Bow down to me, for it’s my birthday! I’m 28, which means I’m way too old to be watching Degrassi (even though I’ve been watching it for the past seven years). But I’ve already made the mental commitment to stick with this show until the end so that means you’re stuck with me too.
Since I can do whatever I want today, I’m forcing you to watch some of my favorite episodes from Degrassi Junior High/Degrassi High….it beats me flying to Toronto on my private jet, or trying (and failing) to get cast members on twitter to acknowledge my birthday existence. DJH Episode 211 – TRUST ME: Snake’s parents go away for the weekend, so Joey invites himself and Wheels to stay over and borrow Snake’s parents’ car for a little joyriding. The twins are upset when it looks like Spike will be thrown out of Degrassi after all.
Hmmmmmmmm I wonder where they got the idea for the TNG episode “Drive” from……..lol. Also, it’s interesting seeing the difference in the decades when it comes to Spike’s pregnancy, because there’s no way a kid would get thrown out for that nowadays.

DJH Episode 310 – TWENTY BUCKS: Melanie’s wish comes true when Snake invites her to a concert, dutch. But her mom won’t give her the money..not voluntarily anyway. Joey makes a bet that he can get a date for Friday night. The tension gets worse between Shane and Spike.
Wanna talk about impressive? All three storylines are different, yet they all revolve around $20. Melanie and Snake were frustrating through the entire series…they were those people who every time you thought they were going to get together, something always came in between them.

DH Episode 105 – EVERYBODY WANTS SOMETHING: Lucy agrees to shoot The Zits’ video…if they can agree on a script and persuade Clutch to lend them his car. Joey plans to deal with Caitlin just as soon as the video’s done. The hate campaign against Erica escalates.
This episode made me want to punch Caitlin in the face…what a jackass. The video shoot itself is fun though. And Erica’s subplot is great. Erica is the twin that had an abortion, and ever since someone has been posting/spreading hate messages about her all over school. In this episode she ends up discovering who it is.

DH Episode 206 – CROSSED WIRES: Tim’s attempt to kiss Liz goodnight reawakens her memories of sexual abuse. Yankou wants to kiss Tessa, but he’s not sure whether she wants him to. Joey feels pressured with Wheels living in his house. Dwayne’s friends don’t know what’s bothering him.
I referenced “Crossed Wires” in my review of TNG’s Season 8 episode “Jane Says.” Yankou/Tessa is cute. And I it’s weird watching Dwayne and Wheels’ characters change. Wheels was awesome before his parents’ death…afterward he became a jackass who used their death as an excuse for why he can’t do anything. Dwayne was a bully until he found out he had HIV…something like that will make you very humble, very quickly.

HAPPY FUCKING BELATED DAY OF BIRTH :D I am so glad to have come across this blog, which I first discovered in September 2009 during school. Hey, don’t worry about the age thing. I was 7 years old when I STARTED watching Degrassi, but I didn’t care. I understand everything that was going on, and my sister who got me into it was 11 at the time .
