MuchMusic posted more in-depth details about its summer plans (the premiere party and the new weekly after show) and a description about the one-hour premiere here: http://www.bellmediapr.ca/Network/MuchMusic/Press/MuchMusic-Rings-in-the-Summer-Season

In the Season 13 premiere, school’s out and summer’s in!  A few lucky Degrassi students are bound for a once-in-a-lifetime romantic trip to Europe, accompanied by some fresh new faces. Maya is looking to play it cool and put the past behind her, but things heat up when she makes a questionable judgment call and winds up banned from the trip!  Clare thought her summer would be a bummer with Eli off in New York City, but the Europe trip on the horizon promises sunny skies ahead, as long as her cancer results come back negative. Meanwhile, Adam got an awesome summer job at Degrassi’s Kid’s Camp, but his beach babe Becky is Florida-bound for the next two months. He’s insecure about being apart and wonders if the time and distance will kill their relationship.

  2. I still have high hopes for this season, but I don’t think these promos are doing it justice.

  3. I agree, the promos are WAY too pre-teen. IMO. However, I will reserve my judgement on this season after the premiere. I will admit that Season 13 has been odd for me. I can’t really place the vibe surrounding it. It reminds me of Season 8 (WORST. SEASON. EVER.) and of Seasons 1 and 6 (Both seasons I love particularly). This one is just an odd duck of a season. But with Clare’s cancer storyline and the Paris trip, maybe things won’t be too boring.

    1. i think we’re all judging this season way too early. outside of the first two episodes, we don’t really know anything about it other than there being a funeral at some point.

      1. I can agree with you on that, but the promos are supposed to capture the viewers attention and draw them in. So far I’m not as captivated as I was with the Shark in the Water promo, Steal Your Heart Promo and the Bite Your Tongue promo. It feels like they are trying to aim this show in a very childish direction. Like Zoey 101 or Victorious. Degrassi was finally starting to “Go There” again. I would hate for that to get all screwed up.

But you are correct, we are all being too judgmental with very little info to back up our anxiety. So, I will try my damnedest to relax until I see for myself. Haha. It’s my favorite show of all time so I get really emotional about it. LOL.

  5. Wait, so are we not getting a Shark in the Water/ Bite Your Tongue kinda promo?

‘Cause if all we get is this- which is obviously directed at eleven year olds- I’m angry.

Degrassi is starting to become like a bad kids show on Disney or whatever, but with a PG-13 rating.

    1. I thought I heard something about them having another music video promo, but I’m not sure when it would be released with only 6 days left. It’s usually a lot earlier than that. I’m still gonna hope though, I love them.

      1. I think it’s possible we might not get it till after the premiere airs (if we do). since all the promo material is obviously hyping the premiere and next to nothing else so far.

I might be the only one that supports this direction. people constantly complain that they tend to give everything away, and now that Teennick is seemingly trying to keep things under wraps, people are complaining about it.

I can see what people are saying about the promos being really underwhelming, but I kind of like that they’re actually not attempting to make the show look more intense than it actually is for once.

  6. I don’t understand why everyone is complaining about these “childish” promos. For starters, I already know I, as well as most of you, will still watch the season no matter what. It sucks not to get a music video promo this year, but that’s not gonna stop me from watching the season.

Secondly, TeenNick has no creative control over the show (as far as I know). They can interpret whatever footage they’re given in whatever childish way, but when it comes down to it, it’s the actual content that matters, and TeenNick isn’t in the writing room saying “lets make this a little more pre-teen friendly”, so everyone worrying about this season going back on Degrassi “going there” – calm down.

Lastly, promos are misleading. Especially TeenNick promos. And we ALL know that. Remember the first 12C promo that we got back in 2012 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EOWQ-OvUJg)? If you judged 12C by that promo, you would have never known that it’d be a “go there” block with a suicide running a central theme throughout. I’d much rather have TeenNick focus on these petty love triangles that probably won’t be the largest focus this season, than have them spoil the cancer storyline, for example.

  7. I will admit I like the promos not spoiling anything, but the way the promos got me excited last year compared to this year has dropped. I think maybe that is what most people are thinking. It’s just unexpected.
