision process for valedictorian at Degrassi has always been a joke.

Liberty had the grades and scholastic ambition to back up her valedictorian status. Jane? Not so much. Not saying she didn’t care about school at all, but not to the point of becoming valedictorian.
Also, the reason Liberty was voted in was because her and Damian were tied for the spot, so a popular vote was the solution that was decided upon.

Degrassi Takes Manhattan is WAY WAY WAY better than Degrassi Goes Hollywood. I would give DTM an A+ and DGH only a B-. The only problem I had with the movie is that if Spinner was really in love with Jane, then it would have taken longer for him to get over her.

I think DGH and DTM are too different to compare. I like them for different reasons. I thought DGH was a great film that really sent most of the older characters off with a bang. DTM however was a film that mostly centered around wrapping everything from season 9 up while beautifully setting up S10. So I can’t choose.
I actually like Spinner and Emma as a couple, the both of them are at a tough time in their life and it’s more believable than some of the other stuff that goes down in the Degrassi universe, like Darcy going off to Kenya and never coming back, Derreck dropping off the face of the earth, Marco being bff with Holly J, Peter becoming a meth addict in a single episode ect. But them getting married was a little “out there”. However, I guess they needed to send the last of the older cast off somehow.
And I agree! The Jane story was so lame. I zoned out everytime they showed it. She didn’t becoming entertaining until the last 20 minutes when she rushed back to stop the wedding.

Emma and spinner? Random much? I kept thinking “oh, the movie still has a few minutes left, spinner and Jane can still make it!” but no. Im sorry, but i was in live with him and jane, so im pretty mad right now. But watever, declan and holly j are good. Haha I was in LOVE with the strawberry scene.

OMG the strawberry scene was absolutely hilarious! definitely one of the best scenes along with holly j locking fiona in the closet :) And I agree I loved jane and spinner and up until the very end I was still hoping they would get together! I just don’t like him with emma… but i also love declan and holly j so i’m glad they stayed together I thought the entire situation with fiona was genius and so well played!

I still am a little upset that we got no mention of Darcy. It would’ve been nice if she could show up at the Graduation, you know, just a tiny cameo or something. Irritates me that we’ll never get closure to her character.

I haven’t finished reading the review, but I agree with the very first line: it is not as good as DGH! I hated that Spinner and Emma randomly felt that they were in love with each other. It happened in like two seconds, after Spinner was just going on about how sucky his life is now that Jane broke his heart. About a day or two later, he’s suddenly moved on and is totally in love with Emma and knows he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. It was fine for Degrassi writers to want to sendoff the originals all together like that (leaving Jane out), & allowing for it to be the last originals in a happy, friendly foursome but i couldn’t buy into Emma/Spinner at all. I think I remember seeing a cute moment here or there, but I just wasn’t feeling it. Just my opinion! Thumbs ups and thumbs downs are encouraged lol! Now I have to finish reading this review I’ve been waiting for! =]

I can overlook a lot in the Degrassi-verse, but Spemma…I just can’t. Whoever gave that the thumbs up needs to be fired. A drunken hookup, sure. But to actually decide they were in love with each after speaking to each other maybe 3 times in the entire 10 seasons Degrassi: TNG has been on the air? It’s too much. And wow, not even a nod to Jimmy, aka Spinner’s BEST FRIEND? Obviously Aubrey Graham would not have been in the movie, but they could have at least had a congratulatory e-mail or call from Jimmy.
Sean needs to be written into an episode, STAT! No way can Spemma survive the monster that is Semma.

People think that he was Paige and Darcy’s lapdog, but of course, Emma’s horrible traits are ignored, since the writers have brainwashed people into thinking that she can do no wrong.

Oh! I would also like to throw in that I found it a bit random that Jay (of all people) was the minister haha, but I guess I can live with it cuz it was a tad bit funny and becuz, well .. its jay! =]
And now that I’ve read the review, which I enjoyed, I did love the part when they were talking about Emma’s science project from “Weird Science”, I guess it was one of the only real Emma/Spinner interactions that the writers could dig up lol.
I also loved Jane’s forearm to Manny’s face. I felt Manny freaked out for no reason, but I liked that even though her and Jane were friends, she was ready to stick up for Emma at the drop of a dime. Oh and I loved her “Let’s do this then (head nod)” haha. =]
Lastly, I loved how Snake got emotional when Emma asked him to walk her down the aisle. Okay, done rambling! :)

Anyone entirely surprised by the Spinner/Emma spare pairing failed to stay awake for Holiday Road. Granted I wrote that scene off as “Spinner is playing survivor Yoda” again. Since that was his role for S8 onward. But when the spoilers and rumors started to fly about the movie… I kinda figured the Spinner/Emma was happening.
The pair don’t have a lot of on-screen interaction, but character type wise both of them are pretty… comparable. This isn’t me green lighting the couple entirely, but it does explain some of the thoughts behind it.

Can’t everyone see what a perfect set-up this is? 12 years down the road, Emma and Spinner will be sending their child off to Degrassi Middle Community Center for the Learning Arts High in “Degrassi: Deep Space Nine!” I hope that Snake has become Toronto schools superintendent by then!
I’m not gonna lie, I CANNOT stop watching this show. No matter how many bit characters they bring in for a one-episode story-arc that has already been regurgitated half-a-dozen times, (pregnancy scare anyone?), I’ll be there. However, TNG really ended when Emma, Manny, Liberty, Tobes, Spinner, and Jimmy graduated. (Funny how the person who initially had the most anger from leaving the show moved on and became the most successful.)
We’re kind of in the middle of the “next” next generation. There have been so many characters that they’ve added in the last few seasons, I can’t keep up anymore. I am rooting for Holly J, tho. We’ve seen so many sides to her – mean, sweet, spiteful, empathetic. She always satisfies…like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get. Charlotte Arnold – you are Mmmmazing!!!

I think Fiona is gonna be my new favorite character. I love how much they are going to be ‘Going There’ with her. The whole ‘mentally unstable’ thing, and her kissing Declan, having an abusive boyfriend…I think her character will definitely have some very intense moments.

Also, and I know I haven’t seen the movie yet, but, how do Spinner and Emma find this sudden ‘love’, and how does Spinner and Emma get married, and STAY married? I mean, Spinner and Jane were together for, like ever, and yes, he did propose, but they never got married. Manny and Jay had been together for a long time, and they haven’t gotten married. Even Ellie and Craig had always had this connection, and finally in DGH get together, but they never got married. There are a few more that are like that too. So, again, how did Emma and Spinner all of a sudden find this great chemistry, and get married? Emma, even though they haven’t said anything about him, it’s more of an inference, was probably not over Sean. I’m just saying because every time he came back, she would fall apart and come back to him. And then Spinner had just gotten out of this long relationship with the girl he loved, and then the next day is back up on his feet, getting married? To me, it just doesn’t make sense, but whatever…

I definitely do not understand the Spinner/Emma wedding one bit. I also find it really hard to believe that Spinner would totally drop Jane completely after hearing about something she did months ago. (not exactly sure of the whole Degrassi time-frame, I don’t think anyone really gets it) I thought Spinner was more mature than that. I can’t really call him my favorite character now. Maybe they married him off to get rid of him, finally?
The best thing about the movie, as you said, Kary, was the rivalry between Fiona and Holly J. Fiona is going to be a trainwreck in season 10 which I’m excited for. We saw a glimpse of what an acting powerhouse Annie is so it’s going to be wonderful.

Honestly, the whole “rivalry” wasn’t even that interesting. IMO nothing intense between the two happen. It just makes me feel really bad that almost every male in Fiona;s life mistreat her. First riley, for obvious reasons, then her own brother chooses his gf and tries to make her see that she needs her own life. And now her new bf who will beat her. She may be rich and pretty but damn…its so sad.

I like the movie, its not as good as Hollywood and i think the title “The Rest Of My Life” would have been way better.
Although i really didn’t care about Jane’s Plot, it was good seeing Spinner and Emma coming together. The only thing i didn’t like was how spinner found out, i felt like that event happened to early in the movie. But it was pretty decent i guess. Gota love the Manny/Jane fight…they havent seem to put any other girl in a fight besides manny.

I saw the opening when I saw the 4 eps, but I didn’t notice it was KC with Bianca! I thought it was Fitz! I mean it seemed like they both will cause trouble since they were messing with Adam! And I understand why they just call it degrassi now. All of the “TNG” characters are officially gone.

DTM was good. I loved that they put spinner and emma together at least with some proof that it was there from earlier seasons. Also I think this movie was better the beginning set up the whole movie perfectly and I love how the movie rolls right into the First episode of season10. Season 10 feels like a whole new show with the new music, camera angles, and pacing. Its a little more soap opera-y because you gotta keep watching episodes to keep up with the storyline as it develops during the week.
LASTLY This season they are handling A LOT more stories at once so Kary I think your going to have like C-plots for all episodes lol. You are gunna have a lot of reviewing to keep up with.

I actually thought that DTM was BETTER than DGH. I hated how DGH had absolutely no setup and was basically an excuse to film in LA while ending Paige, Ellie, and Craig’s characters.
DTM ties into the series story more, imo

I actually thought the Jane sub-arc (which joined both halves of the film together) was a pretty brilliant bit of writing. Better than the pair the spares mentality applied to Spin/Emma anyway.
In the start of the film (with Declan, Holly J, and Fiona) she serves as a counterpoint for Fiona and a plot device as a whole. Putting her as the front for Flashin’ Midnight means an easy in for Holly J to become important at her internship. And a means for Fiona to show how far she’ll go to undercut Holly J.
When we get to the second half her wandering and her brief almost relationship with the guitarist in Flashin’ Midnight serves as a reflection of Spin and Emma’s quick rush into Love. And as a confirmation that Spin/Emma is a legitimate couple. So that she puts her emotional rollercoaster as what she thinks Spinner and Emma are doing.
The brilliant part was at the end, as a whole, the film gave her a lot of hopes and possiblities but none of them leveled. So her last line about her own fairy tale is that this film, on the whole, was a set-up to say Jane has everything ahead of her. The plots for the rest of the cast as stepping stones for that message for her, that her life doesn’t end with high school.
Overall I think it worked better than Goes Hollywood. If only for using maincast that actually still matter at some level. As opposed to Goes Hollywood which shoehorned in Miater and the Studz as comic relief.

Rakath, you make some really good points.
I did actually like the part how Jane realized she has a whole future ahead of her, and that Spinner wanted his life to stay the way it is because he’s essentially had everything he wanted. Plus, with Emma saying she didn’t have to conform to a glitzy life style like Manny has aimed for makes Spinner and Emma tolerable together. They both reached a point in their lives where they were comfortable, and I guess that ultimately drove them together. I love Spinner’s little museum for himself, it shows that his character has been through a lot and doesn’t want to forget how important Degrassi has been to his life.
Yes, in some ways they did connect the characters together better than DGH, but I still like DGH better.

OK I’m still undecided about which movie I enjoyed more. DGH was more exciting I suppose and fun.
But this felt more like Degrassi to me. Even though it all happened very fast.
And I like how they addressed that you don’t need to have fame and fortune to have happiness. Because DGH sort of gave that message.
But it was fun to watch! Felt like we wrapped up the old stuff and now we can really move on with the new generation :)

Haha, I think Drew is “playing” it nice. I find it weird how he was kinda mean to Sav & Peter but when he found out Sav went to Degrassi he started acting friendly.
I actually found Anya/Sav sorta interesting. HOWEVER, I hope we won’t be getting yet another season of them fighting then getting back together then fighting then getting back together. Give me a break!
Anya really needs to stand on her own two feet and get a life of her own. Either that or they should have Anya go “Fatal Attraction” on Sav. Have they done a stalker story yet? She would be the perfect candidate for it.

URGHHH!! They haven’t come out yet, and I’m sooo anxious. I hate all of this talk about how the movie and first four episode’s were amazing. And they put out the first four episodes the day of the movie? To me that’s odd, because I’m pretty sure that on teennick, they are only gonna do the movie on Monday, then this first episode Tuesday, second Wednesday, etc.

Spinner and Emma is the most random Degrassi moment ever! i was just sitting here like WTF the whole time. The movie was pretty good but Hollywood was better and I agree with Kary that the Holly J vs Fiona moments were the best. Cant wait for Season 10!

The movie was really good, more dramatic than Degrassi Goes Hollywood. But the thing that bugged me was Spinner and Emma. I thought it would be Manny and Jay’s wedding, then Spinner and Emma would hook up then realize their mistakes then Sean comes along and everyone would get their happy ending. But nope, that’s Degrassi. But the Holly J/Declan/Fiona parts were the best. I liked when they were skipping to get strawberries! Lol.

I thought the movie was well done, better then DGH. I just hope this isnt the last time we see Spinner, Emma, Jay, and Manny…hopefully they can advance Spemma in future movies by showing them together still or something.

Okay, so i just got done with watching DTM and i loved it!
my favorite scene was diffidently Holly J and Declan skipping for strawberry’s!
But i wished Jane would have stopped the wedding or Liberty was going to knock some sense into Emma.
I just didnt like Emma and Spinner it seemed rushed and weird.
And was it just me or did Emma have like no personality in the movie? it just seemed like she was their to take Spinner and that was her goal.

am i the only person who was sad that jane and spinner broke up, i mean as jimmy put it best, “shes you with boobs” I felt that they were suck a good couple and one of my favs. i thought spemma was rushed and ackward. i wanted jane to stop the wedding, i kept looking at the time hoping that there was enough time for her to stop it or for spinner to realize that he loved jane or something like that.

I was sad too! I wanted Jane to crash that wedding and for Spinner to take her back, but I knew it wasn’t gonna happen. And yes, I just saw the episode where Jimmy says that to Spinner earlier this morning, and it made me feel even worse for Jane and Spinner. At least Spinner forgave her though, and that the movie ended with no one really mad or upset with someone else, because I didn’t feel too good about the way Paige and Marco ended in DGH, so i liked it better this way.

Yes, I love Spinner and Jane. I feel they really understand each other a lot better than Spinner and Emma. Spinner and Emma haven’t had very many interactions throughout the series, and to decide that they love each other is very random and a bit weird. They try to justify it though at the end with Spinner saying he hates change and his life is comfortable the way it is, and Emma claiming she doesn’t have to reach for the stars like Manny to enjoy her life (which seems a bit out of character for Emma, but whatever). And they even furthur justify it by Jane realizing that she has a whole future ahead of her, and that Spinner could essentially hold her back from it. Emma and Spinner were rushed and with the lack of interaction between them throughout the series makes it hard to believe they are a legitimate couple. But I do like the part where Jane realized being with Spinner wasn’t her fairytale and that she wanted adventure unlike Spinner, though I still love Spinner/Jane, because as you said, they are perfect for each other. At the beginning of Season 9 I didn’t enjoy the direction Jane was going, and throughout the movie I wanted her to fight harder for Spinner, but by the end I realized that Jane is still one of the stronger female characters of the series. But overall that was Spinner, Emma, Manny, Jay, Jane, Danny, and Liberty’s final farewell to the show, so let the writers do what they want.

Think about this. When the ORIGINAL Degrassi series ended, Spike and Snake “hit it off.” If you ever saw the original series, they really didn’t interact that much, but TNG started off with them getting married.
Spemma is not a new concept. Trust me, in the “Degrassi Universe,” Liberty & Bruce the Moose may end up together.

I KNEW that the writers would make Spane look bad just to make Spemma look better.
First, Emma gets Kelly kicked out of the dorms and he stays with her. Now Emma blows up The Dot and Spinner MARRIES her? THIS GIRL IS NOT WORTH IT! She is the most unlikeable character in the history of TV.
I can’t believe that Liberty only shows up during the last few seconds and didn’t even interact with Emma or Manny. She didn’t even attend her own brother’s graduation? It REALLY pisses me off that the writers didn’t give Liberty the send-off the deserved.
Danny is going to an Ivy League school while Liberty is at Smithdale? I guess the writers forgot that Danny didn’t start making good grades until Grade 12.

Wow, you’re practically right on. I really don’t like Emma, and I hated that they made Spinner fall for her like that, but she did seem to make him happy, but whatever they’re both gone now. Definitely agree with Liberty not getting a good sendoff, and the fact that she didn’t interact with Emma/Manny, and Danny going to Cornell, while she’s at Smithdale, so pretty much agree with you on everything. But you did miss something: a great Declan/Fiona/HJ plot, IMO anyway. :)

After watching DTM again, I don’t know whether or not I feel it’s better than DGH, & I don’t really care for comparisons anyway. I loved Declan/Fiona/Holly J in DTM, but I didn’t get the Jane plot too much, except it helped her to realize her feelings for Spinner and drove her to attempting to crash the wedding, which I enjoyed. Still not gonna say I’m totally sold on Spemma, but watching the movie again, I felt more comfortable with them. I was fine with them trying to make the marriage work, but them feeling they were ready to spend their lives together still boggles my mind a bit. I did like that they continuously acknowledged how fast it happened and how crazy it was. Hm, what else? Loved Liberty, loved Declan/Holly J kissing and falling off the chair at the very beginning, & just noticed they skipped the opening credits altogether, so I’m interested in seeing the opening credits that they used in Canada. I’m also guessing Peter’s back at The Dot in S10 because he was expecting college money to come from Above the Dot, but since The Dot was being renovated, he didn’t have the funds. So to finish up, I did love DTM, but primarily because of the Declan/Fiona/Holly J plot, and that was enough to do it for me, as it perfectly setup S10, which is amazing so far. Again, I apologize. I tend to ramble when excited haha.

spinner and emma would have to be my all time favorite characters (and manny and jt) but I HATED spinner and jane ever since she cheated on him with declan. I always hoped he would find out and was SO happy when they broke up, because he deserved better. I was SO happy when spinner and emma got together, I thought it was so cute when they talked about emma’s science project from season 2. It just made me realize how long its been and how much i’ve loved watching these characters grow up. I’m absolutely devastated that spinner and emma arent returning for season 10. But at the same time i’m happy they got married, it was the best way they could have sent them off. but still i don’t think they should be leaving! when you think degrassi the first characters that come to my mind are spinner, emma, and manny. i mean the whole series is based off emma, how can they let her go?!?!
Also even though i’m not a big fan of jane, i did like her part in the movie. everyone is saying the flashing midnight thing is pointless, but i don’t think so at all! it just help show her having a good time and makes her realize that shes not exactly sure what she wants in her life. It helps lead up to the end where she says she can’t wait to find out whats next. i loved that part. even though she isn’t with spinner, she does say goodbye to him, which was sweet and she seems happy in the end.
i also LOVED fiona in the movie. so glad she is finally getting an important part in the series. but since when do people call her fifi? haha
overall I LOVED THIS MOVIE. i also loved DGH, they were both AMAZING! I cried when manny sang the song at emma’s wedding! Just think back to those 2 in the very first episode, they’ve come so far together since then, i’ll miss them soooo much!!

Yeah you’re right there’s nothing wrong with being a strong girl with strong opinions, but that isn’t all there is to Emma. She’s intolerant of other people’s point of views, to the point of being condescending. She beats people down with her opinions and then shoves them down their throat until the person realizes they’re wrong and Emma is right, because Emma’s way is the only way.

ilovedegrassi, I agree. I stopped caring for Jane after she cheated with Declan. That seemed so out of character for her. I just don’t see Declan as the type of guy she would fall for. Didn’t buy it. I was also glad when Spinner FINALLY found out. I was happy he caught Jane, punched Declan, and told Holly J to shut up!
As I stated above, I just don’t buy the whole Jane/Holly J/Declan friendship one bit. I know a lot of you may disagree but PERSONALLY, if I was Holly J, I wouldn’t have dated Declan. He knew Jane was dating Spinner yet he didn’t care. That saids a lot about him and what kind of person he is. I’m not saying Spinner or anyone else on this show is Holier Than Thou and that Declan is this evil person, but I’m just sharing on how I’d feel.
And it’s not like Holly J & Declan started dating waaaaay after his affair with Jane ended. It wouldn’t be a big deal if that was the case. But it’s just how fast Holly J got with Declan after the whole Jane situation that irritates me. What, it was like a few weeks or so?
And now all three are bff? Yeah, don’t buy it. But it’s TV. I shouldn’t take it so seriously. ;)

The first thing I did when I woke up this morning was searching for a link to watch the movie. I live in Europe so Teennick has no use for me.
After hours of searching I finally found one, I was so happy, hehe, but yeah.
About the movie. I was shocked, I was like; OMG all the time because of how madly in love Spinner and Emma seemed.
I like them as a couple, they’re cute, but it’s just weird to me. I always imagined Emma walking down the aisle to marry Sean, but yeah, that didn’t happen, but I’m okay with this! :P
About Holly J/Declan/Fiona.. Pfff, I don’t like Fiona anymore I think! It’s the same as with Holly J. I didn’t like her at all in the beginning, but right now, she’s one of my faves, and I need to say that she and Declan are like thé couple for me at the moment! They’re like how Semma was to me, haha. (I love Semma, Semma FTW! :P). It was so sweet of him to choose for Holly J instead of his sister, yeah, I love him, haha.
Jane.. I always wondered when Spinner would discover the cheating-thing, so yeah, this was the time. I think it was a good end for her. I loved the movie, I can’t compare it to DGH ’cause DGH was different than DTM.

The new s10 intro makes some homages to classic ‘Next Generation’. For example, in the scene with Clare, she sticks her tongue out to the camera. In earlier seasons, Emma, also, sticks her tongue out. Oh and of course the beginning with the skateboarder skating off the steps of Degrassi and there being a camera person (a.k.a. Ellie, Peter and now Sav). I’m lucky that I got to watch all first four episodes of s10. Y’know before TeenNick finally found out about the leak. For those who weren’t able to view them yesterday, be prepared. These episodes are soo good. No wait, AWESOME. This season, by far, surpassed s8 & s9. ~BYE LOVES~
Oh and the funniest part, where I actually lol’d, was when Wesley asked Clare if she could touch them. To Clare, ‘them’ meant her eyes, which she thought was odd. My message was addressed to anyone who was giving out spoilers. And please, no need for the snarky remarks or the condescending attitude. I like reading comments on here and it annoyed me when people gave out spoilers to something I hadn’t seen. People choose to read what other people write, that’s true.
But that doesn’t mean they wanted to intentionally ruin any surprises or interesting things in the show. I completely agree….the success that came from season 3 & 4, was that it was a steady build with the stories…so by midseason it would hit the climax of just about all the storylines, instead of everything happening in a 22 min episode…and we’re just there like *awkward pause* at the end of the episode.

I watched the movie and the first thought i had about it was it was way better than DGH. I love the original characters but you have to admit they have more storylines.

I watched the first four episodes and i thought:
SPOILERS ALERT!
WHAT A GIRL WANTS (part 1 & 2) were basically all the Fiona Promos put together all in one. It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t as great. :(
BREAKAWAY (Part 1 & 2) were actually good. I love all the plots.
A PLOT: Holly J steals money from Fiona after she consider her as a ‘close friend’
B PLOT: Sav and Anya faked a mischarge and they go back to his house. Then they start making out and his mom comes in. He told her before his mom came in that he will tell her that they are together. When is mom came in he jump up and told Anya she had to leave LMFAO.
C PLOT: Jenna overhears Alli and Claire talking and they were talking about her eye surgey. Jenna thought she was getting a boob job, so she tells everyone. Wesley went by her and ask her if he can touch them. She thought he was talking about her eyes, She said, “That’s kind of werid but sure.” Then he grabs her boobs LMFAO! :)

quite honestly, i thought dtm was terrible. i did really like the holly j/fiona/declan storyline, and the strawberries scene of course, but i thought the rest was just crap. jane’s storyline with the band was pointless, and spemma was so completely random! i get that they were drunk and got married, and i have no problem with that as a storyline. but it should have stopped there. but suddenly they’re professing their love to each other? i hate that their sendoff as characters was that they get married. it was so unbelievable to me that i cant view it as decent closure. jane’s sendoff of going to stanford was a tiny bit better, but i’ll be really annoyed if she doesnt at least come back for a couple episodes at some point.
and just a couple of smaller points:
i was annoyed that jane was valedictorian. it should have been danny.
how is it that liberty shows up for some unknown party that peter invited her to and not her own little brother’s graduation?

I think it’s hilarious Spinner ended up married to the ONLY girl on this show he never had a romantic relationship with. I mean, seriously. Paige, Terri, Ellie, Manny, Darcy, Jane, Holly J. Thankfully they referenced the ONE time Spinner and Emma ever interacted on the show. Or I’d be worried.
Truthfully, their relationship was handled better than I expected it would be… right up to the point where they said I love you. Cause what the dumb.
Fiona is a monster. Girl’s got some serious issues which should make for some awesome upcoming television. Frankly, and I’m gonna say it, I can’t believe they went there. But I’m not sure why I’m surprised, I do love this show.
Honestly though I’m a little excited for Holly J & Declan becoming splitsville. I’m pretty over it. It’s watered her down as a character, so the Holly J/Fiona debacle was pretty sweet.
Definitely not as good as Degrassi Goes to Hollywood, if only for the Spinner/Emma plot bordering on the ridiculous and the Jane plot bordering on the boring. The scene in the tent was lovely and poignant though. I’m glad Jane will go off to Stanford and live her life awesomely. And Emma was as bearable as she’s ever been, so that was a plus.

I have to admit I really loved Spinner and Emma getting married! I have watched the series from the start, and yes it was completely random… but I am a sucker for romance I guess, and they are two very likable characters, and very similar in the fact that they don’t need fame, money, glitz or glamor to be happy.
But I was CERTAIN they would somehow break up by the end of the movie, NO WAY did I expect them to actually stay married, even though I was hoping for it… but they did! I was happy but very surprised. Makes me wonder if they did that because we’ll never be seeing Spinner or Emma on the show again… this would be one way to close the book on those characters. But I really hope there is another Degrassi movie to end Season 10 and that Spinner, Emma, Manny, and as many other early TNG characters as possible return for it! *fingers crossed*
Also, totally hate Fiona now. She is such a psycho. It will be more difficult for me to have sympathy for her upcoming abuse storyline now.

Emma likeable? She’s always been annoying, but since Season 4 she’sbeen unbearable. Unlike many other characters, she’s actually gotten worse as the series progressed.

There wasn’t nearly enough Liberty. If there’s another movie she needs to get one of the main plots so they can FINALLY give her character a proper ending.

I don’t think she faked it. I think she sort of wanted it to be true so that Sean would stay with her but when she realized Sean was leaving no matter what… she got really scared and was praying for it not to be true. It obviously turned out negative though. lol

It looks small, but that seems to be pretty proportionate to the total amount of students that Degrassi has. I recall Raditch saying something about how the school has around 400 students (I think this was during season 4 in response to not taking Rick’s bullying complaints seriously). Now, if Degrassi still has grades 7 through 12, then that doesn’t make each class very big. But it’s hard to tell how much the Lakehurst infusion affected things.

I’ve never been much of a Holly J fan, but after this movie and seeing the first four episodes plus everything from last season I’m really starting to wish she wasn’t so focused on. I find her plots to be extremely boring and dry, plus her character is annoying as hell haha. She was entertaining when she was first introduced as the “mean girl”, but now she’s no fun. I hated how in the movie after Fiona went as far as to kiss Declan Holly J wasn’t mad at her the next day, she suddenly felt bad for poor Fiona and that was the end of the conflict. Lame! Hopefully she cheats on Declan or vice versa or anything interesting really, just not another season of bitching about money problems and being oh so in love. Where’s the drama geez? :P
I liked to movie for the most part, I just wish they would have went more in-depth with the whole HollyJ/Declan/Fiona conflict.

I really liked the Spinner/Emma romance. It kinda makes sense to me, looking back at the characters’ histories. Both are kind of tempestous and impulsive and passionate. I also think that they compliment each other very well. They kind of balance each other out. I just reconcile myself with the idea that perhaps Manny/Jay being a couple led to their bff’s Spinner and Emma to hang out and we just never saw it because we were too busy watching Sav and Anya make up and break up eight thousand times. I also want to say that if Peter stays around then he better do something interesting or go back to being evil Peter.

Thats exactly what I thought about the Spinner and Emma plot. I think they are cute together and if you really think about it: everybody seemed to know and talk to everybody in Degrassi so I’m sure they talked and hung out. We just never saw because… what would be the story line? I am so tired of the whole Anya/Sav relationship. Anyway, that was a perfect way to end the movie with Spinner and Emma together:)

Like I said… I haven’t seen it yet but… maybe Spinner and Emma had feelings for eachother all along but just never said anything. I mean Emma was dealing with all the Sean, Damian, Kelly drama and maybe Spinner just got “comfortable” with Jane. In the blog it says something about Spinner liking things to stay the way they are. Maybe he just didn’t want to change anything with his life by changing his relationship. Idk… I’m just saying what I thought; maybe I’m wrong. lol
Anyway, I was rooting for Spinner and Emma so I’m glad they stay together. I think it was a perfect way for them to leave the show. I can’t wait to watch DTM on TeenNick tomarrow night and I really can’t wait for season 10:)

You make a good case about Spinner being comfortable with Jane. I think that was a good portion of his relationship with Paige too. And Emma clearly comes in from the start of this movie with an interest in Spin, but the whole thing is still just so much out of nowhere since I don’t think you could possibly find two characters on this show who have interacted less.

I’m really hoping for another movie too, that will bring back Emma, Sean, and other original DTNG characters. They decided to do another movie after Degrassi Goes Hollywood was such a big success, so maybe they will do the same if this one is successful :D

I think the coupling of Spinner and Emma made a lot of sense, although it was VERY rushed. Spinner and Emma are both characters who depended on the opposite sex to help define them. Spinner has always be quick to fall in love and be deep in the love while at it. Emma has always been the type of person to make up her mind and stick to her guns. The romance made sense but it was RUSHED.

After reading all these posts… I realized that everyone is so down on the Spinner/Emma relationship. Emma and Spinner were basically two of my favorite characters of all time and I was happy to see them together. I get that it makes people mad that they “rushed it” or whatever but they seem happy from what I read. Plus, they are off the show now anyway and it IS just a show. lol I got attached to the characters too but no need to get offensive. lol

I completely agree with your review. I liked ‘Hollywood’ goes better, but I think it may be because it featured more of the classic cast members and appropriately wrapped up / sent to the wild blue yonder their storylines (I’m looking at you Paige/Marco friendship). Plus Jay and Manny!
I liked Manhattan because it focused on some of my fave characters – namely Jane and Holly J, but I was not a fan of the Emma/Spinner storyline from the get go. It was so obvious what was going to happen, and then it just turned bizarre with the ‘I love you’ / wedding storyline. I was hoping the next Degrassi movie would bring back most of the cast for a major character wedding (like Manny and Jay for example) but I feel like this movie’s random wedding kind of pre-empted that.
That being said, if the Emma/Spinner relationship is spun out through the series now, that’ll be cool. If it’s sort of left to hang and we assume they lived happily ever after, then meh. Either way, psyched for S10!!!

Since TeenNick isn’t airing the movie until tonight, the first four episodes have been moved back to Tuesday – Friday. That way TeenNick and MuchMusic will be on the same airing schedule come next Monday.

The first four episodes are on you tube, if anyone wanted to know. My thoughts on them are: I like the friendship between Holly J and Fiona- it seems more equal and real. I look at them and think yeah they could be friends. Jenna- she just looks horrible this year. I’m not saying she has to be a perfect whatever, but Jessica Tyler looks really unhealthy- to have gained that much weight in a short period of time is not healthy. I also hate Alli’s bangs. She’s an adorable girl and the bangs just don’t compliment her imo. Sav actually has a personality this season! So does Anya! I’d like to see both actors do more than break up/make up with each other. Glad to see Webster gone, as he added nothing for me, hopefully Chante will leave this season too as she does nothing.

Emma did her science fair project when she was in grade 8 not grade 9 and Spinner was boycotting the cafe when she was in grade 7 the science fair project and the boycotting the cafe have nothing to do with each other
Also this is an even smaller detail. Liberty and Danny would have to be twins. On the Season 1 DVD extras it says that Liberty skipped sixth grade so that would mean that she would have graduated this season instead of in Season 7 making her and Danny either twins or one of them’s adopted

I liked the declan, Fiona, and Holly j storyline( come on, who didn’t?)But as of spinner and jane breaking up and MARRYING emma,i was shocked. How the heck is it possible for them to fall in love in a day? Did this all of a sudden turn into a disney movie? I’d give the movie a b-.

I hate the movies. They serve the purpose to write off characters, but the story lines are always so far fetched compared to the actual show. Spinner and Emma falling in love and getting married in a matter of days? That’s fairytale stuff. The supporting cast members like the TVM host Kristen are always over the top, corny characters who don’t match up well with the more realistic characters seen during the regular Degrassi episodes. The only good thing that came out of this episode was the incestual kiss between Declan and Fiona, which sets up her abusive boyfriend story line perfectly and helps us better understand her emotional issues. Other than that, the Degrassi movies are nothing like the half hour episodes I enjoy much more and play out more realistically.

Just rewatched it on TV, and I got to say the very best part of the whole movie is that scene between Declan and Fiona when he throws the paper at her and tells her she’s going to the Hamptons. Seriously killer. Such an awesome job from both of them.

i LOVED the movie. much better than DGH. i know most people are really pissed about spemma, but IMO, i really loved them together! emma and spinner are my two all time favorite characters so i liked the idea when i first heard about it. i still think sean is the BEST for emma but its very unlikely that sean is going to come back for her so i guess spinner is the next best for her. and jane and spinner…well i think they were bound to break up someday. i though spinner and emma actually worked very well together and even though we never saw them interact on the show and the whole relationship was pretty random and rushed, they were pretty adorable. plus i loved when they referenced weird science. it was weird that they just got married randomly but the good thing was the coupling worked so i was happy about that storyline and how it ended.
i also lovedddd fiona in the movie. annie clark is a GREAT actress and we can finally see it. the emotional scenes were great with her. the fiona/holly j rivalry was awesome and i loved holly js old mean side. fiona is for sure my new favorite character.
definitly the worst part of the movie was jane’s part. i liked when she stole the car and went to the wedding, but other than that it was just sooooo boringggg. they should have just taken that plot out of the movie and focused more on fiona/holly j and spemma. they were much more interesting.
i loved seeing liberty and i was very happy she was at the wedding. another horrible part about the movie though was that toby lookalike! we all know that was not actually toby, so there was no need for them to throw some random guy who looked like him in there and try to pass him off as toby. that really annoyed me.

Where to begin with my take on DTM… ah yes, way to go JANE. Spinner is excited about spending time with you and you tell him that you are going to Stanford; smh. Pool party was nice, but way to go Holly J for bringing up the affair that the man that was cheated on overheard. Declan got what he deserved. Jenna would’ve been a good replacement at The Dot, but can’t go wrong the Emma choice. LOL/FAIL at Emma for leaving that grill thing unattended and burning The Dot. FAIL/LOL at Spinner for not disposing of Jane’s mementos box and for having that green folder of his and Emma’s grade 9 health project. I thought it was LOL because Emma thought it like that, but the women probably found it cute I suppose. Good look on Jay’s, Manny’s and Emma’s part to take Spinner to Niagra Falls to gamble and forget about Janebreak. LOL at Spinner for saying “I have been held hostage before.” Who knew Emma was an expert 21 player? Their “What happens in Vegas” moment was surprising and it was pretty funny Jay tried to change the subject by vouching for the buffet. Anyways enough talking about Spemma, let me get to talking about Fiona. I rewatched the near end of Heart Like Mine Part 2, and when Declan and Fiona had their interaction, Chantay gave the look of “um, why the hell are you guys flirting with each other?” I had watched that bit a few times and thought nothing of it, but the pieces fell together in the movie. We all obviously know now that Fiona is lonely and had to resort to an extreme measure to let the world know that she was lonely and hates being alone. That was really messed up of her for 1 UPing Holly J because of her perceived thoughts of her “hogging him.” As for Holly J, it did her no good for keeping the affair under wraps from Spinner. She showed her true colors, as did Jane. I really don’t have anything else to add; oh wait I do.
Clare wasn’t stalking Declan; she was simply watching the JatS concert. There goes Holly J being judgy once again.
As much as I have defended Spinner, SMH for getting tatted with a girl that cheated on you. A girl that no longer felt a spark in the relationship. A girl that made it pretty damn clear that she was moving on. KARMA came for Jane in the form of that guy getting back with his ex, Declan getting punched in the face, Hollan J stalling her and Spemma getting married. Who knew Jay was a minister? He’s obviously an amateur because he didn’t say all those things you are supposed to say such as the vows and the “if there is anyone here..” part. I think he did it on purpose so Jane wouldn’t mess anything up. As for the fight, it shouldn’t have happened since Jane couldn’t say “take me back Spin.” She realized that closure was needed since the damage was done. Was that Toby and Liberty? Good to see them again but Toby, it is a wedding, nice 5:00 shadow but SHAVE. I don’t like Liberty’s new ‘do. Beautiful song by Manny at the end along with a mix of Downtown Sasquatch, Stüdz/Janie and the Studs strumming/drumming. Snake finally warmed up to his daughter getting married because he realized that she was finally happy. Spike chuckled because I got the impression that it reminded her of her and Snake’s wedding because of the spontaneity. I’m pretty sure thats it now; oh wait one more thing.
After watching DTM, there is no doubt in my mind that the Spemma anti-fandom has grown exponentially. They have their reasons I’m sure, but look at Spemma. When was the last time you’ve seen Spinner happy? With Paige? Nope because he was a lapdog? Manny? Nope because she was distant. Darcy? Eventually nope because she posed for the whole world to see. Jane? Nope because he was constantly worried about if he made her mad or not. Jimmy saw it early; Jane is indeed Spinner with boobs.

OMG this movie was extremly BOGUS! I have never seen such dumb twist and turns, who gets a tatoo and marries another woman who used to hate you, and why make your rebound a marrige! please i ask all to not waste your time on this if you r like me you will only leave you TV screen upset i prefer DGH over this terrible DTM i wish i could get back those two hours of my life i wasted i am so unhapy by the wriers dislay the acting phoneminal, story line a BIG THUMBS DOWN! i was horibly dissapointed my excitment was for nothing! what went wrong with the writers?I am true degrassi fan i an tell tht the show is way better than the movie and i do mean WWWWAAAYYYY BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I actually think this was better then Hollywood movie. Hollywood was great in its own right but almost abandoned off the story to have one last go with a few originals. This movie kind of gave room for send offs but also gave a taste of sorts and leaves tie ins for the new season. As a movie by itself I think Hollywood is great, but as far as unity this one takes the cake.
Spinner and Emma, i like them together tbh. The movie was done over the summer in storyline time so they had months together between deciding to stay married i think … so it seems quick while watching but thinking about the time frame it seemed good. It was a BIT random but they had some cute moments and both kinda had the storybook ~moment~ where both didn’t feel right where they were at and kind of fell into place.
Holly J/ Fiona … Nice to see relatable and likeable Holly with that old bitch edge she used to have. I loved the locking up Fiona! Also Fiona has some issues which is great for drama and storyline wise and would set up well. Her dad’s not really involved much ( im not sure if hes there but its obvious the mom is around more for them ) so she has Daddy issues as well as feeling abandoned by Declan which make her being abused and staying with the guy in next season make sense.
Manny will always be my favorite so seeing her again, a song, and a nice old Manny style cat fight was great … i was hoping Jay would feel in the wedding mood and propose at the end XD
Overall it was a very good movie, had some closure of sorts for some old characters, tied in to next seasons, had some really cute moments ( Spinner’s Mom giving him the ring and Jane loving Spin enough to let em go ) and was very nice overall! Can’t wait for next season!

Was I the only one who thought that seeing Manny, Spinner, Jay, and Emma in the movie meant that at least Emma and Spinner would be continuing their story in season 10? When Emma said she was “back for the summer and fall” I thought “yes! we’ll be seeing more of her” but I guess I didn’t realize they were just trying to put an end to the original cast.
I will miss the original cast a lot because they were by-far the people that made this show what it is for me and it’s a bit harder to get into the new characters when they’re not introduced as strongly as older characters were.
As far as DTM, I thought it was better than DGH by far. It felt like an extended episode of Degrassi whereas DGH felt like some fantasy-land movie.
The part about Jane being valedictorian was quite ridiculous. There was no evidence what-so-ever in any of her episodes about her being good in school, or even caring about grades. They should’ve just let some unknown person be valedictorian.
Her role in the movie was pretty boring too. What was the point of her being in a band?
I’m a bit sad to hear that Declan won’t be a regular on the show. I hope he eventually (quite soon) comes back to regular appearances because he was becoming one of my favorite new characters on the show and I would love to see more Fiona and Declan brother/sister conflicts that I think this show hasn’t really covered before.
And Emma and Spinner together? I thought that was pretty crazy. I definitely saw the hook-up coming because that’s basically the last two people who haven’t been together so it was a bit expected but getting married? Didn’t see it coming. I thought for sure they were going to break it off because they have no history in the past nine seasons but the undying love for each other was pretty surprising.
I guess in all, I can see a great set-up for season ten and I’m ready to see more Degrassi.

You know what you see isn’t always just that. There would be more that couldn’t be shown. Like Derek could have just moved away in the summer, Spinner and Emma could have chatting it up during season 9 and 10 over phone or web. There is alot that we don’t know about.
Also, with the original cast out of show (except for Snake)m it seems perfectly logical. IN DJH, they ended series when the kids who went to DJH moved to DH and they ended the series after that class graduated. The show isn’t much about the first set of characters but about the paths the characters take while going to the famous school. When they graduate, they leave and go on. No need for them, also how can it relate to teens if a lot of the cast is in college or in workplace? But the thing that pisses me off is that the new classes we see them starting from grade 9 or 10. Not from the beginning at Grade 7, like season 1. Remember how they had the cast growing up like they’re characters, that was what hooked us and now they went with what most Teen Dramas are doing, casting people over the age their character is. I know that some of them are over 18. Yeah I wish they did what they did with Season 1. Two Classes of Kids and we see them go on through Jr.Sr High and up untill graduation. That would revitalize the show.

So I just had to come on here and share my opinion of the movie. lol
So first of all… Everybody who said the Jane plot was dumb… was so right. Everytime she came on the screen, I got bored. I was they would have given her a more important role or none at all.
Secondly, the whole Declan/Fiona/Holly J. thing was pretty good. It was good that Fiona finally got to show real emotion.
Thirdly, I was so happy with how they did the whole Emma/Spinner plot. Everyone was saying how rushed it was so I expected it to be like, “Hey Emma!” “Hey Spin!” “Let’s get married!!” “Okay!” but I don’t think it was like that at all. I could tell they had real feelings for eachother and I was happy they ended up with eachother. It was a fairytale ending lol.
I hope they decide to do like a Degrassi reunion movie or something:) That way we can see if Spinner and Emma’s wedding lasted, if Ellie stayed with Craig, if Marco and Paige made up, who married/ended up with who, what Liberty ended up doing, etc. I loved the ending of the movie but I would love to see a reunion so we can see a true ending to everyone’s stay on Degrassi:)

Mostly the only comments I see here are about the Spemma happening, so I’ll just add, SEMMA ftw. Kay. :D I swear, Sean’s going to swoop in, and they’re going to make some ‘movie’ thing (like the Christmas one at Degrassi, with Caitlyn, Craig, Joey, etc. or whatever that thing was.) about how Spinner drives to CA to get back Jane. Then he’ll go to police college and everything will work out.
UT I didn’t come here to talk about that. Did ANYONE else notice Declan crying when he yelled at Fiona? Everyone was saying he was a total jerk for ‘ditching’ her. But, she really needs to branch out and get new friends, from what I could tell, which is why her storyline, going to a new school and stuff, seems perfect. My two favorite scenes out of the whole movie were Declan crying and when he and Holly J get back together, his smile after she says, “This is your last chance.” omg. It was adorable.

Yeah I don’t think Declan was ditching Fiona at all. Yelling at her wasn’t mean, he was just saying what needed to be said. She’s overly clingy with Declan to the point where it’s unhealthy, and she def. needed to develop a life of her own.

Exactly, Kary. I didn’t find the kiss all that much of an ‘incest’ move, really, because family kisses. I admit it was sort of more than you’d expect from family, but Fiona was drunk and wanted to to something rash in order to, as she put it, ‘send Holly J a message’. She’s really territorial over Declan, which is the good part about the new season, she’ll meet new people.

I gotta respectfully disagree. On the one hand, yes, but on the other hand, you’d be hard-pressed, I think, to find a teenaged brother-sister pair who kiss on the lips under normal circumstances. And the length & forcefulness behind it obviously alluded to something more. And what sort of message was she trying to send Holly J exactly?

Well, yes, that’s why I said, Fiona was drunk. xD The message was that Declan was like her anchor, he was always there for her, and they’re close. Going as far as forcing a disturbing kiss on him is really innapropriate, given the situation, you’re right, and I completely agree. But as of right now, with how Fiona has Bobby and had Riley, I’m not immediately calling them incestuous. Even though that kiss was really disturbing, and, extremely awkward-looking for Holly J. :\ Lol.

i can see why alot of people disliked the whole emma and spinner relationship, it was compltley random how emma and him ended up together but i must say that i really like them together, is it bad i felt bad for jane at the end when she was crying her eyes out and manny tries to kick her ass? beacuse i was like damn jane sucks for you, but her charcter bored me through out the entire movie i didnt reallly care about jane in a band or anything, fiona was a bitch but idk i think she couldve been a bigger one, but overall i really liked the movie, cant decide between DGH or DTM, they were both pretty good[:

Of course I was literally freaking out while watching the movie. I kept attacking my friend with pillows during to commercial because I was so excited XD
I kinda expected Fiona liked Declan a little bit to much before but obviously moving around all the time neither of them made friends. Fiona depended on him to much and he was her only friend. But Declan had a lot of GFs that got in the way of Fiona.
Emma+Spinner… as soon as they clued in that they were going to happen I was like “Come on the most interaction they’ve had is when he helped her with a science project then got a boner in class!!! (So I loved when that was mentioned!!!) It was so random though and so fairy tail! But in the end it was perfect! We all new Emma would get her fairy tail and Spinner really deserved one.
Spinner- “I love my music but I don’t wanna be famous. I love my job but I don’t need to be rich. I love my loft, my city, and I don’t like change. But I’m glad one thing change…” This line melted my heart X3 (you should have seen my face)

Well, I really loved this movie. Ok guys, I’m not gonna lie, there were some parts in this movie that made me get teary eyed. First of all, Jane has been my fave character since she came to the show. Especially her and Spin, I always thought they were the true example of love. But I DID lose a huge chunk of respect for her when she cheated. Anyways, the parts that made me feel kinda sad was when Spin was telling Emma to “go back in time”, since he was about to cry, and thats not something we’ve seen often. Also I full on actually CRIED when Jane was in the tent in the end asking Spin if he’ll ever forgive her. That hit me HARD. Because then I realized what was happening, that that was the last time we would see her, and the others. I just get attached to the characters.. But I felt so bad, because yes Jane screwed up, but because she did not exactly end on good terms with the other characters, like her and the band (aka her best friends) obviously hate her now. So now all she has is Holly J. I just felt sad for her, because I really did think her and Spin would make it. Did anyone else get teary eyed in this movie? Ok so now onto the things that kind of bothered me, 1. the fact that the producers couldnt even mention Jimmy, who should’ve been mentioned since he is like Spinner’s best friend. That and I mean you think his past friends would have at least been mentioned? I don’t know, to me that’s just laziness on the producer’s part. I don’t care if any of you say I’m stupid for getting so emotional, but hey, realize everyone’s different.

Yeah.. but she just wanted Emma’s day to be perfect and if you really think about it… if you walked in on your best friends fiance and his ex girlfriend(who he just broke up with like a week ago) sort of kissing… it probably wouldn’t look to good. Maybe she didn’t have to attack her but at the same time it was sort of understandable in a way IMO.

personally i loved spinner and emma. They are my favorite characters (and JT)! I thought there whole marriage was rushed, but the whole point of the movie was that good things can come out of mistakes. They are going to make the marriage work since they want to be together anyways and have feeling for each other :) Love doesn’t have to be planned, they KNOW EACH OTHER too, it’s been like 10 years haha!They are both flawed, but equally. JANE DID HIM WRONG! i think for spinner to forgive her is the right thing to do, but for spinner to get back together with jane would be terrible.. he trusted her and she cheated to feel good about herself.
emma and spinner belong together, (now them suddenly being married is random) but they should date anyways and they are grown.. I feel like them staying married is them looking on the bright side which more people in the world need to do!
Having emma wait for sean is not fair for her character. same with spinner trusting jane again.
Oh and the incest thing i totally saw coming from the minute declan and fiona were on the show. It was one of the few things degrassi hasnt experienced!!
But i really actually thought the twins would turn out to be step brother and sister.. but no. haha

I love Spinner and Emma!!! you guys act like they were total STRANGERS who got drunk and married…..NO They have known eacthother for years and the experience opened their eyes in a new way..its sorta like you have a freind you have known for years but havint thought of eachother that way and when you grow up feelings change.
Things worked out for Jane TO ME cus she would go off to college she didnt need spinner holding her back.
Sean is in the army Emma doesnt have to wait around hoping Sean will reapear one day.
Spinner and Emma ARE HAPPY.
ITS ALL FATE it has a good outcome…Trust me Degrassi writers KNOW what they are doing

What I like about Degrassi, is that every season is different and the characters develop and new ones come. The producers, director, and the writers developed the characters and created new storylines. This in my opinion is what makes a series exciting to watch,
