I don’t even know anything anymore. Even though Shanks said it I was initially skeptical of the whole 48 episodes thing because the average episodes person season in any US or Canadian TV show (I’ll even throw in the UK too) is 20-25 episodes.

Now the episodes taking place over a full year I need to clarify. Degrassi Nation broke the news on the Shanks interview, then tweeted:

So last night DN confirmed 48 episodes for s10 but we have just learned they will all be 1/2 hr episodes over 1 yr no stops

What DN is saying is they’re basically going to AIR all of the episodes every week until they run out…I don’t necessarily think that’s the case (because that’s not how tv works, unfortunately). I think what The Exec meant is all will the episodes will take place over the course of one SCHOOL YEAR.
Now my line of thinking on that is based on CTV and what they might do schedule-wise. TeenNick?? If they have the opportunity to air a new episode every week, I’d definitely be on board for that since it would eliminate all of their ridiculously awkward breaks.
Oh yeah, filming for Season 10 begins on March 29th.

And in one final note…there was a recent article about the Top 25 TV twosomes of all time. Spike and Snake made the list!!!!
I’m sorry, but they don’t deserve to be there. The list is in chronological order from the Lucy and Ricky days until now. The author of the article blatantly says he put them on the list because he guest starred as the priest that married them in the TNG episode White Wedding. However, he lists them under their days on the original Degrassi Junior High/Degrassi High. Well apparently he never watched the original, because they were never a couple during the show, and never came close. There was ONE episode at the very end of the final season where Spike liked Snake and they were supposed to go to a dance together, but Spike backed out when she realized Snake liked another girl (she didnt want to be a pity date).
That was the only reference to them in the original, ever. All of their relationship stuff happened in Degrassi: TNG, and even then it’s not even close to being memorable enough to be placed on this list. It’s actually a slap in the face to the most prominent couple in Degrassi history: Joey and Caitlin.

Well if they are doing 48, at least they will give everybody plot. So we might see something from blue, leia, and who ever else didnt get any spot light this season.

I don’t believe it’ll be a new degrassi episode every week, but that’s just me. On TeenNick it’d be awesome since they have nothing besides Degrassi for their primetime slot. But you have to take into account in general the 2 part episodes that’ll automatically air as “hour specials.” Now CTV? I imagine they’ll stick with the 2 episodes per week schedule, but who knows.

Alright, so you’re saying that the SOME of the new changes are:
a) The episodes will be Half-Hour Episodes
b) They’ll go back to doing a full SCHOOl year

I’m excited that they are going back to a full school year, they really only did that semester thing so they could transition the new cast a little more smoothly, but 48 episodes? Really? I mean, I love Degrassi, but 48 episodes a season seem pretty ridiculous.

I’m very excited for the 48 episodes. Hopefully this means they’ll FINALLY do something w/ wasted characters(Leia, Blue, Connor, etc.)
I personally love the Joey/Caitlin couple in D:TNG, BUT recently (over christmas break) I watched DJH and DH and throughout the series I just felt “meh” about them and after watch “School’s Out” I can no longer stand them. He was horrible to her…

Wow I feel stupid, but it just hit me.
Season 6&7-43 episodes=1 year
Season 8&9-45 episodes=1 year
Season 10-48 episodes=1 year
So there being 48 episodes actually makes sense. They wont be making the time gap and larger, and we get the same amount of time for the school year.

I dont see it happening every week either because they would eventually have to take a hiatus, all shows do. Hopefully we get some more information about the whole 48 episode thing.
But your right about teen nick, they have no other show going for them besides degrassi. I think the assistants and the best years were cancelled? idk for sure.

i think this 48 episodes/full school year thing makes perfect sense. its like, instead of making seasons 10 and 11 half year each with about 24 episodes each,they’re lumping the next two seasons together for one mega-season so that the degrassi universe doesn’t get farther behind the real world in time.

I guessing that TeenNick will start airing Season 10 at the end of the summer, then take a break for Christmas, then start back up at the end of January or beginning of February, and then continue until summer 2011 when the next movie comes out. I hope that they keep the full-year thing going and have about 48 episodes for all the seasons to come.
As we all know this is part of the “big news” that Stephen Stohn was talking about, but I wonder if there is any other “big news” about season 10 that Stohn has been keeping a secret!?!

Ok religion aside, Alli is NOTHING like Hazel. Besides having money, Jimmy is nothing like Dec/Fiona. And Jane IS original. Ashley went from prep>goth>prep … Jane is punk to a bit more girlier, she still wears her nose ring. We really cant judge Jenna yet, cuz we really dont know her. Yes she stole KC away, but doesnt mean shes like manny. I think Jenna is original, just a perky blonde.

Sorry. I was Wrapped up in the D&R marathon. And what new promo? They didn’t show the coach’s gun. The best years was canceled, as was about a girl and beyond the break. But i love(sarcasm) how they all ended with cliffhangers(the best years’ending COULD classify as wrapped up, although we never know if he comes back. In the final episode of about a girl, jason asks amy out. We never found out if they became official. Btb ended with Lacey saying this isn’t over. we never know if they found out the truth, or how she got her revenge.)anyway, its dumb that they never actually say on air this show has been canceled. So when they say, on the season finale dot dot dot and it never comes back, all you can say is: WTF?!!!

The Assistants has been renewed for a 2nd season. Production hasn’t started yet, but it’ll probably air this summer, and word is that one of the characters will get the cut. And their’s a new Teennick show premiering in either Spring or Summer 2010. It’s called Gigantic, and it takes a fictional lool at the lives of the modern children of celebrities. Gee. That’ll be fun. (More sarcasm.)
