The assumption was that this promo would confirm a premiere date for Degrassi 14B, but unfortunately it doesn’t. The networks wait until about 2 1/2 – 3 weeks at the latest to start promoting a new block of episodes, so unless TeenNick randomly drops a promo this week with a confirmed date, Degrassi’s chances at an April return are pretty much dead now. Since the promo says “spring premiere,” just assume Degrassi is returning at some point in May.
This 14B promo doesn’t reveal too much new stuff, but the biggest change we’ve seen so far is the introduction of a new principal:
All we know is she isn’t playing games, and she’s about to crack down on the students at Degrassi (thankfully no school uniforms, a la season 10). I jumped on tumblr for a hot minute to notice people shocked that Snake is no longer in charge, but let’s be real here:
1) He wasn’t all that good of a principal. I LOVE Snake, but a lot of crazy stuff has gone down since Snake’s tenure began in season 10 (hazing, the events of “All Falls Down,” Degrassi Nudes), and he doesn’t necessarily display strong leadership qualities (ex: watch his behavior when confronted by Becky’s mom at the PTA meeting in Firestarter, Pt. 1).
2) It’s not like we didn’t see this coming eventually. Honestly, I expected this to happen much sooner. Simpson’s onscreen role has gradually decreased as Stefan Brogren’s behind-the-scenes responsibilities have increased over the years. Stefan started from the bottom, producing and directing the webisodes, and now he’s here producing and directing the actually Degrassi series. He’s also in the same role for Epitome’s other series, Open Heart. As iconic as Snake’s character is to the Degrassi universe, his generic appearances on the show are almost a waste of Stefan’s time.

The one thing I liked about the uniforms. Is it was about the only time I truly knew right away what grade everyone was in. (Of course they have been known like with Peter and Adam among others to retcon someone who was presented as being in a different grade early on than they ended up being in later. The uniforms temporarily ended that).

Can’t help but notice Zoe and the cheerleaders were not in it. To be fair, Jenna, Connor, Alli, Eli and Dallas were not in it either but with such a huge role they had to the first part of the season, I think they are probably going to be suspended for the later half of spring(although Jack was in the school so maybe just Zoe? Surely if mr. simpson got fired or relocated over this, they got suspended) . I really wish they wouldn’t bring up this school change shit with the last 10 weeks of spring. It is kind of annoying in my opinion that now instead of focusing on the graduating seniors the focus is going to be on the new school. And out of everyone, of course claire is going to be the one who freaks out the most and whack a camera with a bat.

I hope the girls & Frankie are free from Zoe’s hands. She better feel bad now. Before she wanted no one to know. But if she didn’t tell the police like we almost saw then isn’t Frankie’s name in danger? Also I really dont think she would just get suspended. That’s bull. Child porn charges were mentioned
Twice. No one gets suspended over that. Unless no one told. But she knows she hurt everyone. I want to see real punishment! BTW why did she look like she saw an incident in her new pic? We all know she will get expelled once it happens. Hopefully before prom. So hopefully no happy endings. Her demise
Is the only thing I love about this block. Unless she walks away with lots of emotional damage then she won’t be in the 11th grade. BTW its unfair to Luke. He did assault & child porn & got expelled & the big house. She should too.

I doubt they would bother with a new principal if this really was the end of the series. But the lack of news leads me to believe things haven’t been as good as in the past with the show.
Would be kind of a shame since this season the quality has finally picked up, so I had high hopes for Maya, Miles and the rest of the Grade 10s taking over. Although if so all good things must come to an end.
I just have kind of excepted like Dr. Who or The Simpsons Degrassi had found a way to just go on forever. lol

Zoe isn’t in this promo but she was in the 15 second promo a few months ago and Tristan was saying she could go to jail so that might be what happens.
I think this might be the end of Degrassi. There hasn’t been a single word on Season 15. I surely hope I’m wrong.

Why are fans surprised with a new principle, I wonder why it didn’t happen sooner. Fans have to realize that the parents are probably the ones who got Simpson fired or suspended because of the Degrassi nudes scandal and other past occurrences.. But I did notice this season there is a lot of sexism more than usual. The thing that really angered me that some fans are still justifying on what Eli said to Clare. So it makes me wonder if this another reason why the new rules, No kissing, No hugging, No fun at school. I wonder if Prom will be canceled or overly supervised. I have a bad feeling a lot of the kids are going to retaliate.

That bothered me too but there are Eli stans that think he can do no wrong no matter what. They’ll always find someone (typically Clare) or something to blame and it helps if the writers try to justify Eli’s actions when any other character wouldn’t get that type of rescue from the writers or their own fans. Some of these stans don’t even care about Clare, her feelings, or hell Eclare at all. They just want Eli to get whatever he wants and self insert via Clare. In general, female characters get crapped on by fans more often than male characters, even if they do the same things or do something not as bad. It’s a gross double standard that exists in fandom and society.
Overall, I’ve been pretty bored with Degrassi. Some plots are good, but sometimes they focus on the weaker quality plots and can’t seem to let Eli go (it’s like a repeat of Spinner). Likely Clare will ride off into the sunset with Eli, the same issues in their relationship remaining unsolved (ie; poor communication skills being a key one), despite the potential for her to graduate single and move on with a better relationship for her or reuniting with an old boyfriend (overall, her boyfriends weren’t all bad guys) instead of this on again off again with Eli.

You all should’ve learned to ignore the stans years ago! It doesn’t even matter what happens with Eclare, because when they leave the show the same fandom culture of obsessive behavior from stans & haters toward each other and the ship itself (regardless of what’s actually happening in the episodes) will still exist.
Unfortunately, same goes for the unnecessary venom toward the female characters who are involved with the show’s designated male heartthrobs. Hell it’s been happening to Maya for a while now…and I’m not sure if it was intentional, but Tristan’s recent and future jerky behavior toward Maya is awfully reminiscent of the hateful attitude female fans have toward Maya, regardless of what positive things she’s tried to do in recent seasons.

I would like to see more seasons of DEGRASSI. I think it is an awsome show. It teaches you all about the different ways of life, right and wrong, and all the other ways to life and what is actually going on in real life i love the show and wish to see more.
