In TheTvAddict’s latest article, they reveal that Epitome Pictures is now casting for SEASON 11!!! They’re looking to bring four new characters into the fray next season.
I remember back when people absolutely HATED the idea of new characters being added, and I’m sure there’s a lot of people who still feel that way. But, especially after Season 9 and 10’s additions, I’m pretty excited to see what these new characters bring.
BELOW ARE THE OFFICIAL DESCRIPTIONS FOR THE NEW CHARACTERS:

Name: Imogen Berish
Gender: Female
Age: 16 yrs
Fun, energetic, with a magnetic look and intense stare–Imogen would hate for anyone to think she’s boring, so she goes to great lengths to stand out from the crowd: bandaging her unwounded wrists, or even posing as a homeless kid to beg for change. She puts on the airs of being en enlightened individual, but it’s a ploy to manipulate those around her. She worries one day someone will discover her secret: she’s a normal kid looking for excitement in her life.
Name: Katie Matlin
Gender: Female
Age: 16 yrs
Katie works hard and plays hard. A gifted athlete, she’s been training to make the National Under 17 Woman’s Soccer Team. She’s pretty, but fresh-faced, her years of mastering the bicycle kick keeping her from learning how to cake on the make-up. She’s driven and thorough when it comes to academics and extracurriculars; she’s blunt and direct when talking to other girls, even fun-loving BFF Marisol; but when it comes to talking to boys or about matters of the heart, she clams up. The soccer field prepared her for a lot of things, but not love.
Dennis MacDonnell
Gender: Male
Age: 17 yrs
Dennis MacDonnell is an overweight grade 12 student. He’s self-aware, cynical, quick-witted and smart. Dennis has always struggled with his weight, and as a consequence, has taken a social backseat for most of high school. In his graduating year, Dennis is ready to put himself out there and have a great time before leaving Degrassi for good. Dennis’ keen ear and passion for music will bring him into a unique friendship with Sav and closer to his hidden crush: Alli.
Noah Bradley
Gender: Male
Age: 16 yrs
A man of few words, Degrassi’s new heartthrob is good with his hands and quick with a grin. Noah spends most of his free time at the cottage. After his mom died, he and his dad renovated their lake cabin in her honour. All of Noah’s shirtless hard work eventually paid off…especially when girls started admiring his boyish good looks and strong physique. Let’s just say Noah’s made out with his share of bikini clad Muskoka girls. But he never let them get in the way of the stuff he truly loves: watching sports, hanging with friends, fishing, and camping. He’s a guy’s guy who doesn’t play games and means what he says – all with a good dose of humour and charm.

If you’re wanting to audition, those are the characters to choose from for auditioning. I still get e-mails from people asking how to audition for Degrassi. The number one piece of information I tell people is that IF YOU ARE NOT A REGISTERED CANADIAN CITIZEN, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO JOIN THE DEGRASSI CAST. You can be as passionate about acting as you want, but that’s the rules. I’ve addressed the reasons why in a previous post here.

This means that Marisol is definitely being added as a series regular next season. And I hope Jess is as well. For some reason she reminds me of Darcy and how Darcy was introduced. Darcy appeared in season 4 and 5 quietly, but busted in in season 6 with gripping story lines. Also, doesn’t Noah sound like Drew? And there’s no doubt Katie is a replacement for Jane.

Also, nice to see that they’re adding a “girl jock” into the mix, FINALLY. We’ve had so many male athletes, but pretty much the only sporty girls were cheerleaders. Not sure how I feel about Imogen…she sounds almost cartoonish.

Imogen cartoonish? Really?? I do not believe that at all because she portrays a person who keeps pushing people away because they may get too close.

Her going to such ridiculous lengths to seem interesting just seems really boring and typical. Upon second viewing of her profile, she sounds very much like a middle/upper middle-class (season 9) Fiona, especially with regards to, “she puts on the airs of being en enlightened individual, but it’s a ploy to manipulate those around her”.
Noah sounds like a typical “cute guy” type, but he’s the character I suggested my cousin audition for, as their personality types are quiet similar. Except my cousin is more reserved when it comes to girls (I think).

I didn’t see it in that sense. Okay, I can conjure up many visual in regards to what I will think Imogen will think and behave, guess we going to have agree to disagree.

Also someone tweeted Stephen Stohn asking “yep yep. Theres 4 new characters for season 11: imogen, katie, noah, and dennis is this true?” to which Stohn replied “True. For the FIRST part of Season 11.. :). More will follow..”
So there will be more new characters coming our way! (Guess these characters will be introduced at the end of this school year and the other new characters will be introduced when the next school year starts).

I’m glad there’s a girl-jock, and Imogen looks interesting as well as an overweight character has been sorely needed.
One thing I think Degrassi needs in a character and has lacked for far too long: a geeky girl. Not like Clare or Emma who are just brainy and outspoked, but a true, geeky, awkward, comic book, video games, nerdy girl.

That’d be hard for alli though considering all she cares about is looks, and if dennis is over weight, then alli wont go for him (judging from past Alli episodes)

I’m very excited for Landon, this is such a huge opportunity for him! This is why Declan has been MIA however. Despite the rumours that Declan’s going to kick the bucket, I won’t believe ANYTHING until it happens (or doesn’t – Holly J and Declan need to be together!)

Not really….I’m sure you need to send in a resumé and a headshot, but other than that I’m not sure what else you’d need. If you’re an aspiring actor this is where having an agent helps, they do all that stuff for you.

Wow, this is awesome ,very unpredicted. They all sound so interesting too.
But yeah, the last guy just seems like another Drew. But hopefully he will get a different storyline, or maybe something extremely different, like crossdressing?

But does this mean that Dennis will start s11 in grade 12 and then be off the show after they graduate halfway through the season? Of course they could always pull a season 5 and make half the characters dropouts or get held back. ;)

I’m definitely most excited for Imogen. I’m hoping they’ll make her storyline more intense and make her a compulsive liar or something. (plus i love her name. well, not her name specifically, but just the fact that it’s so uncommon.) Katie . . . meh. I totally couldn’t care less about sports, but i’m glad there will be a girl who doesn’t do makeup. Dennis . . . while i agree that degrassi needs an overweight character, i dont like the idea of bringing in a senior. he’ll be there for what, half a season? and noah . . we’ve had this same character three seasons in a row now. Declan, Drew, Noah.

Yeah, I’m thinking that Noah will be way nicer than Drew. I also think that while Drew is a straight-up player for the thrill of it, Noah is only a player because he doesn’t want to get too close to a girl and then lose her- like what he experienced when his mom died.

These actually seem like good additions. They haven’t had these type of characters (for the most part) and I’m excited they’re adding new characters into the mix. Like someone else said, we haven’t had a girl jock (something that is very common) and we haven’t had someone overweight (Spinner was a bit chubby at a time when it didn’t matter). Plus, weight is something that is more common in teens today (obesity is at an all-time high). Imogen sounds pretty interesting, though she seem like she has similar qualities to Fiona (at times). However, I could still see an interesting character out of her. Noah seems to be a more generic character, but hopefully he’ll still be interesting.
On a side note, you’d think they’d add younger characters. However, they’re shortening the time frame for each season, so they’ll still be on longer.
They have yet to add a total druggie. However, that could be a dangerous road to go down…

What scares me with this whole situation is with new characters comes new breaks ups and New couples I don’t want to sound like one of those huge obbsessers over if eclare will break up but to be honest With the way things r going based on the in too deep promos I’m pretty scared :-/

I think I might try this. I’m graduating this year and I have always wanted to at least try auditioning or potentially auditioning for degrassi but I just never came around to doing it, maybe I will. Could anyone tell me if they know if I should send a video of a monolouge? I have never done a tv audition before so I have no idea what they require. I know a headshot and resume is essential.

I think it would also be a good idea to find a good agent. I’ve heard horror stories about agent scams though so watch out for that!

Well, if everyone is writing some fanfic, I might as well share one idea of mine.
Title: The Good Life
plot a: eli and clare are finally in a good place. no more dirty little secrets. but when clare discovers that eli’s mom is cheating on his dad she’s not sure what to do. the harder she tries to keep the secret, the more shes avoiding eli and hes not happy about that. as eli grows suspicious, he begins to uncover the truth and clare wonders if he can take it.
plot b: adam’s life is comming together nicely. he has fiona for a girlfriend and theyre in love. but when drew lets it slip to adam’s mom about fiona, his life falls apart. he can no longer trust drew, his own brother. now, adam’s mom is trying to end his relationship by threatening fiona and adam is forced to chose between love and family.
plot c: riley is getting ready for college. he has his whole life ready to go. zane, however, is less sure. his college plans are minimal. as riley pushes zane to decide his future, zane becomes more distant and unsure. he questions his relationship with riley and debates whether his future-whatever it may be-will include riley.
i know its a little rough but its just something i put together. and while im a little bored with eclares issues i think this is something a little different, an outside force causing tension. with fadam i think it was important to include adams mom just because she played a major role in his origina storyline. as for ziley, i jus figured that sane needs a plotline that features riley, not vise versa.
i have a lot more ideas, just wondering about ur thoughts on this one.

Not excited for any of these. But the fact that Dennis becomes friends with Sav basically dispels the rumor that Sav’s going to die at the end of S10. That’s all the importance I got out of this.

Imogen sounds amazing, and I can totally relate. They’ve never really done descriptions like this beforehand, it adds a new element to things. It seems a bit Skins-ish, but I don’t really know what I’m talking about because I haven’t watched Skins (though I want to). I hope Degrassi is bringing more edge. No doubt it got tamer in Seasons 8 & 9. But Kary, did you read last weeks Entertainment Weekly with the title “Gay Teens on TV?” Degrassi was mentioned a lot due to its 8 gay characters (and counting) since the 1980s. They even interviewed Linda Schuyler. Pretty cool. The bulk of it was about Chris & Darren on Glee, but Degrassi was definitely mentioned.

I’m mostly excited to hear about Dennis. It’s still rare to see an overweight character on television. Especially a teen male. That has so many possibilities. But, falling for Alli? She’s so shallow. She won’t give him a second glance.

The show has just aired and there’s a new episode tonight!!!!(can’t wait). And the only new character that was introduced so far was sadie(not katie) but she seems REALLY cool. But the character Noah kinda reminds me of the currents “eli and declan” put together….hmm i wonder how thats gonna turn out…but im excited!

Ok so what with all the hating on Noah. Personally I think he will be a great charecter. I most defenatly do not think he will be a mini drew. resons why:
1. He dosn’t play games so he probably wouldn’t cheat on anyone
2. I think his charm and phisice will work as a blanket so people won’t see that he is actualy kind and conflicted about his mothers death
3. He speends most of his time at his cotage and not at huge partys
4. He is realy outdoorsy. When have we seen that befor?
5.Although he could probably get any girl he wants he never lets it get in the way of the things he truly loves: watching sports, hanging with friends, fishing, and camping.

It’s ovius that she will have a love story line along the season but I was thinking maby one of her story lines will be about how she might be taking the under 17 women national team to seriusly and her grades start declining or she faints or something. I think that you should be able to tryout for Degrassi even if you aren’t a Canadian citizen. If you could fly to wherever you have to go then you should be able to tryout.

I’m a Canadian citizen but I do not live in Ontario. I’m interested in auditioning for the upcoming roles in the seasons to come. I also read that you must be between the ages of 12-18 , I was wondering if its still possible to audition if you’re over 18. I’m presently 21 years old but I’m still really determined to try out for a part.

I remember when I first saw degrassi I thought the show was weird cause the n would always show scenes of a couple in the woods making out.Then I watched a few episodes and got hooked. I would get excited everytime a new season would come. Degrassi really has changed now After season seven I watched half of season eight then stopped watching it all together. I just can’t get into these new characters.
