Well neither MuchMusic nor TeenNick have yet to actually announce anything…but amidst the chaos of the Bite Your Tongue promo on May 28th, Entertainment Weekly confirmed what we’ve already known for weeks, that the premiere is on Monday July 16th [ It’s only official when accredited media outlets post it, as opposed to us lowly Degrassi bloggers ;-) ].
Of course the most interesting piece of information is that the premiere’s broadcast time is going to be at 10pm EST on BOTH MuchMusic and TeenNick. I’d been following this for a couple weeks assuming that the 10pm start time was an error, but I guess not. At this point all of the info I’ve read only talks about the premiere being at 10pm, so I’m not sure if this is just something happening for that one episode or if 10pm is going to be Degrassi: Showdown’s official timeslot. It probably is though, and with Much and TeenNick fleshing out their summer schedules we should also know why in the coming weeks.

Apparently the Stohn has said that all Degrassi episodes this summer at 1pm EST:
Sweet baby jesus, I was hoping it was just going to be that one night…this is going to make for some long-ass nights covering the show.

No, besides the fact that this whole Ari thing has been overblown b/c the guy playing him is so busy trying to build a fanclub on twitter before he’s even filmed anything. The character is only supposed to appear in 2 episodes, aka he’s not that important yet.

Maybe.. the themes in season 12 are more “mature” so they pushed it to 10pm? because certain shows can not Air before 10 due to the content.

Tis true. I’m doing a “Mock Supreme Court” case in my government class where there is a case of mature content before 10 P.M.

It’s gonna be at 10pm I’m sure of it. The LA Complex has been confirmed at 9 o’clock on Tuesdays right after Pretty Little Liars on MuchMusic. And since in the summer Degrassi plays Mon-Thurs. it would have to take the 10pm slot.

Yeah, I decided to not blog about it b/c it’d be too much, but I still watch it. I’m back and forth on it…the Tariq/Kaldrick and Nick/Abby storylines are really good, but the rest of them I don’t really care about.

Well at least on the west coast we get to see it at 7pm. Also I heard may parents wanted to bump the time spot because some of the stories are too mature and graphic for teens under 13. My girlfriend watched an 8 & 9 old girls for her sick friend she asked them what they were watching. They said Degrassi, she watched it with them and it was Paper Planes. She asked them do understand any of this, they said no. Later on my GF and her friend locked teennick and wrote a very concered letter to them to bump the time slot.

Well I suppose this could work, but I can also understand why most people would be against it. I personally might run into some difficulties with this new timeslot during Showdown, because I’ll be spending most of the summer away from home and will be on the go quite often. Thus from about mid-June to early August, my amount of TV access will be much less than it typically is. There’s also the fact that the only person who will be watching with me is my oldest nephew who just turned 14, so it’ll be a bit hard to snag their only TV with digital channels at that time during the months where everyone is constantly pulling all-nighters like every other night. Oh well, whatever happens I guess I’ll make do.
