MTV FINALLY put out a press release about 13C, revealing a description of the January 28th episode, The World I Know:

**********
In the winter premiere of DEGRASSI, “The World I Know” (Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 9 p.m. ET), it’s Alli’s (Melinda Shankar) birthday, but her spirits are crushed when she learns that the love of her life, Leo (Alex Harrouch) is being sent back to France with an expired visitor visa. Maya (Olivia Scriven) returns from suspension, only to find she’ll be stuck in a new class with former friend Zig (Ricardo Hoyos). President Drew (Luke Bilyk) is working with mayoral candidate, Mr. Hollingsworth (John Ralston), but his recent intimate moment with Clare (Aislinn Paul) has him distracted. Drew’s excited for the first event of the term, a speaking engagement by Mr. Hollingsworth, but his first call of duty is to clear things up with Clare.

  1. So I guess my hopes that there might be a few 1 hour blocks in C have vanished.

Kary, do you believe that the ultimate goal is to have DeGrassi be a year round event? 40 episodes with only a couple hour blocks basically gives them 9 months of DeGrassi. It seems as if the production schedule is more or less the same, but broadcasting them in this manner must have been part of the deal with MTV. Otherwise it seems odd that they would mess with a successful 4eps /week summer schedule. What are the numbers like?

    1. I feel like they might do something different with the final 10 episodes (Unless they end up doing something similar to the end of season 10 and using a couple of the episodes as part of season 14)? Block C ends at the very end of April, and if season 14 starts in July as it has in the past that means they have to cram 10 episodes into a 2-month period with hiatuses on each side. I don’t know, it definitely looks like they’re trying to make it so that Degrassi really is a year-round event though.

      1. The thing that confuses me about this is why they decided to take a two month break in between 13B and 13C. I guess they probably have their airing schedule planned for 13D in a way that makes sense (to them, at least), but it doesn’t make sense why they’d struggle to cram those 10 13D episodes into a two-month span when they could’ve easily started 13C in early Janaury and gained an extra month. And it really hurts because this block actually looks good compared to the previous yet, and they’re torturing us by making the hiatus leading up to it be the longest one yet.

  2. The winter/holiday hiatus is pretty standard. Regardless of how they decided to run them, somebody wouldn’t be happy. I see your point tho. I can only assume that whatever happens at the end of C will be more important that what transpired at the end of B. (which IMO, wasn’t much) So they must feel as if it’s more important to have a short break there instead over the holidays.

Realistically tho, it probably has zero to do with any of that and was just some bean-counters decision that he made because he was in a hurry to go to lunch….

  3. My theory right now based on the plot summery is that between the 13B finale and here there was a 3 month time jump (since last arc ended in early October and the PR leads us to believe it’s January in-verse) I have a feeling this arch will end around spring break timeline wise (though the Jonner bit in the promo makes me wonder if we’ll get an early prom or just a random dance somewhere in the mix) with 13D airing in the summer and spanning spring break-graduation with those 10 episodes…. then IF we do in fact get a season 14 it’ll be a Final season and scaled back to a 10 episode fall and 10 episode winter/spring arch just my opinion

    1. I highly doubt Maya was suspended for three months though.

      1. The finale of 13C is a Valentines dance. (No Tux’s were seen) I saw a picture floating around.. I believe that this part is Oct/Nov. Canadian Thanksgiving was Oct, 14th. Maya is off Suspension and Drew can’t get Clare off his mind. It sounds like this happens right after their TG holiday. Stohn said that they are taking S13 Slow like a river. So when 13D happen it will be March/April so it ends by Spring break. So S14 A will be graduation.
