Emma’s winning streak came to an abrupt end as Sean Cameron gets the last laugh. Most people predicted Cam would make it to the championship for obvious reasons. He’s had no trouble dispatching two classic TNG characters (Spinner and JT)…will he be able to do the same against Sean?

I think that 4Chan must have found out about this little poll. That’s the only reason I can think of for Emma beating characters infinitely more popular and likeable than she is.
I am tickled pink that Sean beat Eli, though. Sure, Emma sucked the win out of him in Season 6, but at least he isn’t as annoyingly cliche of a character as Eli is.

I don’t know. I voted for Ellie over Emma but otherwise have voted for Emma up until now. Drew’s an idiot, Clare’s an immature shrew, and I liked Holly J but don’t miss her much. I liked seeing Emma grow up on the show. That said… Sean FTW. (And I, too, am thrilled that he beat Eli.)
I do feel like Cam is going to win the whole thing mostly because the character just died, which feels kind of cheap. But it’s not like March Madness could be moved.

I don’t get what all the hate around Emma is for… Emma is the staple character of this show. Sure, she had weak plots once in awhile, but every character does. As a whole, she was a very well crafted character and without her, this show wouldn’t even have happened.

She was boring in my opinion. I really don’t care for the actress. Yes the show wouldn’t have happened without her, but maybe a different actress could have made her worthy of interest.

Emma was completely unlikeable, especially starting in Season 4. She was an overbearing, judgmental hypocrite and she never got called out on her bad behavior. Who cares if she’s the staple character if she’s a total bitch? Most of the other originals changed for the better over their runs on the show, but Emma got worse.

I thought about adding DJH characters, but the problem is this current fanbase is too young to know who a majority of those characters are (Spike, Snake, Joey, etc would be good, but that’s about it).

I’d had it set so that it blocks people’s ip address after they voted, so if you have the same address as someone else it assumes you’ve already voted even if you didn’t. I changed it so it should be working normally for you soon!

Seriously, fuck Emma. And I truly don’t understand why people say there would be no TNG without her. They could have easily carried on with the new incarnation of the show without her character, the adults were more of a connection to og Degrassi than she ever was, especially season 1. I blame myself for forgetting to vote on Monday. LOL
Also, unrelated to Emma hate, I knew the boys were going to dominate the poll. It’s a shame, I think one of Degrassi’s strongest points is that it has relatable, complex, non Twilight-y teenage female characters. Now I can’t vote for any of them.
