On the set of Degrassi Season 10.
The Exec tweeted some news today….he tweeted stuff we already know about MuchMusic airing the rest of Season 9 (one episode per week) beginning on Monday, May 10th. But then he finally gave us info on the Degrassi Movie:

And continuing on MuchMusic: Degrassi Takes Manhattan will air on Friday July 16th, AND Season 10 will premiere daily on Monday July 19th!

So June will be a very quiet month, but it’ll be worth it for a very busy July and August. He didn’t say anything about TeenNick, but the assumption is that both networks will be on the same broadcast schedule. The first 24 episodes of Season 10 will air Mondays – Thursdays from July 19th until August 26th. I expect for them to take September off as well, then return with more Season 10 episodes in October.

wow i cant wait! and this is pretty convenient for me, personally, cause im gone at camp june-july, but it ends on the 16th! of course, then i have a 7 hour drive back home, and probably wont get home until 2 a.m. or something, but knowing teennick, they’ll be showing the movie again and again!

i will be majorly pissed off if teennick starts even a week later. cause its not like they can make up for it by coming back from hiatus sooner, like they did this time. if they start at a different time, the two channels will be parallel.

Hey Kary! According to wikipedia, it says that the tenth season of Degrassi will be aired in a soap opera format. Do you think that that is the “big surprise” the producers are talking about for next season?

Yep! The “big surprise” ended up being that Season 10 was going to be 48 episodes, with the first 24 episodes airing in that soap format

Yeah with the last 24 they’ll probably do the old format where they air like 7 or 8 episodes during Oct/November, then some in Spring 2011, etc.

I’ve thought about it, and it really depends on how/when I can watch the episodes. I don’t have TeenNick, so I’ll have to rely on watching them online. If TeenNick is timely in posting the eps online, I can do them the night they air. If not, they’ll be delayed by however long.

You could round up a few of the main posters here and have them write up reviews for ep. You know, if you trust them. Just a suggestion.

Are you going to make a big review about the Soap Opera format at the end of the first 24 episodes or are you going to include the format within each episode itself? (Cause the format might works for some plots, but not for others)

Oh crap, good point I should’ve thought about that before replying to Michael. I’ll probably do a review for each individual episode, then do a weekly review at the end of every week, then do an overall review at the end.

What do they mean by “soap opera” format?

it means that there will be a new episode every day Monday – Thursday every week.

If they plan on doing Degrassi like most Soap Operas then it will probably be like this:
1) Usually has 5 or more storylines going at the same time
2) Some of the storylines connect to each other somehow
3) Storylines can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to be finished/resolved(So none of the storylines should start and finish all in one episode)
4) Many episodes end with a cliffhanger(Hope you like suspense)
5) There are usually never any filler episodes(So they all lead to something)

1) That’s not true. Depending on which soap opera you watch it may just be 3.
2) This is true but it’s not just true for soap operas it’s true for any drama.
3) Very true for some storylines not all. It’s usually not so bad if interesting things happen in-between like blackmail and stuff.
4) True but it’s usually just at the end of the week to get you hyped for the next episode on Monday. I don’t see this as a bad thing unless you’re extremely impatient.
5) Thankfully. Fillers tend to get on my nerves. Especially since they end with something that could’ve been done earlier in the episode.

i dont think they mean that the SHOW will actually be like a soap opera. its just that new episodes will come out like they would if it was a soap opera. i think we can expect that degrassi wont really change in terms of its content.

This Sunday’s May 9th, though. Sundays were CTV’s Degrassi night, and then the episode would air on MuchMusic the next night. So I think that it’ll be returning to Canada on Monday the 10th. Unless Much has moved Degrassi to Sundays?

I just checked and it’s not up yep. Last week the Innocent When You Dream Promo and the Start Me Up episode weren’t up until around 5pm et on Friday so we can probably expect the same thing for this week. So the bad news is that the In Your Eyes Promo isn’t up yep, but the good news is that we might get to watch the Innocent When You Dream episode 4hours early.

@KaylynnCheerGirl, I just go from the last episodes webpage and keep on going upwards. Sometimes they are close apart and sometimes they are far apart. It usually takes me about ten minutes to find the new promos/minis/episodes. But I have a lot of time on my hands so it really doesn’t bother me.

ok, im just gonna say it. i dont care whether or not the episode was ever done well, it is suddenly ONE OF MY FAVORITE EPISODES EVER. just cause i laughed so incredibly hard so many times. and because i went through an obsession with twilight a few years ago (dont worry, im WAY over it). and because my best friend is sort of a fanfic celebrity.

and the in your eyes promo . . . i gotta say, i’ve never really had much of an opinion on riley, he just didnt interest me. but now, im suddenly really excited for this episode, and i find myself actually caring about riley. maybe because anya’s involved, even if only in the smallest of ways, and im really glad to be seeing her, since we had gone for over a third of the season without really seeing her at all.

They will probably make a reason up. Like Riley tells Anya that he’s gay and about why they were fighting or Anya somehow knows Zane and he tells her that he likes Riley.
