SCREAM PREVIEW
–
As Dallas and the hockey boys walked out of Fiona’s condo after the fight in Sabotage, we heard Dallas say he was going to make Eli pay for what happened. With the hockey team’s season on the brink of ruin they now have nothing to lose, and will team up with the Bakers for an all-out assault on Eli’s play.

And in other news Tristan’s kinda/sorta love interest makes his first appearance tonight…he’s played by Kevin Alves.

SHOWDOWN MARATHON
MuchMusic is already releasing information about its fall schedule, and it’s no surprise that there’s nothing about Degrassi yet. We won’t hear anything about Degrassi’s fall block until after Showdown has finished airing. However, for Canadian fans if you missed any of the episodes you will have a chance to watch them again in a couple of weeks. As of now Much is planning a Degrassi: Showdown Marathon on Sunday, September 2. The marathon will go from 9am – 7pm and will air all 20 episodes of Showdown.

KARY & WHISPERHUG MUSIC
Degrassi is doing something pretty cool this Thursday by releasing original music from the show, which includes musical numbers from the play as well as songs from the band WhisperHug. The songs will be available for purchase after the Showdown finale airs.

All throughout 2011 I made a bunch of ridiculous parody songs under the group name “Kary & The Three Tenners,” most of which can be listened to by clicking here. Since the show refuses to acknowledge the existence of the Three Tenners and have destroyed our group by shipping off Wesley to the Degrassi Bermuda Triangle, we’ve broken up and now I’m making terrible music with the new band WhisperHug. I’ve already made two songs, and you can listen to them below. (DISCLAIMER FOR NEW PEOPLE: I never have and never will claim to have musical talent. It’ll be pretty obvious why once you listen…they’re parody songs after all!)

Also I can’t believe Connor and Jenna are in the play as well. Connor doesn’t seem like the school musical type and Jenna did a shit job on Space Awakening so I wonder why Eli would cast her!

Agreed. What she said against Adam really pissed me off. It’s fine to have their own opinions, but Beck doesn’t realize that Adam’s happy being transgender and won’t change it. Remember when Bianca said the “I’m not a lesbian” line back in season? I feel this is the same way with Becky.

I believe Alves is in his early twenties. No clue about “Fab” or whatever his name is.

Yeah the actor is probably in his very-early-twenties. For the character, I’d say probably Grade 11 or 12. I also liked that people know of him as the guy with the tattoo, has said by Imogen or Eli at the beginning of the episode. Plus Tori or Maya mentioned he was brazilian I think, so yeah for diversity. But sadly, In a less harsher way I’d have to agree with @lame, a guy like Fab would rarely go for a guy like Tristan. But anyway, we don’t even know if he’s gay, if he’ll even be featured in Season 12.5 and it would be more realistic if Tristan stayed single for most of his highschool experience, kind of like Adam.

Well, a lot of the guys who have shown interest in Clare would never realistically go for her either. What’s the difference?

I’m curious if anyone likes the potential Adam/Becky has? I absolutely love it. Not sure if it’ll actually HAPPEN but it’d be such an interesting plot for Becky. I surprisingly don’t hate her although her homophobia bugs the hell out of me, but at the same time, she’s not an actual unlikable character–to me at least and homophobia can be fixed. =D
TBH, when I first heard about Becky’s character, I thought I’d absolutely despise her character. I’m pleasantly surprised that I don’t.

I agree with you. I don’t like or agree with Becky views, but that’s what she grew up being taught and believing for many years. It would be so unrealistic for her to “see the light” so quickly and become so accepting when some families teach intolerance of anything different. It’s clear she’s struggling throughout this episode, obviously likes Adam so it makes her struggles worse, but likely she will change her views overtime.
I like Becky and the idea of Adam/Becky. I know some fans hate her for her views and especially because she “dared to challenge *my* Eli” mentality.

All the talk of death/suicide in the last several Degrassi episodes makes me feel like there’s serious foreshadowing going on, like the end of Never Ever Pt. 2 when Eli is saying that everything is set and going perfectly, but then he says “all the actors are alive and well”, and knocks on wood. Not to mention, the major foreshadowing of a possible upcoming Eli suicide in tonight’s episode, i.e “I will defend this play until my dying breath”, and when Imogen tells Eli that he’s just like Romeo, doing everything he can for what he loves, but afterwards randomly throwing in the fact that Romeo does die in the end. It actually scares me, but at the same time, it all seems too blatant and obvious for it to actually happen. Not only that, but Eli isn’t crazy anymore and I don’t think in his right mind, he would do anything to hurt himself unless someone forced his hand, for example if he threatens to commit suicide if they choose to stop the play. He’s grown a lot since then, and after the talk with Imogen about how Romeo is impulsive, Eli spoke to Clare and decided on an idea that was the exact opposite of that, so I think he’s safe for now lol. But I really am not sure what’s going to happen in the finale, except that I can guess that the anonymous letter isn’t from that new guy that Tristan likes, but from Dallas and Luke, who trick Tristan and kidnap him so that he won’t be there in time for the play. Oh, and that Clare takes matters into her own hands and from the promo, enlists the help of Katie.
Anyway, I’ve enjoyed Part 1… Eli having to deal with Clare and the play being a night away has to be stressful. I think if the writers were hoping for this episode to seem like a lot was happening, they did a good job, because that’s exactly how the atmosphere in the school must feel like right now. I feel tensions are high and there’s so much going on and it’s all leading up to a climax in Part 2. I liked that Imogen was supporting Eli, I think she knows Eli fairly well at this point, and genuinely looks out for him. Also, I LOVED that I felt like so many characters were around for the other plots. Dallas/Imogen were both seen in Tristan’s plot, as well as Eli’s plot. Becky was involved in her own C-Plot (supported by Jenna), as well as Eli’s plot, (that Jenna made an appearance in as someone in the play).
Going into the finale, I feel like Clare will pretty much have her own plot, and Tristan’s plot will be absorbed into the Eli/Dallas plot, and I wouldn’t even see why they would choose to continue the Becky/Adam C-plot in tomorrow’s episode, so maybe it’ll be primarily the Eli A-Plot, being everything that’s going on around the play, and Clare’s B-Plot, which is her revenge on Asher. This is kind of reminiscent of All Falls Down Pt. 2 when the A-plot was Drew/Alli and the boiler room, and the B-Plot was Eli/Clare/Fitz, while the extremely forgettable C-Plot of Sav and Holly J was pretty much nonexistent and just there to add more wildness to the whole night, and another reason for the strict changes at Degrassi. Well I’m all out of thoughts now….

I may be the only one who feels this way, and I can hear the mob of fangirls coming for my head now. But I don’t think Eli is being a good boyfriend at all. First, Clare has already said I love you to him twice…only to be met with silence both times (although there was good reason the 2nd time). Second, that one-armed side-hug after Clare told him about Asher was half-hearted at best. Then, after Clare told him her plan, the look on his face as she was walking away was bordeline disgusted. Also, when he was talking to Imogen, just the way he said Clare’s name was full of contempt. He doesn’t seem all that supportive. Sure, the play is important to him. But, is it really more important than his girlfriend’s well-being? I get that the tables have turned, and Clare is now the unstable, desperate one. And I also understand that Eli has alot on his plate. But, if I was Clare, with her questionable mental state, his behavior would justify why she didn’t want to tell him in the first place. Eli told her that they would get through this together. To Clare, Eli telling Miss Oh must seem like him looking for a way out. Like she actually is a burden to him, just as she initially feared. I think this is what pushes her to tell him to go to hell, and resort to drastic measures. I’m sure no good will come of this scheme to get revenge on Asher. I just really hope it doesn’t spell the end of Eclare. I have waited way too long to see them reunited, only to watch them fall apart so quickly!

Eli is being a GREAT Boyfriend, he didn’t have to tell Clare he loves her back just because she said it, that wouldn’t be real, people need to do stuff like that in their own time. The reason his look was insensitive was because Clares plan was moronic as well as illegal and he doesn’t like what shes getting them into. Who would support an illegal act for revenge, not me, I don’t blame him for being withdrawn from it and her well being is fine, she is in no immediate danger, that is why it doesn’t need his immediate attention but his play is and does. Mental state??? Dracy was a devout Christian virgin who raped and got Chlamydia so I understood her mental state but Clare was harassed and if that’s what pushed her over the edge she needs a shrink. She’ll live and her mental state should be normal, my mothers been through worse. I think Eli meant what he said when he said they will get through it together but as a couple not a scheming two some and Eli telling Ms.Oh was the RIGHT thing to do, Clare should have done it in the first place. She was burdening him all episode and so he decided to be the responsible one in the relationship and do the mature thing, not the childish “lets plant fake incriminating evidence and then call the cops” way that the idiot that is Clare has going.

I was so confused after watching that episode. There was a LOT of foreshadowing in this episode and I’m not sure if I like where this is going. Obviously the Hockey Team did something bad enough to Tristan to have Owen kicking Luke’s ass. I knew as soon as I saw the rose that Ari/Fab did not send Tristan that. Dallas is starting to scare me now. He went from douche to haunting all in one episode. My stomach is still trying to digest the fact that someone actually could die in Scream pt. 2. The Degrassi writers have reached their peak so far. This season has been flawless, with forgettable, yet great plots like Zig’s poverty, to Cam’s hard-hitting fall, Clare’s sexual abuse, and now the haunting air that is Romeo and Jules. I am nervous for part 2.

People have been commenting on how selfish Clare is being and how she should just get over herself for one day and support Eli and that she is annoying and whiny and shit like that and I am actually disgusted in these people. She was sexually harassed and yes, it did take her a while to tell Eli, and she should have told Ms. Oh sooner but to sit there and say she is being a terrible person for putting this in front of Eli’s play is terrible! Now I get that this is a fictional storyline but this does happen in real life and victims of sexual harassment can see these posts… its awful. These girls are so in love with a fictional character that they are missing the point of the freaking impact of the story line itself! This happens to men and women all the time and these girls are too busy fan girling over Eli/ Munro Chambers and they are missing how well done this story line is… Sorry I just had to say it :P

I personally think that Clair is pretty annoying, but it has nothing to do with her sexual harassment or Eli (who I don’t care about one way or the other right now). I think of her as another character crafted for our entertainment and therefore written in a certain way. Yes, her storyline, and those of other characters, have touched me emotionally and made me feel for her. I think the writers have made season 12 better than the past season, but I think about these characters in reference to them in past seasons also. Maybe something is wrong with me, but I can’t shake how Clair’s character was demolished in season 11 and how every second she was on screen was nearly impossible to watch. There was no reason for such character demolition and it’s gone pretty unexplained, but I think that season 12 Clair is a strange combination of season 10 Clair and season 11 Clair and I currently don’t know how I feel about it.
But that’s just me.

Clare is being incredibly annoying, reckless and selfish because what happened with Asher is not Eli’s problem to take care of. She is trying to create fake evidence(which is illegal), frame Asher and include Eli. On the opening night of the play he has been working on for over a month (that he currently has to fight for due to the annoying Becky Baker but that’s another rant for a different post). Her ass should of told Ms Oh the minute it happened, instead she decided to get into the car of the very same man who came on to her the night before(smart move). Even after that she still didn’t tell Ms.Oh, Mr.Simpson, her Parents or the authorities. She complained to Ashers boss, got fired and embarrassed herself in the work place (as if he didn’t already lie to protect his own ass). I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Clare does not seem that bright to me and I don’t feel sorry for her. All she kept crying about was “Oh I cant tell Eli it would ruin his play” if it was me I’d being crying about “Will the cops believe me, investigate, will there be a trial, will they fire him” and now she purposely wants to drag Eli down with her. She refused to even tell Ms.Oh and do it the correct legal way because “It would ruin her reputation” news flash her reputation is already ruined because the workplace thinks she is an obsessed stalker and the school thinks she is a trash talking liar who also drinks on school property and gets everyone busted because she has nothing better to do (but take her anger out on people who didn’t do jack squat to her). I have friends who were sexually harassed at their part time jobs that quit the very moment it happened and she has no right to come into rehearsal and put her load of shit on Eli( I WANTED TO SMACK HER WHEN SHE CAME IN TO THE THEATER NOT TO ASK ELI HOW HE WAS DOING OR TO SAY HI BUT TO TEAR UP AND SAY “I JUST THOUGHT YOU HAD A PLAN TO TAKE DOWN ASHER”………BOOO HOOO). This has nothing to do with Munro Chambers, I don’t find him attractive, it HONESTLY has everything to do with how Clare is digging a deeper hole for herself. My god she is an idiot. P.S. Being sexually harassed doesn’t give you he right to whine and act like a moron, especially when you didn’t bother to report it, life goes on. Cry yourself a river, build a bridge and get the fuck over it, Karma will come in due time.

I must admit that at first i was all on the “Clare is being whiny and annoying and selfish” bandwagon then i thought about it…how is she suppose to know that Eli is being overwhelmed? She isn’t working on the play she would not know about the troubles unless Eli spilled and he isn’t….ELI needs to learn (just as Clare did last episode) that a relationship is all about communication a S/O won’t know unless you tell! I like how their situations mirror each others (being swallowed by duties/obligations/secrets for the good of the other when it is unnecessary). Dallas is a smart ass jock lol I wouldn’t have even thought to bring up the suicide angle! And also as a Christian who is TOTES UNLIKE Becky I like seeing her however I hope one day they will introduce a Christian character who is on the opposite spectrum (like me)…I don’t believe in the old testament and try and live like Jesus (new testament-treat others the way you want to be treated, turn the other cheek etc) I study science and fully believe in evolution…my roommate is gay and is the most awesome person I have ever met and I wear a pride bracelet to church and march during Pride week! I hope we will eventually get both sides of the coin….All of religious characters on the show have been radical in the beginning (Clare, Darcy, friendship club, becky, luke etc) And then when they drop their radical behavior their religion is also dropped…It is possible to have a religion (whether it be Christianity, Islam, Judaism etc) and not be bat-shit crazy!
Sorry for the long post TL;DR Version: Eli and Clare both have trust issues, Dallas is not just a pretty face and there is more to being Christian besides being a member of Westboro Baptist…

Woah, this episode was great O_O This was perfect build-up to tomorrow’s finale. That’s a Part 1 I would have been pleased with even if the second part wasn’t the day after. Also, all 3 plots were are solid and they all come together because of the play. Munro Chambers is a great actor even when it’s not in the dramatic scenes he still shines. I loved Imogen’s talking to him! Continuity was on fire :D Becky and Adam, love that pairing. Basically she’s started having feelings for Adam and she doesn’t want to awknowledge them because of her beliefs. Thank you Adam for that speech! Finally, Tristan, oh my lovely Tristan. He’s been amazing for the entire 12.0 and tonight, once again. All he did had reason behind it. Go to see the older lesbians to ask for advice, thinking he had a moment after one look (although maybe he did), and the letter….this is so not gonna end well. Seriously, Tristan reminds me so much of me it’s insane.
P.S: Sure Clare was a bit annoying, but it make sense after what happened to her, she just wants some kind of resolution and peace and Eli kind of told her he could offer such a thing. Of course she’ll be clingy.

It feels good to actually have someone on the show that doesn’t drive me up the wall. Hopefully we get more Zig & Tori in the second half of the season though. This was a great set-up episode. I’m intrigued to see how everything plays out in part two. I can’t believe how clingy Clare was to Eli. Thank goodnes Eli freed himself of the situation by telling Ms. Oh everything that happened to Clare. If Imogen weren’t the voice of reason in this who knows what would have happened to Eli. Tristan’s crush on the stage guy is so cute. His plot always reminds me of why the Niners are one of the best new characters on Degrassi. Becky’s plot is a bit tiresome but the highlight was Adam giving her a reality check towards diversity of sexual orientation.

I was excited to see some Tristan action from part 1 of Scream. I really wish that his love note was from the stage-hand, but I’m almost 100% positive that it’s from Luke and Dallas. This episode really caught the pressure Eli was under, from trying to nail down the details for opening night, to having Clare after him every five minutes to do something about Asher, to having to change the ending less than 24 hours before the curtain goes up.
It was finally Imogen who got through to him, and he did the responsible thing and went to see Ms. Oh. Something Alii should have done two or three episodes ago.
I love Tristan and his chat with Fimogen, but this first kiss thing feels too Brady Bunchy to me.
I don’t think anyone is going to die tonight, but all the foreshadowing certainly points to something big happening. Wonder what it will be.
