Mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 30, as TeenNick revealed they’ll be releasing the season 14 music video promo in a week.

I know the supposed season 14 premiere date that’s floating around is October 7th, but in my head that doesn’t seem right.  If it happens to be on the 7th that’s great, but the idea that TeenNick and would only spend one week promoting this returning show seems weird.

  1. I’m not as much concerned with a new music video as I am with them bringing back the theme song. C’mon, it was a nice one minute or so way to introduce all of the characters and the school.

    1. Stephen Stohn said that the Season 14 credits will be similar to the Season 13 credits, so – unfortunately! – I doubt they’ll be going back to the old format of them with this particular season, but I truly do hope they decide to do so for Season 15. Pretty much everyone hates this new one… I understand that it provides more story time, but come on… What’s a mere 45 seconds? The original credit style was an iconic part of the show, and though it made sense for them to be different in Season 6 and Season 7 – truly, with the big mix of graduates and high school students and them being all over the place, where the hell were they supposed to put everybody? Those credits have always taken place within and outside of the school, so it’s not like they were going to shoot the graduates in their new locations. Anywho, it made sense that time, but I never thought I’d see the day where they shelved the original credit completely. I understand that it’s pretty much a totally different show now, but I’d always assumed that would be the one thing to remain a constant. *shrugs*

  2. Clare isn’t wearing her cross anymore… Hmm, who’d have thunk it? I think it would be interesting to see her questioning her faith in her final season as she deals with this whole pregnancy storyline. I think it may have been very briefly addressed in passing conversation in the past, but I don’t ever think she’s legitimately had a storyline in which that happened. I’m not religious myself, but I think it would be interesting to see. Sometimes religious people stop being religious at some point fairly early on in their lives. That’s a real thing that happens, so would be interesting to see play out. I just hope she gets a happy ending. I’m not very pleased at all with what the writers did to her character in Season 13 personality wise, but the girl has been to hell and back and at the end of the day I really did used to love her, and hopefully they can possibly redeem her, whilst also sending her off on a high note. I think she’s been through too much to not at least finish off happy.

  3. I would not be surprised with Nick botching the advertisement and hype with Degrassi up after the giant fiasco that happened with Legend of Korra…

  4. Clare probably isn’t wearing her necklace due to the fact they are outdoors/camping or the costume people forgot it. If I remember They did that with her purity ring & necklace in the S11 music promo.

  6. The problem with this credits is that it doesn’t ‘extend’ the storytime in an episode. In previous seasons every episode was approx. 21 minutes 52 seconds long and in season 13 the episodes were approx. 20 minutes 52 seconds long. The previous opening credits were ~43 seconds long and now they’re ~10 seconds long. Using simple mathematics, episode length before S13 was 21:09 while in S13 it’s 20:42. In conclusion, now we have even shorter storytime.

    1. Exactly. Like honestly, what the hell is 30 seconds really going to detract from the story in the long run? And yes, I noticed that the episodes were shorter in Season 13 than they were in previous seasons, so clearly the statement that getting rid of that format of credits adds more story time is actually rather futile. Anyways, if people like the new credit style and think they should stay, that’s fine and dandy, but I’ll also say that we need to all respect opposing viewpoints on the matter. I personally loved the old credits and want them back. I don’t really care about whether there’s less or more storytime or not, I just enjoyed the credits themselves and I think the Season 13 ones were really basic and lame and so yeah, that’s just my own opinion on the whole situation.

  8. Its kind of a disappointment how this video promo is gonna be launching a week before the season starts when it should have aired two weeks ago at the very latest. All in all, there should have been at least 2 or more promos and/or trailers before now. The fact that this video promo will be airing this late isn’t a great kick-off to the start of the season, and that’s aside from the one teaser that aired only once directly after last season’s finale. Ever since then, there has been no sign of the show in existence, not even reruns of past seasons. I hope this promo is appealing and effective, but not necessarily covered in neon and love symbols.
