Zombie Pt. 2 is being billed as the “season finale” by the networks. Stephen Stohn has confirmed that the networks intend to hold onto Season 12’s true finale, The Time of My Life, until June or July (it will still be aired as a one-hour episode).

Why do I feel like Andrea Lewis herself is coming on here and advertising this garbage? By the way, her whole post was laughable: she makes false accusations just because SHE wasn’t given good material and then goes on to promote her new show

Well, she DOES have a point. Hazel, Chantay, and Marisol have all pretty much had crap plots if any at all. I think Liberty has been the only female black character to have any real development, and it actually took quite some time for the writers to get her anything good.
The male black characters, Jimmy, Dave, and now Dallas, seem to have it much better in terms of plots.
I know that Kary constantly says that not every character is meant to have a plat, but you do see PLENTY of patterns with those that get the most and they are always the white characters (Paige, Holly J, Claire, Eli, for some inexplicable reason Drew, Spinner). The only true exception to this is probably Alli, which in quite refreshing.
I’m glad in a way that she wrote this, as I have noticed it long before.

I’m Hispanic so I can relate and I do get it. However, honestly speaking I’ve always just thought that Toronto was a very white city so obviously the majority or characters are gonna be white. I looked it up and there is actually only 8% blacks, there’re are more Chinese 11% and south Asian 12%. But there have been more black characters than Asian (lea, 1). Blacks have been more than represented. So really you can not complain about degrassi specifically. Other shows, yes.
Also not every wanna be knows how to act and should be an actor. You have to be likeable, which Andrew (along with Mia, Danny, and lots of others) never manage to be. Look at marisol, she shines with the material given. She should have just left the showing she felt she could do better.

I have mixed feelings about it. She has a point about some of the race issues, but her character was intended to be a sidekick from the start. Really, the characters on this show who get shafted the most are the nerdy ones who aren’t being propped up as the new Emma (Clare, Maya). Toby and Wesley were constantly screwed over and Connor isn’t being used to his potential (this does seem to be changing, but he needs an A-plot). This latest episode is a good example of the treatment of the non-Emma-like nerds: compare the amount of history Liberty had with JT with the amount of history Maya had with Cam. Now compare their screentime: Maya gets a two-parter (and possibly more next season) dealing with the aftermath of Cam’s death, while Liberty basically gets 1/3 of an episode dealing with the aftermath of JT’s death.
It’s also worth noting that the lighter skinned the black characters are, the more developed they are. I’m surprised that never came up in her post.
Back on topic, I hope a write-in candidate wins the presidency.

@Rosi, Leia wasn’t the only Asian. Manny, Zane, and Tori (although that last one might be debatable, since while the actress is Filipino, it’s unknown if the character is) are east Asian, while Sav and Alli are south Asian.

i think drew is going to win the election, eli and clare arent getting back together, and its obvious that maya is acting like a slut so she can cover up the feelings for cam. no matter how much she tries to fight it, she still loves cam and she is grieving his death in the inside. As for eli, i think that he doesnt want to be with clare is because they grown apart and he doesnt wantt them to be that on again off again couple. he doesnt want her or himself to go through that pain. its like that saying if you love someone, let them go

I don’t understand the point of waiting until summer to air the final season episodes. =( That’ll just make me rather annoyed, I think. I can wait that long for a new season because, when its that way, it doesn’t feel like a long wait. But waiting that long for the final s12 episodes? Seems forever!

Eli has been on for about two seasons now. That’s a whole lot longer than some other seniors. The actor portraying Eli can’t play a teen forever and will graduate. This provided him the chance to do other projects or find another career if he chooses. It’s not as if the actor is dead after this season.
