Since it’s election day, might as well do some voting….we’re going to relive three of Degrassi’s elections for student body President, only this time you get to actually vote on who wins.
Ashley vs. JT
In “Family Politics” Ashley was initially running for President without any competition. A jealous Toby then talked JT into running and doing a joke campaign to piss Ashley off. The only problem is that people started actually liking JT, and he even had a lead in the polls going into his final speech. That’s when Ashley decided to bribe him with money to get him to drop out of the race. Toby was going to tell the entire school about the bribe, but didn’t after realizing that Ashley really wanted to make a difference at Degrassi.

Marco vs. Alex
In “King of Pain,” Marco was running uncontested for President until he found out that Alex was running. While Marco was the straight-laced candidate, Alex was running on an “anti-establishment” platform. Alex threatened to tell the entire school that Marco was gay (at the time he wasn’t publicly out yet), but decided not to at the last minute. Marco ended up winning the election, and made Alex his Vice President.

Sav vs. Holly J
With her life filled uncertainty, the only thing Holly J was sure of was that she’d be a lock for student body President. That’s until she found out Sav was running as well. She and Anya plot to get Sav to drop out by having Anya fake being pregnant, however the “pregnancy” works to Sav’s advantage with the voters. Once Anya confesses the scheme to Sav and joins his side (to squash the fake pregnancy they say Anya had a miscarriage), Holly J is left helpless. Sav’s momentum is too strong and she can’t say anything about the fake pregnancy or else everyone will know it was initially her idea. And with that said, Sav wins the election.

I suppose there is no better place to ask than here.
Why do people like JT so much?
I know people are entitled to opinions and all, but I found him to be completely unlikable the whole way through.
Hopefully someone can answer this for me.

I didn’t like him either. He was kind of creepy throughout the earlier seasons (in how he interacted with Paige and made-over-Manny — especially Manny), he was a jerk to Toby more often than not, and he just kind of had that “annoying kid brother” vibe. And then when they tried to make his character more serious, I just kind of rolled my eyes through every plotline he had (dealing drugs? turf wars? Really, writers?). I didn’t DISLIKE him exactly, but I never really cared for him, and I have to admit I really didn’t care one way or the other when the character was killed off.
Definitely voted for Ashley. I loved season one Ashley. After that, not so much, but season one, she was probably my favorite.

That’s exactly what makes his character so realistic though. He’s one of those annoying preschooler who eventually grows up and becomes more mature. He ended up getting into some bad situations and had to deal with them even if it was the wrong way. It does happen to some people in real life.
I did vote for Ashley though.

Ashley was one of the most annoying characters ever to grace degrassi. Alex should have been expelled for the Rick/Jimmy thing. And Sav just plain sucks. JT, Marco, Holly J.
