NEW cast members L-R: Andre Kim, Ana Golja, Eric Osborne
Per Much’s press release from earlier today, three of the new characters we’ll see in Degrassi Season 13 were announced today:

Three fresh, new faces – the fierce and fashion-forward Zoë Rivas (Ana Golja), athlete and former prep-school kid Miles Hollingsworth III (Eric Osborne), and sarcastic wingman Winston “Chewy” Chu (Andre Kim).

Kary, I was wondering if you knew. Do new actors get paid the same as cast members that have been there a couple years? Are the actors paid the same or does it depend on different factors i.e. actor’s experience, fans’ perception, years on the show, how major the character is, etc.

im interested but a little disappointed. Degrassi needs more diversity on the show

Degrassi is a lot more diverse than most other shows. Most teen shows have a single token minority, but on Degrassi this new season alone there’s Alli, Connor, Dallas, Dave, and now Chewy. Plus in the past we had Jimmy, Liberty, Manny, Sav, Alex, Hazel, Chantay, Zane, Danny, Damian, Marisol, Mo, Tori, Leia, etc. The first five characters on that list of past characters were actually developed and more than just tokens. However, they could use another Jewish character. I believe Toby has been the only one thus far.

Yes, it’s amazing how half the cast was Jewish in the early seasons, but who of them played the Jew of the group? The ugly nerdy one. Pure coincidence…

is it just me or do Zoe and Miles seem like Declan and Fiona 2.0, I know they’re not related but they seem very similar. And I could see Winston and Tristain together.
