So a while back Jessica Tyler uploaded some pics of her with other cast members on the set…those pics were promptly removed because they revealed more than what the bigwigs wanted the public to know. Everyone’s been wonder who the new guy was in the pics…
His name is Luke Bilyk. He’ll be playing a character named Drew in Season 10.
Shannon Kook-Chun (Zane) recently posted a pic of himself, Luke, Jessica, Sam and another girl who we can assume is one of the other new Season 10 Characters:
So three of the four new faces (Luke Bilyk, Cory Lee and the unknown girl in the powersquad shirt) have been revealed. Is Shannon’s character Zane considered the fourth? I thought he *might* have been, but he’s making an appearance in Season 9. There’s also the pics below, which reveal another unknown face in the top right corner of each one:

Man, they’re adding a lot of guys! Why don’t they add some new girls into the mix? What are we left with? Jenna, Clare, Alli, Fiona, Holly J, Chante, Leia (though just barely), and Anya? They’re all totally interchangeable. Where are the season 2-3 Ellies, or season 3-4 Alexes?

I agree. They should try to balance out the characters. I would like a new “goth/rocker” type girl and a bad girl would be an awesome idea. We don’t really even have a Queen Bee anymore. Holly J is nothing close to how Paige was.
Looking back from Season 6 down, Degrassi has just gone to crap. I think the main problem is that these new actors don’t have the talent that the old actors did. Plus, they look all “Hollywood” and don’t really fit the role of regular teens.
Another issue is that it’s not going there anymore. I haven’t had any moments in the past 2 seasons that have made my mouth drop open in shock. I wish they would bring back the old writer’s. I miss slutty Manny also. =(

You’re completely right. Just think of Toby, the average looking guy. There were “real” characters, like Terri and the one girl whose name I can’t remember (She was Asian and I remember that Toby had a crush on her… I didn’t really see any of those episodes, except for one recently). They were real. I wonder if there was a change in writers.

This new character seems really interesting (drew). I wonder what his storylines will be.. Zane is not one to interest me. Im not the biggest fan of the gay episodes (nothing against gays i just tldont enjoy thos types). Im so ready to see what season 10 has in stores for us though

IT SEEMS AS IF DEGRASSI IS TRYING TO THROW IN A FEW NEW CHARACTERS EVERY SEASON TO SLOWLY GET RID OF THE ORIGINAL CAST. I HONESTLY WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF THEY SOMEHOW GOT RID OF CLARE,ALLI,OR CONNOR IN SEASON 10 THOUGH I HIGHLY DOUBT THEY WILL,JUST SAYING. I realized one of my main problems with the new cast members: They all look like Juniors or Seniors. Our beloved original cast started in grades 7 and 8, meaning that we got 5/6(7 because of the season=half year thing) years of high school to get to know them.
What’s the point of adding really old people who will leave in a season or two anyway?

Does anyone know if the stuff about season ten on degrassiwikia is true?
They give episode descriptions of the first two seasons that KIND OF make sense, but they sound like terrible episodes. Also, people are saying that Emmas is not returning. I thought the whole point of Holiday Road was that she’ll be around next season!

Watch the degrassi movie when it comes out. “The Next Generation” show was supposed to be about her though. So it would make sense to have kept her around this long. Emma has a big finale in the degrassi movie.

Well there was Marco and Alex (she was hispanic, right?). I wonder why the current cast is SO white. Although I’m guessing its because most of the people who audition are white so they don’t have much diversity to choose from.

Totally. I’ve been wanting to see a Hispanic character for a while. And a new Jewish character. I’m glad that we’re finally seeing an Asian guy on the show who isn’t conforming to the stereotype of the Asian male as nerdy and unattractive. Plus he’s gay, so bonus points for diversity!
I’d also like to see a black girl on the show who isn’t a follower like Hazel or Chante, but a more dominant, charismatic type, like a female Jimmy. Maybe this new girl (assuming she’s not just minor a guest character) will have a more significant role in the show. I can’t imagine that we’ve have two Chante types.
I live in Toronto, where the people are like Skittles (ie. a rainbow), so I say up the diversity even more, Degrassi! Go multiculturalism!

Canada has a much smaller percentage of population who are Hispanic than the United States. Not that Degrassi isn’t whiter than a school in Toronto would be, but there’s, like, less than 40,000 Canadians who consider themselves Mexican.

MORE new characters revealed on a behind the scenes of season 10 clip on MuchMusic, tonight!
There’s a new girl named Bianca with dark, curly hair. I didn’t catch the actress’ name, but it’s something Croatian or Czech, I think. Something ending in “-ic”.
Two MORE guys, too! Munro Chambers plays a kid named Eli (I THINK that he may be the mystery guy in the top right of those pictures), and Jordan Tadosey (spelling may be off) plays a kid named Adam.
Season 10 starts on MuchMusic on July 15th.

Whoops! It’s Jordan Todosey, and…she’s a girl. The new characters/actors’ names flashed by very quickly, so I didn’t get a great look, it seems. Guess the characters’ name isn’t Adam! She also has sort of a tomboyish, rougher around the edges look.

For all the person that said Degrassi is full of a bunch of pale people you must not be paying attention,thats one of the things ive always liked about Degrassi,they mix it up with ethnicities. We have Dave,Danny,Chantay,Sav,Alli,Leia,Bianca,Drew(he has some hispanic in him because his last name is Torres on the show),Connor,The new girl is black,Zane and before we had Liberty,Hazel,Jimmy,The black guy emma&liberty both dated,A few teachers,Mia(Hispanis as far as I can tell, Alex,Marco,and so on. So we have had alot of Diversity.
Oh and on another note im so excited for Drew hahaha Luke Bilyk is sooo hot<3

I love Degrassi and it’s even better now that Luke Bilyk is a new cast member he has the kutest eyes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
