There’s no new Degrassi episode tonight (or any Friday night for the next month), but that still doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate Degrassi Fridays! Here’s today’s Degrassi Friday topic:
What was the first episode of Degrassi you ever watched?
For me it was Against All Odds. I watched it in the Summer of 2004, during the midst of their summer season (the last 8 episodes of Season 3, excluding Accidents Will Happen of course). I wouldn’t say this episode was a “gamebreaker” for me, it just intrigued me enough to wanna watch another episode. And I just so happened to catch a Degrassi marathon one night and I was hooked. Another thing that hooked me was hearing rumblings on the internet about the “secret” episode AWH, the one that was too controversial to air at the time.

If you haven’t seen the episode in a while or you’ve never seen it (I was shocked to find out some people have never seen any of the older seasons), it takes place after Emma and Sean have broken up. Emma has a crush on a guy named Chris, and Manny drags Emma to a club to see Chris “spin a set.” But Manny also has her own motives for going to the club…she wants to hook up with Craig while Ashley is out of town. The subplot is Jimmy, Spinner and Marco spending the night studying at Jimmy’s house, but Spinner’s still uncomfortable with Marco’s sexuality.
Against All Odds also has the biggest technical goof I can remember in any Degrassi episode. If you don’t know already know what it is, see if you can find it…

I can’t remember the title of the episode, but the very first one I saw was the one where Toby is taking forever in the bathroom and Ashley is getting annoyed. He then spots her bra hanging up in the bathroom, and comes out wearing it. lol

Last Year, Spring of 2009, the first episode I watched on The N was Tears are not Enough Part 1. Then on Summer 2009, when I started to like Degrassi, On June 2009 I watched Voices Carry and that episode made me like this show. Is the trailer for Degrassi Takes Manhattan on the TeenNick website yet?

The first episode I ever watched was Sunglasses at Night, but the episode that really intrigued me was Standing in the Dark, and it is my favorite episode to this day.

my first episode was Lost in Love parts 1 and 2 when Spinner lies to Jane about getting into police college and Spinner shows up at her house at like 2am drunk and then goes to her speech to ask her to marry him. The subplot is Connor and Kc both ask Claire to the school dance and Claire agrees to go with Connor but then kisses Kc. That episode was so good it got me hooked. I’ve seen all of the Degrassi episodes before that and following that.

For the longest time I just watched little bits of different episodes just to see what it was about and I didn’t let my parents know that I was watching it cause I thought they might not want me watching a show where a guy asks a girl for a blowjob and stuff like that. Then during my Junior year of high school I started watching during Season 8. The first complete episode that I watched was Man With Two Hearts. I liked that they talked about stuff like homosexuality, sex toys, masturbation, etc. cause they are important teen issues. So then I was hooked.

Yeah my mom grew up with the 80s Degrassi, and when TNG rolled around, I really didn’t care about it (I was 6 or 7 at the time) so all I wanted to watch was the Disney/Nick things but then when I grew up she still recorded it and it became those shows you watch with your mom just ‘cuz, and watch (or remember little clips). Then recently (like before s8 started to air) I saw season 8 promos, and got excited and watched ‘If this is it’ where spinner is failing and does (or doesn’t) do a project with Jimmy.

My first episode I ever saw was “Careless Whisper”. I watched it when I was visiting some relatives in Massachusetts. A while later in the summer I spent the week in Maine and saw “Gangsta gangsta”. I told my friends about this show and one of them said they already knew about and loved it. The rest of that summer I looked it up and grew to love the show. I didn’t get The N until I moved in which was when season 6 started and that’s the season I actually watched and I couldn’t get enough. And when the “every Degrassi ever” marathon came on later that year I got caught up on everything and it has been my favorite show ever since.

Mine was in 2007 and it was “Secrets”, with Jay and Emma, i hated it at first and thought it was a stupid name for a show and Jay and Emma were ugly lol but then one night during like new years i think, they were giving a marathon and i watched it and fell in love, till this day :D lmao <3

LMAO, that’s the first episode I watched to and I ALSO hated it at first. I was like “WTF is this even about?” It was when I first moved to Oklahoma and was searching for something to watch and I decided to watch that a second time and was like “… this is pretty good” and then I began watching the 4th season and then the marathons and fell in love with it. ^_^

the first episode i watched was the end of Hig Fidelity part 2. i was interested so i watched Here Comes Your Man right after that. i was hooked after that. this was like exactly a year ago

the first one i saw was “Everything She Wants”, where Mia gets in trouble for bringing Bella to Lucas’s party. at the time, i didnt know really anything about the show, besides the title, and then it ended without the issue being resolved and i was like, “what?! thats the end?!” oddly enough, i happened to see that same episode again months later, still not having seen any other episode. (i think that was in 2008) the first episode that i watched without just stumbling upon it when flipping channels was “Lost in Love” (or, “Degrassi Valentine’s Special”, as it was advertised). i decided to watch it cause i’d seen the Mia episode and thought, “well, that was decent, maybe i can learn to like this show.” so i watched “lost in love”, and it was awful. it wasn’t until another 6 or so months later (summer of 2009) that i actually started watching. i saw a few of the good episodes, and i was totally hooked. i started recording every episode on DVR and watching for about 8 hours a day. within a week, i’d seen most of season 3-8. it wasnt until i’d been obsessed with the show for a few months, though, that it occurred to me that i’d never seen seasons 1 and 2. so i gave myself a degrassi marathon on the computer (yay, zshare!) and now i’ve seen every episode.

The first episode I saw was during the summer of 2009. It was “Bust a Move” where Darcy’s parents send her to the brat camp. It was very intense and intriguing which got me hooked. Actually, my mom was watching the episode (idk why) lol but i’m glad she did because up until that point I hated Degrassi .. now I love it!

The first time i watched Degrassi was in early 2006. They were the episodes, “Take My Breath Away,” “Rock and Roll High School, and “Should I Stay or Should I Go?” After watching them, I was hooked and I watched them all in a week.

my story with degrassi was crazy. i remember hearing about the show when nickelodeon played promo for the-n. i wasn’t into it, because I didnt have the channel yet, but I remember Drake and some other cast members were on TEENick (the old version) one time and they played “Wannabe” (the pringle can I’ll always remember) on TEENick at one point, but i never payed attention, because I was young and cartoon were the hot thing out rite nw.
years later, season 8 began at they played a promo for “Causing Commotion” and I was like “okay…this looks interesting” Then there was “Heat of The Moment” and I just got hooked afterwards. I stared going on the internet and watch every episode and it instantly became my favorite show ever man!
the funny thing was that when I watched season 8, i had no idea that it was the same show from back in 2001. LOL. at least until I did more research.

Same with me, too. Like I was watching the older seasons of Degrassi. And then TeenNick showed a commercial for “Heat of the Moment,” and I was like. This isn’t Degrassi. That’s when I found out that most of the original cast left.
Anyways my first episode was when Liberty told her parents she was pregnant. The episode that got me to watch the show was “Standing in the Dark.” That episode was great, unlike pretty much of season 7.

My first episode was ‘coming of age’. I don’t know when it aired exactly, I guess 2002/2003. I live in the Netherlands so it aired here later than in Canada & The US.
I watched the first two seasons in the years after, but in the years after it didn’t air here anymore.
Two summers ago I remember myself of Degrassi: ‘Hey, I used to watch it as a little child’. I googled it, and I was so in shock by the way Emma looked, ha ha. That summer I started watching all the episodes all over again, and when season seven begun the air, I’ve started following it. It’s bad I live in another timezone, so I have to wait till the other day to see it, but I can live with it.
I’m a big Semma fan since that first episode of mine, and I still hope for a reunion, but I don’t see it coming :( But it would be great, ha ha.

The first episode I saw was in december 2005. Lol I remember cuz my friend got the Jay and Silent Bob episode on Dvd and so I watched it and it got me hooked. So the first one I watched was “West End Girls” I think that’s what its called. It is right before the season 4 finale. But ya right after that I bought the 2nd season dvd cuz i could’nt find the first one but then I knew I had to continue watching the show. Now I record all new eps and have season 1-8 on DVD.

i remember watching the old degrassi’s w/ my older sisters on CBC in the late 90’s early 00’s. but the very first TNG episode i watched was where manny & craig was on their 1st date. i think it was take my breath away. i watched on a VSH someone recorded for my sister.

First episode I saw was “Mercy Street.” I felt so bad for Rick not understanding what he did to Terri (still felt bad for him watching it a second time, but not as much). It was a depressing episode, yet for some reason left me wanting to watch more.

I don’t actually remember when I watched my first episode, but it was ‘U Got the Look’ , which was the first milestone of establishing Manny as the school slut. I think the reason I kept on the channel was because I watched Life With Derek beforehand and I recognized ‘Sully’.

Me 2. My friends were already hooked but i saw season 8 and thought it was boring. I watched Shout and I was kind of hooked. Then, I watched Venus and Here Comes Your Man. Since then, I am hooked.

My first episode ever was “Don’t You Want Me? – Part 2” in August 2009 (woooot, the 1 year anniversary of my obsession is just 2 months away! :D ) I became hooked instantly and the same night I watched all of the episodes they had On Demand. And waitt, I just watched “Against All Odds”…I couldn’t find the goof hahah does anybody know what it was?

Honestly I’m not sure. For the longest time Degrassi was just a show I would watch every now and then and eventually started to remember people. I mostly just watched reruns on like other channels since I didn’t have the N.
My best memory of watching and actually following the stories was like Season 3 reruns. I remember getting hooked on the search for Emma’s father and watching Manny turn into a sort of bad girl.
But it wasn’t until last year that I REALLY got into this show and started watching it regularly.

The first episode I ever watched was “Shout” christmas of 02. I was a freshman in high school and couldn’t believe a show would “go there.” I stayed up until like 6 in the morning watching the rest of the marathon. The next day I was telling my friend about it, and she was a “closet” degrassi fan, so she gave me a bunch of episodes she’d taped. By the time school had rolled around, I had seen every episode, including degrassi junior high and high. I didn’t get to watch much because I didn’t have the n, but once the dvds came out I bought them and had a marathon of my own.
And to those of you who have never seen the earlier episodes, you are really missing out. Watch them!

I know the error! Craig is seen at the rave at one point, but in the next scene he’s at home with Joey.
My first episode was It’s Raining Men and it was during one of the-n’s hiatuses during Season 4 (after TSS, but before Secret).

I honestly can’t remember the first episode that I watched, it was last summer though when my sister was watching a Degrassi Marathon, and she started to get hooked, and then I was bored and watched an episode with her and eventually got hooked. I believe it could have possibly been “Here Comes Your Man” or “Eyes Without A Face” (Actually, I thought Darcy was so annoying with that being my first impression of her!) I’ve been hooked for almost a year though.
I can still remember a couple of years ago flipping through the channels and I believe I saw a promo for the first episode of Season 8, with KC and Clare.

The technical error is during a scene at the rave, Manny and Emma are talking and you can see Craig in the background but he’s not supposed to be there yet, at that point he was still at Joey’s house.

When Emma and Manny are talking about Chris at the party, they part ways then when Manny walks away you see Craig in the background but a scene later he is watching t.v. with Joey and Sidney.

Then there must be two mistakes in this episode cause when Kary said that there was a technical goof I though he meant an actual “technical” goof, which there is. When Emma accidentally turns off the power there are some blue lights behind them that are still on.

The first episode I’ve ever watched was actually the first episode of Degrassi Junior High. From there, I began to watch everything Degrassi related. Of course, I’m one of the few older people who grew up watching the original series.

My first episode was Season One’s “Rumors and Reputations”. It’s the one where Liberty get’s accused of sleeping with Mr. Armstrong after Emma see’s him and her together in his classroom. Turns out Liberty just had a learning disorder. After that I went back and watched the first episodes of the first season and was hooked from then on. Been there since D:TNG’s beginnings pretty much. I started watching when I was 11. I’m 20 now and I still love it. Nothing as good as the first 6 season’s, but still a pretty darn good show.
I remember that my favorite character’s were J.T., Ashley, Craig, Ellie, Manny, Liberty and Emma (Protest Emma).

The first episode I watched was back in 2002 and it was “The Mating Game”. That’s the one where Ashley and Jimmy plan on having sex as an anniversary gift to each other or something. lol. I think I was 11 around the time that aired. I’m 19 and still a fan of Degrassi.

“The Mating Game” was my first episode also. The only reason why I started watching it was because I saw a promo for it while I was watching a different show and I was like what the heck’s Degrassi: The Next Generation?! I thought it was some star wars spin off at first when I heard the name then saw the promo and was likkeeee hmmmm this looks a lot better than what’s on the Disney Channel. Then I quickly got caught up and have seen every single episode EVER! (even AWH) I am 20 am now and will not stop watching this show. It has become a big part of my life because I went through a lot of stuff some of the characters did. I will never stop watching Degrassi as long as it keeps airing!

my very first episode was take my breath away. its the episode where manny and craig go on their first date. i remember hearing some chick at my school talking about it so i decided to watch the episode. i admit i forgot about the show up until two years ago during a new years eve marathon with my cousin who had recently gotten hooked. my first episode then was death or glory, spinners ball cancer episode. from then i was hooked. cant wait til next month when the movie and season ten premiere! woot woot!

I’m pretty sure that mine was Wannabe back in the fall of 2001. I remembered all of the girls (I went to an all girl highschool) talking about Degrassi, and I had yet to catch an episode. I finally got a chance when my family went up to my cottage for a weekend, where CTV and CBC (CTV is the Canadian answer to ABC, while CBC is more a mix of CBS/NBC/ABC/PBS in terms of programming layout, in addition to airing many of its own original series) are the only two channels we got. I wasn’t blown away, but I thought, “Eh, I kind of like this.” Now at almost 24 years old, and way out of Degrassi’s target audience, I’m quite the DTNG junkie! It’s one of the few shows I watch religiously. I’ve been tuning in to Degrassi more faithfully this season than to Criminal Minds!

My first episode was, “Fight The Power.” I was watching 90210. Shenae Grimes on it. So the next day I was watching The-N. I saw a promo of her in “Fight The Power.” So I watch it, after that I went on the computer and watch all the episodes. :)

Well, first I saw the short, “The Curse of Degrassi” at my friend’s house while it was on TV because everyone was telling me I had to watch Degrassi and it just happened to be on. Then I remember turning on the TV at home and “Broken Wings” (Season 7) was on. That was my first ep. The nice ending and my curiosity drove me to watch more. Then I saw some Season 8 episodes then I remember watching “Danger Zone.” But yeah. I came in just months ago.

My first episode was Accidents Will Happen, the one when Manny gets pregnant. I was in like 7th grade and facinated with teen pregnancy. So then I was hooked and proceeded to watch every episode they had made so far, which luckily my friend had all of them on DVD.

my first episode was “Whisper to a Scream” . I remember I tuned in on a Saturday cuz nothing else was on, and Ellie’s look was awesome so I kept watching. I thought it was a movie but then they showed a commercial of the next episode and I watched like 3 hours of it. I looked it up and saw that season 7 was about to premiere, so 2 days later I went out and bought seasons 3 and 4. Now I own all seasons, including degrassi junior high and high. :)

I may add it once I get closer to the 1 million hit mark later this year (as sort of like a countdown), but putting blog stats out there for the entire world to see all the time is kinda weird to me. Oh and as far as the archives? I started the blog in June 2008, did several posts over the course of June, July and August (the site didnt even have a name back then) and then basically gave up on updating the blog for an entire year…I think I just got bored with it. So i really didn’t take updating the blog seriously until June 2009.

The first episode I ever saw was Secret where Emma get’s gonnerhea from Jay. It was a little over 2 years ago and I was 14 I think? At first I thought Emma was such a slut for doing that (because I didn’t know what her character was really like) but once I started watching it I realized how wrong I was and that she really wasn’t a slut – just messed up from the school shooting. Then the 2nd episode I watched was Venus where Peter videotapes Manny topless. After that I got hooked and watched every single episode online. And now I’m hooked and know everything there is to know about Degrassi(: I miss the older seasons and all the original characters though. It’s just not the same :( But Degrassi will always be my favorite show no matter what <3

I watched the original Degrassi (JH and H) as re-runs in about 99/00/01. I then heard about a new Degrassi, the Next Generation, and came across it being played on the ABC (Australia). The show was never very popular here, and seasons 1-3 were the only ones ever aired. I watched them all over the last few years, starting, if I recall correctly, Mother and Child Reunion, but I always wanted more. Then in 2008, I decided to buy all the DVDs from Amazon, as I had never seen seasons 4-6 (on DVD at the time). Now I have my sister and two friends hooked, purely from my DVDs. I haven’t seen any of season nine yet, but I’ll be watching it with my friends as soon as it arrives on my doorstep :)

My first episode was “Cabaret”–the one about Terri and Ashley in the talent show. I guess that was either 2001 or 2002? I started watching Degrassi regularly then, even though I was only 9 or 10. We didn’t have the channel for awhile though, I seem to remember, so I watched it at my Grandma’s.
I remember watching “Mother and Child Reunion” after I’d seen most of season 1, and thought I’d just missed the first episode. I had no idea that they had aired them out of order.

“Lost in Love” wasn’t actually Valentine’s day; it took place in October. It was “Sweetheart Week”, and yes, i know that was stupid. they really just needed an excuse for a Valentine’s-type episode.

I watched the premiere episode when it aired – mostly because I had grown up watching the original Degrassi series reruns after school (and it was dated even as I watched them) and was curious to see the evolution of the characters…Emma was a big part of the original series so it was cool to see her grow up, although I still question whether Miriam McDonald was the right casting choice on several levels. I watched the series all the way through until S6 when it sort of vanished from a regularly scheduled time on CTV, but after watching Degrassi goes Hollywood last summer I caught up on Seasons 7 & 8 just as S9 started…and I still love this show, so much so that I bought all of the old seasons to rewatch at some point.

Nah I mean a technical goof by the show’s actual production crew…aka Craig being seen in the crowd of the club when Manny and Emma first get there, then them cutting to a scene of Craig sitting at home.

I still think it’s so much more credible that Craig is in two places at once then Spinner studying on a Friday night. C’mon, there was a freakin’ rave going on. No way he is missing that to study math.

Mine was the episode where Craig, Angela, and Joey stop Caitlyn Ryan from getting on the plane to take a job, and she decides to start a family with them. :)

The first one I ever saw was Voices Carry part 1 and 2, the one with Craig and Ashley. Craig and Ashley have sex for the first time and he proposes to her, she says no, and he goes delirious. They play Degrassi on MTV sometimes, and I woke up one morning and it was on MTV, the channel I was watching the night before. I didn’t know what it was, but kept watching. After that I was HOOKED and started watching it on The N (now TeenNick obviously). Since then I’ve seen pretty much every episode and have been addicted. I keep up with it all the time and it’s my all time favorite show.

I’m late, but I really wanted to share. I love discussing my first Degrassi experience, I was so intrigued, so glued, so awe-struck I’d never come across a show that got me so much. Just relateable…
I was actually trying to find the show for months, they would show promos on Nickelodeon, but I didn’t know about the “N” at that time, so I’m raking my brain, where the heck is it? I finally come across it and not even know that was the show I’d beeeen looking for. It was the one when Ashley’s Dad is getting married, she finds out he is gay. I was hooked, I couldn’t find the N for another two months and finally caught on. Discovering Degrassi literally changed my life. It’s the only reason I watch television any more :)

my first episode was when i was in middle school i think, the one when paige got raped by dean i think ah that was such a good/sad episode, after that i was hooked! and have been watching it ever since! =D im still hoping sean comes back and marrys emma hahaha wishful thinking i know but their love story was and still is my favorite! =D

The first episode I remember seeing was the premiere of Degrassi Junior High. They showed it to us in our middle school guidance class. Oh, Stephanie Kaye. However, apparently my dad used to watch it with me when I was a baby, so who knows which ep it really was. ;)
And I started the new show from the beginning, as far as I can remember. NO WAIT, sorry, the first episode of the new show I saw was… Eye of the Beholder? The one where Paige is jealous that Spinner likes Terri, so she gets her drunk before the dance. I like how THAT was the beginning of Paige and Spinner’s long and illustrious relationship.

oh man its been soooo long………………..
lets see i started watching degrassi when my cousin was in middle school, so i was in elementary probably like around third or fourth grade. I was really mature for my age haha.
well anyway i think the first episode i ever watch was i think shout. oh growing up watching Degrassi in a way prepared me for what could happen to me in everyday life. I am now in high school and i am still hooked. i mean the first time i watched an entire marathon was last summer. Everyday i would wake up at seven just to see every episode. I spent the first three weeks of my summer vacation on watching Degrassi and i am planning to do that this year. I still remember the schedule last year Mondays through Fridays 7 am to 2 pm and Saturdays from 4 pm through 4 am and i forgot Sundays. oh well…
sorry about rambling i just really look fondly at my memories of Degrassi, it brought me and my cousin so close, we were practically sisters…….

I watched my first episode of degrassi when I was in 1st or 2nd grade;; I liked it alot & would watch an episode every chance I got. The first actual episode I watched was when Ashley was ready to have sex with Jimmy but they ended up blowing up the condoms like balloons;; I’ve watched degrassi ever since then, I haven’t watched all the episodes but I plan on doing so someday.

Like 4 years ago I did not like Degrassi. I had never saw an episode and I just thought the promos were really gross! But one night at like 5 in the morning I could not go to sleep and the only thing on was Degrassi. So i was like what the heck I will just watch it. The episode was Take My Breath Away! After that episode I was like this is not so bad. I continued watching and I ended up LOVING it!! It became my favorite show after that!!! haha

I watched the first one when I was really young. It was the one where Ashley was worried that if she didn’t have sex with Jimmy, he would break up with her, or something like that. Lol. xD
From there I watched random episodes here and there, and then last year I watched like five episodes in a row one night, and I got hooked. xD

My first one was Standing In The Dark.
My sister told me to watch it because of Lauren (Paige), who also played Kendra in Life With Derek. My sister had a major infatuation with the careers of their cast, but she had to spend time with our paternal grandparents, and told me to watch because our grandmother tends to follow us around her house all paranoid and stuff.
So I watched, and it was on Standing In The Dark throughout some type of marathon from when they were filming season 8, I guess.
From that point on, SITD is my favorite episode, and Darcy is my favorite character.
After that, my sister and I ended up seeing Weddings, Parties, Anything, and we were hooked on that episode from the point Craig proposed.
Then I was sleeping one day, and my sister woke me up to watch Degrassi, AGAIN, and it was the episode where Spinner got Cancer.
From then, I saw those three, then got hooked after Man With Two Hearts. My friend told me to watch the show, then I saw Peter and remembered the episodes I saw prior to season 8, and I asked where Darcy, Craig, Jimmy, Ashley, etc. were, and she said they left. I was like wtf, they’re the best characters on there!
Season 10 is the only season I haven’t missed by years. xD
I got my mom addicted to it from My Body Is A Cage and forward. She’s completely into Riley’s storyline. I was watching Jane Says yesterday, and she said she prefers season ten, which, when referring to season 8, I agree, disincluding the episodes Man With Two Hearts, Heat Of The Moment, Jane Says, and Heart Of Glass. Other than those 4, she’s right it sucked in season 8. xD But yeah. SITD, WPA, and the season 8 episodes I mentioned, are my favorites.

My first episode was “Whisper to a Scream”. Was hooked from then on. I’m guessing my boyfriend’s first episode was a JH or whatever episode, because he’s been watching it a LOT longer than I have (he’s also 10 years older than I am) :)
