Gathering information about Degrassi’s ratings is difficult because it’s often reported sporadically.  Sometimes media outlets will post ratings for entire blocks of episodes, and other times they won’t post anything at all.  Thankfully they did the former for 13B.

Degrassi’s ratings and viewership for TeenNick ONLY are posted below.  The issue that troubles me though is not having a grasp of the numbers’ significance or what we’re supposed to be comparing them to, so I guess we’ll just compare the viewers in this block to the limited info available from past blocks.

**********
1309 (This Is How We Do It): 0.2 rating / 321,000 viewers

1310 (You Got Me): 0.2 / 268,000

1311 (You Oughta Know): 0.2 / 333,000

1312 (Everything You’ve Done Wrong): 0.1 / 172,000

1313 (Who Do You Think You Are): 0.1 / 214,000

1314 (Barely Breathing): 0.3 / 350,000

1315 (Black Or White): 0.2 / 277,000

1316 (Spiderwebs): 0.1 / 212,000
**********

Ratings information for the summer was available for only a handful of episodes:

1301/1302 (Summertime): 518,000 total viewers (1301 = 312,000 | 1302 = 268,000)

1308 (Young Forever): 367,000 total viewers

There’s no point in comparing anything to the telenovelas because those blocks in themselves bring in much higher numbers compared to the weekly format.  Unfortunately the only weekly numbers floating around on the web are from 11B, New Beginnings (which is a shame…I’d love to see 12B and especially 12C).

1132 (Underneath It All Pt. 1): 330,000
1133 (Underneath It All pt. 2): 358,000
1134 (Can’t Tell Me Nothing Pt. 1): 290,000
1135 (Can’t Tell me Nothing Pt. 2): 204,000
1136 – 1139: ratings unknown
1140 (Smash Into You Pt. 1): 336,000
1141 – 1145: ratings unknown

  1. Wow, thats not good for 13B. I think fans are bored with Drew, Eli and Clare. They want more of the characters that are behind the scenes so to speak.. We want more stories with Becky, Imogen, Zig, Jenna and Connor. I hope they put Drew & Clare in the backburner for a bit. I know fans are getting very tired of Eclare too. I’m seeing it all over the place and I don’t blame them. Eli & Clare should have been done with after Ray of Light.

  2. I’m not entirely surprised the ratings drop. 13B, for the most part, was awful. Poor storytelling, even worse character development. I don’t know what’s going on in the writers room over there – but they need some help – and better leadership. Here’s hoping the rest of Season 13 is better!

  3. Does this include online viewership? I purely watch it online because of my schedule.

    1. I don’t think so, I think it’s just TV (live and maybe DVR as well)

      1. Legend of Korra had the same “ratings,” but they did not include online viewership.

When they did, they found out the series was doing extremely well on iTunes and nick.com.

  4. The thing is, 13B has actual competition for the timeslot now, compared to 13A. White Collar, Glee, Crazy Ones, Reign, and Grey’s Anatomy. All of which can eat into the viewing numbers. 11B was on Fridays which has less direct competition, as most networks that aren’t CW do heavy Friday schedules.

Degrassi needs to either jump an earlier timeslot (Thursdays at 8) or go back to Fridays to lose some of the competitive alternatives to watch. Being on at the same time as Glee cannot be doing them any favors.

    1. You’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head. When Degrassi aired on Fridays, the lack of competition definitely helped their numbers but now they are like David taking on multiple Goliaths as far as ratings go. It is kind of surprising that no one high up in the decision-making process saw this kind of thing coming.

  5. When it’s not in its Telenova format, I think the show’s always worked best on Fridays.

  6. In my opinion, after Season 11 finished, the show stopped being good. I’m not really sure what it is but something about the rest of the seasons aren’t as good as the ones before it. In the beginning I thought it was because the story lines were lame; some of them aren’t as “juicy” as the others were. But I think the real issue are the actors, they’re just not as believable as the others. Especially that Zeke kid (I think that’s his name), the Latin looking chick, and the blonde gay guy (can’t remember their names), well actually, it’s all the new freshman (except for the guy that committed suicide). I keep looking back at the series and hoping I’ll like it again but I keep getting disappointed.

  7. I have watched since season 1. I hate to say it, but degrassi has gotten tired a long time ago. I still watch but it’s kinda like going back to school after flunking for like oh, 5 years or so. The last episodes I really liked was when Adam was there, and they killed him off. All the plots are rehashes now, the cheerleaders selling skin pics (Darci in season 7, I think), the spoiled rich kids (fiona n declan), etc. Even my fave degrassi spoof site, boycott the caf is long gone, sigh, guess I’ll drop out and hang out behind the Dot all day
