Untitled-5

DREW/BECKY PLOT RECAPBecky’s still upset about her brother, so Drew tries to cheer her up by inviting her to the dance.  But when a storm hits the city and the dance is canceled, Becky is nowhere to be found.  Drew spends the evening searching for her, and eventually finds her in the boiler room.  The two wind up getting locked in the room, which is leaking gas.  Thinking they might not get out, the two kiss before they’re saved by Imogen, Jack and Dallas.  The next day, Becky tells Drew they should forget the kiss, but he doesn’t want to.  He tells her they should take things slowly, and she agrees.

133940-4The simple idea of Drew and Becky together isn’t all that bad after watching the episode.  As expected, Becky’s feeling vulnerable and looking for some kind of support from anyone right now because her home life is still awful.

One thing that’s unsettling though is how the show attempts to paint Drew and Becky as being “tight,” as Drew describes it, despite showing us very little interaction between them outside of a handful of scenes in Believe.  Drew finds Becky in the greenhouse in Thunderstruck and says, “I know where you go when you’re upset.”  Since when?

I like how the characters address the reasons Drew and Becky shouldn’t feel things for one another (aka Adam).  However, too many contrivances in the plot stick out like a sore thumb.  Dallas and Alli go from being against Drew having feelings for Becky, to Dallas randomly guilt tripping Drew about putting girls in danger, to Bhandallas basically saying “Whatever, do what you want” at the end of the episode.  If the goal was to wind up with Drew and Becky laying the foundation for a romantic relationship, it wasn’t necessary to jump through the hoops of having them conveniently trapped in a dangerous situation, only to be conveniently saved while locking lips.

Becky might be Drew’s last chance at righting this dating ship Drew’s been sinking the entire season.  “We should take this very, very slowly,” Drew says, giving me hope that he’s finally learning something, and Becky could be the kind of girl that keeps him in his place.  But of course it can’t possibly be that easy with Drew involved.

MAYA/ZOE PLOT RECAPZig is in a bind when he finds himself agreeing to go to the dance with both Maya and Zoë.  He invites Zoë over to Maya’s beforehand, and she begrudgingly agrees to hang out with them.  Zig brings alcohol as an icebreaker, and Maya gets a little too drunk.  She goes off on Zoë, blaming her for ruining things with Miles and getting her sent to the rubber room.  Maya drunkenly decides to walk to the dance despite the storm, and Zoë chases after her.  The storm is too powerful, and Zoë forces Maya to take shelter at The Dot.  Zoë tells Maya she’s trying to work things out with her, and the two admit they’ve been jealous of each other all year.  For the first time, Zoë and Maya are truly able to bury the hatchet.

133940-1I think this has to be my favorite plot of the episode, because I’m a sucker for characters finally doing this crazy thing where they actually talk to each other.  Maya’s been pretty awesome as a character lately, but she still harbors a lot of bitterness toward Zoë.  “You’re the reason I spent the entire year in the rubber room, and you keep stealing all my people,” a drunken Maya says to Zoë.  “Miles, Tristan and now Zig…get your own people.”

To be fair they’ve both been petty and vindictive toward one another in season 13, but this is the first time they’ve actually stopped to listen to each other.  Maya’s an angry drunk, but it becomes amusing once she and Zoë are out in the storm.  She delivers some funny one liners, such as threatening to come back to haunt Zoë if she dies, before the two find shelter and get to the heart of things.  It’s been obvious since the beginning, but these are two girls who’ve simply been jealous of one another.

I especially love Zoë’s vulnerability.  “I’ve never been good at girlfriends,” she says.  “I’m always jealous of them.”  We’ve seen that many times, even recently when she was jealous of Frankie’s modeling potential.  “It’d be nice to be on the same team for once,” she says to Maya.  Yes, it would be.  Degrassi’s always had prominent a female friendship, and these two are in line to become the next one.

133940-a

MILES/TRISTAN PLOT RECAPMiles refuses to go to the dance because Maya will be there, so he invites Tristan over to his house to hang out.  Frankie and Winston are there too, and the four play charades.  At one point Tristan finds out that Yates touched Winston, and Tristan admits he had a relationship with Yates.  Miles scoffs at the idea that Tristan and Yates had a “connection,” and Tristan walks off.  Miles apologizes and the two share a bonding moment in the rain.  As the four play the game “Murder,” Miles finds Tristan’s hiding spot.  The two flirt and end up kissing until they’re caught by Winston.  The next day, Miles tells Tristan that he’s confused, but in a good way.

133940-2“If I’ve learned anything this year it’s that no one will ever truly love you.”

Miles saying that to Tristan pretty much defines this plot.  Tristan thought those words were aimed at him; Miles was actually talking about himself.  In reality, it describes them both.  These are two characters who’ve been going down separate paths in season 13.  Tristan is desperate for love, and thinks his chance at it was ripped away when things went awry with Yates.  His illusion of how wonderful Yates was is shattered when Winston delivers the shocking revelation that Yates groped him.

Meanwhile, Miles has family issues.  He also has a way of scaring people away with his behavior.  “You’re a God among men, you get every girl you want,” Tristan says.  Miles responds by saying, “Until they get to know me, and they run for the hills.”

Tristan and Miles have kissed before, so it’s not really new territory.  But what makes things different now is knowing why Miles is comfortable with it.  When Tristan kissed him in Paris, Miles played it off far more calmly than one would expect.  In Thunderstruck, he wanted it because “It felt right.”

Miles is kind of a self destructive character, who at the same time is looking for the comfort that he doesn’t receive at home.  “I just know that I feel good when I’m around you,” he says to Tristan.  I view this as a unique situation for Degrassi to explore in the future, as these two could work out just as easily as they could implode.

*********

CLARE/ELI PLOT RECAPClare travels to New York for an interview at Columbia, but winds up in the hospital after running into a pole.  She misses her interview, but is given a second chance…the next day.  Until then, she has to stay overnight at Eli’s dorm.  It’s awkward, but Clare and Eli survive through the night.  Clare aces her interview, and Eli confesses that he’s not over her.  When Clare returns to Degrassi, she receives a phone call from the hospital in NYC claiming she’s pregnant.

133940-3Eclare has been hit or miss since the long distance relationship plot began, but I enjoyed what I saw here.  See what happens when Eli comes off being an actual character and not a plot device?  This awkward situation they’re in just flows naturally.  I can appreciate the maturity these two show toward one another, especially given their last meeting.  Clare apologizes for breaking up with him by phone and he’s almost grateful for it.  “You know in a weird way you set me free,” Eli says.  “You let me experience New York life, normal school life, all of that.”

And of course Eli still isn’t over her.  It’s pretty straightforward:  if Clare successfully graduates and makes it to Columbia, it’s endgame for these two.  However, Degrassi’s decided to drop a pregnancy bomb in Clare’s lap.  Why is that?

I don’t feel like I’ve wrapped my brain around it yet.  In terms of cliffhanger, it’s a pretty big one.  It’s difficult to gauge my feelings on Clare being pregnant when the Degrassian in me’s initial thought is we’ll never see her carry the baby to full term…if there’s one at all.

  2. Im tired of Eclare. I think they should have let Munro go. I love Munro as an actor but i feel there are holding on to him for the wrong reasons and that is for the favoritism with Stohn this is why fans are angry. Clare needs to figure out who the heck she is thats all I got. Shes too dependent on men. After watching that webisode Eli needs a new therapist. He needs to learn to let go it was pretty damn sad. Triles I love….. I think Drecky is just bad timing and how does Drew some how have feelings for Clare 2EP’s ago now has feelings for Clare. To me it seems Drew & Clare both have dependency issues.. If Eclare do get back together in the finale this is my last season. This means Clare has not learned a damn thing. And I have a feeling she lies to Eli about sleeping with Drew. No hate.

    *SPOILER ALERT*
There are three things that totally blew my mind this episode:
    1. Miles and Tristan actually kissing! I thought it wasn’t gonna happen since they didn’t kiss when they were outside in the rain, but when it did…#dead
    2. Becky and Drew actually becoming a couple. I had a feeling it would happen but I didn’t think it would ACTUALLY happen. So many people are gonna hate that ship haha
    3. CLAIRE IS PREGNANT. There’s nothing else to say here.
I can’t wait for your review Kary! I can’t wait for Season 14 either!

  7. This has got to be the stupid, most unrealistic thing I’ve heard. You can not get pregnant (that quick) nor it is recommend to get pregnant after radiation and/or chemotherapy. Clare being pregnant is a reach, even for Degrassi. Come on now. My mother specializes in fertility after cancer, and the ovaries are shot to hell after cancer treatment. This is ridiculous!

    1. You’re right, which leads me to believe 1) Clare could have a miscarriage as an after effect of the her cancer treatment or 2) she might not be pregnant at all. This is degrassi and they don’t fact check. The hormone they check in urine for pregnancy can be elevated and cause false positives in certain types of cancers. Remember how she had a weird mole? Well that’s not consistent with sarcoma, so maybe her cancer has spread or is back and it causes the false positive (which really would not happen with a sarcoma, the false positive).
But then again degrassi loves out the the blue, out of the world, not even in an alternate universe drama, see drew and every interaction basically.

But her treadment was not invasive as women who have gone through breast cancer & cancers of the reproductive system. It also has to do with age.. Just do some research.. Got some great articles out there. BTW if something was wrong with her blood work the doctors would have told her.

I love love loveeee Triles!. I’m so glad that Tristan finally has someone although when Winston confronted Miles about his habit of hurting people I got sad because I went like “there goes a brick in the wall”. I’m hoping that they do end up together-not just because they need to be with someone but because they make a really interesting couple. I am so crossing my fingers that it works out between the two. They’re so cute together and so hopefully Miles is able to work out his issues.

And OMG I can’t believe that Clare’s pregnant!!!! How are Drew, Eli and Becky and not to mention everyone else is supposed to react to this! Biggest cliffhanger for a season finale ever! I guess we shall wait and see what happens next…

  9. This is full of spoilers so cover your eyes if you haven’t seen the episode!

Maya/Zoe: I thought we would see more Zig, but I guess not. There are so many broken friendships among the younger students that it’s a positive that Maya and Zoe were able to patch that up.

Eclare: First off, I’m not for, nor am I against Eclare. So I’m not immediately jumping for joy or screaming at the tv. However, I don’t really care to talk about them lol. All I have to say is they both seemed like they were in a good place, and if it isn’t long distance, I don’t see why not.

Miles/Tristan: Miles says he’s “confused”. Sure, that could be what it is. I just think he’s heartbroken he lost Maya, and him and Winston aren’t really the best of friends right now, and he feels alone. Tristan was easy to latch onto. Miles has dealt with a lot from his family, his relationships, and now kind of losing a friend to his sister. So I feel he just wants to make sure he holds onto whatever comes along… and Tristan came along lol.

Drew/Becky: From the start, this seemed very forced to me. Degrassi writers, just because you put it in the script, doesn’t mean we’re going to believe it’s true. The things Drew was saying to/about Becky were of things we haven’t seen, and it felt like they were trying to get us to buy into Drecky as a ‘thing’ early on in the episode. I mean c’mon “Me and Becky are tight”, and “I know where you go when you’re upset”? Where did that even come from?

Also “Believe” apparently spanned a few weeks, because Becky says to Drew that he had been so nice the past couple of weeks? Before this Becky was spending a lot of time with Imogen, and Hunter (online) before that, so it felt even more contrived to me when we have only really seen Becky and Drew together for a significant amount of time when they were lost in Believe, part 1. The last nail in the coffin for me was Dallas’s endorsement by telling Drew “life is short”. Yes, and that is the unfortunate reason Adam isn’t still with Becky right now lol.

The shocking Clare news at the end really caught me off guard. It was one of the few times I could remember in recent history being legitimate shocked by Degrassi. I’m going to assume it’s Drew’s. And this brings me to my last point which I couldn’t help but realize by episode’s end… Drew is an asshole! I think the days where we give him the benefit of the doubt and write his behavior off as “young and dumb” are over. He’s a mess.

The whole Clare/Eli drama has run its course for me. In real life, Eli would be all over his roomy at NYU. I mean, it’s all nice to say first love and all that, but being away from home for the first time, the way Clare dumped him, well, Eli should have filed that crap away for good. I understand the sympathy that goes along with her cancer, but after that, he should have been gone. Just my thoughts….

1.will she keep the baby or abortion

    4.how will drew react

  11. Everything about tonight was just “no” . Heck at the rate it was going with everyone randomly being paired together I thought Maya and Zoe were going to just find out they’re lesbian and start making out.

On a serious note, Becky and Drew, just no. So much no. I could see where it’s coming from but Drew just REALLY needs to not be involved with girls right now. At this point, I’m not even interested when he’s in a relationship and have only been when it was with Bianca. I’ll just leave that there as we all know it’s not going to work out.

Miles I think just is doing it for attention purposes. For all we know he very well could be bisexual but I doubt he has legit feelings for Tristan, that’s just what I feel. Like Winston says he’s gonna hurt someone in this equation. Not on purpose, but it’ll happen.

This episode did a good job with the throwbacks. Season 13 was pretty long in my opinion (almost a year?) so it was helpful that they brought up stuff from last summer such as the fact Zoe had Miles first, and Tristan running away yet again and his crush etc.

LOL Frankie and Winston today were entertaining at least.

Hm, Why is Eli still here again? They really should just keep him to those webisodes, those are interesting. I’d tolerate if after graduation Clare joins the webisode cast, just to see their interactions between themselves and Lenore and [other roomate I forgot name of] I don’t agree with them potentially getting back together.

AND WHY DOES CLARE ALWAYS GET THAT LAST MINUTE BOMBSHELL?! Last season it was cancer, this season a pregnancy?! And knowing Degrassi they’re gonna milk this storyline for as long as they can. Baby Momma Drama, who’s the daddy [We know it’s totally Drew tho :p truth’s gonna come out Clare, sorry honey ]

Severely dissapointed with the way the show is going in terms of promos and openings. I didn’t like Season 14’s opening severely reducing the song and not showing off every character like they did before, I loved that. And can we compare season 10, season 11, heck maybe even season 12’s promo to season 13 and can we even call season 14’s a promo? They’ve gotten worse as time passes :/ Oh well , time to wait again… :]

    SPOILERS!!!!!

I thought it was a great idea for Degrassi to make Clare pregnant, but I am so mad about it!!! It’s such a good idea to add great drama, but I hate it because it will ruin Eclare. Eclare is about to get together again, and this will ruin everything! Also Drecky will probably not work out because of this pregnancy, but I don’t care because I don’t like this whole Drew and Becky thing. They acted in this episode like they’ve spent so much time together recently, but all the only time they were together was the one night in the woods! That was it! This Drecky thing is too forced and too soon. Drew went straight from Bianca to Zoe to Clare to Becky. He needs to slow down!

I’m glad Zoe and Maya made up. Their feud has pissed me off so much, and even though they are two very different people, I think they would be good friends. I wish we got to see more Zig because it looks like Zig and Zoe will become a thing. I’m not sure whether I like that or not. But I know I only want Maya with Miles right now.

I am so pissed about Triles. Miles said in just the last episode that he still loved Maya and never stopped! He better only be doing this because he’s upset about Maya and does’t know what to do. And jesus, Tristan is so desperate! Any guy who gives him the least bit of attention at all, Tristan will go after and think they are a couple! Even if the guy is straight! And he just thought he was in love with someone and is already moving on! Ugh. I do not want Triles to be a thing.

I thought Frankston was cute in this episode. When Frankie got scared and put her hand on Winston’s knee, he made such a cute face, and he was so happy. That was adorable. And Winston is right about Miles. Miles will end up hurting someone.

Alli and Dallas were also cute, even though they barely had a part in the episode. Same with Imogen and Jack.

If Clare were to keep the baby she would be 7 months at graduation day by calculations. So either we are gonna follow her for a while after graduation OR this baby was not intended to survive. Which indicates either she will miscarry or have an abortion. Personally I am hoping for miscarry because abortion would be against her beliefs.

  17. I think the hidden gem and highlight of the episode was proper application of quirky Imogen scenes. Which helped even out the Drew/Becky plot a bit.

Also, Kary, you did forget they had been throwing little scenes of Drew and Becky in on and off for the season, but it was always set-up as a more plot convenience interaction than it was a friendship building set-up (Becky’s worries over Imogen + girlfriends, Unbelievable, and a few other ones here or there). If they were setting up a Drew secret Romance endgame (while Clew was center stage) they could have done more Drew+Becky scenes during his other romance plots (Zoe plot and Clare plot). I think the problem is, really… it’s another Drew Romance plot, which is kinda in line with another Maya Romance plot that it’s been done and done and done.

The only advantage is Becky won’t sleep with Drew, which really has been the death sentence for every other Drew Romance plot especially this season..

I’m pretty sure the baby is Drew’s, because the bloodwork was taken when Clare passed out before she even stayed with Eli. So unless they hooked up sometime we don’t know about or Clare got more bloodwork done, there’s no way it’s Eli’s.

Ok, so just a few thoughts about last night:

    1) While a lot of people don’t like them having Claire be pregnant, I can actually see this making things really interesting. With her being Drew’s veep, could be a lot of drama there if it is his. If it were Eli’s, that could also be interesting, but it’s more likely not. Just wonder what will happen with her and Eli either way. I wasn’t a fan of them for a while, but this episode reminded me why a lot of people ship them…their on-screen chemistry is amazing. Also, I think her decision will show which way she has gone with her beliefs, since it hasn’t really been talked about much lately. One thing I am surprised with is that they never shown much interaction between her and Becky…then too Degrassi doesn’t seem to be too big on focusing on religion, which leads me to the next thing…

    2) I had to watch the episode a second time to see what Becky said in the boiler room, since I thought she might have said she wasn’t a Christian anymore; but she said she wasn’t sure anymore about her beliefs. Why did they have to do that? I would love to see her struggle with, and overcome her doubts and stay a Christian, since not all high schoolers ditch their faith. As far as her and Drew, I kinda actually like it, in spite of the past. I think she could definitely help even him out, and maybe he could help her through all that’s going on in her life…although I wish they wouldn’t have used the boiler room…too cliche in the Degrassi world.

    3) Maya/Zig/Zoe…I think this could actually go somewhere Degrassi hasn’t gone in a while, if ever…a threesome. It sounds wrong, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

    4) Winston/Frankie & Miles/Tristan…not too much really, except I would rather see Tristan get rid of the blonde hair…stupid but annoying really.

    5) I think it’s time they do away with that greenhouse…between Cam, the storm and the scare with Becky…

Overall this was a great season as usual, even if the first part was rough (don’t they all usually balance out in the end?) As far as next season, I really don’t know what to expect, but a few things I would love to see are: Becky reassuring herself with her faith, a couple surprise cameos by past people, such as Darcy and KC at graduation, Claire getting support from Jenna and maybe Darcy, and maybe one or two storylines that cover something super major that call for a special afterwards. The way they handled Cam’s suicide, that was the best episode in the last few years, heck maybe in all Degrassi. If they weren’t to get rid of the green house, maybe they could do a webisode similar to the one for the one year after JT died.

  23. Drew/Becky is absolutely awful, but they’re still better than Clew. They’re also better than Toby/Liberty and I’m surprised that nobody has compared the two yet.

They really should have incorporated Mr. Yates touching Chewy into a B or C-plot.

I’m glad that they might potentially have a male bisexual character this time around.

    And finally…

Clare is the absolute WORST character to impregnate (assuming she actually is pregnant). She’s already one of the screenhogs (and so is the likely father) and this will only make things worse. She’s annoyingly melodramatic when she’s NOT pregnant and the hormones will only make things worse (and of course the writers will portray Clare as a victim when she snaps at someone instead of demonizing her like they did a certain other pregnant character). It would have made so much more sense to have her relapse instead. None of the other characters with cancer have ever relapsed, so at least that would have brought something new to the table instead of another tired pregnancy and love triangle.

When the writers constantly pile a ton of drama on the same characters, it becomes much harder for me to sympathize with them. Enough is enough. I just don’t have it in me to feel sorry for Clare or Drew anymore.

  24. I forgot to add that I predict that Clare will miscarry if she is pregnant and I think that I know exactly which cliché way they’re going to do it:

Eli and Drew get into a fight and while Clare is pleading for them to stop, she suddenly goes quiet and looks down and notices a pool of blood spreading beneath her. I will actually be surprised if they didn’t do this. It’d the most cliché thing ever and Clare is a fountain of clichés.

  25. Seems to me that a lot of people are forgetting that before clew hooked up eclare was still very much alive so the chance of an eclare baby is as big as the chance of a clew(ew) baby
It doesn’t even matter who the father is ; it gives the same size of drama.
Now when are they building a store near that school so those teens can finally get some good condoms?! Bc i have ENOUGH of all these pregnancy stories!!

I feel like most tv shows resort in the character keeping the baby but it would be nice to see a different version

Seeing the eclaremoments in this seasonfinale made me smile ; i still love the chemistry between aislinn and munro!!

  27. When Alli thought she was pregnant in season 12 remember it was Clare that went with her to the clinic and explained she had options. She held up pamphlets which included abortion. It doesn’t seem so far fetched to me that she would think logically and choose to terminate especially if it isn’t recommended she have the baby after chemotherapy. Abortion is a hot topic issue but its also a woman’s right and it would be nice for a show to depict it in a rational and safe way.

  28. I just think the entire Clare being pregnant plot is just too much. A great plotline for any character – just not her. Clare has been through a lot already, and she’s a total episode hog. Plus, she hasn’t even been cancer-free for a year yet!! I’m not saying she’s sterile, but it’s hard sometimes to get pregnant after undergoing chemotherapy. Everything centers around her it seems. Sometimes I wonder if the writers really think through this before crafting an episode.

    1. Amen! As I said earlier, it gets harder and harder to feel sorry for the characters who have constant drama piled on them like that. Instead of feeling bad for them, I’m all “ANOTHER Clare/Drew/Alli/Emma/Craig/etc. story? Enough already!”

I will never understand why the writers love Clare so much. Even if she miscarries, her pregnancy storyline will still probably eat up more time than Spike’s, Manny’s, Liberty’s, Emma’s, Anya’s, Jenna’s, and Alli’s put together. I didn’t think it was possible for the writers to worship a character more than Emma Nelson, but I was wrong. Their infatuation with Clare has kind of ruined the show.

      1. The show has to technically have a main character, and clare is the main character right now. “Miley Stewart” was the center of hannah montana cuz of the obvious….but a show like Degrassi where the possibilities of people and interactions can stem almost forever because it is about a school/community, it would be too over the place if they didnt focus on one person more than the others. Emma was the main character for the longest because she was the sole reason TNG was made: following her moms pregnancy from high school and the timeline from the last degrassi junior high episode and the first season of TNG was 12years, giving you 12 year old emma who would be in junior high at degrassi. The secondary lead bounced between ashley and paige, and then paige took over for a little while to emphasize when that older group went to college. Then by the time emmas group got to college, it was hard trying to realistically keep up with them considering most people dont go to the same college as their high school friends (which as you notice in later seasons, they always try but something comes up like imogen and drew having to repeat a year), so they just focused on bringing in new students/freshman and migrating to them. Holly j followed paige, clare followed holly j and they sprinkled a bit of katie but that was ultimately so maya can be introduced for the next star of the show. Degrassi is very much a female lead show, but its unique for the fact that they do have many male lead plots which help switch things up, and it also brings a new type of storyline that ables the show continue on for years. because of the fact the show isnt in stone centered around one character and they have an easy outlet (freshman, new students) to bring in characters whenever they want without really needing a reason to why they are relevant other than they attend degrassi and are interesting. You can only truly enjoy degrassi for all of its seasons and all of its character changes if you realize who the producers decide to make the main character, and accept that instead of wondering why the have so many plots over everyone else. You watch shows like hannah montana, modern family, pretty little liars, etc that have a static range of plot possibilities that when you watch it, you already know who is/are the main character(s) so you can prejudge on if you like the show based solely on those characters in general. Never will you watch victorious and wonder why victoria justice has all the shine, but you get like that with degrassi because the main character changes while they still stay true to portraying a community at the same time. But its a blessing and a curse thing, but i think only a curse to people who are too attached to specific people at degrassi rather than the degrassi community as a whole. We’ve literally watched a school and town progress over the years, and bringing people Iike Vince (the gang leader who raped bianca, threatened drew and shot adam) to connect with the newer characters (hes now terrorizing zig) on a completely different case is very much like real life.

  29. I think Winston said it best: ‘you’re a mess dude’. I think Miles is broken. He just needs to feel loved and when winston and maya /turned/ on him he turned to tristan, a guy that made him feel good when no one else was. I think he needs therapy before being in another relationship, even though im really routing for tristan to find love too and I wouldn’t mind it being with miles seeing as they can both understand eachother when it comes to not so great home lives and wanting to be loved so badly.

Drecky is just…what? I honestly thought this episode was going to end up being a dream when drew and becky were acting like they’d been hanging out and liking eachother for awhile. This plot honestly made this episode the most unbelievable. Best line though : ‘didnt bianca almost get killed by a gang like twice?’ -Dallas. Hahahahaha

Eli and Clare…I don’t even care if they’re together or not anymore so they’re plot was just boring to me. That baby cliffhanger though…wow.

Maya Zig Zoe plot was great even though it was really minimal. I’m glad zoe and maya are becoming friends even though in real life if someone made a page about me being nude theyre would never ever be a friendship

Oddly enough, I like Miles and Tristan together. Even though I know Miles is just using him as a rebound, I would still ship them later on when they are both in a more emotionally stable place.

I’m pretty “meh” about Clare at this point, but Aislinn and Munro do have awesome chemistry…

I enjoyed Maya and Zoe’s plot.

This entire episode seemed to be like it was written by fanfiction writers, I mean Becky and Drew are really a reach. Clare and Drew just recently had sex so I honestly don’t think the baby is his.

  32. I honestly am mixed up with the whole Eli/Clare/Drew thing. A big part of me feels this could be a Clew baby, but there’s this tiny part of me that feels it possibly could be an Eclare baby. Here’s two reasons I think that. In the #3 episode of Eli: Dorm Life, Eli says “never have I ever….impregnated someone.” As soon as he said that I knew, Clare would become pregnant, Eli jinxed it. I was just waiting for it. To me it was like a spoiler alert. No one else seemed to have that suspicion, so I put it on the backburner. Sure enough, she’s pregnant. Now in the episode, Basket Case, Eli comes home to go on a bungee jumping date with Clare. It is very possible that while he was home, she could have conceived his child. Now,there are 8 episodes between Basket Case and Sparks Will Fly 2. I have no idea how much time in Degrassi days that is. Sometimes it’s days between episodes, sometimes weeks. BUT the main thing is I’m not ruling out Eli being a dad yet. Now honestly, I can see what COULD be the Clare pregnancy plot. She immediately thinks Drew is the dad, Eli tries to pursue a relationship with her, and finds she is pregnant. She could tell him she feels Drew is the dad. He becomes upset and raves about how she had sex a day after they broke up and all that drama. But eventually, the doctor tells her Drew’s not the dad. Eli is. That would kinda be a plot I’d like to see. Not one Degrassi girl has gotten pregnant and not known who the dad is.

The same thing happened with drew saying Clares a dramaqueen in season 11 ( and me thinking : YEAH, wanna bet you like her in a few seasons). degrassi kind of gives you hints about what’s going to happen in the future. I’m watching the details from now on

I really hope it is eli because well eli and Claire are amzing together so if it is eli’s baby then she could keep it but also if it is drew’s then she should not tell dew that it is his and tell eli the truth and eclair should keep the baby together because if eli still loves Claire he will do anything for her

  34. I agree with you Kary 100% about the Clare baby, the Degrassian in me too lol was like somehow this baby isnt going to happen, whether it be a “lab mix-up”, miscarriage, or abortion it doesn’t feel like its going to be like liberty or jenna’s baby storyline. I’m really interested in the Tristan/Miles storyline just because I really believe theres more to it then on the surface. I think Miles is desperate for anyone to love him(so he’s not really into Tristan but the idea Tristan represents), and Tristan is desperate for a real (non pervy teacher) boyfriend so they both want each other for the role they fulfill and not for who they actually are. I’m looking forward to next season to find out next season whether it will turn out to be a real “connection”, an interesting storyline to highlight tristan and miles insecurities, or “we didn’t know what to do with these characters so we put them together” type situation.

    1. And even if its a latter sort of situation, I think its still going to be highly interesting. No matter what, this story seems to be like its going to be great. Tristan and Miles, I feel like, have tons of chemistry in this episode so even if it doesn’t happen, that’s enjoyable. I hope it DOES turn into a real thing though. Honestly, have we had a bisexual male in this show before? I shipped them somewhat back during the summer but never seriously thought about it afterwards, but I absolutely LOVED their story. To me, even if its unbelievable, it *felt* believable to me. They’re both in such weird places but I mean, its not necessarily a bad thing, especially story-wise. Perhaps Miles will discover something about himself through this? I think this could add a lot to his character arc even more than Tristan’s.

I mean nobody on the show who was pregnant ever had one so I figure they’ll end up doing something different this time..i hope not tho..I really really want clew to happen!! I liked them together, they barely gave it a chance!..plus I like Becky but her and drew together are just ewww..idk lol they just don’t look right..anyways I really hope the writers are using this to help get clare n drew back together…let’s make clew happen finally, once n for all please!!!!

  36. I’m rooting for Clew (which is why I hated that the writers decided to put Becky and Drew together with not much of a lead-in). Like Ash above me mentioned, the writers hardly gave Clew a chance! It doesn’t make sense that they’d have all this build-up to the idea of a Clew relationship, only to chalk them up to a one-night stand. Those two have chemistry and they complement each other in ways that will help them grow. I feel like Eclare has exhausted itself – it’s the same thing over and over again with them (they go out, Eli does something to screw up their relationship, Eli is forgiven, they go out again, etc.). I’m ready for something new! Plus, Clare all of a sudden changing her mind about Eli after one night of eating kebab with him in NYC makes no sense. What about the fact that he cheated on her?

I’m really hoping Drew is the father of Clare’s child, but my guess is that the baby will not be carried to full term. Because this is going to be Clare’s last season, I’m guessing that the writers will want to end her time on Degrassi happily – with her following her academic dreams and succeeding. I’m wondering if Clare is really going to Columbia at the end of all this, though. Sure, her interview went well, but that doesn’t mean she’s getting in. Another possibility is that she gets in, but she chooses a different route.

Tristan and Miles are super cute together, but it would be interesting to see more Mr. Yates drama – and whether or not that affects their relationship. We never really got to see how the investigation with Yates panned out. Unless Maya gets a new love interest, I’m guessing next season is going to be depressing for her between her ex best-friend getting with her ex-boyfriend and Zig and Zoe probably developing into something more. It’ll be interesting to see how Maya responds to being the one who isn’t getting the guy this time. I like that we saw a more mature side of Zoe in the finale.

I wonder if Alli is going to get herself into another predicament next season. Over the years, she has gone through a lot, and it seems like she is finally in a happy place with Dallas. One wonders if this happiness will last, though. I want to know how her parents will feel about the fact that Dallas has a kid. It would seem out of character for her parents to accept this.

If K.C. ever came back, I would want to know how he’d respond to the idea of his ex-girlfriend dating his best friend.

Which belongs to drew. You can see the watch when hes holding a poster/ kissing becky earlier in the promo.

If she is indeed pregnant the more likely choice would be miscarriage because of all the cancer treatment etc and is it possible with all the treatment and stuff that it could give false pregnancy results? But say she is pregnant i would actually like to her get an abortion. it hasnt been done in a while and i would like to see how that would play out with her faith staying the same but a change in her beliefs. and what if she keeps it a secret or even only tells eli and eli goes with her to get the abortion. I don’t like the fact that shes pregnant or even that its drews but id like to see the abortion happen .And speaking of baby i wanna c jenna go visit Ty and mayb even take connor or one of the girls for support since kc aint there.

How long ago in degrassi time was the Eli encounter during the bungee jumping scene … Assuming that was the last time Clare and Eli had sex … I feel that it’s Drew mainly because … It’s understandable to maybe miss one or two periods … But being the type A like her … Wouldn’t she be taking a pregnancy test day one of first missed period?

How long ago did Drew and Clare have sex …. It could really possibly be his …

And I’m thinking Degrassi will go with the miscarriage storyline … Miscarriage is occurs more than we think … Sometimes it can be a “period” not knowing its a miscarriage.

  42. This is what I don’t get how on earth did Clare not notice that she was pregnant it’s stupid even Jenna knew when she was pregnant hell even Emma’s mom knew that she was pregnant how can she not know she should have noticed she skipped a period it’s so stupid for a woman not to know that she’s pregnant and who knows who the father is cause what I’ve seen Drew got angry at Clare in one of the episodes because she went to go see Eli after the episode “Sparks will fly” did she have sex with Eli I have no clue she probably did to me she probably did.

Afterwards she told Ali she and Drew had sex which she shouldn’t have Drew is a disgusting pig how many women has this man been with and half of them he took their virginity or cheated on them, Ali first girlfriend cheated on her with Bianca he left Ali and started a relationship with Bianca right afterwards he left Bianca and met Katie started a relationship with her and after he got bored with her and wanted Bianca back he cheated on her while she was in rehabilitation and tried to make her see that he was with someone when he wasn’t all so she can leave him and be Bianca then he treated Katie like shit then he slept with her and claimed he was too drunk bitch no you wasn’t I’ve seen drunk and he wasn’t that drunk he knew exactly what he was doing afterwards he acted as though nothing happened when what he did was immoral and wrong you could have at least talked to Katie after what happened and he never did next victim oh he was gonna marry Bianca, but he didn’t afterwards Bianca left his ass probably for a better man then him.

He then started a relationship with Zoe difference was she wasn’t as naive as Katie she was more forward so she eventually wanted to have sex with him and he didn’t complain then afterwards to him she was being clingy well no one told you to have sex with her so you wanted to break up with her because of some stupid thing that you could had easily fixed come on now no no he didn’t know she was a virgin and he stayed with her, but in the next weeks episodes he left her ass. Then comes Clare naive and needing someone and sense Eli wasn’t there he took his place which he knew was wrong he knew she needed someone and he couldn’t help himself to take advantage because that’s what he did call it anyway you want and see it anyway you want, but he did take advantage the difference with Clare is that Clare already had someone she loved more then him and that someone is Eli and when Eli came over there to confront them he got all high and mighty and thought she was going to choose him over Eli and she did, but then he said she’s using him as a rebound even if she choose you, you really think she wasn’t going to go run to Eli to see him no. A

And now we get to now this season Becky the new fresh meat you barely know the girl and already you jumped the puddle to get the fish really though really you spent one night talking about her issue with her brother that’s not long enough for someone to feel something for someone the next thing you know this asshole is kissing her and he supposedly still cared about Clare no come on no Clare and every other woman in Degrassi should know the history he has with every woman he’s ever been with “BEWARE” Clare shouldn’t waste her time on him not even for a second that guy is not for her or any other women she belongs with Eli she always has, and if she pregnant by him just tell him and let things go the way they go if he wants to be there for the baby good, but she shouldn’t expect anything else from him cause he just gonna walk all over her and if the baby is some how Eli’s better that’s great at least Eli only wants one woman and that’s Clare. My point of all this is how Drew has not changed through the seasons he will always be a gigolo and a womanizer short term a man whore, he goes through girls as people go through water and food he’s the type of man that would never know true love and I don’t think he ever will is just who he is he will never commit to just one woman he has to have a new girl every other month or week he’s nasty and not even boyfriend or husband material watch and see what awaits for Becky she has no idea what she just got herself into and if he sleeps with her worst I feel bad for her I really do.
